When John hosts he makes sure his homey, Pete, is in every sketch. I love that.
👏👏👏
Which one's Pete

“When life hand you a severed head, you put the mouth on your dingas” - John Mulaney, 2020
Thought it was funny until the end when it kinda started trivializing rape
@@rachelmoore2948 whit.
@@rachelmoore2948 oh come on dude
@@driley5004 To be fair, it’s pretty weird that they grab his head and have sex with it unconsensually.
@@andrewp2681 right... and you know that consent is a pretty modern concept right? Back when the story of the Headless Horsemen takes place did not have consent laws. Pretty effed up, but the sketch isn't incorrect about that.
I’m convinced that this isn’t a sketch, this is just a story from John Mulaney‘s actual life. We all know he’s immortal, his old timey voice gives it away.
I mean after what he did to princess diana who knows what he’s capable of
He's immortal just like Webby and Wiggly....
@@Aukejorrit this might seriously be the greatest reply I’ve ever gotten.
@@sapphosspecialboy Starkids look out for eachother ;)
The only thing that could make this episode better was if Salt N Peppa were performing as the musical guest.
Pete : "Personal connection"
John: "POWER"
Power for me
not the only time he has said that on SNL
The best part is that imo it’s honestly totally in-character for the original Ichabod Crane lmao
“Mainly Lorne who wrote this sketch” killed me
Jeehan: Right...: we had nothing to do with it...see *Loren* about it, ok...
This was definitely John material!!
Could be the worst sketch to ever air on SNL.
The Lonely Island did something similar with Jonah Hill dating Andy's dad. After Bill said he's fucking his dad, the text says "written by Lorne Michaels"
Killed you? Do you require aid?
“Uh It’s full of puritans, homie” best line.
It's really pathetic that you don't understand how this is depravity and disgusting. But it's even more disgusting that you got a thousand Thumbs Up by other garbage humans
@@Blessedone333AZ this whole sketch is a joke. They are purposely making jokes that are gross
@@mac8750 I realize you don't have the intellect to understand how the world works, but humor has always been used in propaganda. Go away now
My wife Goodie Chastity. Lol
Faith restored So you’re saying there is no place in this world for humor of any sort? Surly you’ve laughed at something in your life. Perhaps you’ve even told a joke or two.
This is clearly dark humor. You know it’s funny because of how insanely wrong and ridiculous it would have been for someone to say the things they said in this skit. I think that’s perfectly punctuated by the use of the word “homie” here.
Also, without your comment, I never would have known I got a thousand plus thumbs up. Guess I’m an internet legend now! Time to start a streaming on Twitch and Tik Tok!
But on a serious note, the root of this joke is that we as Americans, some descended from puritanical settlers, have a hard time talking about and respecting the role sex has as a part of our lives and a healthy relationships. It shouldn’t be disgusting and shouldn’t be depraved.
That way of thinking would certainly be a reason Pete’s character can’t talk to his wife, Goodie Charity, about the sexual aspect of their relationship.
Mulaney's voice is made for this old timey stuff
*Extreme Agreement*
that's cause he's actually from the 19th century
Mikey also does a pretty great old timey voice.
Teenage girls in the 2020 “omg I was totally born in the wrong generation”

He’s good at the early 1920-1950s type of movies and news casts, too!
“Hey, why send us to hell, when you could send yoursef to heaven? “
Hahahaha
Why does he look so perfect in period clothes?
(Mikey too!)
It's the time he's from
John's costume I'd wear everyday.
Because He’s immortal
because he’s a 4035 year old immortal
Holy shit, honestly surprised this sketch made it past the NBC censors.
Maybe the head of NBC Censoring is Goody Chasitity, and she didn't get it 😂😂
He used to write for SNL lol
SAME! Joking about repeatedly raping a severed head in the woods?!
It’s not Fox so it should be find
I had the same thought.....as I laughed uproariously.
I’ll pay just to sit in the the writers room when they were coming up with this sketch.
I mean, it basically writes itself when you establish the fact that “headless” is a double entendre for “not getting head”
I would LOVE to hear all the ones that get rejected. I'm sure after 16-22 hours awake they get REAAAAALl ponchy
These jokes are probably cleaner than many of the other options they produced. Michael Che is pretty open that his favorite jokes can't be televised. Maybe he is waiting for HBO to pick him up...
Three years late but honestly I think sketches of the writer's room while they're trying to think of sketches could be hilarious
Missed a good opportunity for a “sitting on your own face” joke here.
The censors probably told them they couldn't do it.
5:05 "mainly Lorne who wrote this sketch" HAHHA
“Icabod....Icabod Crane....we’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty....”
“Icabod... Icabod Crane... this is the department of Social Security with very important information about..."
I don’t understand this at all. What needs was my dear husband talking about?
- Goody Chastity
😂😂
Rape, apparently.
@@Hermes_Agoraeus I mean, back in the times of the tale of the Headless Horseman, rape wasn't uncommon unfortunately.

@@trickytreyperfected1482 Also Goody Chastity was likely 14-15 years old.
The delivery of "Dingus" was so perfect
He's the "Head" less horseman because he wasn't getting any.
I can't believe they didn't put that in the sketch.
@@kieran.grant_ Well now you know you can blame Lorne for that.
@mister foster,
Sounds like a personal problem. He has 2 hands he should use one of them.
That's the classic miconception. It only means he doesn't get as much as the next guy/guys.
Hats off to you for that awesome joke, man. I bend the knee to you!
"It's like they always say, when life hands you a severed head you put the mouth on ya dingus"
that animated owl is serving its worth out of the SNL budget.
HEY! That's High Tech!!? 🤔
lmao
Got it from an old prop from the 80s clash of the titans
I hear it’s going to be a featured player next season.
it's a props not animated lmao
"why send us to hell when you could send yourself to heaven?" 😂😂😂 this is one of the best SNL sketches I've ever seen.
as soon as I heard Mulaney's voice, i knew i will be happy to see his face and watch his sketch too.
Oh, I see the problem. They want the "Headgiving Horseman," that's a different guy.
You rang??
I love how Pete’s first thought was the less salacious option.
Uh using is head to spy on women changing is definitely MORE salacious
Teenage girls in the 2020 “omg I was totally born in the wrong generation”
John Mulaney: hold my sody pop, doll
"We'd all go play jacks at the soda fountain!"
"I was on the telephone with Blockbuster Video!"
John and Pete totally had a random conversation about this a long time ago, and they finally got the chance to make a sketch of it all 😂
Give Beck some props, he’s playing the straight-man’s severed head really well!
“Do you use your head, on yourself “ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Possible silver lining 😂😂😂
There's nothing scariest than hearing the questions everybody is too afraid to ask

The fact that I understood immediately I blame on my friends who make dirty jokes half the time 😂
John Mulaney is Ichabod Crane. He was born to play the part. Weird but funny skit.
"Do you ever use it, to like, you know?"
So that's why he's called the HEADLESS Horseman!
Why you think it’s weird

“But mainly Lorne, who wrote this sketch” DYING
I was watching with my mom and this lasted SO long 😭😭
And I thought it was going to be the musical sketch so I said “this one is going to be amazing” WHYYYYYY
I’m sorry. I hear ya. I have teenage sons..I would have skipped to the next video if it had been me. This was just rather icky, even to watch alone. Didn’t really find it funny, just odd. We generally stick to Disney plus when we are all watching here😉 It’s getting tough to find good family content anymore. Remember, us Moms are just regular people too. Don't worry about it. The headless horseman HAS no head, it was totally destroyed by a cannon ball.

Always a good time when John Mulaney is on set
“My god it’s the headless horseman” lmao that’s the same thing I said when I was watching the movie on Freeform the other day.
Johnny Depp as Ichabod was a great casting choice in that. But I'm curious as to which one is more faithful: The movie (the horseman is trying to claim his head back) or the skit (he's forced to carry around his head for eternity).
@@trickytreyperfected1482 - Kind of both and neither ... In the story he's riding in search of his head, but Ichabod also sees him carrying a severed head on his lap, which he throws at Ichabod. But the next day the townspeople only find a smashed pumpkin, and it's inferred that his town rival Brom Bones faked the whole thing.
So, it's both and neither, sorta.
@@masterofallgoons oh, I think that's actually covered in the movie like right as Ichabod starts investigating.
@@trickytreyperfected1482- Sort of. The movie gives a little more of a background the the Headless Horseman than the original story does. I absolutely love the movie, but it has very little to do with the story. Ichabod and the other characters are quite different than the original story describes, and the plot has nothing to do with the source story.
It's worth reading, and it's not long. I'm sure you can find it online for free since it's in the public domain.
Also, the Disney animated short from the 50s is probably the most faithful and accurate adaptation just as far as maintaining the basic story goes. It's also a great work of animation and Burton drew some inspiration from that aesthetic for the movie.
seeing Kate credited in the description has me dying to know what iconic lesbian head jokes got cut for time * *sobs* *
The Halloween song with Chance the rapper is still my favorite skit.
That's a good one.👍
Same owl, too!
OMG yes that's one of my favorites
They've really gotten a lot of use out of that low-grade owl puppet.
But in the story the horseman doesn't carry around his own head, he lost it to a cannonball (!!) in battle. He's looking for a replacement. Maybe for this reason.
0:34-0:36 love the cutout of Beck’s face 😂
I’m praying for you. Stay safe, Stat healthy. Have a great day and a great tomorrow.
They use that owl in everything Halloween 😂
this has strong 2000s joke vibes
2:01 idk i just like the delivery here
This is the best sketch this entire season god damned!
@00:18. I love how they reused the judgemental owl from the Chance the Rapper graveyard sketch. 🦉
Why send us to hell when you can send your self to heaven🤣🤣
The words “ghoul” and “ghoulish” are reserved for Mulaney to use in comedy.
🤣
Ok this went from 0 to 1,000 in 30 seconds. 😂😂😂
Wait a gosh darn minute, doesn’t the Headless Horseman usually carry around a jack-o-lantern for a head?
In some deoictions, he has a jack-o-lantern FOR a head, and carries his own actual head
I think.
I'm high and will not bother confirming that
The next time John hosts it's just going to be a full on Broadway Musical
Fingers crossed. He's almost hosted five times.
the last time he hosted it pretty much was
I mean, there is a musical about Ichabod Crane.... (kinda) called Tarrytown
Good to see this owl again from last year's Halloween sketch with Chance The Rapper. Iconic.
LOL ... "Remove 2 of the ribs" is Marilyn Manson reference 🤣
This sketch and talking about Ron Jeremy on WU (famously known for his ability of autofellatio).
It’s not really... that is an actual procedure people get to get smaller waist. Marilyn Manson never had that done, it was only a rumor.
Before Marilyn Manson, they used to say Alice Cooper did that.
I thought it was a Cher reference.
Which apparently is untrue as well, according to Snopes:
Women who have been rumored to have spared ribs to the goddess of vanity are: Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda, Racquel Welch, Tori Spelling, Pamela Anderson, Gina Lollobrigida, Victoria’s Secret model Stephanie Seymour, Kate Moss, Janet Jackson, and Britney Spears.
It's weird to look back at these sketches with the knowledge that john was probably back on drugs at this point. You'd never guess. Glad he seems to be doing better now.
I hear his big mouth character coming out.
The way John says "dingus" is the cutest thing
2:17 the genuine look Pete gives to John

Real quick costume appreciation! I'm no expert but John's costume is like freaking on point for the 1790s. He even has the hair with the ribbon.

Side note for those who feel this has ruined the story for them: the actual Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow has no head.
That's the whole Headless part.
In the story, it gets totally demolished by a cannon ball.
That's why he is riding around angry and headless.
