This report of yours is FARRRRR FROM REALITY-GO FACT CHECK: You guys who sit in AC rooms are far from reality, policies are made based on realities and field, not on the basis surmises and conjectures, as done in this video and FARM BILLS Can u compare apple and oranges? How can u compare farming and Industry and deregulation? This is foolishness! When u compare, please compare the comparables.[aap to Article 14 ki violation kar rhe ho start krte hi] Free competion is good in factories and Industries; in farming u need to save him from explotation, along with free trade, regulation should be priority in India, 🙏🏻 Read section 6, section 11 of PRICE ASSURANCE ACT! THere is no regulation on the buyers(corpoaates, who are given freedom) and Farmers(who in Punjab had freedom to sell in any APMC MANDI within State ) will be exploited! Aa jaate hain bina bills ko parhe JHOOTH KA GYAAN dene. MSP hone se nhi DENE ki baat hai, MADI CHAALU HAI, aao mandi mein? We are asking for our Rights! Give us Right to get benchmark Prices! This is our demand. These bills don’t seem to be drafted by experienced IAS officers, but by CORPORATE LAWYERS. The wording of the bills favour the exploters! Moreover name and objectives are ironical and misleading with respect to the provisions of the act. JUST LIKE ‘SABKA SATH SABKA VIKAS SABKA WISHWAS’, where they forgot the meaning of SABKA; have u taken us Farmers in confidence before passing ordinance, NHI LIYA, so stop using above slogan coz it is fake slogan like Indra Gandhi’s Gareebi hatao! Eh jalam sarkaaran kad tak sada naash kardiya rehngia, kad tak asin ashi jawange? Coming to misleading bills and this video- Quality check ke nam pe soshan kon dekhega?? Farmers have to cross such hurdles there, not the journalists like u. So talk of our rights, dont repeat false rhetoric that gov is repeating! The farm produce price can be changed as per the contractor company at time of sale as it is subject to fluctuations. And u say it will help farmers. We already have bitter experiences of Lays factory and potatoes in sangrur and wine factory and jeon farmers. Please donot teach us. We are not old-age’s farmers, we are graduates now, if we are not graduates, our daughters and sons are graduates. Even if they are less literate, we have hard experienced in Punjab. Donot teach us. If u come to Punjab to teach us, we will WELCOME YOU and you will be taught about reality in fields and mandis🙏🏻 Thank you for misleading in the video Now MSP, arey bhai woh toh abhi bhi hai, kya humari sari faslein uthhate ho MSP pe? I own a farm land, so I am sort of a farmer (I don't farm it myself), plus I have business knowledge through my education. When I took over my farm from my father for the first time and came to know about these restrictions I was shocked. Any party opposing this bill should never call themselves protector of farmers.
@@satishboda yes,but there are actually three different types of "farmers" you see selling their stuff in city. First - They are not farmers but one of the middlemen from mandis. Second- They are farmers but they have to pay some fees or bribe to some of middlemen to sell their stuff like "you give me 10000 rupees and you can sell under my name in the city". Third - Some farmers have connections in mandis or are family members of some important people in mandis so they can just use second national currency called " mera chacha *insert any important position here* hai " and can get away with doing whatever they want.
@@satishboda mostly what bhavya said is the ground reality. And what you saw are small rickshaws, that is a small fraction of what the entire produce of a farmer is. To bring such small installments from village to city the fuel cost and the rickshaws rent cuts into the profit. If a farmer is to load the entire produce into a truck and bring it to the city then he has to take it straight to the mandi /apmc market. If it is caught roaming around anywhere else in the city hefty fines are imposed. Even with the rickshaws if you have observed they run away if they spot a traffic police.

@Gattis world no brother he is talking about crops. By the system now there is no benefit for farmers. You can find article in internet about this. Only 6% farmers are using apmc. And the rest are suffering from loss of goods. They produce them but no one is buying them coz of restrictions. This law will give them just another option it won't take their options to sell it in mandi.
@Gattis world and brother by this act they can sell the crop directly. What was before ? Only a few amount can be taken by the vendors they can't store more than that but farmers want to sell a lot. This is where problem start we have seen a lot of cases where crop waste in filed or outside vendors
That IS the purpose of not putting it. Thanks to Hemant Sunder ji for bringing it up. I had seen that and am here to hear what Shekhar Gupta talk about it now. I must say he has been playing with his words. With reference to #471, he should have said that he welcomes it.
Didn't necessarily have to support WHATEVER reforms the govt introduces. Listen to P. Sainath regarding the reforms - ua-cam.com/video/wDDUdkA2Cjk/v-deo.html
Shekhar has defended the 3 bills with total commitment and conviction. These reforms were long pending and it is good that Modi undertook them, even if under the covid crisis. We can now say that a new age for Indian agriculture has finally begun and in next 10 years, we will see big changes in rural areas.
changes will be bad. Small farmers have very less resources to bargain with private buyers. For first 2-3 years private buyers may give high price and farmers may left Madies to sell outside, In this way Mandies will be abandoned and will stop to exist. Once no Mandies to sell and FCI reluctant to buy, farmers will have to sell to private players at lower than MSP. So these bills basically destroy the mechanism of giving MSP to farmers by rendering Mandies and FCI non-functional in long run. There are serious flaws in contract farming as small kisan can't fight cases against MNCs as majority times MNC pay less on the agreed price due to the clause of quality. With no limits under ECA Big hoarders can now play their games to manipulate market prices through cartelisation thus earning huge profits. Why protest in Punjab and Haryana mostly? because In punjab and Haryana only farmers get assured MSP through APMC and FCI procurement...other state governments have failed to provide MSP to their farmers so those who are not getting MSP why would they protest. Only way to calm these protest is that government should give in writing that FCI will continue to buy from farmers at MSP for every season. Otherwise this will ruin economy of Punjab and haryana as GST and demonetisation had ruined. Government say farmer will have choice to sell anywhere but being a perishable good and gult at harvesting season farmer will not get remunerative prices for sure in absence of APMC and FCI Procurement. Private traders will only like to buy at lower price as possible by cartelisation. Please reform APMC don't destroy it, don't play with lives of farmers, we all know a farmer can grow foodgrains but don't have know-how and resources to market it through bargain so it is very essential to provide him marketing support system where he/she is not exploited.
The uncontrolled Food & Agricultural market was misused by notorious manipulators, hoarding goods & creating artificial price rise. The price wars on onion, tomato etc has been happening for so many years. The British used food & famine as a weapon for Evangelization, recruitment for indentured slave labor and army recruitment. A digital supply chain and BIGData Analytical tools will resolve most of the monetary issues faced by farmers. All developed countries including China has a Global Supply Chain nepofindia.blogspot.com
@@sidhuRaj92 The apprehension raised about FCI not buying at MSP is completely unfounded. FCI is mandated to keep a certain minimum stock for various agri commodities throughout the year. So FCI will always be in the market for all practical purposes as the single largest buyer. In free-market conditions the largest buyer has a very significant impact on the market price. And since FCI shall not buy at any price lower than the MSP, the MSP will de-facto becomes the market price which will keep hovering between a narrow +/- range of MSP depending upon the actual demand-supply. So any unscrupulous price manipulation by private buyers can only happen if they have the buying power of FCI which no single private trader has. So to prevent such possible price manipulation the role of Competitive Commission of India needs to be strengthened and CCI has to gear up its vigilance.

As a son of a farmer, you should try to educate yourself. Also, Start asking questions to the govt and not to other parties who have been out of power for years now. The media is anyway asking questions to them. Now the answer to your question, Farmer suicide rates aren't high in areas of Punjab, Haryana. They are high in states like Maharashtra, tamil nadu, Bihar etc. If you look at stats, 96 percent farmers outside punjab and haryana are dealing with private buyers and hence, Aren't getting the desired pay for their produce. Shekhar, you deserve the Bharat RATNA for your lifetime of journalism with integrity and brilliance. Your analysis of the Farm Bills is the best I’ve seen. I am your biggest fan. As much as you support these bills, you, in your other report, criticise the government’s handling of the protests. I agree with you on both counts. Objective journalism at its best. You are a journalistic jewel.
& farmers are still protesting even when farm laws are repealed. The onus still remains on people like Shekhar gupta & Sadanand dhume who want BJP to implement economic reforms but will lecture them on civil liberties to be followed even during implementation time of economic reforms ignoring political reality of India 🇮🇳 intentionally or unintentionally that it currently doesn't have political potential and not just any political party and/or sociopolitical outfit which follows libertarian ideology (economic right & socially left) . So BJP is currently the real best option even if not ideal to implement economic reforms.
I think that these protests are largely fuelled by politically connected strong middlemen. They benefit from the extant status quo,by controlling all the aspects of farm business cycle, and consequently the lives of farmers. Farmers have been disempowered at the hands of lowly middlemen, urea manufactureres etc. It's high time we care about farmer's business model, and not flood him with (nonsensical) subsidies.
Saksham sinha you are wrong middleman here had no concern about it the farmer are protesting due to resson that contract farming nothing is mention in bill in writing about the minimum support price that should prevail. Issue here is how contractors or corporates judge the quality of produce crop Farmer will left of the witch hunt of big corporate. Plz have in mind that farming crop is perishable item it ha certain time frame to cut sell and store . Here all bill are silent to safe guard farmer. No subsidy is given actual in punjab haryana government tax as market fee was around 14 percent when vat of msp which same as corporate tax such a shame there is also no tax slab evasion for very small farmer and with gst it is around 8.5percent. Where comes subsidy
@K 2 In developed countries farmers are not subsidized because the companies are taking advabtage of them. Subsidies are there to protect the domestic farming sector. Something like import substitution industrialisation in which you protect certain industries that are core to you.
Absolutely. All these protests seem politically instigated - a result of misconceptions and resistance to change (even if it maybe for the better). Half the farmers seem to just go with whatever some leader or the other is saying instead of understanding the bills and repercussions themselves. Reminds me of the time when private companies and privatisation was first introduced and public companies made such a hue and cry about it - just because they would face stiff competition now. Their life would no longer be laid back. Vested interests are fuelling the protests.
@K 2 lol. Right from the stage of buying inputs, to selling his produce at a mandi, a farmers is not in control over his business. Name other business where entire biz prospects depend on outsiders. The people who claim to fight for farmers, are actually fighting for the prrservation of status quo.
Middlemen are funding this opposition. They must be paying out the politicians to save their monopolies. Imagine someone in Orrisa purchasing and getting product shipped from Punjab. Open trade is good for everyone, including the farmer. Someone should educate the middlemen that this will open up their client base to the entire country.

The assumption behind freeing the farmer from the clutches of nexus, is that freedom to trade, allowing hoarding and contract farming will enable better price discovery, which is doubtful or flawed. But what SG forgets is that the new middleman will be the big corporations which will setup new clutches for the farmer. So its not a watershed moment of reform, rather a watershed moment of transfer of colonization from nexus of buyers, traders and consumers to nexus of big corporations. Farmers will never be able to free themselves. But if this will not save the agriculture sector, nothing else will. I never understood how an agrarian state like Punjab is so rich. Now I do. The farming laws were working to their advantage. Their farmers burn stubbles, grow crops 3 times an year to sell to government of India. Their rich kids use the money to smoke weed
States like Bihar ,east up,jharkhand, chattisgarh have always been deprived of the benefits of MSP regime.only the states like Punjab, haryana ,west up have cornered the benefit of MSP policy of the govt. This is a major cause of regional development imbalance in India.
kundan thakur Exactly. These imbalances manifest in many ways. Like, do you really need so much rice production. Once the economic incentive is removed I hope the Punjab farmers will grow different varieties of produce which is also environmentally better (less water consuming crops unlike rice).
People from Punjab migrated to UK ,US in 19th century. This is one of the major reason of prosperity in Punjab. At Approx one member of a family is either in Gulf region or in canada or states. it is bad.

To bring such small installments from village to city the fuel cost and the rickshaws rent cuts into the profit. If a farmer is to load the entire produce into a truck and bring it to the city then he has to take it straight to the mandi /apmc market.
As much as you support these bills, you, in your other report, criticise the government’s handling of the protests. I agree with you on both counts. Objective journalism at its best. You are a journalistic jewel.
Sir Bharat Ratna zyada ho Gaya thoda.
You have earned a paid member today. 👍 Excellent episode . I Wish this episode could be aired on all the National TV channels. Too good.
I'd suggest not airing lies on national TV. Listen to P. Sainath for clarity on the farm bills - ua-cam.com/video/wDDUdkA2Cjk/v-deo.html
You are wrong sir here farmers are protesting under farmer unions politicial parties are not
Saksham sinha you are wrong middleman here had no concern about it the farmer are protesting due to resson that contract farming nothing is mention in bill in writing about the minimum support price that should prevail.
Yes so true.. Even end consumers will be benifited

When Milk can successfully be traded through co.operatives why can't that be done for agricultural produces?
Bcoz it's totally different then milk nd in milk industry producer also don't get enough in village we get 35rs/lt
@@babbumaan7595 Yes,at least we get that. Co.operatives are a check for private vendors. If corporates enter,we will not get 35 also. We should try to form co.operatives or similar organizations on our own to get remunerative price.
@@senthamilkannu Vegetable cooperatives have already been tried. Remember these are seasonal produce and very large variety of crops exist so prices fluctuate way too much. Milk can be processes and sold so some value additon can easily be done. That sort of processing to sure good enough margin for producers and cooperatives is difficult.Plus why people have such primitive protectinist mindset. 1991 brought some issues but overall poverty fell far faster after 91 reforms although it took some time for growth to catch up. That is why pv rao lost. He would have changed India for far better had he been pm for 10-15 years.
@@ANKITKUMAR-kv1fr Yes, we have become self reliant in agriculture as a country. The agriculturists are not getting the remunerative price is the main concern. Instead of involving them the government is pushing something which is not in their interest. The vegetable co.operatives have failed but if processing is done like milk for vegetables it can succeed. We have to involve and empower farmers by decentralization.
Processed vegetable and fruit demand not really high . What sort of value addition would be done. People buy them raw and cook unlike milk which is pasteurized and sold. Plus a number of items can be made from milk like ghee, butter, milk powder etc and all these products have large enough market all year round so investments can be made in infrastructure like cold storage. Plus sir do know only 6 - 8 percent farmers who are mostly big or medium farmers actually get msp. They get subsided urea, diesel for pumps and they take out tons of water for rice.Punjab is reeling with water crisis which is only going to get worse. We already have more than enough rice still all that public money is wasted.

This will only push more people out of agriculture in long run and help formalize our economic structure like the rest of the world. Ugly but true way to detox the agri sector. The intent of the government is right.

Glad to know the usually anti modi comment section here knows the bill is good for farmers and not just oppose it because opposition is doing so. Thanks for the rationality and sensibility
SG's comment section is pretty balanced I would say has a fair share of pro modi and anti modi people and a few who are neither as well.
it is bad.
@@sidhuRaj92 Infact if it wasn't for the damn rules about land we wouldn't have so many farmers we just have too many farmers our land output is very low all that labour is going to unfruitful things which could easily be replaced by machines if not for the land limits of owning big farms can buy up small farms and thus making todays farmers atleast partially self sufficient while they look for other job opportunities and thus opening up a big chunk of labour.
This farmer worship is just stupid every person has his job just because one is a farmer doesn't make one morally superior.
The reason why our farms are not modernizing is because well we have never allowed them to.
Fuck government control we need more freedom in this country and there is no libertarian/less government part in india both the big parties are socialists
Looks like Sharad Joshi's dreams are close to be fulfilled in near future.

How many farmers can go and sell their produce in markets situated in other places...So what will happen now.... Big corporate companies enter the market, they grab the farm produce at low price...So mr sekhar, don't tell lies..Otherwise, your credibility will be at risk...
Your arguments are full of contradictions..Do you say collecting mandi tax is wrong....
@@msvasa1 Nothing is happening to MSP , so no worries about that, and farmers will be relieved that they would sell their produce without having to worry about Mandi and middle men monopoly.
@@msvasa1 yes, it decreases farmer income and increases the MRP of end consumers.
Trolling level of SG -"Left has different issues in life "😂😂😂
Sir
This was your best episode till now
Thank you for enlightening us
Did he enlighten you or mislead you? There were no restrictions on farmers regarding where they can sell their produce, that was just a govt. talking point he was parroting. Listen to P. Sainath for clarity - ua-cam.com/video/wDDUdkA2Cjk/v-deo.html
The funny part is all left-leaning intellectual people complain about these reforms on twitter, a platform, which in itself is a product of the free-market economy.
Superb
Exactly, but the thing is they aren't actually left. Most of them just think they are. The left school of thought is credible and deserves attention and respect. But the indian social media left, by and large, are just a bunch of woke wannabes !
@@teebone25 how's Left school credible?
Bhaiyya grievance redressal kaise hoga kuch idea hai. Kon karenge bureaucrats jinki khudki koi credibility nhi ya courts jinme pehlehi lakho cases pending hai. No practically, no detailed thought process. Mere big words of left leaning and right leaning crap. Those farmers aren't protesting for nothing.
I really wish there will be a tv channel of "The Print"
anshul dagar but tv watchers dont have the kind of audience which youtube has I guess... and foray into tv leads to being worried 24x7 about trps and stuff... and the next thing we know is we’d see people discuss about what rhea eats in prison 😪😂
Do people still watch tv ?
How popular is tv for people below 50?
That's a BAAAAAD idea.
Mr. Shekhar Gupta ... My SALUTATIONS to you Sir !!! BER WELL EXPLAINED & ARTICULATED.... You have earned the "RESPECT & TRUST" of many like me who thought that were a part of the Anti Modi News Cartel !! Please keep up this UNBIASED ANALYSIS & DO GIVE THIS GOVERNMENT THE CREDIT WHEN IT DESERVES IT !!! 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
Since you remind us periodically Sir, I as student can't donate to Print now but once I get my job...my first donation will to Print...till then i can only appreciate and thanks for ur and team efforts
You won't get jobs
But your Taxes will surely go to Adani
Respect for ‘library on legs’. Yes, this is the best thing happened to Farmers in independent India.
Try giving some chance to advertisements that would be a help.....you can't completely rely on crowd funding
That's a very third-rate and cheap thing to suggest unless you're subscribing on their website or donating. With the view counts they're getting, UA-cam ads are barely enough to sustain one person, let alone a team of experienced journalists.
Crowd fund hav other perks too
Rewatch Rewatch Rewatch
This is a gem!
*SG, Please release Hindi version of the same episode*

Shekar gupta ji, please buy a big loud speaker and please play the audio of this video in front of Yogendra Yadav's house 😅😅😅

@Arun Sar yes.people are so polarized these days that they don't even want to listen the counter argument.
Why you are killing me ua-cam.com/video/yRLDF7p05ys/v-deo.html
Thats the best idea where these journalists are struck btwn investments and democratic free journalism
Wish people really understood what this Govt is doing. Blind faith is what is leading to this unrest.Let’s keep our India one, do not divide. Let the people of this nation live in peace & harmony.
The print supports the right, irrespective of the party
This was one of the best episodes ever...and the one liners as well😂😂😂
May be one of the most entertaining ever, but certainly one of the most misleading as well. Listen to P. Sainath for clarity - ua-cam.com/video/wDDUdkA2Cjk/v-deo.html
A good explanation sir... thank you
