I considered this motor, but they still seem to have issues with magnets becoming detached and other issues. Shame really as it's a neat unit with some nice tech. I opted for the bafang HD, not as neat or as technical as cyc, but seemed more reliable.
i know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I love any help you can offer me.
I'm wondering why not put the motor on a big heavy fat tire bike with big rack on back.? Huge 7 speed bike frame and fenders with a rack.. Built for commuting and comfort. Suspension post and cloud 9 cruiser seat.. Put 2 of the 72 V 20 ah batteries on back rack with a battery blender. Have a nice rear heavy duty gear set. Then you have a great comfortable cruiser fat tire bike that can go 40 mph and with a 80 mile range . 👍
That controller won’t allow the system to reach 5000watts. You’ll need the larger controller, the BAC2000 which needs to be mounted separate from the motor. Awesome build and fit of the motor!
No way it's 5000 volts. That would be incredibly dangerous. You probably meant 5000 watts and that's really high for an ebike motor. Also, what's with the square shank spindle and crank arms? Those inevitably work their way out over time and become very frustrating.
Yeah and he’s talking about carrying 5000 volts in a backpack. “ and the neighbors said they saw was a bright flash and a puff of smoke and he was gone!”
Looks good. I see you put padding between the motor and the frame which is important because CF does not like abrasion. Also I hope you have a good disconnect from your battery pack to the bike for when you crash or fall off the bike. The controller seems small for the amount of power you might draw. What about a bash plate to protect the motor?
It looks nice. But why that extra chain and not a closed gear like the BBS Bafangs? Isn´t an open chain more prone to wear and dirt than a closed gear housing?
I think the chain drive allows the motor to be moved away from the chainring. Makes for fitting into the triangle possible on a lot of bikes and also gives a tighter fit under the frame. The nice part is the controller is fit in the space behind the motor. However with that controller (BAC855) the system is limited to 3000watts. CYC offers another larger controller (BAC2000) that allows the 5000watts BUT you need to mount it separately. As far as wear. You won’t see any more wear than you would from say a motorcycle (or bike) chain. No problem.
These kits look really good ... but 40% more expensive than the Bafang 630 Mid Drive unit. Such a shame as it just makes it that much more expensive to convert and when want power and are price sensitive.... this kit is just too expensive to consider. (I almost bought one last night ... but instead bought the BAFANG unit out of China.
Be aware that the maximum torque to reach the gearing is 240 Nm. If you are considering an enclosed planetary gear solution, stay away from anything but the Pinion transmission, up to 18 speeds. It has a 240Nm torque rating the Rohloff for instance has a rating that is 1/2 that. it will also eat up the smaller rear sprockets if you run it with the full 72V. it is a well-designed amazing power assist solution, with both torque and cadence sensors. The first reduction consists of metal planetary gears on the end of the motor, then a sprocket and heavy chain reduction. In contrast, the BAFAND BBSD and UKTRA have all internal planetary gears for motor speed reduction and they are nylon, there are aftermarket metal replacement gears. the controller ith it MOSFETS and Capacitors are all housed in the same container as the motor. the CYC has an outboard controller which is far better for heat dissipation.
