@kylajames this is 100% my mom.
She is not an influencer but she does this And has done this since I was a young child.
She is a multimillionaire (something I wish I was!)
She doesn’t have any Stanley’s but she does have a customer fridge and crazy organizers for everything.
Something I learned is that if it doesn’t fit in her nice perfect fridge then it goes outside to one of the garages. The garage fridge is where everything gets piled into. It’s where all the leftovers go and it’s where most of her friends go to grab things because it’s easier than messing up her perfect fridge.
She also is the kind of person to have every bathroom (there’s 4 or 5) stocked up completely. Every bathroom has all of that stuff for every guest who stays over.
It allows friends and family to travel with less things when going to her house because most of us think it is a lot to travel to her.
Her goal is to minimize any reason for us not to visit.
      Hope that helps !!

But having a water bottle strap so you can bring it on a hike or whatever with just say your id and some cash/debit card, maybe a granola bar or something makes sense.

Yep- I used to do international mission trips with a local charity, and I would gather unopened hotel toiletries that people don’t want/often leave unused in hotels (and many housekeeping staffers have to toss after each guest). I would collect them all year from friends, esp those who travel for business. I had a little “restocking” looking shelf in my closet just for these, and I’d an organize them by type. In Nicaragua and Brazil, we would set up a little free “shop” at a community location where folks could come and choose toiletries, flip flops/water shoes, t-shirts/tanks, and eyeglasses (the reader kind- I collected these new all year as well). Most exciting time was once when I was working the little shop a small earthquake hit- common for locals but wild for me! Anyway, the organization had a real practical purpose… but I do admit I enjoyed organizing it all and seeing all the different style of toiletries from resorts/hotels I’ll probably never go! I enjoyed organizing and setting up the little shops as well. I loved how happy everyone was leaving with a bag of goodies and knowing many of the toiletries would’ve been trashed and never enjoyed otherwise, too.

Something I've noticed in fridge restocks is that almost none of the food can really be used as ingredients to make proper meals. You don't see like ground beef, hotdogs, hamburgers, nothing to make into a meal. It's all just snacky foods, even if it's fruits and veggies. Like tell me how you're taking cherries, strawberries, broccoli, etc. And making a full cooked meal for a family. You're just not.

ima be honest, the beverage fridge doesn't seem unrealistic to me. growing up i knew lots of people(surburbanites) who had a second fridge in their garage, and it usually was dedicated to drinks and small snacks. yknow, stuff the kids or dad could just grab while they were outside? or it was dedicated to their curing projects, like kimchi or dry aged beef.

That olive container is for things that you store with its liquid. The idea is that you can place it in the fridge/pantry in such a way that the product is in the liquid. Then when you want to grab the product, you hold it so that the liquid drains to the other side, allowing you to grab the product without having it roll around in the liquid. I know someone that uses a container like this for her pickles. She loves pickles so much, that she doesn't consider dinner good if she didn't have pickles. She has always had trouble getting the pickles out of the jar without the juice going everywhere, so this is a good solution for her.

The fridge from the ranch went on the back patio and is my dad's beer fridge and freezer has his ice cream and some meats lol. My step mom brought her old one as well and that's her drink fridge and the freezer has more meats. Inside fridge is the everything fridge if basics etc like normal. My house, we have two. One in the garage is the drink fridge and the freezer (bigger than inside) has extra stuff we rotate with the inside freezer.

I just did a restock. It wasn't this nonsense. I work long hours and never have time to go shopping, so when I get a day off, I have to make sure there's enough stuff to keep going until the next available day. There's nonsensical restocks and then there's realistic restocks. All the single use stuff for guests is wild.

This reminds me of my old roommate. She is a QVC junkie. This broad buys non stop. Our pantry wasnt a pantry. It was the size of a large closet and the shelves filled with dishes. Bakeware. In different colors she never used but didnt wanna sell because she wouldn't get the price she wants. Bought a kirby vacuum set up, with 2 full size dysons and a rocket vacuum and 2 hand helds in the house. Kitchen Aid gadgets. She had THREE food processors. Two air fryers She stored on the fridge and never used. A 16pc dish set she did use and that didnt include the bake ware she bought separately to match. Totes of place mats etc. New bed spreads. New containers for food storage that took up more space than actually keeping them in their original containers. Shit either collected dust or was stored away in closets. 3 drawers of silverware and cooking utensils as well as 2 canisters with utensils. Oh she also never cooks unless its the counter top oven thing. Freezer full of QVC bagels and pastries and tv dinners or whatever. I was so glad to move out.

I totally get where you’re coming from and generally agree. For guest bathrooms, I definitely will go out of my way to try to make sure the bathroom is clean and has what they need. But like you said, it’s hard to afford the amount that they do. If I could, I would, because I like to take care of guests, but I usually can’t. I always make sure sanitary products, with a wide asssortment are under the sink and sorted, along with extra tooth brushes and toothpaste, and towels. I have a niece that told me she follows my model now because as a teen, having free access to those products meant a lot to her (her parents didn’t have much).

    • @KylaJames
      @KylaJames  5 місяців тому +11

Totally fair! I can see that too - and i think having some stuff on hand def makes sense - hygiene products, extra toothbrushes and a toothpaste etc. I think the issue isn't having some of that stuff, it's promoting having ALL of it in such excess that it just isn't sustainable or realistic at all. If I was having guests come stay at my house i'd def pick up some of that stuff too just to make sure everyone is taken care of and there are no late night trips out to get a necessity like a toothbrush!

Something the ice restock influencers don’t tell you though, is that by the time all the ice gets out of the trays it’s slightly thawed out. So all of the ice, as satisfying as it is when you first see it, when it freezes again it gets all stuck together. So you have to smack it against the ice bin every time you get ice

We have a pretty open house so a lot of our friends will swing by just about every day to hang out, bring their dogs to play with ours, or have dinner so we utilize the fridge and it makes sense for our lifestyle. We also use it for regular and alcoholic beverages so there's a decent selection. When we don't have guests over, my husband and I don't really grab drinks from the fridge. Coming from someone who has 2 metabolic issues and a serial dieter (who also is a stress eater lol… I admit), some of the fridge prep (some) is actually good. A lot of my healthy eating and healthy diet plan involves a lot of fresh produce, portion control and prep… I work a job where I doubt have a lot of time/energy, so prepping some things ahead of time is a must to stay on track, to be fair and some of it is just plain ridiculous.

Because when I used to work (even now when I’m just really hungry but can’t stand up to fix anything because of pain from failed back surgery) as a cosmetologist standing all day is the last thing I want to do is STAND UP, PREPARE & COOK/FIX the meal!🍲 (Southerner here & it’s just too hot to do all that work! Oops, TMI.😬) Just pop your OWN in the microwave or toaster/convection oven and… BODDA BING, BODDA BOOM! You have an awesome meal that’s better for you than “fast-junk food”!! You’ll also know what’s in it (healthy & NO junk). Plus you’ll save you some money in the long run. Put that saved money back & take a nice relaxing VACATION!😊 ✌🏻

Those mini products are deceptive cause by the time you buy a multipack of those tiny products… you’ve already bout into more waste, less practical packaging, etc. the one thing I could understand mini product wise is feminine hygiene, antibacterial wipes, maybe alcohol swabs if diabetic, but things like prepackaged towels, mini tictacs or gum etc is just too far because at that point you’re just buying into the gimmick of things being small.
Side note: I’ve been in the medical field for a while now and I’m switching career paths because of how understaffed and unsafe the work environment got post covid BUT you don’t need a Stanley specifically or other branded cup with a purse attachment unless you truly don’t have much time to go back and forth between the nurses station and patient rooms but you also don’t want to carry much with you (aside from car certain cards and inhaler (if you need one), Benadryl or other allergy medication, a face mask and or an epipen/ diabetic testing device with you (if you absolutely need one at all times)).

If I was lucky enough to have a guest bathroom, it would be empty of products, because if a guest turned up without any of their toiletries and expected to use mine, they would be leaving faster than they arrived. If there’s no clear expiration date, I write the date I received them, often with from where I got it. This is because if I got it from a subscription like FabFitFun or something I know they sometimes are closer to the expiration date than things I go out and purchase myself.
