- Dan MarinoThe Most Gifted QB in NFL History period!!!...but really Dan Marino was in my eyes the greatest QB ever (only Tom Brady is in that argument because of all his accomplishments and super clutch gene) I've never seen a better arm ever! Not winning the big game hurt his legacy big time but had absolutely no help most of his career, but he still would be my first pick in NFL history..if he would've just won one superbowl and he'd be top 3 with absolutely no debate

When Marino played , I never felt the game was lost !!! #13 🔶🐬🔶 GREATEST EVER
Except in playoff games and his one Super Bowl but kicking.
lol Marino was a 🐢 and slow turtles dont win a Super Bowl.
@@jackhammer111My sentiments exactly, they gloss over those Playoffs Game's after the '84 season.
@@juanparty Best QB ever. Have you ever played organized football Juan?
No truer words ever Said
If Marino played in todays NFL under these systems and rules lord it would've been SCARY!!!😎
No, he was a turtle, lol he cant run 5 yards, he would be the same loser guy, turtles dont win a superbowl and marino was a 🐢
Only thing scary would be the poor DEF having to defend extra possessions and plays due to Marino's inefficient passing game and inablity to consume any time (to give the DEF a rest) with the running game. In summary, his new team would still have ZERO SB wins.
@@WaywardAnalysis🎯
He was the most accurate ever, too. He didn't have gun for an arm, he had damn a laser.
no, the turtle Marino finish his carrer being the most intercepted ever, and the QB who never won an important game, ok only won AFC in 1984🤣
laser lol, laser Jeff George, Elway, Cunningham, but turtle Marino 🤣🤣🤣🐢🐢🐢
Being so blessed to be a fan of the Miami Dolphins as a child growing up in Miami in 1972, seeing them go 17-0 does not compare to watching Marino make unbelievable throws. I would not trade a Superbowl win if I did not get the chance to see Dan play. He was the greatest pure passer ever. THE END PERIOD.
Period!!!
Lol how people like you overrated the turtle Marino, he wasnt even an athlete
48:33 Look at that body dude, lol turtle Marino dont deserve any superbowl, what a McDonalds belly, is a fu..shame
Wow, how little you know. Were you even old enough to have seen him play?
One of the best videos I've ever watched on UA-cam...
Something to consider, when thinking about how we measure the "Greatest QB to ever play." 10 or 15 years from now, when they make this video for Tom Brady (and this is not meant as a slight on Brady), will it have the same feel as this video? People talk about Marino the way they talk about Gods and deities, with respect to his abilities. When they make this video for Brady, it will be about his consistency, his decision making, his ability to win the big game. Things that are obviously important. But they won't talk about him like this... with the kind of language and aura that just gives you chills and inspires awe. I watched Marino from the day he came off the bench for the first time in a blowout loss to the Raiders... even in that game, in a game that was over by halftime... he brought Miami back and made you think they had a chance to win it.
At least for now... nobody has ever played the game at a higher level than Marino. They may have broken some of his records, won more rings... but nobody ever gave you that feeling that you were just watching something that was untouchable. That is what greatness is all about, and that is why he is (at least to this day), the greatest to ever throw the football... 0 rings or 10 rings... Dan is the Man!
you made me tear up reading that...he was the best, a shame I only saw him play down there about 6 times, should've went a lot more, it was awe-inspiring
Dan Definitely The Man!
Brady cheated when they make that video its already tarnished with astericks thanks to kraft and goodell who altered games for brady with the refs beginning with the tuck rule
That's a good point you made about Brady. I do not think Brady will be viewed the way Marino is. Football fans talk about Marino the same way they talk about Barry Sanders.
And so do the great's that played against him.
The quote at the very end by Brett Favre says is all you need to know
The best to ever throw a football
With today's rules his 1984 season would be the equivalent of close to 6000 yards and 65 tds, weather he's the GOAT can be debated... but without a doubt he has had the single best season in the history of qb's
48:24 Look at that pelican double chin lol, he wasn't even an athlete, he spent the summer eating at McDonald's, my grandmother at 65 ran faster than the turtle Marino at 23 years old🐢

Dan Marino was the greatest QB ever. It's not his fault that his team didn't win the Super Bowl anymore than it was Ted Williams' fault the Red Sox didn't win the World Series or Mike Trout's fault that the Angels suck. Dan's arm strength, quick release, downfield accuracy and ability to read the blitz were unparalleled.
What crap. quarterbacks affect the outcomes of football games more than any other position on the field. In case you haven't noticed football and baseball are completely different kinds of sports.
@@jackhammer111 That is totally inaccurate. In today’s game, you are right, but back then, with the rules they had, a great QB couldn’t do it by himself. You probably never watched football in the 70s, 80s and 90s , you needed a TEAM not just a QB like today. You can’t even hit the QB or hold the receivers, there was no 5 yard rule, no defenseless receiver, etc. so defenses dictated the game a lot. If the Dolphins had had an above defense they would have won the SB. Many times they would score 48 points and they would lose because the defense let the other team score 51 points.
If Dan Marino played today and he couldn’t win the SB, then I would agree with you. But with the rules of his time, he did the best he could. It is not his fault the team didn’t win a SB. Anybody who played or watched the games back then would agree with that. Today’s rules have made possible for great QBs to influence the results more than before.
Or Patrick Ewing not getting his ring. All time great just didn't have the help needed to get the ring
Of his ERA .
Basically, imagine Josh Allen's arm strength combined with Troy Aikman's accuracy combined with Bret Favre's quick release. THAT was Dan Marino's golden arm, the best arm that football has ever seen.
And turtle legs, Lol turtle Marino could run like my grand grand mother.
You nailed it! Great analogy
@juanparty
The fact you disrespected your grandmother and Dan Marino with such childish comment says alot about you as a person... There will come a day when you are old, unable to walk, wear diapers, and piss in your pants... karma will always come back and haunt you, amigo.
Now imagine that with legs and you get Aaron Rodgers in his prime.
You have no idea what your talking about. Bret Favre’s quick release? You obviously never seen Dan Marino. And Aikman’s accuracy? Ok.
🤣
Fierce competitor love when he won the skills competition drilling bullseye's with that blue chalk on the ball. Won the obstacle course with a knee brace on !
Dan Marino was the only quarterback to beat the 85 Bears. He carved them up!💪🏈
In the regular season. No one cares except Dolphin fans. Marino sucked in the playoffs but played well in the regular season. He just wasn’t clutch. Jim Kelly is 3-0 against Marino in the playoffs.
@@dociebiemowie915
He was a great quarterback he just never had the team around him like Joe Montana.
@@altonwilliams7117 well he had a good enough team to throw for a lot of yards. Then in the playoffs he got shut down.
Jim kelly had a top 5 defense and running game at the time.
@@dociebiemowie915 how exactly did dan get shut down in the afc championship game against the steelers? That is a playoff game right?
I still like NFL football not doubt but it has not been the same since #13 retired.
Dan Marino brings tears to my eyes. Never missed his game. Win or loose. Marino was a general on the field. A burning desire to win. That glassy eyed look. You know he was going to take the game on his back to win the game. To me, the best QB. There is better, but to me, the best
Danny Marino is the greatest QB of all time!!! Don’t take my word for it. Listen to HOF QB’s like Aikman, Farve, Young, Moon, and Manning. It was a pleasure watching this man play football.
Greatest pure passer of all time, quite probably. Greatest QUARTERBACK of all time? I'm not so sure. Even in that era, Joe Montana could beat a defense in more ways. Montana wasn't as great a passer as Marino, but Marino couldn't take advantage of a defense as many ways as Montana.
Robert Eugene- The argument(s) against Montana, in my opinion, are the talent he had around him, his system, and Head Coach. Talent:
Roger Craig: Arguably the best RB of the 80’s. 1st player to have a 1K rushing and 1K receiving in the same season. 1st RB with 100 catches. Very underrated player in my opinion. An all time great.
Tom Rathman: The best FB of his generation and a great player.
Brent Jones: A WR playing TE. A real mismatch.
Jerry Rice: The greatest football player of All Time!!! His numbers speak for themselves.
John Taylor: A #1 WR on any other team and he probably should be in the HOF.
Ronnie Lott: One of the greatest defensive players of all time.
Bill Romanowski: A very underrated LB who had success wherever he played.
System:
The West Coast offense was very QB friendly. The 49ers didn’t miss a beat when Montana got injured. Yes, Steve Young is a HOF QB. But, how do you explain the success that Steve Bono and Elvis Gervac also had in that offense? It’s the system!!
Bill Walsh revolutionized the game!!
Joe Montana was a great QB, but he had a lot more help getting their than Dan Marino.
0 Super Bowls/playoff disaster
Dolphin team was ranked 24th defensively by 1984 so you're a little off with your years HDQB. Either the players on defense aged dramatically from 1982, or they had been traded.
Check Marino's TD's to interception ratio, and it's far superior to Elway's all time. Not even close. Marino was a much better thrower HDQB.
The best qb of all time!
I hate how people make championships everything when you watch Dan Marino and Aaron Rodgers you just see those dudes are different
Dan Marino is and always will be the best quarterback to ever play the game of football
I don't know if he will always be... I don't know the future. But as of today, he is the greatest to ever to do it. I am of the opinion that given enough time, there will always be someone better, because they have the advantage to learn from him. But without a doubt... nobody ever threw a football better than Marino... so far....
I agree 100 percent hard to believe never won the super bowl
HANDS DOWN!😎
Now come on Eric. Dan was good. And I appreciated his contribution to the NFL. But he isn't THE best quarterback ever. He did make a serious impact on the record books I profess that immensely. But not the best ever.
@@GClooney17 It's was because he didn't have the players to get him back to a Superbowl. That was it.
I was lucky enough to see Dan Marino play on television. I was born in 1989 so I was really young when I watched him. So glad my dad was a dolphins fan. I live in New England too which is great when we beat the patriots. My dad passed away 2 years ago but the love for the dolphins will never die.
The only reason I became a Dolphins fan was because of Dan "the man" Marino!!!
Whenever someone looks up the word quarterback, Dan's picture should come up next to the definition!!!
Me too
The secret was in the Isatoner gloves
And Jim "the Mad Dog" Mandich's voice on top of that...
Gifted with everything but a top level team around him
31:37 Did I just see Marino scramble???!!!
As kids we take things for granted. I took Dan Marino for granted as a Chiefs fan. But today I realize how great Danny was. He never really had a defense. My KC royals drafted him and Elway as pitchers . And man that would have been hell of a team. When I look at my current QB in Mahomes I have, I think of Marino and Favre combined.
I catch so much hell for saying Dan Marino is the greatest QB of all time. Sometimes I wonder if it's just because I'm a dolphins fan...🤔
There are other reasons...
Surely would have a few more rings, no?
I say the same thing..and I dont care if Brady or Mahomes get 15 rings...Dan carried the team for 17 years and always kept us in the playoffs...its so frustrating and just flat out STUPID..that we couldnt build a complete team around him
@@adamdungworth6189 TEAM'S WIN GAMES!
Whomever you believe to be the GOAT CAN NOT Win NFL football games by himself!
Greatest pure passer EVER !!!
what is pure passer? overrated the turtle Marino
@@juanparty , It means He had one of the greatest deliveries of any Quarterback. The way he threw the Football was natural and he could make throws downfield and put the ball in spots to where only the receiver could catch it. Doesn’t mean he was the best Quarterback i never said that but he had as good of throwing motion and touch as you’ll ever see any Quarterback have. That’s what I mean when I say pure passer.
DAN IS THE G.O.A.T. PERIOD.
When the game was fun.

Game winning touchdown to Fryar vs Patriots

When I was young I’d cry when they would use thier pics for receivers not offensive line to protect him damn they could of had it all
The reason I started watching American football in the UK, back in the early 80s. Simple. Dan Marino... And big John Elway (on the highway). Elway was good. But, Marino was Marino.
Fantastic. Really well put together. Thank you
The G.O.A.T ( imo)...as other commenters have mentioned...
Lack of rings? Never saw that as a negative in HIM ,but as a negative in the DOLPHINS...
Yes negative for the 'phins, absolutely. Magnified negative due to the fact they had Dan effin Marino on the roster. It is that negative that reflects. Hate to say it, but it does.
That 7 step drop was Lethal!!
Awesome videos! Keep it goin' dude💯💯
Thanks a lot Levar it's truly appreciated 💯👍
What great tribute to my hero Dan Marino. Dan you are The Dolphins with Shula. Loved watching you and the Dolphins play every time.
Dan Marino is to pro football like Michael Jordan is to pro basketball..
Minus the 💍’s tho 😒
One of the best videos I've seen on Marino , thank you !! #MarinoBestEver
Appreciate you
Only reason you played with Miami on tecmo bowl 1 and 2
He is #1.
💯%
Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen was #1
Marino could get rid of the ball before even touching it. The only QB to come from Mount Olympus
I remember playing tackle as a kid...living in New york..yet most quarterbacks would say .."marino" as they would throw the football . I remember listening to football scores on the car radio while being out with my parents in the mid 80s...even though we were in New York they would always give marinos stats for the day and they were always off the charts....no better play in football then watching a bomb to duper or clayton...it was like artwork
Beautiful arm accuracies
Wow. Really good. Well done.
Thanks a lot Joseph...Marino my favorite player ever
Seriously Niko?
Dan Marino wasn't the reason they didn't win a super bowl. He took shit teams to the playoffs that no other QB could. He's the greatest passer ever.
I agree 🐐
He never had a good running game or defense and his O-line was not too elite. He is by far the only non scrambling pocket passer that could still make it behind and average O-Line. Put Tom Brady behind an average O-line lol
@@chipgeron6753 he had the #1 ranked defense twice, and the #4 and #7 ranked defense in other years. The narrative that he NEVER had defense is false.
He took over a team that went to the Super Bowl the year before he was drafted...His early teams were great, had the #1, #4, and #7 ranked defense. His later teams waned, but that narrative he never had any talent around him is not factual.
@@hdqb2813 Montana and Brady have also had D's ranked in the top 10 in seasons they didn't win the SB. The best D Marino ever had was in his rookie year. Can't blame a rookie for not winning it all. Then in his 2nd year the D gave up 4.7 yards per carry. They also played one of the top 10 teams in league history against the 18-1 49ers. The next time their D was even respectable was certain seasons in the 90s. Marino was never the reason they didn't win it all.
Man... if our country falls apart, it was awesome to be witness to his greatness.
I read Dan's biography...he said when he was 12 his Dad coached a semi pro football team in Pittsburgh that had some decent talent but he said even at 12 he was better then their QB...so he was a prodigy.
I seen him play in Miami many times and it was amazing, I saw him throw a pass to Clayton right before the half in-between two Jets defenders it was so fast and accurate I was like, "what was that?" No one has ever thrown a football as good Dan Marino.
GOAT
Jets fan here....hes the GOAT
I meant, Dan Marino + LT Lawrence Taylor = GOD! That's the defense he always deserved.
(Dan Marino + Barry Sanders = God) I'm stoned, don't know why I said Dan Marino and Barry Sanders. It's because those are my two favorites.
I'm in the same boat, both are my 2 favorite players in those positions.. Those 2 on the same team is something only a person on drugs can dream of
That's definitely the RB he deserved.
And if he had Randy Moss to throw to with his cannon arm and pin point accuracy on his rainbow arc deep ball... My 3 favorite players at their respective position
The one thing I noticed about Dan is he dropped it right into the arms of his receiver in stride.... If he had a burner to throw to, good God the potential is crazy
@@issajoke2437
In the early years of his career, he had "the Marks Brothers" to throw to. They weren't exactly slouches at getting open deep.
When Dan Marino left football I stopped watching it period, because he was football.

Damn... was born in 89... it's awesome to see the miami dolphins at the orange bowl, to me that was and always will be the home of the miami hurricanes. Best view of downtown Miami. Simply the best. God i miss it.
Imagine prime Marino Vs Patrick Mahomes God that would be the greatest QB duel of all time defenses might as well just take the day off
The greatest thing about Marino was " the game was never over, even if they got down by 20 or whatever, you knew he could and would bring Miami back.period.
I remember a stretch in his carer where there were a fair number of dropped balls. Many were on target though quickly sent with quite a bit of zing.
Makes me so Happy to Now Know the Jets passed on t Dan. Being a Dolphins fan I’m So Happy
Great fing video !!!!! #13
After the '84 SB run, the defense was mediocre at best, until Jimmy Johnson took over. Johnson immediately built the foundation of what would become a consistent top 10 defense for over next 6 or 7 years, but by the time he got there, Marino only had a few good years left. Any chance they had in that window was ruined by Johnson forcing Marino to run a slow, run-first offense without a back or a line that could run block. It was SAD to watch. Imagine if Marino had a back like Ricky Williams or Ronnie Brown, and a mean, dominant defense like they had with Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor in their prime.
Amen
Dan Marino even sounds like a native from the Pittsburgh area, Marino was before my time but I use to like to listen to his sports commentary, listening to him and (John Madden) you could really learn a lot while watching a game, I'd give him credit for also educating football fans like me.
Dan the man
I’d love to see the top QBs since 2010 play the game in 1984.
One of the best players on the field was Mario RIGHT ARM!!!!!
I take marino over errbody
i'll take Joe Montana and beat you every time
Marino youll be remembered as one of the greatest ever and to some of us the Greatest qb ever to throw the ball
NFL Films is str8up American Theater 🎥. I used/still every season wrapup no matter how good or baad itta b saucy. N dey never disappoint. Let's Go Oakland!!
Think Brady the best ever at winningr, but the best pure quarterback ever no doubt- Marino
@Kent Horvath kinda hard to win more than Brady. And a stretch on the injury part
@Kent Horvath who is the Millennial?
The amount of games Dan Marino won by himself are probably insurmountable
Over 5000 yds and 48 TDs in 1984. 1984. Imagine what he could do with today's rules...
6,000 yrs 60 tds easily
Marino was like a reincarnation of Johnny Unitas. So simular in style. Sucks he didn't win one
The Goat in my book...all he had to do was win 1 chip top 5 all time.
That's a fact 🐐🐐🐐🐐
Marino was a standout, in a sea of GREAT QBs in the 80's and 90's.
He is definitely 1 player who would translate to today’s NFL. He had the most arm talent I’ve ever see.
I always felt he DID win his Super Bowl in '85 when they embarrassed the Bears. Nobody else beat the Bears that year. They don't beat Chicago without Marino.
I hope we never do. Dan Marino deserves a special place forever. Dolphins fan for life because of Dan Marino.
48 tuddys and 5k yards in 1984 is more insane than people realize today
What an angel at 0:34 😍😍😍
What Dan Marino Did with the Dolphins Is a million times, Better then Any Superbowl.. A Superbowl happens once every year. To this day there is Nobody Will Ever be a Marino. He made a failing team have new life and brought the franchise Prominence For his whole Career. Not only that He gave new life excitement for the entire league. More people started watching football in the 80's huge part of that goes to Dan Marino. He made the game exciting. He changed the history of the entire league. Even my grandma's who hated football would say Is Dan playing. If he was she'd sit down and watch him play. If he wasn't she'd turn off the TV.
Brady with all his little rings wouldn't be able to beat the 85 bears Only Dan could do that...What Dan did transcends Any Superbowl win. He was bigger then any game even the biggest. He elevated the league like Michael Jordan did to basketball. That is his true Legacy he was too good and larger then Life to be just another SB win guy. He's on that my Rushmore.Forever
He missed the post season 7 yrs out of 17 .
@mr.majestic3851 his team did you don't know history 🤔
Dan Marino is the best ever 5,000 yards in one season and ain’t been done till drew brees did it,
Hes like Moss .
Great in those 17 games and thats it.
Pick a guy and let it fly!!! The reason im a dolphins fan to this day and will be till i die
After Super Bowl 19 Shula and his staff couldn't keep up with the changes in order to get the Dolphins to more Super Bowls. Certainly wasn't Dan's fault. If Brady had a coach other than Belichick The Pats don't make it to nine Super Bowls and win six of them.
Dan marino the G.O.A.T sorry brady dan used fully inflated balls to pass not nerf football. The quickest release in nfl history and most accurate too,I wear his#13 jersey every chance I get loyal fins fan since 1988
I Been one to since88
Who is he kidding? ARod went to a private high school in one of the richest areas of the nation off of Old Cutler in Miami. If he was poor, then I am rich. I am not rich. But want to say that football is a team sport and I just love Clayton, Duper and Moore too. They were probably the happiest guys on the team. lol So many great names. Stephenson, Jensen, Rose, Kuchenberg, the Blackwood brothers, Cefalo .... It was a great team. Miami was lucky to have Dan Marino. And it is humbling that Marino loves Miami too.
7:46 is the quickest bomb I've ever seen in my life. Holy hell.
48 td passes when receivers was getting they ass beat up and down the field Marino would have 65 to 70 tds if he played today lol
DAN MARINO IS THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME! FACT'S! LEGENDARY GOOSEBUMPS NOBODY ELSE WILL EVER TELL ME ANYTHING DIFFERENT WHEN YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO YOU SEE THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME THE REAL GOAT #13 FOREVER ❤❤❤
I watched him throw in Foxboro and i was on the first row from the sideline and he would put a zip on that ball that was unreal i meam if you did not catch it right it might break some fingers as it was that fast. He did a lot of great things on the field but he does not have a ring and that must bother him more than anything else about his career !!
Ive been watching football since the 70s Marino is my favorite player. Being a steeler fan we could of had him ill never understand why we didnt pick him. Cos the dolphins never had a running game or a defense thats why he never got a ring if pittsburgh would of got him he would be the GOAT. But he is the best qb i ever seen
Marino arm talent is 2nd to none. Ill have that Convo with whoever
Besides an incredible, quick release, Danny probably has big hands to grip a football tightly, when throw any passes, especially into a crowd or between defenders. The two, Dan Marino and Dan Fouts, the best pocket, pure passers of the 1980-90's in the NFL. gg, Tampa Florida
08:55 looks familiar...Georgia vs Alabama in the National Championship looked a lot like this!!
He should still be a QB's coach. Even in Miami. LOL
And another thing, Jimmy Johnson f*cked things up in Miami.
Best ever
Marino had very fast receivers even though they were small of stature .. their speed and Marino’s arm was the best to watch .. the receivers could outrun a deer
I started to go to miami dolphins games at 13 yrs old in 1983,,, my first game was 8 pm at night .. I went alone... my parents must have been nuts. But i knew how to get to the orange bowl , i did my research..I love Marino and its a damn shame he didnt get at least 1 super win and feel the sensation of all ur hard work paying off....I so love Marino and all the great times he gave us miami fans BUT there is only one person better in my opinion and it kinda pains me to say it. ..Belive me im so MIAMI ... Brady has to be #1 Tom Brady... I hate to even say it but I just dont like lieing and i love to be openminded without bias.......They both have fire in thier eyes. They both believe they can comback from any deficet point wise. They are both the best.. too bad time and space fked dan...Growing up watching Dan was great. Damn shame he didnt win it.But he won in so many other ways... Even tho he didnt win the BIG game, He won MORE then a super bowl, HE WON RESPECT .
Tom Brady will never be as great as Dan Marino in my opinion. For all the success shady Brady has accumulated, with or without the controversial cheating scandals, it would be nothing compared to all that Marino would and could do with a great/superior offense and defense. Dan Marino will always be one the original, if not one of the original, “Greatest Of All Time.” If nothing else he is one of the greatest if not the greatest of my generation. Born in 1976 I became a diehard Miami Dolphins fan during the height of Marino’s career. Good or bad, win or lose, I will be a Miami Dolphins fan for the rest of my life. Dan Marino highlights are the greatest or are at least among the greatest ever football moments in my opinion.
