i watched a couple of videos today on this....and one was yours. It worked PERFECT. Took the hood badges off of my 2005 Chevy 2500. Used Goo Be Gone and worked great....it smells citrus. Put the new badges on and I am PLEASED beyond measure. Used fishing line.... Works great. No heat gun. Thanks again Boss.
OMG!!! I am picking my jaw up off the floor! I absolutely love you and your Passion, I have learned TONS from you. I would have to say that Black Truck right there is the VERY BEST looking black vehicle I have ever seen after being polished. You aren't kidding when you say PERFECTION. Much love and a huge THANK YOU for all your PRICELESS KNOWLEDGE AND WILLINGNESS TO TEACH. You have definitely helped me IMMENSELY! ❤💎🏆👑 Thank you Darren!!!
Great info Darren! I've used this method from your last video you made to remove the GPS sticky pad on my dash board when I turned in my lease! Worked like a charm!! Keep up the great work!! Love the links and have bought quite a few of your products you use and I'm addicted!!!
When it comes to detailing; less is more. When it comes to too much talk; all I can say is that I have NO questions after watching so in this case; more IS better. Thanks Darren.
Yeah he talks alot, but he's sharing alot of info. I'm hearing lots of new interesting small details for me. Great video, I would trust my car blindly to you!
You are the best...thanks.
Great information in Detail.
Great info, thank you Darren!!!!!
just took the badges of my jeep grand Cherokee, thanks great information
Excelente Tutorial, saludos desde Ecuador
Great video, thank you!
I've just started watching these videos as I lightly update a new (used) bmw I just bought. One question, why use dental floss in lieu of fishing line? For a guy that appreciates the granular details of this stuff (which is useful, imo), I would think fishing line would be a go to for removal of this type of badging. Anyway, useful stuff. Appreciate the time and effort to share your knowledge on YT.
My 1992 chevy s 10 badge are still on the truck.but one side is start to slowly come off. Not sure I really want to take it fully off. Could I just clean under the modeling as you sayed in video and put tape back on and see if it wants to stick to the old paint. Hope to hear back from you. I hever took off moldings off before
Hey Darren, great videos! If the Rapid Remover runs down onto the chrome door strips, will it loosen or soften the adhesive on those?
They sell "label remover" sprays a lot of places. After removing the emblem, simply spray some on there to dissolve the glue, and wipe it off with a microfiber towel. Always worked well for me, only takes a couple of wipes to get the glue off. The eraser tool is probably better though, and safer for the paint
This may be an ignorant question but what about using the steamer to loosen up the emblems?
i think that that line is from the original montage
they push the badge pretty hard on the paint, maybe the hard part hits the paint before they release it
Can I get a list of tools needed, as if i have none. Ill want to do this to a couple SUVs.
Darren, is there a way to tell if the emblem is "riveted" into the panel it is on" for example; I wanted to take the emblems off my friends's car until I found out when I started taking them off they were literally anchored on the car, now there are two holes in the panel. Just wondering if there was any easy way to tell before trying to start taking the emblem off, thanks.
Hey Darren. I want to replace my Chevy emblems with black ones. I don't have an eraser tool, my question is, on the tailgate can I be as abrasive as I need to since it will be covered up anyway by a new emblem. If not what would you recommend.
For removing badge decals from painted plastic, do you still recommend using heat or is there a different technique for painted plastic?
Now I finally know what you mean by shadows from the emblems.. I just did this to a Mercedes ML320 and it sadly has the shadows after it, and there is nothing I can do, I tried polishing it, and went more and more agressive and even tried wet sanding, sadly not working.
Simon Bach that's because the rest of your car faded. You have to remove badges on a fairly young vehicle
Another awesome video, thanks for taking the time to expertly explain the process! Would magic eraser work in place of the eraser tool?
The magic eraser would just crumble apart trying to get the residue off.
Darren, I noticed this is an old video. But have you tried or what is your thought on using fishing line rather than dental floss?
+Auto Fetish Detail hey Daren i got a question is it okay to use the meguiar ultimate compound and the ultimate polish that you can find at any local walmart or autozone?
what menzerna wax do u recommend for white paint on a f250?
At 7:58 you mention a rapid remover, what product is that?
Good thing you were wearing eye protection when using the eraser tool.
Rubbing alcohol with a qtip around the edges works the best 70% rubbing acohol, no heat gun took me 10 minute's to take off GMC, and SIRERRA . No dental floss needed, using a qtip to get it down around the edges. dose not hurt the paint at all
love the sarcasm "jeweling" lol
Wht you use for wax 🤔?
That mother clean nd thank you.
if you do this often do yourself a favor and invest in a role of power pro braided fishing line thinner cuts better and will never ever break
try using 15 lb test fishing line. works like a charm, at least it did for me.
Not EVERY man is a hairy beast or he is a swimmer and waxes lol
But how to put it back?
The real question here is how does he keep his legs so smooth?! It's like the legs of a baby angel on a full grown man.
He is hairodynamocally efficient
its all those chems hes around in the shop all the time
Hey Darren. I just bought an 02 Acura RSX type S from my dad. It's a great car, but it has been severely neglected. I have watched many of your videos and used many of the recommended products for some great results. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to restore the emblems. They are chipped and the clear coat is missing from certain parts. I am on a tight budget and just looking to restore the car as best I can. Do you have any recommendations to save these emblems?
EmRe Photography Not any that I know of. You can Plasti-Dip them, paint them, or you will have to replace them.
Why don't you use fishing line instead of floss???
Would a clay bar work in removing the tape residue?
Not on them emblems I've removed. I think you would just waste a clay bar. That 3m eraser is the real deal, a bit expensive but well worth the cost if you're detailing on the side or full time.
oh okay. Thanks!
That black paint is like a mirror...dripping wet
I see everyone use floss to cut the tape, why not fishing line that will actually cut the tape and still not mess up your paint?
You let that rapid remover spray set into that chrome trim on the bottom not good.
or use twine works just as good and it don't break so easily.
Did I miss the "cut to the chase"? I think it should be that if you are a DIYer, it will cost you at least as much in product and equipment to do it yourself as it would cost to get a pro to do it properly.
Use fishing line
Hi Darren. You mention the Rapid Remover but I can't find that product on your web page. Does it have another name? Thanks
Miguel Angel El Angel de la Salsa See this page: www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/car-adhesive-remover.html
Miguel Angel El Angel de la Salsa or use WD40...
or to remove the adhesive use sun blocker or sun tan lotion with a MF (microfiber) old ; of course.
Why would you remove the Denali emblem on a Denali ?
Some people don't want the fake chrome looking decals. Auto makers need to pull themselves out of the 70s and get with the program
Jewelling is not a new term. Just means super fine polishing. Usually usimg a finer polish with a finishing pad instead of a polishing pad. On a daily driver, it's a waste of time ;)
1.5x speed 👌👌
He said epiduris
20 mins for a debagging job god dam this video shouldn’t have been more than 6-7 mins max!
Why use dental floss instead of fishing line?
Charles Godewyn well for you , use fishing line idiot , cheaper dental floss.
This guy talks way to much
did you get the point tho? then his job was accomplished
He seems to be really concerned with running his finger tips off.
I feel like I just got waterboarded
Fishing wire works a lot better than dental floss
I use fishing wire to. Dental floss rips way to easy
Which are your opinions on the Meguiar's 105?
Jose Islas I used to use Megs 105 and 205 until I discovered Menzerna polishes and have not looked back since.
wow, I didn't know Menzerna was that good, I would definitely look for Menzerna. Thanks!
you could still see sierra on the tailgate lmao
3m adhesive remover
Where can i get it the 3m adhesive recover man???
Luis Carlos autozone or amazon
When I see de-badged vehicles I think its been totaled and repaired in a Russian shop....
A 22 minute video? Really?
Jesus Christ man. Do you like listening to yourself talk? Get to the point dude!
I bet you drive a tesla
You talk too much or milk in this
