Is your mat PVC/Vinyl or Neoprene/Rubber? I love it
The best way to do duels is the way you did it, it follows the most logic as you said about mounts/lower intiative continue slapping the dead guy, so still in a duel until the end of the turn. The other way round I think is people wanting to cheese, hopefully they do a FAQ and clear it up soon.
Yeha looking forward to a FAQ to be honest
@@SNBattleReports O one more thing, you can't use shields when you use halberds, when using them as halberds they are classified as a two handed weapon. Other than that loved watching another battle report again, nice and friendly.
@@crisisgear He actually used the spears but mispoke and said halberds. He mentioned fighting in two ranks except on the charge, so that seemed clear to me.
@@guillaumedubos6596 O I thought he said why he wasn't using the spears as he charged. Thanks.
Sorry for the late jumping back in on this but the rules seem actually quite clear.
P145 dictates the steps to resolve combat. P150 "Fight On" discusses lower initiative fighters who have still to go. You do NOT get to choose who to fight again so may not change who you are attacking. If you were not eligible to fight in the challenge you don't get to do so later just because one of the challengers is now freed up. You missed your chance.
The players in this battle did it correctly as per the rules.
This was a joy to watch on the rowing machine. Great job
Thank you very much!
Sounds like a great way to watch! Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed 😊
When the duke beat the black orcs with the savage orc in the flank. The savage orcs could use the leadership of the big boss (not general) as all characters exude their leadership in an aura equal to their leadership value.
Can you provide the rulebook reference because I can only see that inspiring presence is for your general only (Pg 203)
Page 202 command range.
While every character has command range, only the general has the "Inspiring presence" ability to pass on Ld without being in a unit.
@@toms4079 yeah that doesn't confer his LD to other units. It's only inspiring presence from the general my friend.
I've been diddled in past games in this case 😅
Don't know why there's any controversy about the challenges thing, it's the same as it was in 7th and earlier (never played 8th so no idea how it worked there). It's basically a completely separate combat within a combat and is treated as such.
Another thing that is the same as it ever was is shooting: those modifiers have always been there. Bret archers are just shit, you need volume of fire at a single target and to stop moving them.
Also, when pursuing a FBIGO it's not a new combat, it's a continuation, you count as charging (and get initiative bonuses in the same way) but don't get any 'first round of combat' abilities like hatred.
Wonderful report, like always!!! I like your reports a lot. Keep on showing more Old world. 😊
Maybe the unit strength of the relic is not enough, but shouldn't the pegassi and the peasants have taken a lanic test when it was destroyed?
What turn was this buddy? Glad you are enjoying it
Turn 4 orc (Not the goblins 😅). Around 2:08:00.
@@GuCaMiniatures 😆
Oh Pardo you fool of a took!
Hahaha
why do you use blessing of the lady if I wasn't kneeling before starting the game?
I was kneeling. Lol
Name that duke Panoramix 😂😂
What a mutant knight was that ❤
😂
@@SNBattleReports I’m also very curious about the offensive format of that Duke 🤴
23:39 You are worse than Field Marshal Haig on the Somme July 1st 1916, didn't leave his office or drive to the front the whole day. Henry V is turning in his grave and he hates you.
who does the painting very good work
I painted the orc army myself. Built and painted over the course of about 18 months so I'm not overly quick haha.
Then Bretonnians we’re painted by a friend called Simon
All the rallied Bret units could have moved after rallying, unlike previous editions. That could have allowed them to move far enough out of the charge arc of the giant.
Really what page is this on my champ
@@SNBattleReports under Rallied units. "The unit cannot charge during this turn and counts as having moved for the purposes of shooting, but can otherwise act as normal." If it couldn't move, then it would have been worded as counts as having moved, rather than count as having moved for the purposes of shooting.
@@liangweihao7932 perfect 🙏🏽 thanks
Yeah this is old edition knowledge sticking in there despite my best efforts to remove it haha.
no cheating Bretonnian
😂
Bretonnia kingdom ...
The Giant attacking the Damsel shows how bad rules are in so many parts of this game - you resolve something for a few minutes, rolling and re-rolling dice and consulting tables (no player decision or action here, everything happening on autopilot, the game playing itself) and then the result is that nothing happened. It's just tedious and boring and no wonder the game is so long for how shallow it is, if half of it is employing player time and effort for zero consequences.
The armies are absolutely stunning, though!!!
Glad you liked the armies buddy. As for rules I think they have done a great job
Tbh I messed up with the giant against the damsel the first time. I shouldn't have picked up and... Because it can only be used against regular or heavy infantry.
It's not a failed charge if the charged unit flees. You move the full rolled charge move (p. 129): "If the charging unit does not make contact with the fleeing
unit, it moves forward its full charge range. It has not made a failed charge - the charge target ran away."
Thank you mate, i have completely overlooked this. Apologies for the mistake.
@@Chris_da_Waaaghno worries, even if there are some oversights (assailment spells can be cast in any close combat phase for example), no big deal. The game is new and mistakes happen.
Perfect good spot thanks 🙏🏽
@@Chris_da_Waaagh Additionally, in turn two with the multi-charge into the fleeing savage orcs; I'm fairly certain that after the flee move was taken, both units would have been allowed to attempt a redirect (if a viable target was present) and the pegasus knights would have also rolled for the charge and moved the full distance i believe. it is somewhat unclear since the rules only specifically state that multiple units charging into the same arc move simultaneously, but the charges are declared at the same time, then the charge reaction is resolved, followed by the charge(s) being resolved
Just seeing i was taking fear tests when i outnumbered the fear causer! Silly me! Also, swiftstride does come into effect dueing a FBIGO.
What a silly man
Panic checks I do believe you fall back in good order. So the units should have rallies.
Yeah we definitely missed this. We realised after... This was previous edition knowledge creeping in! Silly us!
Uuuu didn’t know this thanks
Your unit is so STUPID!!! They built a submarine with a screen door.
😆
Thank you for another brilliant Old World Battle Report! 😎
Glad you liked it ♥️
Don't know if someone has commented this already, but when you tried to cast The Lady's Gift the second time, his dispell only matched your roll. In this edition, you need to exceed the casting roll.
Didn’t it overseed with his level 3?
@@SNBattleReports I'll look back, I thought you tallied it up and it was a 7 on both sides.
The example with the hippo actually shows why it is 100% necessary to be able to reform wider. Otherwise no matter how big your unit is and expensive every monster is just killing your ass. Why? because the most likely result is fall back in good order. Which leads to the monster having the ini bonus and charge bonuses every single turn, without ever being in the open.
It just kills the fighting rank (can challenge out chars at any time and with overkill will likely win as well). Giving up your static combat res to have a chance to deal damage back (and with that also basically giving up the unit) is important to have a counter mechanism against this kind of monsters of which the hippo is one of the tamer examples...
I had literally just been thinking this exact thing as I'm watching the game myself. I actually should have reformed to create a 10 wide unit in an attempt to chip more wounds off the hippo. Completely agree with you here
Yes agreed to a certain extent if it doesn’t look silly I agree
Following up back in to combat is not counted as a new charge that's over run
@@djc1376 yeah did we miss this? There wasn't much giving ground... Just alot of pursuing from the enemy falling back in good order which does count as a charge
Yes, you did this correctly. FBIGO rules do say the pursuer counts as charging. The follow up into a unit giving ground does not count as charging.
Want the green boyz to win.. Its going to be those Brets
Enjoy 🔥
Chris seemed a very knowlegable player and honorable also. (Why did u accept that challenge mate?)
I think the narrative side within him said yes
Yeah, the Warboss would rather die in glorious combat rather than allow a meagre champion to show him up lol
23:35 You have the tactical mind of a peasant. *Said in a knightly superior tone*
😂
Great way to start a Sunday!
Enjoy!
nice. black orcs and savage orcs. my favorite.
The best!
Both armies looking amazing, keep up the great work covering the old world 👍
That's the plan!
You can't target models in close combat but you can hit them with scattered AOE, cannon shot, etc so I don't see why the spell would be any different.
MM can't normally select a unit in combat as a target, but that spell never actually selects a target. The Skaven Lightning Cannon shoots the same way.
You can't hit units engaged in melee with cannon shots
Says on page 202 in the rulebook that the characters and the mounts use their own weapons. So its correct that magic weapons are only to the wielder, and not the mount👍
Love seeing the Boyz come out to play. And honestly right now Orcs are my favorite army (the one I’m painting up) and the Brets are my second and I plan on collecting them over the next couple of years.
Love your battle reports guys.
Perfect game for you then 🙌🏽
@@SNBattleReportsOk, after finally finishing this video the Bret player had the luckiest armor save rolls I have ever seen. Just god level. I actually got frustrated for the poor Orc player. He just kept up a good attitude and played on. Definitely sign of a great player.
So glad he got that win by just toughening it out. Great game.
I’m also sold on the Hippogryph.
Orcs!!!!!’ WAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.
Obviously Green is best and green wins
Waaaghhhh!
You are awesome guys your work is amazing on the old world
Thanks so much!
in the first combat with the duke he killed the champion in a duel, so the champion attacked twice from the dead xD. Also when a bretonnian unit flees it loses the blessing, including the damsel
I don’t understand what you mean with the first combat. Yes you lose BotL correct sir
Black orc champion was killed in a challenge by the duke during his very first charge, he then attacked twice over later turns. You simply forgot he was dead.
Oh did we... Damn it if we did lol!
@@guillaumedubos6596 bahahaha this is actually funny 😆
I don't know if anyone else has said this, but assailment spells are cast every turn you are in combat. Pg 108 of the rulebook describes when a spell can be cast, and assailment spells say "can be cast when wizard fights IN ANY combat phase."
i loved the battle report, but actually you cannot have 2x Knight errants units if you don't have 2x Realm units
Yes was told thanks! Good spot
I'd love to see the orcs win, but I think it'll be the Bretonnians cuz they seem like the tougher overall faction, and don't have as many finicky rules.
Honest thoughts; half of the battle report was great, and the other half was just ruined for me personally by the Duke on Hippogriff. As an observer, knowing it is worth a lot of points, it takes away from the fantasy of rank and flank.
Thank you for the battle report, looking forward to more, even with my disliking of HeroHammer.
Thanks buddy! But I think you need to start getting used to it as it’s a very hero hammer addition with dragons being front line in all armies
Is there a reason you chose not to go with lance formation on the 10 strong unit? I can understand it probably doesn’t make a huge difference to the 6 strong units.
I always root for greenskins but I think the fancy boys are going to take come out from behind the lady's skirts and take this one. Thanks for the battle report, can't wait to see what happens!
Enjoy! ❤️
Orc chariots have warband and and can reroll charges
Perfect thanks Steve!!
Doh... So they do! Although if this is for the peasant bowmen, when they fled they were outside of my max charge range anyway so wouldn't have mattered, but still.. you are right 😊
I wonder if you were to field more cavalry units that that might mean you would be better off with the lance formation as one of its benefits would be to make charging more than one unit of cavalry into the same target easier? At the moment you've got quite a lot of infantry for a Bretonnia army and perhaps as you find more opponents allocating their attacks properly as Chris did and so eliminating the grail monks that you will find the men-at-arms less effective and start replacing some of them? Of course it may be that they continue to do a good job a lot of the time as Black Orcs were always going to be too much for them, I wouldn't be too surprised to see similar outcomes for the monks and resultant breaking quite often though. I realise Chris almost missed out on getting the monk the first time though I think he could have allocated another attack or two into him if he hadn't checked his rules and found he didn't need to so would probably have killed him anyway.
@41:10 Can't do the pivot if you Marchhed, Charged, or Fled unfortunately.
I don't have any answers to stuff Pardo asked but I'll comment just for the algorithm
Yeyyyy
Brilliant as always lads!
Thank you sir
I used to like Chris, but now I hate him for the white flag joke.
😆
😂 I sincerely apologise haha.
I love your old world battlereport!:)
Thank you very much! Make sure you share 😊
Guys I just noticed, at 54:29 duke strike back at I 8, but he doesn’t charged this turn because it was orc turn! Am I wrong?🤔
Chris, you are paragon of knowing the rules but not taking advantage of them, and playing the game the way it should be played
I still have a fair bit to learn but I thoroughly appreciate the compliment, thank you
@@Chris_da_Waaagh well I'd far rather play someone who know some of the rules and plays fair, than someone who knows them all and games them
This battle just reinforced why I am on the fence about the Grail Monk. They are really costly and vs a smart enemy can be targeted out of the unit.
Agreed!
Awesome battle report, Chris and Pardo! And great looking battlefield and armies!
I know the game already lasted super long, but I think the Brets could have also killed enough models in their last turn to break the Orcs (And then end the game in a tie, I guess?).
After destroying the chariot, the Duke could overrun 3D6, which puts him in charge range into the rear of the last Black Orc block for the last turn. Since it'd be a rear charge, he can't be tied up in a challenge by the unit Champion or Boss, therefore allowing him to kill as many models as possible. At the same time in the last turn, the 4 Pegasus knights could charge the savage orc unit. With these two favorable charges, the Brets should kill enough models to brings the Orcs below their breaking point.
But an absolutely amazing battle nontheless! Love your Old World content!
Yeah could have happened for sure! But he would have broke point first anyway and the game finishes straight away there. Glad you enjoyed the game so much
Characters can make way into the fighting rank, so the duke could have been tied up in a challenge.
@@guillaumedubos6596Oh true. That's kinda wild that characters are allowed to be moved into contact immediately even when their unit is charged into the rear rank. So there's no way to evade a powerfull character in a unit even for a single round of combat
Green is DA BEST!! Ah'nd always wins!
Enjoy 🔥
Ok I’ll bite. I want for the Bretonnians to win and I think that they will 😄 (commenting before watching as you suggested)
😢 😂
For the lady!
@@Chris_da_WaaaghFinally finished the video. Congratulations on the win! Wonderful list with the amped up Black Orks! You definitely deserved the win. And you were a great opponent with stellar sportsmanship! Here’s to many more games! 🍻
@@Angeloflight444 thanks mate, really glad you enjoyed it. Because I used old world builder to make my list I forgot that only 1 unit of black orcs could be stubborn! Doh.. anyway, hopefully it didn't take away from the game. Loved playing it.
@@Chris_da_Waaagh Nah, I don’t think it took anything away! It’s a complicated game for sure. Sometimes I think they might need to streamline some stuff but then again that would maybe take away customization options for the player.
Acording to FAQ if enemy falls back in good order you count as charging but IT is same combat so you do not get rerols from haterd and other usr working only in first turn of combat
Correct we didn’t know until after the game which is great
Lovely game, nice armies, nice terrain... but why, when a unit is reduced to a few models, like 3 or less, don't you just remove the ugly big movement tray sticking out? Not really needed anymore. Like others, I find the effectiveness of super-tooled up lorda on monsters a bit tedious... everybody wants them, because, nice model, etc... but they already an obvious pick... I'll just limit them to larger games, say 2500+ pts, so they lead larger armies. I like fighting with the rank and file... also agree, archery seems a bit weak atm...
Well many of the models are not based correctly so need the filler in the trays to have correct size. Glad you enjoyed the game
This is why I bought my adaptor trays in single ranks, so that when a rank is completely destroyed I can remove the adaptor tray 😊
Wonderful report in general! A bit long but there was so much going on! Wishes for you to continue and always enjoy what you do 😊
Thank you! Yes very long took us 7 hours to record 😯
@@SNBattleReports OMG 😳! That’s a lot! Perhaps it would take less if a third person was shooting or if you used extra cameras? Of course it would then be a different format but you could still use some handheld footage too. Just some random thoughts, I’ve never done anything like that so I don’t have first hand experience. Just sharing a few thoughts. 🙂
Thank you again for a wonderful report! 🙂
@@Angeloflight444 very difficult to get a extra guy in when nobody does this ful time problem is also more cameras is more work
@@SNBattleReports I see. Thank you for your reply 🙂. It helps to know some of the inner workings of how you guys make things.
I think after you kill the challenger the other attacks go away. Since it was a “challenge” and you killed him, it won’t spill over. I feel like that defeats the whole purpose of the challenge.
To cast spells they need to be within your arc of sight but to not need line of sight unless specified
Thanks Champ was s bit confused when recording
I'd tend to think the challenge ends when one combatant dies/verminous valors/etc
FBIGO is a flee move so swiftstride applies
Lovely brettonians!
Thank you very much
Lovely models guys
They are!
I love seeing the Bretonnians on the field. All the knights look amazing!
Thank you very much
Definitely not a fan of rolling a dice to decide if he can shoot his magic missile and then you changing your mind! It’s not targeting a unit so he can shoot it wherever, even hitting his own troops I imagine. Love your reports nonetheless! Chris you seem like a great sport to play against!
Thanks, but as much as I would have liked to have done it, it's always better to give the benefit to the opponent if I'm unsure. I think there's probably a general consensus now that it can be done... So Ill do it next time 😊
A magic MUST target a unit (it's in the rule of magic misile). The fact than you draw a line to know how many hits you get dont change the nature of the spell (a magic missile). In my mind they have made the good choice. You can't target a unit engaged in close combat so your magic missile can't target them.
Timely! TY
Black Ork x2
Hate Brettonia 🤔
Sad times…
Nothing sad about that.
Brettonia now just go all fly monsters and Knights.
And maybe some cheap large inf unit. They are incredible boring to battle.
Just my 2cents 🤔

Bretonnia for the win today, the charge of the knights breaking the orcs
🛡️ 🔥
Shooting is a tricky thing, it seems like it's either too powerful or luck luster. I don't know what would be good solution. I think that as always the best position would be if they were really good but hard to use, so for example if bowmen would be really good but only in certain positions that is hard to achieve then good player could use them, and good opponents deny them. But is easier say than done.
We need a cap on 2 modifiers
We also need archers to be able to fire over units with a modifier
@@SNBattleReportsI might be to ambitious but I would like to have at least 3 types of projectile units with different strengths and weaknesses. For example bretonian archers would be a typical attrition unit, as you pointed they can shoot over units, cap at -2, long as range (I would go longer that 75cm) they don't make much damage but the chip constantly 2-3 wound and their damage input is almost constant since they will have long range and shoot over units.
On the other hand gunner could be shock type missile weapon, great damage output, low range, can't shoot over units, the player then would need to expertly position then since they have a narrow window of opportunity to achieve their goal, but if used correctly they have 1 o 2 round were they could make the difference if they target the correct enemy.
Well I can dream I guess...
Hello buddy, just a note on the giant attacks, he can only pick up infantry.
Yes we saw after! Thanks! Good thing it didn’t happen
Haha, yes indeed!
Great battle report! Regarding the deployment criticism, I feel like you took it really well and made the intro + deployment much more interesting.
Thanks 🙏🏽 good criticism is always good
Absolutely love the trees. Are they made from real roots/plants?
Yes sir! 😃
Orcs win (thats because I play 40K Orcs)
Haha Waaagghhh
Pardo's choice to blasphemously use standard formation instead of the glorious Lance combined with his forgetting to pray before rolling means he should be exiled!
Next game, he should definitely use a Bretonnian Exiles army as penance!
Haha I’m actually building a cannon so….
Any army of Black Orcs? They can't lose!
Haha
I'm fairly sure that Earthen Rampart should have gone off in turn 1, level 3 adds 3 to the dice roll and orcs have a rule where their orc casters get mob rule +1if the unit strength is 10 or more.
Hey mate sadly not. The shaman has to be in a unit of 10 or more orcs for him to get the +1. And because of the flying carpet, I couldn't join a unit.
Chris just answered that for us both 😆
@@Chris_da_Waaagh Ah good shout somehow i forgot about that.
Brettonians will outmanoeuvre the orcs and win.
🙌🏽
@2:35:41 When a Unit Panics from being Fled Through it will flee feom the nearest enemy unit. If the unit that Paniced is above half strength this is a Fall Back in Good Order.
Note that FBIGO is a Flee, with the only exceptions being the distance and that the unit automatically rallies at the end. Otherwise the unit moves as if Fleeing and will cause Panic in units nearby or Fled through. You seemed to have some questions about this at some points, so that might clear it up.
@2:43:38 Attacks with Multiple Wounds do count the full Wounds they caused in a challenge for Overkill.
Chris it's the most honourable orc fighter 😍 brilliant battle report guys, great attitude from both of you. Keep it up, definitely following you guys and binging your content 🤣
My guess is that the Orcs are going to win. I don't like orcs or that orc list but when compared to that horrendous Brettonian list they're amazing. I don't understand this 'testing' since its clear that you're just nerfing yourself by using weak units and weaker formations. Oh well, I'm about to see the result so maybe the Bretonnians can hold.
Saw the conclusion. Of course Bretonnians lost. I guessed it. The coping at the end about the formations was funny.
Loving the old world content and i hope its doing good for the channel. Thanks so much guys
Glad you enjoy it!
Remember to take Panic checks when units Flee a combat (Break or FBIGO). When the Knights lost the first combat I believe the Men at Arms were within 6" to take a Panic check.
love this french knignts !!

wonderfully painted armies!
Thank you very much
knight not in lance formation...the lady is sad trying different stuff is all well and good but )im typing this as you deploy) any bad luck is because of your lack of lance formation. thanks for another old world video, thank you. orcs will win.
re: gaze of gork, given that it mentions hitting your own units, I'd lean towards allowing it to be fired into combat, even if other magic missile spells generally cant be.
@52:45 I think you could have used Stubborn, it says that the Unit can "choose not to (make a Break test)" and instead Fall Back in Good Order.
Chariot wouldn’t be impetuous so close to the Black Orcs
Why is this?
True.. black orcs have quell impetuosity. Didn't matter anyway tbh
Saludos cordiales 😃😁😅😂
Hola 👋🏽
re: the black orc charge at 46mins; didn't y'all say something about rerolling 1s on a waaagh?
You can 100% use gaze of gork against units in combat just like with cannons
Orks will win
You can only take 1 unit of black orcs in the entire army with stubborn but for 50pt you could get the second unit but never the third. Great batrep!
Ahh yes of course! Curse of the army building app haha. You are definitely right. Hopefully it didn't take away from the game much and hope you enjoyed 😊
