So glad to see this one went live - it's a fantastic piece of work by you and the team. Hearing you tell the story, the decision to bid away WarShips was one of the major points that stood out to me. Sure, clan mechs had a significant advantage over IS equivalents, but it was still a gap between mechs. When it came to warships, the IS in this period didn't have much of an answer or equivalent (converting fighters into kinetic penetrators aside). Even beyond that incident though, it seems that the Clans never fully leveraged the potential of their Warships earlier in the campaign either. You talk about the ease with which the IS could (comparatively) produce and ship replacements - but I imagine that would have been at least somewhat harder if the the Clan fleet had been used more proactively as a tool in and of itself. Then again, perhaps that 'what if' - what if the Clans actually leveraged their massive tech advantage in Space Combat in a more wide ranging, strategic, fashion - ultimately runs into a simple problem. If they'd used them that way, would they even be the Clans of that era anymore?
The main question would have been: where would the warships get their maintenance from? The Clans don't own yardships. If just one kamikaze can penetrate the bridge I can for see a quick end to any big Warship operation (except in big groups). Plus: what's to stop the IS to just throw caution to the wind and use stockpiled nukes to destroy the "planetkillers"? For all their technological and genetical advances IS pilots are better then their Clan counterparts and if just a couple of fighter pilots armed with nukes penetrate the defense the Clans can wave their ships good bye. Or use Dropships as a sort of Fireships like the Taurians did during the Reunification War. And unlike the old Star League the Clans can't easily replace lost Warships

Some time in Battletech's distant past, driven by untold hours watching super robot media, a mech scientist has successfully convinced his directors to incorporate fully articulate hands and kinetic dampeners into their mech's arms, enabling it for 'ammo-independant close quarters combat'. The directors did however veto the need to shout the attack's name into the pilot console in order to perform a melee attack.

Okay, I want everyone to picture Kerensky finding Van Zandt during the Exodus and thinking "Oh hey, we can stop here for a bit, relieve some stress." and after getting bad service his XO then informs him they have an entire continent on this planet that is dedicated to growing corn and cocaine... corn.... and cocaine. Never been prouder to be a part of any group. Laying here tonight in Asheville NC, frustrated I couldn’t watch this live cuz hurricane, but so excited to finally get to do so. 🫡 Mr Tex and all the rest of you titans for this fantastic distraction
Kai at this point in his life is dealing with an inferiority complex the size of an Atlas as well as impostor syndrome. Things he would not finally begin to overcome until near the end of the war when he, funny enough, ends up having to work with a group of Jade Falcon Elementals to rescue POWs from Comstar. The “Blood of Kerensky Trilogy” are the books you are looking for in regards to these stories
I *love* the dialogue in the ComStar cells. I don't have the exact verbage memorized, but, the surviving elementals are talking about how they would have bid a star of 'mechs to capture him. Deidre then promptly drops the bomb of who he is, and one of the elementals promptly changes the bid to 3 stars.
Yep! One of my favorite moments in the book. She accidentally drops his name and they say they should have bid 2 stars, then she drops the bomb about him beating 5 out of 6 opponents in that mock Trial of position with the Wolf Dragoons, and they loose their minds and the one says “3 stars, definitely 3 stars”, or something to that effect. Was quite an entertaining exchange.

I got into Battletech in 2016. I watched as the game went from something I struggled to find groups for to something that two gaming stores in my town run games for twice a week. I remember my first Tex Talks video, the Awesome one from like 5 or 6 years ago. I work as a janitor for Fort Carson in Colorado now. I listening to Tex Talks during my shifts has often helped me keep my sanity as I clean the sauna or the locker room or the running tracks. I've even gotten co-workers into the game thanks to me showing them Tex Talks. Thanks to the BPL and Tex for everything.
I always wondered as I used to be active duty army at fort campbell but are you tech contracted by fort Carson as a civilian contractor then being a janitor? Or is it like working at a PX as a normal employee.
@@Jaxon_JR_Reign The contract is held by the company I work for, Pueblo Diversified Industries. So I'm a civilian custodian hired through PDI to work their contract with the military. I think the technical term is civilian contractor but it feels weird since I'm not the one holding the contract.

Sorry Tex, Theodore did not officially take the throne as Coordinator until 3054, after Takashi's seppuku. At Wolcott, his rank was Gunjei-no-Kanrei (Deputy for Military Affairs). I will however admit that he was Coordinator in all but name as he had effectively sidelined Takashi. References The Warriors of Kerensky Trilogy and Heir to the Dragon.
And by those books Wolcott was closer to minutes than hours due to the completeness of the ambush, Smoke Jaguar hadn't realized they held Theodore until after his escape, and Tyra's wingmate was ordered away and survived her attack run requiring the jump ship to not have left yet. Since Tex is canonically telling the story in the Periphery years later, I take it more as propaganda spread or the classic "ComStar misinformation". It certainly makes for a good retelling
This is my favourite video of 2024. I'm in a bad spot right now, and this helped me forget about it all for two tightly-written and incredibly entertaining hours. My compliments to everyone involved in this monolith of a project. Thank you. EDIT: I just rewatched the whole damn thing for the second time in 24 hours. Exact same emotional response, grinning ear to ear, followed by immediate elation by the casual mention at the end of the credits - as a massive fan of That Mech, I'm beyond ecstatic.
Sorry to hear things are going poorly for you. If it helps, the biggest takeaway from this episode is that a turnaround that puts you back on your feet is never impossible. Here's hoping you don't have to go as far as burying an army of Clanners under a mountain to make that happen - but then again, if that's what it takes, then so be it and may your enemies learn to fear you.
Excellent work as always boys. Not that it was ever in doubt. Some people watch for the memes, some for the lore. I watch because there are just _so many_ layers in every line and delivery. Keep putting in the work Tex & Co.; it does not go unappreciated.
This was an actual movie, the beauty of the music, the visuals, the way the story was paced. This is quality over quantity at it's finest. All the artists outdid themselves and the editing was so fluid it's shocking how much this little series has expanded to this level of production. Bravo!
That depiction of Kai's Batchall was killer and the invasion overview was the best one I've ever seen! Loved all the Stompy-warbot community member cameos. Saw what you did with playing Absalom Truscott

I survived contact with the Van Zandt Free State Militia once. We were allies. To be fair to them, they're still shipping me the amount of C-Bills it would take to replace my mech in flats of corn and corn-adjacent products. And if you go to the right places, that stuff sells like gold. I'll be able to retire next month because of that, but I still give them a cut to show I have no hard feelings towards them. Not sure why they wanted me to send the C-Bills to their base on the second moon instead of the planet capital itself, but whatever. Seriously, thanks Tex and everyone who contributed to this video. Some interesting aftermaths of the battle of Twycross: The Falcon guard was rebuild but this time filled with the dregs of the Falcon touman. Freebirths, malcontents and solahma. But under the command of Aidan Pryde the unit redeemed itself on Tukayyid before it was again destroyed by the Lyrans (on Tywcross no less) during the Falcon incursion of 3065 Alder Malthus bloodname was so "tainted" no other Mechwarrior wanted to compete for it so an Elemental by the name of Taman took it. Ulric Kerensky himself was appaled that anyone wanted this particular bloodname but he would be proven wrong when Taman bested Kai in an unaugmented duel on Alyina in 3052 before both men allied to free Alyina from Comstar. Taman would become a hero among the Falcons esepcially during the Jihad but he would also become good friends with Kai as both saw the other as honroable warriors worthy of respect

Chills, dude.

Two questions:
1: Can you leave that Mad Cat over there alone? I need some parts to fix my unit that I got in battle.

If it helps, the biggest takeaway from this episode is that a turnaround that puts you back on your feet is never impossible. Alder Malthus bloodname was so "tainted" no other Mechwarrior wanted to compete for it so an Elemental by the name of Taman took it. Ulric Kerensky himself was appaled that anyone wanted this particular bloodname but he would be proven wrong when Taman bested Kai in an unaugmented duel on Alyina in 3052 before both men allied to free Alyina from Comstar.
