High elf archers should certainly have tested panic when the giant ran down the spearmen.
Double one on break test means they just give ground, no auto break. It's in the break test section of combat.

The high elf special rule does not give rerolls to break test tho. So ended upp with a somewhat correct result.

There is no limit on disspells (if you're in range), so in the 1st turn the 2nd spell could have been disspelled aswell. Also there is always the faithed dispell

Ithilmar Weapons don't work with Lances unfortunately. So you only reroll 1s when using (single) Hand Weapon. For Dragon Princes, this is basically when you don't charge - on subsequent rounds of combat or if enemy charged you.
Curse of years is not remains in play and thus cannot be dispelled by your opponent during his turn. You can only dispel Remains in play spells.
Stubborn is a fall back in good order

Hi, random collection of mistakes on rules that others didn't already pick up. Otherwise, keep up the good work!
Failed charges move forward by the value of the "charge roll". It could be more explicit, but the "charge distance" is the movement + charge roll.
So when you fail a charge, you only move the result of the die (dice with Swiftstride), without adding your movement.
"If a model is able to fight but is not in base contact with an enemy model, it can make only one attack, regardless of its Attacks characteristic". One attack per model in the fighting rank, you pick one of your choice from any attack on the model (whether it's a charioteer, a monstrous something, or a big character on some mount that can still join a unit).
It's one of the many features that limits insane levels of damage output, and reduces the appeal of one giant block of death.
Lance are AP -2 (And Bane 1), no saves on that scorpion
Don't think that magic missile could have hit the White Lions from behind the Warsphinx. You need LOS for Magic Missiles and Vortices
Anyone has to test to restrain from following-up or pursuing, being Impetuous has no impact on this.
Not that it mattered with the roll anyway, but WS 4 vs 6 (reduced white lions) is still 4+. Needs to be more than twice for 5+, just like it's a 2+ to hit the other way around
When you annihilate a unit in combat (Phoenix vs Chariots), you get to restrain & reform or overrun & try to reform (as if you caught a fleeing unit)
(Could I recommend using a fixed cam with an overview of the battlefield? I know it might not be an available resource, but it's much more enjoyable to spectate)

@@wiggy357 Yeah, I've played Warhammer Ancient Battles a lot, and many rules are taken from there. So I'm quite familiar with it and it was an easy adjustment :)

I may be wrong but something else that may be relevant is that musician adds +1 to battle res if the opponent doesn't have a musician, s0 those fights with the giant and scorpion would have had different results

It will probably help you and others watching and learning to correctly say that the net Combat Result ADDS TO THE ROLL and not that it subtracts from Leadership.
This distinction is important when effects like Terror and spells modify the Leadership of a unit which does affect the point at which they Break and Flee as opposed to FBIGO.
I hear people say "unmodified Leadership" when checking for FBIGO and I know what they are saying, but it's not actually the "unmodified Leadership" since any (now very powerful) Leadership modifiers applied to the Unit do apply.
The terrain is dope! Keep on bringing the big things! Its sad there was no fight in it, but still sick! Very cool. Best old world Battlereport channel there is out there

Great Battlereport, I love your ToW Battle Reports the most on whole UA-cam, keep going! :) One rule thing I noticed and didnt see in the comments yet: Stand and shoot casualties count towards combat res. You forgot in the fight between the seaguard and the riders. Not does it what have mattered though... ;D

The "insane bravery" thing you were looking for is on page 154, "If the modified result is equal to or lower than the unit’s Leadership, or if the roll is a natural double 1, the unit Gives Ground."
But you also did a reroll from Valour of Ages which doesn't help on Break tests, so it's moot anyways

Genuine question as I’m new to the game. The cavalry movement trays put a gap between bases which aren’t normally there? Is that something to consider? Does it affect gameplay and are they legal? They look good, just unsure

1:53:09 page 97 under leadership test: a roll of a double one is always considered a pass, also since valour of ages doesn't let you re-roll break test that just compensate...

Hello :) I believe you would have had more volley fire shots @ 58:36 . The rule simply states "half of each rank beyond the first" in this case. So it would have been an extra 8 or so not 3

Great looking board/terrain and armies! I think you made some rule errors throughout the game but recognized most of them a few miniutes later and corrected them. Still a new game, so it'll take some time to get all the new rules right

This match was a great showcase on what not to do in the movement phase from the Tomb Kings side. So many bad decisions lol

Question which maybe someone can help with. If a charavter has a special rule which impacts how the character can act if they are mounted can they still use it.
Specific example. Orc warboss has warband (reroll charge distance). If they were to be on a chariot or even better a wyvern would that still apply
It would apply unless there is something specific in the mounts rules that counteract it.

Great work guys, at 1:04:46 the Phoenix gets no closed order bonus as you need to have more than 1 model in the unit for that to apply. Keep the great reports coming 😊❤
The Phoenix is a monstrous creature so it gets Lumbering, so it counts as close order even with one model.

Btw a question about Daemons. Does Slaanesh +1" bonus on Charge/Pursuit rolls also work on Counter Charge? In other words does a Counter Charge roll count as a Charge roll, even if it's only D3+1"?
Hmmm just reading the rule again I’m not sure they would - reason I say that is because it is it’s own special rule called ‘Counter Charge’ which has specific instructions in what to do in certain scenarios. If it had said ‘you also make a charge move’ then I’d say yes as it’s a standard charge - however it only says ‘both units are ‘considered’ to have charged’

Definitely interested more in narrative campaigns than in constant battle reports. Mixing up games with twists and turns and storytelling is always quite interesting.

30:00 am I remembering or does swift stride only increase the maximum charge by d3 so as he got a 6 on the first dice he would have had to have rolled a 6 for that increase for the additional 3 to count?

Volley fire is half of ranks beyond first (or first two if on hill). So shooting those Lothern Sea Guard in 5x4 would be 4 + (5/2=)3 + 3 + (4/2=)2 = 12 shots

Would the stomp attacks of the Scorpion not have the killing-blow special rule also? I dont see a reason why killing blow would not count for it as the stomp attack is an attack made in combat like the killing blow rule requires? 🙂

Wow that was brutal! Poor Tomb Kings lol. Didn't get a single charge off with their chariots (which is like 90% of their damage), the Giant lost vs simple line infantry and the ten Horse Riders were just fed into the woodchipper. ASF on a combat character seems a bit overpowered.
As you said in the end, the Tomb King list was quite poor on damage. Get some Tomb Guard, get that BSB for the sweet Indomitable and LD rerolls on My Will Be Done and Arise and then kick some smug High Elf butt!

Drop the Giant. Seriously it's so bad it's not even funny. It has just too few attacks for it to reliably trigger it's extra attacks after killing a model. It'll hit most stuff on a 4+ but it's so slow that most units will get their damage in before he can swing. And most infantry has like 3-4 static combat res from ranks, banner and so on that the Giant will just crumble to dust.
My main aim for the early game was to try and stop the possibility of impact hits, so closing the chariots down quickly was essential.
@@wiggy357 Aye you did that really well! It was just a bit frustrating to see him going "Yeah, I don't want the DPs to charge my Chariots. But let me put them within their possible charge distance anyway." Whelp, learning through pain I guess. Undead REALLY need to be charging because of their low ini and chariots doubly so to get their impact hits and improved spear attacks. With reserve move and open order those chariots are very nimble and should get flank charges off or at least dictate where and when they charge.
Looking forward to when the Tomb Kings get some more heavy hitting units!
Don't forget stand and shoot kills count for combat res and Ithilmar Weapons is just for hand weapons

When a unit is wiped out in combat, the winning side has to either overrun or restrain and reform. Always. So in turn 3 the phoenix would have to move or reform after it destoyed the chariots, the same for the dragon princes destroying the tomb scorpion.
* 1 attack on suporting attack
* stand and shoot count towards combat results
* itmar weapons don't count on Lance
* voli fier is every rank not only the first 2 and sorting a large target allows you to shoot the full first 2 rankes
Impetuous is not Frenzy; it only makes you roll 4+ at start of turn to have to charge. Dragon Princes could have stayed in front of the Scorpion and then charged. Also, people mentioned it before, but Lances are AP2, AB(1), so that Scorpion should've died in first combat. Then again, you have been rerolling 1s for them so I guess it evens out.
They still have to test to restrain, but yeah the scorpion should have been dead already
