Hey friends!! I’m sooo happy with my curly girl method transformation! Also, thank you for informing me about DevaCurl, I talk about what’s been going on with them and why I’m no longer using their products at 29:50 😊
@@BatyBug long story short, the no poo line is causing hair damage and loss. They think it's the no poo line but its recommended to quit all products. A lawsuit is currently in progress.
I did this for Mother’s Day with my mom! I had pictures of my mom and her late mom and recreated them with myself and her. They were so awesome, and it was a surprise.
It's cause your hair is heavy and weighing down the top of your hair (makes hair look like a triangle). It looks more even when you get a layered hair cut
Jackie Olivia yes. I just stopped using it last week after a year and a half on, after seeing all the videos of damage and lawsuits..... and the difference I’m seeing already is crazy. I thought I had a thyroid issue or something because my hair was falling out and thin and damaged
I’m on day 7 and struggling so much I washed yesterday and it is horrible I have to wash again today I can’t work with it looking so greasy so I think no curl cream just gel I’ll let you know how it goes cause it was not great yesterday just frizzy
This! I just replaced all my products with briogeo products and did my washday with them yesterday. Love it so far so I’ll see how I’ll like these products a couple washes in. Also wanna try some jessicurl products next I think 😊
Ahhh I’ve been waiting for this 😻 so excited for you!! This looks beautiful. After only 30 days your transformation is amazing. You looks beautiful with your hair both ways, but I LOVE the waves on you. Keep crushing it wavy Queen 👑
Quick tip: something that helps me with frizz is holding the diffuser over a section of hair for longer periods of time instead of switching positions every few seconds.
I really really recommend using more gel and scrunching in the gel while it’s a lot more wet. I know it seems scarier than creams but it’ll definitely give you much more curl definition
this is what i do. Minimal drying when im out of the shower. Turn my hair over and scrunch in lots of gel. Works every time! Surprisingly i use the diva curl brand gel and never leaves it with nasty crunchies.
Yes! Gotta make a gel cast, I was scared of that 90s crunchy curl, but just look up “gel cast” and “scrunch out the crunch”. You end up with soft beautifully defined curls and waves!
Do you know what the best way is to use gel? I have thick curly hair and I use curl cream and leave in conditioner which I love but when I try to put gel in my hair when it’s damp out the shower I can never scrunch it out the next day so I get clumps of sticky hair or white residue from the gel even if I just use a small amount
CatEyes1993 her order of operations is incorrect as well, as in the order in which she applies products. I’ve been on my CG journey now for 3+ years. It takes time and experimentation to get your products and methods correct for your hair.
cobaltmarin hmm it might depend what gel you’re using, I’ve also never personally tried scrunching out the crunch the day after I wash it. I always wash and apply gel in the morning and scrunch out the crunch the same day. Sorry if that doesn’t help you but if you go to the curly girl subreddit there are soo many experienced people who would be able to give you advice!
Frizz free is achievable, it’s just expensive as hell and time consuming. I have zero frizz, but I also get treatments at the salon at least once and month and it takes hours.
idk i have super curly hair and no frizz. my secret is using a straight hair keratin shampoo and conditioner. i think theres a lot of curly girls out there that get really good curls without frizz. I think it just depends on your hair
My hair always has a little frizz and when she said that it kind of made me frustrated. Curly hair is not frizz free unless you really want to put some money into it..
Frizz is just part of having curly hair 🤷🏻♀️ especially after a few days . It’s okay though . Just embrace it ! I use Shea moisture oil to help with shine and helps the frizz a bit
I love it whenever a person accepts their curly hair. I never straightened my hair but I also didn't follow any curly hair techniques or routines. So I had like a hair nest of frizz. I had sort of accepted my hair was gonna be forever that ugly. Until I discovered curly girl method. I get so many compliments now, and other curly girls ask for tips.
Hey so as someone who has had curly hair when I was younger then brushed it out for years. I have been trying to repair it and I was wondering what shampoo and conditioner you would recommend
@@christinamelchiors7752 not the OG comment but look for products on your area that are CGM approved, I recommend checking insta and fb groups (Curly Girl Method Uncensored is my fave)~
With all the controversy with DevaCurl I would not recommend using it! Shae moisture and Cantu have some great products to substitute any DevaCurl products! *Watch till the end! She goes over this!* Btw, I love using Renpure Originals for Shampoo and Conditioner!
MyChannel true! But they have some silicone free products too, plus if you do cleanses at least once a week, it shouldn’t be a problem. The process to finding what works with your hair is a long journey...trust me!
When you use the diffuser, keep the dryer off until it is at your scalp, blast the air for a bit, then turn it back off when you pull it away from your hair - that minimizes frizz from the dryer.
It’s always like playing a mystery game 😂 Especially on wash day - Seeing what your curls need (moisture vs protein), how it dries, and how it reacts with the weather 🤪
Whatever you do don’t get a perm. It was the worst mistake. It was 2 years in January since I had it and I finally cut the rest of it out! I followed th curly girl method to keep it looking good but I still never liked it and it was a lot more work. I’m thankful for my pin straight hair back lol
I think your frustration with the frizz is just damaged hair that won’t revert- you’ll just have to let it grow out. And maybe implement silicones back into your routine, but sparingly
limergreenlover Yea she definitely has heat damage. I think she said she’s been straightening it for years plus 😹 I don’t even think those waves are her real texture due to her constant heat use. Idk like you said she needs to grow it outtt 30 days of a routine will not show drastic changes
Not necessarily. I mean, I’m sure she has some heat damage, but my hair personally gets very frizzy no matter what I do, and I hardly ever use heat on it. So it could just be the texture of the hair, But like you said, she needs to grow it out and see.
I have a lot of frizz with curls and dont use heat on my hair at all anymore, it's been about 5 years. I only wash once a week because otherwise it's worse. Some people just have more frizz.
@@skylardaniels3791 It can also be the products people use. Like I just used a new spray on my hair for frizz and the last time I used it. It made my hair frizzy and it did this time as well. Which is why I'll probably go back to other stuff.
Omg the entire time, I was thinking "she just needs to flip upside down and use a strong hold gel and it won't be frizzy" lmao. Love it, looks great Sierra!
@@EmilyAnna0912 I've used a bunch but the Tresseme's strongest hold is the one that I've been using for years now. Tresseme also has a "flawless curls" mouse that I love. Those are the only 2 products I use.
I think a lot of people comment AS they are watching. Devacurl is fucking terrible and thank god people mention that in the comments instead of just assuming everyone will watch for a full 25 minutes before they get a disclaimer in the video. It’s pretty irresponsible to leave this in without adding a disclaimer in the beginning that she DOES NOT RECOMMEND DEVACURL TO ANYONE. I’d even blur out the name just to be sure no one saw me holding that product and got inspired to purchase it straight away....
I have curly hair too and my hair gets like that where the top layer looks flat. So what I learn is I part my hair the opposite way I usually part it, let my hair air dry and once is dry I part my hair again the way I usually do and it's super pretty, very curly and looks healthier. Everytime I do that people always compliment my hair.
Girl! There is a word for that, your hair is currently “wurly” - a mix of curly and wavy ;) and as you progress in your hair routine journey, it will probably change again :)
There is an app called Think Dirty that rates the how “clean”’ products are. You should check it out when trying something new. DevaCurl does have a really bad rating on there.
Totally get everyone criticizing devcurl for it’s rating, but why is no one going after all of the other brands that have equally bad ratings? Just curious of people’s opinions!
@@maecoker4321 I would say that it's not just the ratings. Products on that app can get red ratings just for having fragrance and a couple other dubious, but not necessarily harmful ingredients. In the case of Devacurl, it's that there have been many reported cases of actual hair and scalp damage, not just the possibility of it.
@Mae Coker Because people have filed actual law suits against DevaCurl because it made their hair fall out and caused scalp irritation. Other brands might have bad ratings for using harsh chemicals, but DevaCurl is actually physically harming people.
Hi there! Your curls look great. As a professional stylist I'd HIGHLY recommend adding more layers in your hair cut. It would definitely help bounce the front and top layer!!!
I think your hair is curly but it's like at a wavy stage and could potentially get curlier. Specially since some of the pieces in your hair are literal spirals.
I think this was one of my favorite videos who’ve ever done. I have very curly Hair and I spent most of my life trying to straighten it and within the last year to two I’ve just been letting it go curly and I love it and this gave me some really good tips on how to take care of my curly hair
I cringed everytime she said “devacurl” 😆 Btw; you still have frizz bc your hair still has heat damage. Once your hair is fully transitioned, there will be less frizz. Ergo, why you mentioned in the beginning how this process usually takes years. Personally, my transitioning stage took a solid year and that was with ten years worth of heat damage. This method takes A LOT of patience. It’s all about the method you do it and switching it up until it works for you. Good luck wavy!!!! 🥰
your hair looks like it's wavy, but you also said you've been damaging it a lot throughout the years so it might start to get curlier as it heals (give it like 2-3 more months!)
My ringlet curls when I was a child I thought were gone ... nope I slowly stopped using crap products and started chopping my hair and it's super tight ringlets now! I absolutely looove it!!! Chopping my hair did the most in revitalizing my curls:)
A gal I went to high school with got cancer, did chemo, hair fell out, all that. Before she had very thin, straight as a board hair. And now her hair is so thick and so curly. Very pretty though. Good luck figuring out the curly hair! And congrats for making it through all the treatments. :)

This has made me rethink wearing natural hair, natural hair still takes care but is about how to bring out the best in your natural style. I honestly thought natural hair was just doing nothing. lol
I think everyone thinks that! I always thought natural hair was effortless too, but thats people making it look easy to obtain. It took me a couple of months to figure out my method but I've got it down to 5 mins of work and I'm done
You have no idea how many people say “you must love having curly hair, you don’t have to do anything to it!” And how many curly girls are holding back their eye rolls. It’s a lot of work but worth it and once you figure out what works you can make your routines quicker and easier.
Hi Sierra, my mom transitioned a few years ago and what I noticed is that at the beginning she had to help her hair with rollers, curlers, wave formers (whatever you want to call them) like you did a few days. She will used different sizes to get loser or thighter curls. This helped her hair get used to curling again, since it had been obligated to be straight for years. It's definitely a journey and needs lots of trial and error, but if you stick to it, you will get there. Much love from one curly girl to another.
I have extremely wavy hair and it looks horrible. The waves and curves are all different sizes and especially the front always looks like they got dents in them, so it just looks messy and doesn't frame the face very well. Straightening it looks so much better.
For me I know that the culture I grew up in did not embrace natural curls. Both the American culture I grew up in and the Indian culture that glorified straight hair. I didn’t even know how to care for my hair until I found the cgm. I would say I spend a lot less time on my hair now vs when I tried to straighten it always. Idk. This was my experience at least.
Love your hair. Just remember that when you straighten it, you make sure that you or whoever is doing it always, ALWAYS uses a heat protectant. And actually, using a little silicone during the straightening process is not a bad thing because it will provide a coating over your strands while it is straight, thus protecting it and making sure it doesn't frizz. Just make sure to do a clarifying wash when you go back to your natural hair. Also, get a Denman brush or a Felicia Leatherwood detangler brush to help clump your curls. They are made for thick hair.
Hey girl, don’t forget- when you go to get your hair cut or trimmed to look for someone who is experienced with curls/waves. Hair is cut differently in that instance! Love your channel!
My FAVORITE aspect of the CGM is the general acceptance of what we’re naturally given, genetically. Acceptance of natural hair patterning can lead to so many other forms of acceptance. It’s a rewarding journey 💚 And your waves/curls look great!
When Sierra went on a rant about not knowing how to classify her hair I FELT THAT. I have the same hair texture and I literally don't know if it's wavy or curly. Many people i know say it's curly, but others say it's really wavy. Idk anymore man
You naturally can have different hair textures. I would suggest trying a wavy routine for a week or two then try a curly one. You can take what you learned from them and create your own routine for your hair.
it’s definitely 2b 2c hair, not many ringlets, but pretty defined waves, i have 2c 3a & some 3b hair, and i can definitely tell what part of my hair is wavy and what is curly, so i’d call it wavy, maybe people call it curly bc compared to pin straight hair it’s pretty textured, but curls are tight rings and waves are S shaped
Hey girl, my advice for you is stop caring about frizz, you are always going to have frizz as a wavy hair girl , when I begin my journey I was obsessed with having super defined and not frizzi waves , but with the pass of the time,I realized that my hair is beautiful puffy and frizzi just as it is. I encourage you to do the same!!
I lost my curls after one year, literally 12 months, of beaching. I got my whole head fully bleached 2 times and the roots touched up 2-3 times (I wear a pixie cut). Now that I've stopped bleaching and growing out my natural color again I can see my roots curling up on their own and the ends are dry and only kind of wavy. I don't think I will ever go back to bleaching my hair. It was just a phase, I wanted to try bright fun colors. Now it's out of my system and I am ready to go back to my natural hair. All this to say that if you also stop lightening your hair it will help a lot with getting your curls/waves back. I strongly advice you at least consider this as an option, even just to see what your natural hair really looks like all grown out while using the curly girl method. I also always used to blow dry and flat iron my hair for years. A couple of years ago I got fed up with it and just let it do it's thing and I do really love my curls now. It's a lot less maintenance and was a lot easier for me because I do wear it short. It's totally worth it.
Watching your vlogs made me realize that my hair that i thought just had giant random waves in it is actually really wavy (2b, i’ve learned!). I always hated my hair but now that i understand it’s texture i’ve started the curly girl method and i’m really liking my hair for the first time in my life!
Girl, I just stumbled on this video, but as a fellow wavy-curly girl I'm so proud of you!!! It is so hard figuring out the best styling techniques and products, but in the end it is all worth it--and I am so excited for you because I can tell that once all your heat damage is grown out and healed, your hair will be so beautifully curly and shiny!! And the frizz does get better as the health of your hair improves. Hair masks and leave-ins are your friends :)
I would love to see you do a video on formal curly girl hairstyles! Most people think straightened hair = elegant and dressy but curly/coily/wavy hair can be formal too! In highschool I went natural and decided that for all my school dances and then years later when in each of my 3 of older brothers' weddings I'd do formal natural styles to raise awareness! I'd love to hear your thoughts and see what you come up with using little to preferably no heat! 💕
I'm cringing at that DevaCurl products at the beginning, but I have FAITH in you that you figured it all out by day 30. lol Onward with the video..... YES!! At day 18 when you started the raking method and gel casting!!! Love the Not Your Mothers line. I don't plop at all. I find I lose curl definition and get frizz every time I try to plop. It has been amazing to watch your 30 day transformation and see just how beautiful your curls are getting.
𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘢 their products have destroyed a lot of ppl’s curls! I’ve heard before the company sold a few years ago the products were great but since then they’ve changed... just another greedy company trying to cut costs but seriously some ppl have had serious damage from them
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!! On all your other vids you were talking about like "don't mind my hair I'm doing the curly girl method for 30 days" and I would get so freaking excited for this video every time you would say something that that🤪♥️
Tip I wish i had when I got started: Don't worry about frizz. Its gonna happen more or less so save your sanity and time. Also expect it to change as it grows out and not get hung up on products and have fun with it while its transitioning. P.S. Your hair is growing out so nicely ! your root is so shiny and so curly and even your original straight damaged pieces look cute and healthy!!! please keep updating your journey!
Loving the summer pallet wardrobe behind you! Watched your color analysis video the other day too so I’m happy to see you now have the summer clothes behind you
Since your hair is still regaining its health and curl, I recommend leaving your treatments/deep conditioner in for longer. My hair was damaged like yours when I started, and I deep conditioned every third wash for ONE HOUR! it really helped, and took over 6 months before it started feeling better and decreased frizz! Good luck with your hair! Keep trying things! Also, Wet Brush has been a great addition to my routine!
@@unprofessionallypolished right! Same as highlights. When someone goes over board and doesn't use protection damage happens from both heat and bleach.
did anyone else scream a little inside when she didnt scrunch after raking in around min 11? i just wanted to tell her rake to smooth then scrunch for the waves!!
This makes me excited. I’m just starting embracing my curly hair after years (yeah years!) of abuse. I hope my curl pattern comes back and is this beautiful!
I loved this video! My hair looks SO similar to yours, this was so helpful to me! I am also so glad to know you’ve stopped using the DevaCurl... PLEASE do an updated hair care routine video with new products! You’re hair looks so incredible, I’m glad you’re happy with your natural hair now! 😊
My tips from doing CG for about a year and a half: I like to do every step of my washday upside down, until I microplop. So washing, conditioning and styling upside down. I like combing conditioner through to get my hair silky, then squish to condish. Instead of raking stylers, check out the roping method to apply, then scrunch some more, and add water (a spray bottle will do wonders, your hair should still be dripping wet as you style it). If you want to plop, which you probably don't because your hair curl pattern isn't tight, don't twist your towel/t-shirt - it stretches your hair. Check out microplopping instead, aka just scrunching out the water with a t-shirt (I do this after finally flipping my head upright and gently shaking out the curls while my hair is still very wet to make sure the back is not weird). I do use gel again after microplopping, because getting a cast is the best way to ensure my hair doesn't get frizzy. And no touching your hair until it's dry - breaking the cast early will lead to frizz. Hope you keep at it, and if I've learned anything from the Deva debacle, is you should listen to your scalp more than your hair, and use clarifying/regular shampoo somewhat regularly because cowashing doesn't work for everyone (I have an oily scalp and trying to make cowashing work for me was the biggest mistake of my CG journey). Sorry for the long comment, hopefully some of it will be helpful.
Wow, your hair is legit curly! It seems like most of the wavy part was just from heat damage. You can really tell after you got a lot of that cut off. It’s gorgeous!
Glad to see others trying this. I've been curly girl for about 5 years and it has done amazing things for my hair. I use Shea moisture, As I Am and Maui Moisture products all the time and they did wonders for my curls. Also glad to see you aren't using Deva Curl. My hair had started coming out in huge chunks for a while on Deva curl dispite using their products for years.
Sierra, as a girl who grew up hating her own curly hair I’m in love with the way yours is looking by the end! I’m glad you’re going through this journey and after 10 years of not wearing my hair curly you’re inspiring me to start again! Thank you!
Yes please do an updated routine video!! I've been trying the CG Method for a few years and still have trouble finding the right products, but i felt like i could connect to your journey and i'd love to see what other products you like to use!
Ever since I was young, I hated my curls and they were beautiful ringlets! In the last few years I have embraced them and it has made me feel so much better about myself! Embrace your curls girl, let them do what they wanna do and don’t try to control them. You will feel so much better for it :) x
Lol omg! I was watching and I was like oh no devacurl, wonder if she knows! I’m so glad you added the bit at the end I was like omg I hope her hair doesn’t fall out. Anyway I LOVE the way you’re embracing your natural hair, definitely just another step in you body positive journey(hairs not your body but it’s attached so I think it counts). You are such an inspiration and the hair looks SO cute :)
Whoa the editing in this video is really great here imo, it really complements your personality! Also, you are SO beautiful with any hairstyle, but also your curly hair is freaking cute! ❤️
sierra !!! wetting your hair every day is extremely damaging and can lead to hygral fatigue !!! repeatedly opening and closing your cuticle by wetting and drying it can cause your hair to no longer be able to hold in proteins and become extremely over moisturized ! i haven’t finished the video yet so im not sure if you’ve started trying to just refresh with a little mist of water but i would highly recommend ! also- the first ingredient in that olaplex no.7 is dimethicone ! (again haven’t finished the video so not sure if she’s noticed or not)
I would love to see an updated products/routine once you’re like 3 months in. I’ve used the curly girl method for years and I find that I have to update my products with the season to maintain a consistent look, it’ll be interesting to see what your hair reacts well to too!
this video is so cool! Started following the CG method about a year ago and i had a hard time finding someone with my wave type and there you were under my nose as a not hair related channel x) You may have just started but you gave me a few good tips right there!
Your “before hair” is like the perfect, natural beach waves that people strive to get. I feel like all you need a bit of hair oil and you’d literally have dream hair! If I had that hair naturally I’d wear it like that everyday and skip the hair gel, creams etc. #hairgoals And yes I realise that it’s subjective and you probably don’t feel the same way 😂❤️
How you felt about your natural hair is exactly how I feel! I would love to start my own curly hair journey and would love an updated video of the products you use now! ❤️
Hey Sierra, if you're struggling with the frizz on the more damaged parts of your hair, try Olaplex 3. Some people also get a lot of frizz when they use products with aloe or glycerin, so maybe try removing those two ingredients and see if it helps with the frizzing.
My hair looks so much like yours when I leave it alone. For almost my entire life I believed my hair was straight frizzy. Then my mom told me she used to have curls when little, so I thought "if I can't keep my hairs straight without heat, maybe it's meant to be curly?"... so I stumbled on the curly girl method and stopped straightening my hair and using heat, changed shampoo to natural ones and now I have curls! NEVER would have known if my mom had not told me. Turns out she has puffy hair because it is meant to be curly, but she always straightened with hair dryer so we never saw the curls. When I showed her my hair she could not believe I did not curl it on purpose! It took about 3 months for my hair to go curlyish. Still struggle with the frizz so I will try some of the methods you mentioned. Not so many products though. Thank you!
I do have straight as heck hair, but my boyfriend has really curly hair naturally, and I thought that it might be nice to know about those things just in case we get a child with curly hair 🤔
Dulce Perez The only advice I know to say is baby soaps and shampoos have sulfates and are hecka drying. Shea moisture has a baby shampoo/body wash that is like $8 and sulfate free.

X X i have sort of reverse of that, the top is super curly and the underneath is straight, it’s kind of weird
Me too! I hate it and its so confusing
Yes it's so annoying, and on some days my hair is wavy and some days its really curly, I'm confused 😂
It's cause your hair is heavy and weighing down the top of your hair (makes hair look like a triangle). It looks more even when you get a layered hair cut
Chamodhi Manodhya I do have a layered hair cut, I think it’s that my curl pattern is more defined underneath as I brush it less there idk aha

Quick tip: something that helps me with frizz is holding the diffuser over a section of hair for longer periods of time instead of switching positions every few seconds.
Yes! this, and turning it off in between switching sections. It cuts back on the frizz soooo much.
The number 1 thing you have to get through as a curly girl: you don't have 100 % control over it lol
LoveBaseballLove THIS. 🙌🏼
FACTS! It wasn't until my curly bestie said this to me that I finally began to enjoy my curls and having the most amazing curl days ever.
I might need to screenshot this and put it as my background because boyyyyy I have control issues with my hair😂
Frizz free is a myth, imo. There can a minimal amount of frizz, if you find the right routine. But there is always gonna be some kind of frizz.
I live in the PNW, I have embraced my constant baby hair halo, and I'm only at 2b
@@candidulce0714 i can tell you the products i use to eliminate frizz!! they're all actually really cheap brands and they work wonders
Frizz is just part of having curly hair 🤷🏻♀️ especially after a few days . It’s okay though . Just embrace it ! I use Shea moisture oil to help with shine and helps the frizz a bit
As someone who has been thinking about trying out the curly girl method, I would love to see an updated routine!

Yes please I’m also thinking of trying it

I love it whenever a person accepts their curly hair. I never straightened my hair but I also didn't follow any curly hair techniques or routines. So I had like a hair nest of frizz. I had sort of accepted my hair was gonna be forever that ugly. Until I discovered curly girl method. I get so many compliments now, and other curly girls ask for tips.
Hey so as someone who has had curly hair when I was younger then brushed it out for years. I have been trying to repair it and I was wondering what shampoo and conditioner you would recommend

With all the controversy with DevaCurl I would not recommend using it! Shae moisture and Cantu have some great products to substitute any DevaCurl products!
*Watch till the end! She goes over this!*
Btw, I love using Renpure Originals for Shampoo and Conditioner!
Veronica Lopez most of Shae’s products aren’t silicone free, so they could coat the hair with a shine but then dries it out.
What's wrong with devacurl? I haven't heard of it nor the controversy, but am looking to get my waves back
MyChannel true! But they have some silicone free products too, plus if you do cleanses at least once a week, it shouldn’t be a problem. The process to finding what works with your hair is a long journey...trust me!
Veggie Bee look up some of the you tubers she mentioned, they have videos all about it! Good luck on your curly hair journey!
Veggie Bee dr dray just uploaded a video about it
How many of us liters flinched when she held up that devacurl shampoo
Haha mee mee!!
When you use the diffuser, keep the dryer off until it is at your scalp, blast the air for a bit, then turn it back off when you pull it away from your hair - that minimizes frizz from the dryer.
Pixie diffusing method is my go too when letting my hair go back to curly.
I wish I'd read this an hour ago 🤣 first time using a diffuser and, uh... 😅🥴
I personally think that was way too many products. You shouldn't have to "wash" your hair daily if it's curly.
its product build up from not using any actual cleaning agents lmaoooo.
Yeah deep conditioner, hair cream, gel, mousse. She had like 5 products in at once! That and showering daily can’t be good for your hair...
It’s not washing your hair daily, you wet the hair to bring out the curl and rinse out the old product
Not everyone can refresh. My hair looks like crap if I refresh. So I cowash daily if needed.
My tip is to try a denman brush! It’s a total frizz buster.

I love straight hair and I love curly hair both but I have really ugly inconsistent wavy hair so nature did not play in my favor lmao
It’s always like playing a mystery game 😂
Especially on wash day - Seeing what your curls need (moisture vs protein), how it dries, and how it reacts with the weather 🤪
Eden Davida yeah I never really use heat in my hair and it usually ends up frizzy it’s just hair texture

Glitter Tana Beauty haha right?! Soo many deva curl comments. If they watched to the end there wouldn’t be so many comments

There is an app called Think Dirty that rates the how “clean”’ products are. You should check it out when trying something new. DevaCurl does have a really bad rating on there.
I just found this app yesterday, I was so excited!!!
If only they had more products on there
I absolutely love the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk products they’re AMAZING. Nothing has ever curled my hair so well

Just wait till she gives birth! Hair can change DRASTICALLY for some women.
Savannah Tatianna some, not most 🙄
Savannah Tatianna Thats true! Ever since I had my 3 kids, my hair no longer will straighten much and actually got wavier and thicker

I think this was one of my favorite videos who’ve ever done. I have very curly Hair and I spent most of my life trying to straighten it and within the last year to two I’ve just been letting it go curly and I love it and this gave me some really good tips on how to take care of my curly hair
I cringed everytime she said “devacurl” 😆
Btw; you still have frizz bc your hair still has heat damage.
your hair looks like it's wavy, but you also said you've been damaging it a lot throughout the years so it might start to get curlier as it heals (give it like 2-3 more months!)
stephanie santos 2-3 years
@@lizaramirez-garcia5944 for it to fully heal yes, but within the first couple months of cgm my hair changed a lot for the better

Much love from one curly girl to another.
i’m 16 now and realizing i’m ruining my curls. i needed this video
As a person with naturally straight hair I don’t understand why people straighten it. I think natural curls are gorgeous and elegant.
Cos to be honest, curly hair require effort to look gud, where straight hair looks gud no matter what you look decent compared to curly hair
It's nice to change it up sometimes and straighten it. I have 3c curls and they are such a pain sometimes. Nice to have a little break lol
You always want what you don't have.
Caty Boylan ? She got a curly girl cut in this video
My FAVORITE aspect of the CGM is the general acceptance of what we’re naturally given, genetically. Acceptance of natural hair patterning can lead to so many other forms of acceptance. It’s a rewarding journey 💚 And your waves/curls look great!
curly hair doesn't cooperate even if it's not damaged, don't stress too much about it
This may sound weird, but I think your natural curls really bring out your eyes!
You look so much like your Mom when she was younger!!!!!!
You look so cute with your natural hair ❤
When Sierra went on a rant about not knowing how to classify her hair I FELT THAT. I have the same hair texture and I literally don't know if it's wavy or curly. Many people i know say it's curly, but others say it's really wavy. Idk anymore man
Same! I have literal ringlets and people still say my hair is 'wavy'. Its impossible
You naturally can have different hair textures. I would suggest trying a wavy routine for a week or two then try a curly one. You can take what you learned from them and create your own routine for your hair.
We call it "Wurly"
it’s definitely 2b 2c hair, not many ringlets, but pretty defined waves, i have 2c 3a & some 3b hair, and i can definitely tell what part of my hair is wavy and what is curly, so i’d call it wavy, maybe people call it curly bc compared to pin straight hair it’s pretty textured, but curls are tight rings and waves are S shaped
One time my friend was genuinely confused and asked "is your hair curly or what?? I cant tell" lol
Needed this 😭
Exactly, the trade off with frizz is i get a little more volume :)

When you diffuse, you should turn off the hair dryer when you move between sections! It helps to reduce the frizz
Wait I want to try this now. I always wondered why my hair is so wavy after air drying but get all weird when I brush it. Thanks Sierra
you brush the natural curl out or something like that. Hence why they advice not to brush your hair when dry.
In the description you have a a link SierraSubsribe, your missing the C, and it is pointing to the wrong place as a result. Hope this helps!
Wow, I’m so impressed with the final transformation! This makes me want to give the Curly Girl Method a shot and see if I can define my natural curl.

Since your hair is still regaining its health and curl, I recommend leaving your treatments/deep conditioner in for longer. Good luck with your hair! Keep trying things! Also, Wet Brush has been a great addition to my routine!
It’s not the heat that’s relaxed and frizzed your curl, it is the beaching of the highlights.

Whoa the editing in this video is really great here imo, it really complements your personality! Also, you are SO beautiful with any hairstyle, but also your curly hair is freaking cute! ❤️
sierra !!! wetting your hair every day is extremely damaging and can lead to hygral fatigue !!! repeatedly opening and closing your cuticle by wetting and drying it can cause your hair to no longer be able to hold in proteins and become extremely over moisturized ! i haven’t finished the video yet so im not sure if you’ve started trying to just refresh with a little mist of water but i would highly recommend !

this video is so cool!
#hairgoals
And yes I realise that it’s subjective and you probably don’t feel the same way 😂❤️
How you felt about your natural hair is exactly how I feel!
Yeah I think she needs to hydrate more.
This makes me so happy. Glad you’re representing your natural hair!
That's literally why I'm watching this. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my husband has wavy/curly hair. I'm trying to be safe just in case 👶🏽😂
My daughter got my husbands curly hair and I love it sooooo much. She has little blonde curls and it’s the cutest
Dulce Perez The only advice I know to say is baby soaps and shampoos have sulfates and are hecka drying. Shea moisture has a baby shampoo/body wash that is like $8 and sulfate free.
I'm watching this because my husband has curly hair and it desperately needs helps haha
Haha same
