I used to get out of breath easily from just dancing- until I started losing weight; now i can dance 6 hours straight and not feel tired, i can do 3 hours of cardio not get tired and i can also jump, run and functional exercises and not get tired or sore- if i had stayed the same weight, I’d probably could only just walk and get frustrated that everything would hurt and eventually leave exercising all together- when you take loads of weight off your body you literally feel like you’re floating and even the most tiresome task seems easy

It's actually sad that exercise has become a youtube challenge. Its shocking how lazy younger people have become. Exercise should be an ongoing daily part of life. I mean an hour of exercise is hardly anything!. So it would be really easy to close the rings.

I totally feel you on the more “aggressive” workouts. As a mom, you’re really in the zone of being kind and soft all day- even through frustrating moments. Sometimes blowing off steam in a more rough and aggressive way can just dump out all those feelings that built up and you can focus more on being calm and kind. I used to do heavy power lifting pre-pregnancy and i find myself missing it to much. Just doing something that makes me feel strong and powerful and let’s put the frustration makes me feel so much better after.

From one bipolar to another…be careful about becoming obsessed with closing all those rings. It’s a fine line for me that I’ve had to work to overcome when I don’t get them all closed. Like you pointed out, I’ve learned that moving my body in any way is healthier than over-exercising in an effort to close rings on my watch. I totally agree with the Apple watch rings thing. I have a Google phone and the watch I connect to uses Google fit which measures steps and what they call heart points which is a lot like Apple's exercise ring. It's nice because there are ways to hide Calories, if that's something that triggers an unhealthy habit or mental concern for anyone with a history of ED or even DE.

Agreed. I have a Garmin watch and it focuses on heart rate rather than calories, which I like. The only drawbacks are that it doesn't connect to Google Fit and doesn't have rings (only weekly goals), but hey, so be it. It's also deceptive - the calories you burn through intentional exercise is a small blip in the overall calories we use in a day just existing. When I walked ten miles one day and the app told me I burned something like 600 calories doing it, I was mad! 600 calories for all of that work? What. Then I got over it, but I can see how some people will focus on that and just keep going for more and more and more.

I have curls and work out a lot.
If my hair isn't soaked in sweat, I just shower without washing my hair at all. If it is, I wash it with just water and conditioner (except if it is washing day). Then I plop it as usual and voilà 🤷‍♀️

I've found getting a good sweat wicking head band works really helps. I like the temple tape brand, it wicks great and keeps my scalp pretty dry so I don't feel like it got gross and needs to be washed as often. The temple tape is also super thin, so I can wear it easily under a hat/helmet for outdoor exercise.

Thank you Sierra for this video! Since childhood I've always associated exercise with weight loss . Being an overweight kid and even an adult, people have always told me to exercise for weight loss and not promoted exercise as a way of life or a way to connect with your body. This has ingrained a disgust for exercise and it even made every minute of it painful. Hopefully i over come this attitude and find fun, interesting ways to incorporate exercise and movement in my life!

I started this in the fall, what started as a goal/challenge became an obsession. I get angry if something gets in the way of me closing my circles, but there’s also that part of me that wonders if that’s because I wasn’t able to do that one thing for myself that I like to set aside each day. I do boarder along the line of an ED, where if I know I’m gonna have something like ice cream, I’ll double my ring to make up for it. I can’t imagine what it’s like to just be a person that has a healthy relationship with food and exercise. I’m happy to see you trying things like this though, as I know above all else, exercising has definitely stabilized my bipolar ten fold to the point where I forget I have it some days.

I do something like this! Have a wall calendar, and every day I draw a little pic or icon of what I did that day. Walking.. weight training.. dancing.. hiking.. Even if it's just something for my mental health, reading.. sitting in nature.. I'll draw those things too. And you can just visualize all the good things you did for yourself, filling up as the month goes on. Even if all you could manage that day is eating lots of veggies, draw some carrots ☺️ It's just a positive way to reinforce positive things you do for yourself.
