Thanks for doing this video. Clearly the SSD cache is being used to actively inform the RAM, and this slows large file transfers because those resources are being used like handlers. Good video. You covered most aspects. I'm happy to leave it turned-off because I suspect it will not terminate or migrate into virtual memory when I play demanding games or similar tasks. But it could have some use cases if you were loading processes or services routinely through certain architecture.
There is little objective benefit to rapid mode ON when testing singular tasks. However, using the system, especially web browsing, feels a lot more smooth with rapid ON. Windows settles faster after startup and the constant random access windows does to the disk doesn't light up the drive led anymore, indicating these accesses dont hit the actual SATA interface anymore. Yes, it is a RAM cache, obviously, but it is a lot more effective than what windows does internally. Even with a freshly installed bare Windows 11, the system normally rummages through the disk in the background for no obvious reason. With rapid mode, this is not happening and the system quiets down soon after boot. That means the small chirping sounds that disk accesses cause through speaker interference are gone, the blinkenlights are off, CPU percentage is down and battery draw is noticeably less. (ThinkPad x230, mSATA 870 evo, 16GB RAM, mSATA connected to SATA2 speeds only)
I have a feeling that Windows 11 seems to be running a lot better on my Gaming PC with RAPID Mode on (also, Samsung Magician 7 know only let's you enable RAPID with the 'Full Performance' Slider, which also enables 'Over-Provisioning'). I didn't try any file transfers to test it, but for me, I'll leave it turned on.
You should be able to turn on RAPID mode separately by using the Custom Mode under Performance Optimization. You don't have to turn everything else on to use RAPID mode.
Does it affect the lifespan if turning ON? I got a 2 Samsung Evo, first one was 860 Evo that had 98% health and rapid mode is ON with frequent reformatting and was used for a year. Maybe that caused the health. One is a new Evo 870 and I did not turn it ON (Rapid Mode) for now.

Adequate and fully utilized DRAM capacity: When there is a sufficient and fully utilized DRAM capacity available. Guess "RAPID on" is similar to ram cache.
I just wanna say when I used standard mode in Samsung magician I was getting stutters for the longest time on games but soon as I put over provisioning back on which makes power saving mode come on in Samsung Magician all my stutters are now gone. I was stuttering on games for like 2 years couldn't figure it out but it was that the whole time I guess. I mean cause nothing else worked for me till I got to this. I was checking my ram, updating my bios, I changed my thermal paste on my cpu, clean wiped and fresh installed windows. I was about to take my gpu apart as well, I was even thinking it was my PSU but nope it was that so yeah don't turn that off lol I think rapid mode is fine and power saving for sure it okay in my book.

But I didn't use it for very long maybe a few months after doing more research I left it on power saving mode for a very long time. I recently just wiped my pc after upgrading as well so its on standard at the moment but when I am not lazy ill download magician and set it to power saving again.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech reality is not when you load a game. Ram caching is useful for intense read write operations like vmwares etc. Try running a vmware and working on it and see by yourself. Samsung rapid mode is the only software who uses ram cache for write without risking data lose. Others like diskeeper or primocache cant do this.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech u dont even understand what is the rapid mode for. loading windows and copy file not affected by that mode at all. it monitor your behavior what kind of app or games u use frequent, and make those cache faster. thats why u see u get loading your game faster compared when it is turned off. other test is pointless and not relevant.
Do you know how I could disactivate the option without Samsung Magician ? I activated it and my PC is now unable to load Samsung Magician, create files and lot of other essential stuff for a PC to work.

Since Samsung R.A.P.I.D. is nothing more than a cache program, it would not give you an advantage on any of the tests done here. Cache programs are only good for repeated tasks. That means if you run the same tests 2, 3, or 4 times, you will see a drastic difference between the non cached and the cached tasks.

Ну за 6 месяцев походу и обновили. Вобщем побаловался я с этим режимом потестил SSD (всё гуд) вернул всё в зад и удалил Маджикян. Зачем оно мне надо ))) У меня и оперативы мало для режима, 6 гб всего.

I don't think it will affect the lifespan. The size of the SSD plays a big part in its longevity when it comes to MB Written.

Rapid mode help the ssd live longer, and improves loading time, of repetitive files. Think prefetch cache.

My conclusion is that full performance mode seems to work best with EVO 870 drives. The cheap 860 seems to make do difference with it.
