It's a power cable from the PSU. PCI-E 6 pin.
I actually want to make a master that is like the hard drive was when original. I have the reload OS CDs. Can I do that? Once complete can I clone the 870 master with other 870s?
will this still work if i have an adata boot SSD and try cloning it to my new 980Pro SSD?
would the samsung 870 qvo be a good upgrade in a xbox one x?
can you only create a new partition while its installed inside the pc? i bought this for my pc but didnt look at the capacity size and mine can only handle up to 2tb and i bought the 4tb one and so i bought a seta to usb adapter and its not showing up in the disk management
Does it clone the OS also or windows have to be reinstalled?
It clones the OS!
Hi I’ve just done this but can’t see the storage ? Any help would be great
Is there a way to add a third SSD? I already have a 500 GB C drive and a 2 TB western Digital. I just bought the 870 QVO 4 TB SSD because I’m running out of space on both due to video editing and software. Is it as simple as just getting another SATA cable?
Yes just add another sata cable! Easy!
@@UltimateTechHub Wow, thanks for the quick response. Subbed
@@nanopixel.studio Glad to help and thank you for watching and for subbing!
1st u have to connect ssd to power supply?
Yes
great vid, thank you so much
Thank you for watching!
do i need to use data migration if im gonna use the ssd for storage ?
No just initialize the SSD and create the simple volume and done! Good to go for storage.
Thank goodness! I thought I totally booked my new SSD, turns out I just forgot to initialize it. I thought it was just a quick plug in like a portable ssd lol
Everyone forgets to initialize their new drives! Lol! Glad to help and thanks for watching!
Can i do the transfer if i was using the new ssd from the enclosure first?
like
New SSD in enclosure
Old HDD in PC
Migrate
Remove new ssd from enclosure
Swap old ssd with new ssd (data cables and sata power)
Is that going to be fine?
You can do the transfer any way you want. However Samsung data migration software only works with Samsung ssds. There are many different softwares you can use like clonezillla. Thank you for watching and keep me posted.
@@UltimateTechHub yeah the new ssd will be samsung in an enclosure. can i clone it to that new one then swap?
@@iwishihadgoodinternet7766 yes absolutely
@@UltimateTechHub thanks
Thanks buddy!
I have a 1TB gen 3 non-Samsung Nvme and want to migrate the os to a new 2TB Samsung 980 pro (gen 4). Will this software work and are you left with the unallocated space on the new drive since it’s going from 1TB to 2TB?
Samsung Data Migration software is for Samsung to Samsung Cloning. You can use other software like . When cloning 1TB to 2TB you will have the unallocated space available for storage. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.
I didnt have spare wires to plug in my SSD. I unplugged the CD/DVD drive thing and put the wires into the SSD. Is that ok?
Yes
Also when initialising the disk do i pick MBR or GPT?
@@dst6125 Either one will work. GPT allows for more than 4 partitions. So chose GPT.
@@UltimateTechHub Thank you very much. I dont mean to be a pain but i do have one last question. Does this method copy windows over as well? Is it safe for me to wipe my original hard drive?
@@dst6125 It copies Windows over to the new drive. I would remove old drive and then boot new drive to make sure everything works perfectly. If all is good then format the old drive! And your not a pain. Glad to help.
Thank you🏆🏆🏆

Does it need the power cable? My computer only has the sata cable plugged into my HDD right now. I'm looking to get the Samsung SSD and swap it out but seems like it's missing the cable for some reason.
Your PC power supply should have cables connected to it that will plug into the SSD. It's the flat looking power connection.
does it come with a sata cable?
No. SSDs do not come with SATA cables. However they are cheap and new motherboards usually come with 1 or 2 SATA cables. Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well!
Do I need to purchase the sata cable that plugs into the motherboard separate? I’ve got enough to connect to my PSU but the two smaller cables I have are already connected toy current SSD and HDD
Yes if you don't have an extra SATA cable. I have probably 12 in my tool box! Cone on over and I will give you one! Lol
How very INCOMPLETE! What cables does one need to connect 1. the data plug (on the SSD) and 2. the power plug (on the SSD) to (A) data socket and then (B) the power socket (which?) on your PC?? The SSD is NOT sold with any cables (so: which ones?).
Is the samsung migration software compatible to clone SSD from another manufacturer? My main drive is Kingston.
No, it has to be Samsung to Samsung, sorry.
@@UltimateTechHub Unfortunate, I suppose there are similar software available that can do this?
@@unknownentity8256 Yes clonezilla
@@UltimateTechHub Thanks! :)
Clone in Linux mint 21.1?
Probably but I haven't tried. Let me know if it works and I will post an update. Thank you for watching!
you are an amazing human i was trying to frigure out how to do it and it wasnt working for me then i found your video and you have just saved me so much time and money

can we MIGRATE the data from ordinary HARD DRIVE to this SSD ? inclusing windows etc all ?
Yes. However the Samsung data migration software only works with Samsung drives.
Quick question, after I transfer the data from the old ssd, do I still have to take it out or can I still keep it in the pc?
You can keep it just make sure the new SSD is the boot SSD. That's why I swap SATA connections to force the mobo to boot the new SSD. Thank you for watching!
@@UltimateTechHub quick question too, do I really have to swap the SATA cables for the mobo to boot the new ssd? Or it’s okay to not swap and go to boot on BIOS and make the new SSD The top priority to boot?
can I get sent the link to the data migration software
Is the cloning process necessary if I’m just installing an SSD for additional storage and not removing any old storage? (I’m very computer illiterate so I’m surprised I was even able to plug it in)
Nope cloning is not necessary if you want just extra storage. Just initialize the drive and that's it. Thank you for watching.
@@UltimateTechHub thanks a lot man!
I get the stopcode 0xc000021a Blue Screen of Death when I boot from the SSD after the migration. Endless loop with not way out but the Bios. Any ideas?
Hey so for us to clone it does the old ssd have to be a Samsung one
Yes
@@UltimateTechHub wow thank you for the fast reply do you know of any other software that can do the cloning?
@@WH0_- Clonezilla.
Thanks.
I currently have an HDD in my pc; could I use this same process to clone my HDD to a new SSD?
If they are both Samsung drives.
@@UltimateTechHub it is a western blue, is there another way I could clone it?
@@MicahOtero Use Clonezilla or Macrium Reflect. Both are fantastic.
@@UltimateTechHub thank you so much for a clear video and quick responses!
Hi, device manager (BIOS too) shows this disk name as "SSD 2TB" instead of Samsung 870 QVO so I can't even update firmware for it. Do you have any idea how can I repair this?
Did you initialize it and create a simple volume?
@@UltimateTechHub yes, I even installed win10 3 times on it but every time I got blue screen with "critical process died" during installing apps and drivers, so I thought it can be the solution. If not, I'll just send it on guarantee.
@@Cherryyy__ I would format the drive again and try cloning one more time before sending it back.
Thank you 🥰
My new ssd doesn’t appear in disk management? Not even greyed out. It shows in BIOS though. But as soon as I get into windows it’s nowhere to be seen.
Hi I just cloned via Samsung migration tool without initializing the SSD via disk management. Will it work? (And yea it did not show up on mu computer but it did show up on Samsung migration tool)
Try initializing it now. Keep me posted.
Thank you, this was helpful :)
Whats the diff between QVO and EVO
The Samsung EVO SSD has more extended longevity than QVO SSD. I always go with the EVO. Thanks for watching!

Under disk management mine says “disk 0, unknown, not initialized” and when i wright click everything is greyed out. If i right click the name i get the option to “initialize disk” but when i hit that i get “a device which does not exist was specified”
Turn off PC unplug the new ssd and plug it back in to the Sata port. Maybe try a different sata port. Restart PC and see if it shows up.
