So it's not activated at default for safety measure 😲 That's great to know. Now I understand why my 980 Pro 2TB was running under 1800 MB in reading and writing. Since I want longevity, I won't touch it. That's great to know and thank you very much for the great tip. ^^
I have Samsung 980 non pro 1TB and it is getting 3500MB read and 2700MB write speeds when running at full power mode. You're getting lower speeds because your SSD probably runs at power saving mode
Hi. I have a Legion 5i Pro 2023 model with i7 13700HX and 64Gb Kingston Fury Impact 5600MHz (upgraded to it myself) and also another upgrade i did was add a Samsung 2Tb 990 Pro nvme. But it has only 600TBW and i have read users warn of using rapid mode with this ssd because it increases the temperature by a lot especially when you can't use it with a heat spreader which i cannot since my gaming laptop doesn't have any room for that.
I think Samsung 990 Pro doesn't support rapid mode at all. Rapid mode is available for slower ssds that dont have onboard dram. But you can use performance mode which allows you to get advertised speeds. It disables power limit so your ssd can get as much power as it needs
I have an older laptop and I change the harddrive to an SAMSUNG ssd 870 but the performance is only 270 mbp and 250 mbp and performance optimization installed make no change , what I do wrong , can you help me please
Probably need to enable rapid mode in Samsung Magician and reboot. On my 870 QVO I was seeing like 5000+MB/s in sustained reads, and was extremely confused. I disabled rapid mode and saw the max SATA 3 speeds.
RAPID doesn't make your SSD faster, it's a benchmarking gimmick. It uses your RAM to cache some of the data and then measures the speed, which is cheating.
Make sure AHCI mode is activated, and if not don’t turn it on when windows installed. It must be only turned on before installing windows or else you will get blue screen and windows won’t boot.
I have 2 SSD's capable of using this but can only use 1, I use one SSD for my OC and programs and the other only for games. Would It be better if I used this on the OC or gaming SSD?
It's better to use faster SSD for OS and programs because gaming performance is not depended on SSD speed. For example Sata SSD with ~500MB/s speed and NVMe SSD with 7000MB/s should perform similarly in games. Loading times will be slightly different between those SSDs but not gaming experience and fps.
I have a samsung ssd 870 evo 500gb in which windows 10 is installed, will the setting for rapid mode delete my files and windows will not work for me after a restart? thank you very much.

Rapid mode isn't available for Samsung 980 Pro SSD. It already has DRAM which helps to achieve crazy fast R/W speeds

@@SoftwareGeek Alright Thanks.
Hello, I have a ssd evo 870. Is it full performance mode?
Compatible with it
Is there dram in it?
thank you
yes
Is this safe for extremely important files that are saved on the drive? I don't want my files to be deleted or anything.
It's safe.
how is tjat possible my 990pro did the test also in 2 mins wtf

Sounds like your device has SATA3 instead of SATA6 functionality.
muy bueno
muchas gracias
I'm using ssd Samsung evo 870, why I still got 697MB/s not 8000MB/s like you?

@@dannylovell7876 still same to me, I already turn on rapid mode

Huh the 870 don't have reads that fast though what's the 8000MB/s?? My 990 Pro don't even do 8000MB/s

@@SoftwareGeekactually on some games A SSD is NEEDED not many very small amounts but some are needed

Haha no it will not erase ANYTHING
