Ya gottsa me thinkin. Can you hollow out a birch log and plant the raft in it? I bet that would look cool. Or a hardwood so not to rot fast. Birch would give a nice white natural pot. Even if it rots, character. Don't know if you could seal the inside though.
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 That would be cool! Actually, we use birch for firewood, so not to difficult to hunt a piece down. I've also seen some nice looking fake birch that might last longer.
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 Yes, this post was used just to get it rooted as it was what I had at that time and the handle were convenient for tying the tree in while the roots take.
All of my jades are still in my glassed in unheated sunroom.....they'll go into the basement under LED grow lights when nighttime temps reach 40F in the sunroom...
@@dkstott29 They can definitely get cold. The cuttings were outside and hit by frost even. I keep them upstairs till we turn up the heat more, then they go downstairs under grow lights. I will likely do this with the Gollum this winter too.
Wow Marysol, the Jade looks so good!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone Thanks Nigel! A beauty of a "Big Chop" you made. Just in the perfect spot. Created itself. Thank you so much for that! 😊
The trunks on these trees are very cool.
You have some well thought out ideas about pruning this cool raft GJ.
With your excellent hands pruning, the raft looks really cool.
I swear that jades go dormant in the hot summer..mine have been growing like weeds since mid September..
@@dkstott29 Yes, I find they enjoy the cool temperatures as well!
You have a lot of cuttings for more bonsai trees. A mame/bean bonsai in the future?
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 Perhaps! Only time will tell I suppose...😄

Maybe a longer pot for a raft bonsai?
