Pretty exciting stuff for a young man getting his first knife. I got a kick out of him when he said he liked the CRKT that had the Veff serrations on the blade. Tom Veff is an acquantince of mine and he invented that style of serrations. Tom has a sharpening and knife repair service in Oregon City, Oregon. He invented the serration style in 2004 and sought his patent. He then shared the rights with CRKT in 2006 to market knives with them. He regularly gets knives in his shop from around the world with people requesting those serrations on many styles and brands of knives. Tom is 74 years old and a true gem to hang around with. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.
That is very cool! Donnie now has several more knives with a slowly growing collection. It is great to hear of true craftsmen still following their passions.
I was about that young man’s age my first time going to SMKW, that’s was 30 years ago. I think I probably had that same excitement and ambition! I also had to get stitches before we made it back to iowa.
OMG I loved watching this video and seeing the boys excitement. As we get older the world isn't as wondrouds, so thanks for letting me relive times gone by. Maybe one day he will have a knife channel like I do now ... Everything has a start somewhere
I spent hours researching which version of the CRKT Minimalist to get. The SMKW Exclusive Bowie in D2 with Olive Drab G10 scales was my eventual choice. I should have just watched this video and got what Donnie got. That's a great beginner knife but is also something he won't outgrow. It's a great little knife.
I live 30 minutes away so I’ve been there 100s of times over the years. But when I want to buy a Benchmade I go across the street to Buds Gun Shop, better prices.
He should get a RW Case and Son’s if he keeps it for a long time it will go up In price and a knife he can pass down to his children. My father did with me. CRKT makes a good knife but case is a good starting point.
The store is really cool and fun to look around in. But their prices are way more then other retailers. I got a viper hug for 220 and then looked it up in the car after we left. All the other knife stores had it at 167. That's a big difference. I won't buy from them just because of their mark ups.
Thanks for the feedback! We are not pushing for views just capturing what we do so that we can look back on it ourselves like a modern photo album. If we get views along the way that is great too!
Fathers buy a knife, then give it to their son...or give them one that's already in the house...not make the child choose🤦♂️ There's no sentiment involved...he can never say "I got my first knife from my dad"
That makes sense. He has a Case knife that his great grandfather carried that he will get when he is older, but that would be one that he would never want to use just keep.

In Cade’s words, it was overwhelming. Glad Donnie got his first knife. So glad Stewart has helped Cade with his interest in knives.

😂 I 63 and I still cut my fingers
This is a great video! You all are great parents raising your boys right! Every young boy should learn about knife ownership and safety!
What a neat video!! Great experience for these kids. Great dad!!
Thanks so much!
No one else heard Peter griffin at 5:56? 😂
A big event for a young man! It was nice that the whole family was there.
Way too many cool things to see.
I'll go there some day and take a tour, buy a knife and meet the UA-cam 3 Greg, Isaac and CC.
That is an American store. Need a road trip from Chicago.
Awesome video. I cannot wait until my son is old enough to get his first pocket knife
Been to SMKW many times over the years. Great place to visit even just to look around.
It really is!

Thank you for the kind words!
...only if I have the budget and go to one of these knives stores....I would probably spend hours there...
Been shopping at SMKW for decades!!! They have any knife you want!
The place is amazing!

Our pleasure!
Should start a kid with a button lock.
You could probably get more views if you shortened your intro.
It was only 2:45 …😅
