Thanks, Mike. Tek was a bucket list item for us. We wanted to spend the week inside Denali. For dry camping, we love the "washer and dryer" set up. Works great for small loads.
Hi Sondra and David, another wonderful video along the Alaska adventure. love the Grizzly bear 🐻 it was an adult for sure. First day in Denali, truly a wonderland. I’m taking it all in. Again thanks 🙏 so much for my experience with you guys. Look so forward to the next video.
Ugh I felt so bad when I saw you stop at that gas station in Cantwell…always drive just beyond Denali and get gas at Three Bears in Healy - it’s SO MUCH CHEAPER even with the ten minute drive added on. I was literally saying “no no GO TO HEALY!” at the screen. 😆🤦🏼♀️ I’ve been hoping I’d run into you here - would love a chance to say hi! Glad you’re enjoying it here in Alaska!
Oh man! I know. I didn't think Cantwell would be THAT expensive. We saw the prices in Healy and just...well, you know..LOL. Give a shout if you see us. We'll be around until the end of September.

It’s Carlos from Victoria Tx. I’m loving your journey, I can’t hardly wait to get home and take notes on the places y’all are checking out. My wife and I are going to retire in April 2024 and we plan on taking the same journey that your on. Hopefully in 2025. We have a 2018 Grand Design Solitude 5 th wheel. We’re going to sale it and buy a used 36ft diesel pusher. I’m a little bit scared but I’m going to do it. May God Bless both of you with health and happiness.
Hi Carlos- Victoria gets hot in the summer...Alaska is a good place to spend the summer. A Class A motorhome is definitely an easier and more accepted way to RV. You should have no issues. Take it easy on the roads and don't be in a hurry. Frost heaves and potholes are no joke on some of the roads. Congrats on the pending retirement, enjoy the journey. Glad you're sharing our experiences.

Beautiful scenery & video David & Sondra !Just awesome …..how long is your rig & towing capacity ? ? Nice set up . Safe travels to you both & thx again for sharing . One of our favorite adventures in Alaska was visiting a training facility for Husky pups 🐶 that are used in the Iditarod races. 👍🐶⚾️
Thanks, Bob. We are 32 feet long, 54 feet towing the Jeep. Towing capacity is 10K lbs. I always thought Iditarod pups were high strung but they are actually very friendly.
Thanks, Dan. I'm glad we can take you along on the journey and let you experience all these special places. That means a lot to us, so thank you for sharing. We like the Class C since it's very maneuverable and let's us get into places that we couldn't with our big rig. It's a nice layout and allows us to be comfortable. For long term travel, you can't beat our big rig but the Class C is well suited for these other trips.
I had to look up where Dillingham is in Alaska. It's on the other side of Katmai and King Salmon. Wow. I don't see any roads leading to it so everything must be flown or shipped in on boat. Thanks.
Amazing video work David 😊 been watching for about two months seen most of your videos 👍 Sondra & David keep up with your adventures 🤓 stay safe with those 🐻 🐻 I know they are cute 😊

Hi guys... Another beautiful video... Couple of those pictures Were absolutely stunning...Jeanne and i Thinks Sandra looks good when I hair down... The drone shots are spectacular also...😊 It's a shame you cannot use it in the National Park... Stay warm and careful... Thanks for the video...J&A
Thank you, J&A. I know, the drone would have been really neat in the park. Sondra does a good job of previewing the 100's of pics she takes and selecting the best for the channel. Safe travels this summer, see you next week!
You two are scary crossing the bridge when it is being inspection did they give you the ok I don't think so oh ya stir fry mmm good And the washer and dryer that is cool what is the name on both maybe Amazon have a good safe trip take care happy camping
Hey, James, they gave us the OK to cross the bridge...that's why we had to wait. It was a routine inspection . No structural damage just an inspection. The Wonder Wash and Ninja Dryer are on the Amazon store. Thank you for watching. Have a great summer.
Great video's ya Alaska is on the bucket list wow the price of diesel can you use gas buddy in Alaska so are you going to invite the moose or the bear for dinner LOL take care happy camping
Just completed binge watching your channel. Great channel enjoyed it. Was wondering what happened to your camera shy Alaska travel buddies with the blue Jeep?
Thank you, Joseph. They were a couple we met at an HDT rally and were not sure about getting to Alaska on their own. We offered to let them tag along on the trip up to the border. Once we crossed at Tok, their own path began to explore Alaska.
You guys are great! I would love to see an up close look at your bike/ flat tow set up betweem Curiosity and Artemis. safe travels and keep up the great videos!
Hey Mike, we've been talking about doing either a short or part of another video on that since I think it's a bit unique (not a lot but a little). Thanks for watching the channel and we're excited to have you along on the journey. 😎
Hey Ron- Great question and thank you. We have been pleased with ours so far. We purchased it for several reasons : 1) 4x4, 2) under $200K, 3) built on F550 chassis with 6.7L diesel engine, 4) best layout in under 36 feet. We had concerns about a Thor product but the quality has been ok. We had to modify the plumbing a little from a bad design and a 25 item punch list which the dealer handled prior to pickup. Since being on our trip the only item which I had to address was the dinette slide had some rivets popping out on a bracket which made the slide operate a little "wonky". I fixed it with several lag screws and it works great. Now, it's an RV and made with some cheap materials but it's what we expected and operating great. Overall, we've been pleased with the unit. Hope that helps. The biggest advantage you have as a buyer is to purchase from a great dealer. The RV manufacturers depend on their dealers to fix a lot of items out of production. A good quality dealer makes all the difference.
Lol... we prefer Orion and Voyager as well, Thank you. 😊 Since we travel through different states and give some presentations at RV rallies, Montana laws were best suited to protect our vehicles engaged in those activities. Appreciate your comments.
She doesn't at this point but we're talking about if she wants to do something on her spreads...either via the channel or on our FB group, A Passion 4 What's Next.
Hi, I just discovered your channel. Am enjoying watching the AK trip. I, too, would be interested in seeing the layouts. I craft/scrapbook too, it’s not always easy while traveling. Thanks for sharing your travels with the UA-cam World!
No. Towables are allowed as long as "it's essential to the camping experience". A towed car or storage trailer is not essential to the camping experience. Great question. Hope this helps.
So, I had the crackers and cheese for the 1st half or so and munched out to some more fabulous scenery (really liked the Horseshoe Lake area) once again! But I've got to hand it to you for leaving the Jeep all by its lonesome. Don't know if I could have done that, honestly. Too much of a worry wart with my vehicles, but that's just me. Can only RV stand alone vehicles go to Tek? They don't allow people without RV's in there closer to the park? What? Maybe I missed that part between crackers, lol. I would think one of you could have driven it independently to another parking destination to be close by so you could use it and not have to move the RV. Oh well, you did what you had to do to have "your" experience. Those extra stickers, a new edition brochure and a Grizzly siting must have made up for it! #37👍
LOL...love cheese and crackers! When you stay at Tek you are not allowed to drive the roads in the park except to enter and leave at the end of your stay. This is to minimize traffic in the park. So only tenters or campers are allowed in Tek...no additional vehicles. It's a unique experience.
@@bigtruckbigtravels Is Tek the only place up there to be closer to the park itself? No other place(s) for tourists without RV's and just their cars/trucks?
@kbVACArestatecarsnrvs you can tent at Tek but due to the Pretty Rocks landslide the other campgrounds are being occupied by construction related personnel.
what do you do most of your filming on, like when you're hiking and talking to the camera? is it a gopro? i know it's not sondra's nikon b/c it's in the videos :) what nikon and lens does she use?
Hey, we generally use the Gopro for walking talking, sometimes our Samsung S21 or S20 phones too. Her Nikon is dated as it's a 5500 with a 300mm lens. She wants a new Canon dslr but is too cheap to buy it... may have to be a Christmas gift. 🎄
@@bigtruckbigtravels i understand your last statement b/c I'm the same way! I still can't believe all your videos are shot w/a gopro and cellphone! do you hold your cellphone with your hands or have a gimbal?
Hi Olik- it is safe to tow the Jeep in this fashion. We have 3 levels of safety equipment. The tow bars, the cables hooked to the Jeep and a "breakaway" cable which actuates the Jeep brakes if it should break free. Yes, we were 1 hour away from midnight. Pretty wild.
Thank you. Not sure I'm qualified to give advice... your goals, desires and personality have to be aligned and moving in the same general path. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
Wasn’t that hard, I was able to get three nights in July on May 3rd, there were plenty of options. I think the road being closed around mile 42 has made it easier to get into TEK this summer.
@@katleman thank you. I am not a planner so I was a little nervous about trying as I have heard that it was incredibly difficult. You have given me hope lol. I was in Dinali once as part of a cruise trip. Unfortunately, the train arrived after all the excursions had left and we left early in the morning before we could do anything but it sure was a beautiful trip. I have always wanted to go back and photograph. Although I am convinced that the department of tourism is making up the wild animals as well I was ever able to get where the rear ends of animals and then includes an eagle, a fish, a porcupine, and a Moose . Oh and Dahl sheep rear ends. It has now become the family joke.
DAVID AND SONDRA,HELLO, what’s the bit not allowing, the towed JEEP ? Anyhow, beautiful scenery, Asking about enough food, was liked, the same at DASONS CREEK, mouuuntain trek, for gold, back in the day ! Do enjoy, & looking forward to your next vlog, God BLESS ,, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey Flyby, I love your reference to the year's worth of food cache when the miners traveled up Chilkoot trail for the gold rush. They don't allow "non camping" vehicles inside the park. Trailers or motorhomes are ok but not towed vehicles. They want to minimize any traffic inside the park.
LOL, Kris, actually, Sondra wants to run into a bear! In Yellowstone a few years back, we were hiking and did run into a bear. We kept our distance and let him know we were there but Sondra was taking pictures like crazy! We normally carry bear spray and use sensible bear safety hiking techniques...like being noisy!

Well you have helped me add another place to visit to my bucket list... Great drone video work...
Glad we could be of "help", Michael. 🤔😁Thanks for watching the channel and we're excited to have you along on the journey. 😎
Our gas is 6.36 in Dillingham, AK it has been for the last year.
Thank you, Ben. Really appreciate the comments. We enjoy sharing our experiences so these may keep on coming! 🤣Thanks for watching the channel and we're excited to have you along on the journey. 😎
You two are scary crossing the bridge when it is being inspection did they give you the ok I don't think so oh ya stir fry mmm good
And the washer and dryer that is cool what is the name on both maybe Amazon have a good safe trip take care happy camping
I learned that geography classes in some other countries teach people that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent.
Hmmm... interesting. Thanks for the comment. 😃
Love your coverage of your trips- could I please ask your thoughts on your Thor Magnitude as I am considering to purchase one.
Stir fry recipe please that looks so so yummy.
It was very tasty. She may put that on our FB group, A Passion 4 What's Next or the Big Truck Big Travels on FB.
☺️💕
😊😍🤙
Really enjoy all your videos but like Voyager and Orion best. Just want to know why your vehicles have license plates from different states?
Lol... we prefer Orion and Voyager as well, Thank you. 😊 Since we travel through different states and give some presentations at RV rallies, Montana laws were best suited to protect our vehicles engaged in those activities. Appreciate your comments.
Sondra do you share your journaling somewhere? Would love to see some of your layouts.
Curious. Does the prohibition of towed vehicles extend to towable RVs such as 5th wheels or travel trailers?
Is your Super Duty a F550 or a F600 4X4
Hey Bob, it's a F550 4x4 with the 6.7L diesel. Lots of power!
Is it safe to tow your jeep like that,..I think one of you should drive it..
And, are you telling me it's less than an hour to midnight ?
Hi Olik- it is safe to tow the Jeep in this fashion. We have 3 levels of safety equipment. The tow bars, the cables hooked to the Jeep and a "breakaway" cable which actuates the Jeep brakes if it should break free. Yes, we were 1 hour away from midnight. Pretty wild.
Love your relationship , For a 22 year old like me any love/relationship advice please ?
Thank you. Not sure I'm qualified to give advice... your goals, desires and personality have to be aligned and moving in the same general path. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
@@bigtruckbigtravels Love from India sir
So how did you manage to snag a reservation at TEK?
Once again this video was awesome. Did I miss an explanation on why you are marooned there for a week? Thanks for the great scenery!
Aren't you scared hiking that you might run into a bear?
LOL, Kris, actually, Sondra wants to run into a bear! In Yellowstone a few years back, we were hiking and did run into a bear. We kept our distance and let him know we were there but Sondra was taking pictures like crazy! We normally carry bear spray and use sensible bear safety hiking techniques...like being noisy!
@@bigtruckbigtravels I certainly understand Sondra's desire to take pictures of bears and wildlife! Be careful!😄I am enjoying his trip!
Everything is OK except for your annoying laughter. It doesn't come out naturally. Sorry to tell you that. Don't force the laughter!
Thank you for watching the channel. We're excited to be able to share our experiences with everyone and to give back to the RV community.
Thanks for the wonderful videos, my Wife & I plus another couple were in Denali for our 25th anniversary.
Just celebrated our 43rd...have a great time...Chris & Joyce in Alabama.
Hey Chris & Joyce, congratulations on 43! It's a great park for sure. Our daughter lives in Huntsville so we are usually there around the holidays. We have family in Homewood as well. Thank you for watching the channel.
