Girl, I agree with you. It made me nervous to watch you slide. It’s 2 AM, I’m a 73 yr old great grandmother watching you do what I would love to do. Thank you for sharing.
Good thing it wasn’t a real blizzard or you may have had an entirely different experience. We have about your same setup with a ford f350 and an older lace. We added a low watt roof heater/air conditioner that we can run on a small generator because we got caught in a blizzard in Montana and couldn’t move for a week, the propane and wet heat and below zero temps wasn’t ideal. One gallon of fuel heats our camper for 15 hours of nice dry heat, no frozen windows. Love our Lance. We also have chains for the truck now. That blizzard taught us some valuable lessons in winter camper camping. We ended up digging out with a medal plate and a serving spoon, one of our sons “used the shovel” and didn’t put it back. It was an adventure of slip and sliding with nerve wracking stress! Lol
Hopefully you learned your lesson on what tires you should have in winter months in Colorado. Also a winch is never a bad idea for what you guys are doing out in the woods. This could have been a lot worse learn from it and be more prepared. Looking forward to more adventures.
Firestone tires are absolute junk. Even with these junk tires. Airing down would have helped. No shovel? Who doesn't carry a shovel camping? Colorado Mtn's are no joke.
Living in Minnesota, everyone I know, including myself, have tried the car mats. Nope. Doesn’t work. What does work? Cheap kitty litter. Lots of it. Not that clumping kind. Just cheap regular kitty litter.
Hey guys, glad you stayed safe! During cold weather camping, you should get a second LP tank and attach it to the roof ladder. I have seen many do this and it is a great backup. In warmer weather just don't refill the extra lp tank.
Great job and video! Can you guys buy another propane tank and have it filled up as a spare? You could just set it inside your camper while you are traveling. Amazon sells a plastic base that the tank can temporarily sit in so it doesn't fall over when traveling. I use mine when I detach my propane tanks from the trailer and drive to the fill up place. Just a thought for emergencies...and maybe a few dehydrated backpacking meals for backup too. 😉 Keep up the awesome videos!!
CONGRATULATIONS...you survived AND learned alot about cold weather / snow camping!! And, perhaps without realizing it, you learned alot about each other. You both seem to get along and I sense that continues "OFF CAMERA" as well! We camped in the same size Lance you have for many years and as we watched your video, we discussed what would would have done differently regarding staying warm!! Using your furnance will definately keep your rig warm, but based upon our experiences, and perhaps yours, it REALLY uses up your LP.. Here's a couple hints to consider re: getting more from your LP supply: 1. leave the oven pilot lite on, with the door open 2. find a clay pot, the size commonly used for house plants, and place it ocer one of your cooktop burners and lite the burner. IT will get very, VERY hot but it will radiate heat for many hours as it cools down. OBVIOUSLY, this can be a dangerous heat source and should be used with care nad only will you are awake. 3. in the morning, use the heat from preparing your tea, food, etc. to heat the inside. Consider getting a roll of "reflective insulation" (Home Depot) cut it to fit all windows and then pull your shades down. That will not only keep some cold out, but in the summertime, it'll keep the inside of you rig much cooler on very hot days. That's it for now....Keep Exploring and Having Fun!!
Keep in mind that some mountain roads, especially park roads, actually close in bad winter weather. Hope you at least registered with someone because if the road closes no one may come by and if you get into trouble, you are just on your own.
I live in Colorado. Weather predictions can’t ever be trusted. In the mountains, and even the Front Range, you can never be too careful, or overly prepared. Colorado weather can literally go from sunny to hazardous within 5 minutes. Sadly, many stories don’t end well.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed your video! Glad you guys made it out of their, my wife and I have been stuck in some pretty crazy snow before too so I understand the feeling! Looks like there are a bunch of suggestions already in the comments, but adding in my 2 cents for what its worth (hope it is helpful!). I would recommend always having redundancy for all of the major life supporting systems when camping in the cold (even if no snow is forecast) - i.e., more propane than you think you need for heat and cooking, extra food, extra warm layers, etc. I'm sure you are already planning to, but you should add some recovery gear to your kit like maxtrax, chains, a tow and snatch strap, and a few soft shackles. These can come in handy in any recovery situation, not just snow (think mud, sand, loose dirt). I would also recommend getting some good AT tires that are 3 peak mountain snowflake rated and have a fairly aggressive tread. (I like falken wildpeak at3w for full size trucks instead of KO2's, they last a bit longer.) You sacrifice wear speed for more traction, but if you are living in your camper, traction would win it for me every day to make sure I can always have traction getting in and out of campsites no matter what state I am in. Although it does little for ice, airing down your tires is always more helpful than not when traction is an issue. you can go down to 12-15 PSI and still be safe off road and increase your traction coefficient substantially, even in snow (ice is another story, but airing down can't hurt). Adding some sort of air pump to your kit to fill your tires back up would also be good incase you opted to air down because you wouldn't want to drive very fast on a main road with your tires so low. Hope you find some part of that helpful! Good luck to you on your future travels! Edit: I almost forgot! Keep a snow and dirt shovel on hand! I can't tell you the amount of times I have been stuck without a shovel when I desperately needed one! They make cheap compact snow and dirt shovels that can easily be stored under the truck seat or mounted on the exterior.
back in the 70's We were stuck in several feet of snow in Northern AZ , in a tent trailer ....definitely makes for a good story you guys did good thanks for the video !
That must have been tough on your guys. I always carry kitty litter, sand , tire chains and foldable tire tracks in my truck for a case like this. You hope never to use them but if you need it, you got it. Safe travels!
I’ve had Lance campers, travel trailers and been in the snow, mud and cold, had dead batteries, run outta propane etc…. Buy 4 V-Bar chains, 30’ 30k tow strap, a Little buddy propane heater and save your camper batteries and propane. Buy a quick jump starter and carry a 3000w generator, gas and a pancake air compressor. You have to be totally self sufficient and can’t rely on anyone but yourselves. And carry bear spray when you are in bear country, especially when you go for a walk. Looks like you had a nice adventure. Enjoy it!
I liked the style of video where you were discussing. It shows good communication and consideration in the situation that not everyone would think of when they face similar situations.
Good job guys! I was holding my breath till the end of the video. I’d recommend snow tires, chains, a big shovel and any emergency items that you didn’t have. Get a 2-way walkie talkie as well. Keep traveling!
This video doesn't remotely show how unprepared you thought you were for this excursion. It shows ingenuity, positivity and a calm collected spirit of adventure. Bad things can happen in warm, clear weather; dense, foggy weather or cold, snow blanketed weather. It's how people address, assess and conquer their concerns that makes them champion. You two, are champions!
Best video yet! Halfway through I thought about fast forwarding to the end to see how everything turned out because I was so afraid for you guys but I didn't fast forward. I was afraid you guys would be stranded for days and your heat would run out. I don't think - no I KNOW that I would not have found my way out of the campground until Spring because everything looked the same. Snow and trees everywhere. Well, I have a feeling from this point forward you will be more prepared but this wasn't you guys' fault. It was just a freak heavy snowstorm. It was exciting to watch though and that's why I said best video yet.
I was really on the edge of my seat pulling for you both. I know you were already out by the time I saw it. BUT I LOVE THE ADVENTURE . SAFE TRAVELS and GOD BE WITH YOU BOTH
Nice show you guys making it out. I wish I could have been there if at all to help. The good thing was you were together to help each other out and that is awesome. Thanks for sharing with the community.
Wow guys I’m so happy you guys worked together to get out of their i live in Colorado and what you experience could turn your adventure into a nightmare I think people sometimes believe a truck with big tires should get out of every situation but as you can see it’s not necessarily true it’s definitely a learning experience and it brings confidence in what I need to prepare for even when the weather calls for something different learning is growing and growing is maturity praying for wisdom and confidence in your next adventure God bless and take care❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoy watching camping out videos during severe weather -- and good ghost or bigfoot stories to boot! Lived in New England for 29 years, and I surely do not miss the weather!
So glad you guys are ok and got out. You were blessed no damage happened to the truck. Hard to believe this much snow ... Still 90 degrees this weekend in Texas. Loved seeing Barkley loving the snow. Thanks for sharing this scary adventure.
Looks like might be time for a tire upgrade. I know it's a trade off on mileage but maybe something to think about. Beautiful though!❤ A good attitude keeps it enjoyable for sure 👍 Thamks for taking us with you on your wintery adventure! ❤ 😂
That was very stressful watching I can't even imagine being there. You guys are a strong couple talked it through and got out. Great video just so glad you let us tag along on your adventures. Thank you and God bless.
If you get a portable air compressor , you’ll have the ability to air down and re-inflate and greatly improve traction. This Inconvenience is sure better than a real pickle. Good learning experience! Glad you made it out!
Loved the video. You two learned a little here it appears. I could read the stress and the elation in both of you. The happy ending kiss brought a smile to me. Be careful and keep producing videos of your travels. Barkley looks like he really enjoys the snow too!🇺🇸🦅🌴🌴🌴
Thanks for sharing and we all get into those situations and afterwards we all share the humanistic worries, rewards and growth! Great Job and say safe.
When y’all got unstuck I thought Amelia was going to do an end zone dance! Then as Connor was driving like Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights to make it to the pavement I had to giggle. 😂 So glad you guys made it out!
What I think is awesome about this whole scenario is that you guys showed what it was really like... not just the fun, hiccup-free experience. Authenticity goes a long way. I really enjoyed this!
A good rule for camping in Colorado in the months that have a "R" in them remember to have tire chains it can snow as early as September and as late as April, plus having full or a extra propane tank you never know safe travels.
Search on diesel parking heaters, runs on diesel 5 gallons will last about 2 weeks something to think about as an alternative heat source powers by 12volts and puts out a lot of heat.
slush is slicker than stick snow. plus, if slush freezes then it is solid ice. When the snow sticks to the tires then it grabs like making a snowball. So sticks to snow.
Just happened to stumble across your video. My gosh. I like how honest you are. Did you not check the weather forecast? I don't even see that you have the proper clothing or boots? I never saw a blizzard.... I saw snowstorm... Coming from someone that lives in Wisconsin blizzards are a whole lot more miserable and scary. There is wind.... And a lot of it and bitter cold. Glad you made your way to safety. Good luck with future videos
There's nothing quite like that feeling of finally getting out of a tough spot. You can have a hundred perfect camping experiences, but you need a little adversity to overcome now and then to get the blood pumping. Lots of good suggestions here on all the various equipment you should have in the snow (which you probably already know all about, but this is youtube, so us commenters are obligated to tell you what you should do). One I would add is a shovel. The nice thing about a shovel is you should really have it no matter what weather you are camping in. A short D-handle square point shovel doesn't take up a lot of room and you can do all kinds of things with it, from scratching in drainage ditches around your camp in a freak downpour, shoveling tracks ahead of you in the snow (in deep snow like this, the snow that builds in front of your bumper and differential is almost more important to deal with than the snow in front of your tires; tires can roll over and compress snow, but the fixed parts of the truck that drag in the snow just build up snow weight in front of your truck until your traction can't overcome the extra drag). Also, if you're graceful enough, you can sit on the shovel and ride it down a snowy slope like a sled, and it makes a mildly functional frying pan for the campfire in a pinch. Also, if no one is looking, you can play it like a guitar when a good song comes on.
Thanks for the helpful ideas, sure are a ton of uses for a good shovel. Looks like its on our list to add to the setup! And I’m sure it would be strung like a guitar a few times!
The snow should never come off in sheets when you are driving, because you should never drive with snow / ice on your roof. Don't be those people. Clean it all off well before you get on the road, no matter how long that takes.
I’m glad you guys made it out! I live in Flagstaff Arizona and the adage is know your limits and drive like no one is going to rescue you. This keeps you from making bad choices.
Next time you are faced with trying to move through a foot of snow, consider doing what’s done when people take 4WD vehicles on the sandy beaches: substantially lower the tire air pressure to get a better traction. Once back on dry pavement, you do need to re-inflate the tires, hopefully you do carry a compressor. If not, just drive very slowly until you reach a service station. Good video!
First time viewer and subscriber. Just found you guys and that was great. I love your camper and your dog is super cool and so are you both. This is what I like to watch and I am looking forward to more content and will check out your past content as well. Stay warm and safe.
Great teamwork!!! Although it was a winter wonderland, I would have been a bit nervous being the only ones at the campground . I think it will be a while before you are in snowy conditions again. Be safe. God bless! Pets to your adorable furbaby. ❤
Do you guys have towing companies? We have them here in Canada, a must if we get stuck. Also everyone has tow bars and chains. We all help each other out of snow. Glad you made it out, good luck!
once it stops snowing, if there is any question, you can go out and walk the roadway and toss fir bows down to make your course you will drive. Then once you get the truck going you can keep going non-stop
Might help to buy a pair of Zone Tech snow chains. There are also brands that make disposable studded strips that are just humongous zip ties. You attach 4-5 to the front wheels to get more grip. They weigh very little and can easily be stored in a ziploc bag behind the seats.
You did great together! Glad you got out safe and sound. 🤗 But echoing others, if you come to Colorado... always expect the unexpected. Have snow chains with you and practice putting them on in advance so you aren't figuring it out in the cold. Some passes require snow chains to drive through. Also, they have traction devices you can use in snow or mud that would be handy to keep on board. Stay safe.
Glad yall made it out!! I have to say my husband and I have been watching for a while. This was the best video ever, we felt the emotions, the fun, the fear, the frustration. Felt like for the first time we got to see a glimpse of your true personalities! We vote more raw and real!
Another great video! Thank you both for bringing us along and not leaving us outside in the snow... I'm retired in the Philippines now but planning on coming back and buying a truck camper soon and traveling like you are.. It looks fun and I love ebiking also!!! You all have made a great life there!!
Good job getting out. Make sure you have enough food, water, a covers to keep from freezing. Keep those fuel tanks filled . My real solution is to head SOUTH where it is warmer for the winter!! Safe travels!!
we were in CO around the same time with our truck camper! Y'all, what type of tires are you running?? We have the same truck and these rigs typically power through this type of snow! Also I love the part when you were like "i don't enjoy this one bit" and your bf is stoked 🤣 that's me and my bf when we are in a sketchy situation
We’ve seen your content on instagram and love it! Thanks for checking us out, we spend a ton of time in Colorado and can’t seem to get enough of it! We have the stock Firestone tires on right now but I think we’re switching to Nitto Exo Grapplers, they’re made for heavy duty trucks and say they’re supposed to be awesome in the snow/ice. It’ll definitely help next time we find ourselves in a sketchy situation!
ahh no way! thank you!! yes Colorado is magical, we will be passing through in December and January. We actually just got new tires in September and they perform pretty bad. But before were on the Duratracs last winter and loved them. I don't think you can go wrong with the Nitto Exo Grapplers@@LivingLargeCamping
Of course, we love following along! And that’ll be gorgeous, hopefully you can figure out a better set of tires before then. If we end up in the area we’ll shoot you a message!
PLEASE buy chains at the very least! And yes. I love the raw feed. It was nice to live it along with you. Thank you for taking the time to share your adventures with us.
I was about to say the same thing. Cold dry conditions are way better. They should have tried in the morning. When it gets above freezing, it's slimy. Multiple times they said they would wait for it to warm up. That's the opposite of experience shows. Ahh. I want to teach youngsters things like this.
Chains for snow and for heat I use a heat powered fan on a cast iron pan on a stove top burner. Keep the flame low and the fan will blow the heat around. I use 7 gallons of propane in less than a week using my furnace and stove or 11 days using my stovetop method.
Well done! Time to invest in some Maxx Tracks, tire chains, and a winch! Maybe a Garmin InReach, too. Also, what kind of dog do you have? I can't figure it out...
Well, you have another experience under your belt.Glad you love each other and made it safely through. However, use this time to make a survival kit and rules of safely esp. if you are compulsive. The more you are prepared makes each adventure even more fun.
Great video..beautiful snow..get rid of the summer truck tires and put real snow tires on for winter expeditions .a shovel is a basic tool that you should always carry with you. Extra propane ,,snow boots, food are all things that you now know you need to have with you.cant wait for your next adventure..❤❤❤
That wasn't a blizzard. That was a snow storm.
You are so right that’s a snowstorm. I’m rom Chicago & we know about blizzards
That’s exactly what I was going to say, it’s all relative to where are you from… to them it may have been a blizzard-speaking from Chicago, also.
😊it would be good to put chains after the rear wheels

@@kateymateymusic1 the off road tires and let your tires down if you get stuck
Yep. Good snow lugs on bead lock wheels would’ve made a difference.

@@LivingLargeCamping While you are at it you might also want to buy a set of snow chains, unless you are heading south to warmer climates.
@LivingLargeCamping a set of tire chains are cheaper than new tires. I wouldn't leave home without em in the winter.
We just went through a very similar situation! Great job guys! Glad you made it out👍
You both are a great team! You both stayed calm and just worked together towards a favorable result. Love your videos!
Thanks so much!
That was very stressful watching I can't even imagine being there. You guys are a strong couple talked it through and got out. Great video just so glad you let us tag along on your adventures. Thank you and God bless.
Thank you for the kind words!
If you get a portable air compressor , you’ll have the ability to air down and re-inflate and greatly improve traction. This Inconvenience is sure better than a real pickle. Good learning experience! Glad you made it out!
I was wondering if anyone would suggest airing down. I'm sure it would have helped.
We do have a compressor, just didn’t consider airing down. We know for next time!
@@LivingLargeCamping SERIOUSLY? You had the ability to air down and air back up again and DIDN'T do that? Jesus. SMH.
I don't air down unless really really have to. I need the ground clearance.
She just about did! Glad it was an enjoyable episode, not sure we’ll have another one like it anytime soon!
What I think is awesome about this whole scenario is that you guys showed what it was really like... not just the fun, hiccup-free experience. Authenticity goes a long way. I really enjoyed this!
Great job getting out of the snow!! You guys are a great TEAM!!
Thank you!
A good rule for camping in Colorado in the months that have a "R" in them remember to have tire chains it can snow as early as September and as late as April, plus having full or a extra propane tank you never know safe travels.
I think the dust pan company should have you as their multipurpose advertising 😂
Oh. My. Gosh. 😱 I was holding my breath watching this!! Y’all did a great job! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you for sharing with us! 🙋♀️😘
OMG! I loved it!! What a beautiful snow storm and so happy you got out! Great job you two! Cheers! ~M
Glad you enjoyed it!
All those evergreen branches would have given you lots of traction!!
Thank you for the kind words!
Stay safe.
Great video, the suspense was nail biting. Glad you’re both save, stay the way.
Glad you enjoyed!
It’s awesome that you guys worked as a team and didn’t get angry with one another. Hope you enjoyed your time here. Come back and visit anytime.
Thank you! We love Colorado
Great job and yes I like your videos!
when you said you didn’t know where the road headed - I held my breath! Great job!
This was a scary video! Glad you guys are both safe! Stay safe out there!
Glad yall made it out!! I have to say my husband and I have been watching for a while. This was the best video ever, we felt the emotions, the fun, the fear, the frustration. Felt like for the first time we got to see a glimpse of your true personalities! We vote more raw and real!
Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed, it definitely felt good when editing it!
I would be having the big one. How stressful..
you guys are amazing.
Another great video! Thank you both for bringing us along and not leaving us outside in the snow... I'm retired in the Philippines now but planning on coming back and buying a truck camper soon and traveling like you are.. It looks fun and I love ebiking also!!! You all have made a great life there!!
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate the kind words and support
Good job getting out. Make sure you have enough food, water, a covers to keep from freezing. Keep those fuel tanks filled . My real solution is to head SOUTH where it is warmer for the winter!! Safe travels!!
You guys are awesome! Great video and I love watching your stuff, I’m living in my truck camper while I’m working on the road:)
That’s awesome, maybe we’ll run into you somewhere along the way!
Good job guys, need to invest in some chains to help with traction
Thank God you are all safe ❤
we were in CO around the same time with our truck camper!
You should drive out early when it’s cold, warm weather just makes the snow wetter and way more slippery!
I was about to say the same thing. Cold dry conditions are way better. They should have tried in the morning. When it gets above freezing, it's slimy. Multiple times they said they would wait for it to warm up. That's the opposite of experience shows. Ahh. I want to teach youngsters things like this.
Glad you are ok. The pictures of the snow were beautiful. God Bless
.... WOWEE !! That was FUN ,, Let's do it again next week ....
so glad you succeeded with snow issue!! Love you two, keep on truckin’
Thank you! Will do!
I loved it! We’ve been there, done that. And could feel the emotions as we were watching you. Better than a movie! Thanks for posting,
y'all are rad! stoked to find your content today :) maybe see you on the road sometime!
We’ll keep an eye out for you!
Chains for snow and for heat I use a heat powered fan on a cast iron pan on a stove top burner. Keep the flame low and the fan will blow the heat around. I use 7 gallons of propane in less than a week using my furnace and stove or 11 days using my stovetop method.
❤wow that is excellent!
It’s not a perfect world, but make the best of what you’ve got….well done guys ! Greetings from down under,Australia……stay warm!
Thanks for the support!
@LivingLargeCamping I will watch your adventures....stay safe guys n warm hehehe 💓
❤ you guys are so natural and amazing at having fun solving problems and just being happy many hugs and good luck!❤
Well done! Time to invest in some Maxx Tracks, tire chains, and a winch! Maybe a Garmin InReach, too. Also, what kind of dog do you have? I can't figure it out...
Wow, that was 'fun'!! 😁
Did you remember to grab the leveling-blocks that you used at 18:20 ?? 🤔
heck no...they just buy new ones
Well that was scary to watch. I’m glad your safe and warm ! 💗
scary? what was?
Well, you have another experience under your belt.Glad you love each other and made it safely through. However, use this time to make a survival kit and rules of safely esp. if you are compulsive. The more you are prepared makes each adventure even more fun.
Great video..beautiful snow..get rid of the summer truck tires and put real snow tires on for winter expeditions .a shovel is a basic tool that you should always carry with you. Extra propane ,,snow boots, food are all things that you now know you need to have with you.cant wait for your next adventure..❤❤❤
