Robbie had to be the most annoying part of this movie. I never bought that his need to see the battle was bigger than his need to protect his little sister. And then they never explained how he even survived that explosion. Still this was a good popcorn movie back in ‘05 and still holds up

It wouldn't take that many aliens leaving and returning to ships to get the microbes to "pass" through the shields. That being said, we also know that different elements are available in various places around the universe, not just Earth. It could be that yes, there's something special about Earth. They need to make a character like J in a movie. The minute something suspicious starts happening he's like "I'm out ✌️". At the very end of the movie he comes running out of the woods and asks everyone what happened 😂
So when there is an alien invasion the rule of thumb is don't go with the crowd even though the saying is "there's safety in numbers" because its too chaotic to escape if that crowd has to disperse...
Honestly one of my favorite invasion movies is "Battle Los Angeles." Love how it doesn't worry about the whole world but focuses on a single Marine squad and some civilians.

This is a pretty darn awesome, albeit rather bleak movie. And this sounds pretty dark, but I actually really love the scene where Ray comes to the decision that he has to off Tim Robbins; the way it's all portrayed is really harrowing.

I'm from Bayonne too.My friends and I took off from work to be extras in the running scene.When the movie came out,we all went to see it,it was great.But when the credits came they never mentioned Bayonne or individual cities.They just thanked New Jersey and all the people that helped make this movie happen.The entire movie theater booed.
Parts of this movie were shot in Hoboken and Howell NJ. I live about 5 minutes or so from where they shot some scenes. Tim Cruise was on set for the scenes and he was really nice to the crowd who came to watch
About the birds landing on them. The birds weren’t sensing a threat, so they were landing on them, so he was urging the millitary to attack them, since they were already weak.
2:30 the Earth has a lot of unique resources for one location. Our location on the outside edge of the Milky Way galaxy might also be a key strategic thing.
I want J to play in a horror movie where he shows up to a creepy area with his friends, takes one look at the creepy location and just leaves. It could be an end credits scene where it shows his character just vibin safely in his own home.

When everybody then tuned in to the radio show at 5 or 10 past the hour, they had missed where it was announced at the beginning that this is a fictional story.

Yeah that's a great movie, much more of a war movie than other alien invasion films, it was shot quite well for something with a lower budget

Felt so bad for the basement guy. He lost what little mind he had left and the terraforming of the planet with human blood was the last straw.

I lived a block from the bridge that connects Staten Island, NY, to Bayonne, NJ. I lived in Bayonne at the time and watched them film the movie.
