Great video Ross. I have a UC Davis black Madeira tree . Finally got to try 1 out of the 3 figs that were on it . The animals got the rest . It was great ,super sweet . Intense Berry flavor . I didn’t find the skin to be real thick . The skin was really sweet though . The fig was small . Hopefully get more on the tree next year .
I've been growing this fig in a large pot for 3 years, it grows really healthy, full of figs but they never ripen. All the fruit stays green and eventually drops. I'm in zone 7B in AL. I appreciate anyone's help. Thank you.
Once again great 👍 video Ross! I’m a big fan of the Black Madeira Fig Tree 🌳! If you want? I have family that live in the Island of Madeira Portugal 🇵🇹 and I can get you clippings? Those Fig trees are all over Portugal and especially on the island of Madeira. Ross did you get my comment the other day ? It’s about my clippings they are blowing up with roots and leaves ! When should I pot them ? What mix of soil should I do? Should I still do what I have done 2 part sand 1 perlite 1 Potting soil ? Or should I go 1 part sand now or No sand? I think of these clippings like if there my babies lmao 😂!! Can I email the mother tree to you?
Another great fig review! Just wondering if you could do a review on black tuscan - as it looks similar to B.M, it would be interesting, taste-wise, to see how it measures up.
Jasmin Didović. Okay, but please dont call the guy my guy knows a liar. Im sure it would hurt his feelings and his reputation. I still love you though.
I need to add this variety. Thanks for the great review agina!
Very nice. I’m waiting for JFE to release their fall plants to pick up a tree. It should be soon.
Great fig insights- SF here and I THINK my main trees are black Madeira but not sure so this is helpful thanks

Should bought those Mike Kincaid had for sale a month ago. But it was too cold and I wasn't interested in fig then. . Now I'm interested March 2019

I'd take some cuttings...for science.
Something well draining!
Great info! I have the Black Madeira, I 258 and Smith on my wish list. I guess I can eliminate the Black Madeira from my list!
Here in zone 7, you can.
Do u have fresh cutting of black madira ?

Taste profile is exactly the same according to friends. Different growing habits, I'm sure.
BTW, nice fancy plate.. 5 points for presentation. ;)
I'd love to get one of these but wherever I find them they're insanely expensive!!!
That they are.
Wow that's a great review !
if you ever have a cutting I'd be interested. IN zone 9 CA would it ripen ?
Any fig in zone 9 would ripen!
Ross, i know a guy who knows a guy. He says if you grow figs on the international space station they taste far superior to mere earth ripened figs.
I know a guy, who knows the guy that knows your guy, and he says, he's a liar. :) Let's keep it real.
Jasmin Didović, its called a joke. But i still love you regardless.
@@menow6337 i know. That's why I reponded with my joke and smiled. Just like I smile at that space stuff :)

What is the proper nutrition for Ischia fig tree? Green with pink interior. I live in zone 7b, North of Atlanta, Georgia.
I've done a video on this topic a few months ago, Esther. Should be easy to find. "fertilizing container fruit trees."
My Ischia fig has not set any fruit this year. But it has tiny possible figs, will they survive the winter, and become figs next year?
If you keep the tree over 32F.
Actually I have a massive loaded striped fig tree Panache that never ripens !
mild summers and foggy , probably thats why
Panache is quite late.
Hey Ross, how does your bm handle the winter over there? Does it go in the green house?
Definitely. Needs a long season.
My fig tree has leaf looks like heart , I don’t know what is the name of that variety ?
Quite a few have a heart shape. What does the fruit look like?
Funny title where in the video you state that Italian 258 is superior. Regardless, thank you for vid.
It's definitely superior in terms of performance here. Taste wise... BM may have a slight edge.
