Except the Enclave was defeated by the Brotherhood of Steel, twice! And the brotherhood seems to have moved on from their Lyon ideals to the original traditional ideas... Which of course caused many to dessert due to chance in motives. But also caused the Outcasts to return.

I remember I spent about 30 mins in real time walking Dave there and then wren we got there and he told me to get lost. i have been using the linkin repeater . but mostly . i use the victory rifle . most of the time .
An early run to the PE bobblehead also provides this amazing rifle. At a point in the game where it can really shine. If you like to boost lockpick early = Bethesda ruins, then Dave.
knowing bethesda, in fallout 5 the republic of dave will be a gigantic military and a faction in the dlc "Smar Smarbor".

Gotta love Fallout 3. You're on a quest to find your own father, but in the process, you can get mixed up in a situation where you have the option of taking away some other kids' father. That's some heavy stuff right there.
Also, I made it the Republic of Rosie when I went there. Because fuck Dave. For some reason though, even though I didn't clear out Old Olney, when I went there later, Dave was still sitting and moping in a corner, despite being surrounded by deathclaws. Maybe it's because I didn't follow him there.

Even though I don't like Dave as an individual or a leader, he is the leader that they vote in. Dave treated his kids well because it fed into his ego, not because he cared or was a good father. He didn't discipline them or teach them, he spoiled them, because it fed his ego to be a "great dad". The kids are way better off without him.

ALRIGHT, buckle in y'all this is gonna be a thing. I went with Rosie and heres why. She had more experience, wanted to expand trading which would only help their town and seemed like a reasonable adult. I truely beleive the only reason he was "ok" with someone else having a vote was because he knew he couldnt lose. If we can do the math so can he. He knew that out of the five votes possible, he had three of them and if there was ever a doubt in his mind,voting wouldnt be an option.
Now, I hear what you all are thinking "well they voted for Dave! Hes what they wanted." and I counter you with this, these were his wife who was brain washed and nit respected what so ever, his side braud who was ofcourse all up about him bein president because SHE was then allowed some sort of power which she knew was fleating at best since Dave had already been a skeez and replaced his wife with some other braud (which lets be real, this is what he did. This wasn't an agreed upon thing between everyone and there was mutual respect and love involved in this. He just wanted to get his cake and eat it two) and she was actively jelous and hostle tward not only the woman who came before her but any threat that could even possibly come around, and the final one was the Bob shit head who was gonna be worse then Dave and he was sure he would get it out of the fact that he was his kid and of course I dont know what that "teachers" deal was. Maybe she found the place when she desperatly needed help, maybe Dave was treating her really well because she was stroking his ego with the museum and he was gonna want to make her one of his "wifeys" I dont know but she was deap in the cult.
So yes, Dave kept them safe, gave his kids shit and kept them fed, but only so long as he got what he wanted. The first time the "democracy" had "worked", cause yeah I rigged that shit so hard I threw my back out, he ABANDONED his family without a second thought. He didnt care if they would suffer, thrive, live or die. He didnt get what he wanted and he was outta there.
Rosie however used to have her own caravan and not just that but it sounded like a large lucrative one. They even say that she used to LEAD Dave. If she had such a caravan then she would also know how to protect it, which means that she can to just as well him at the very least. She would also know how to handle traders and expanding their little community as again sge has experience in these things. She also seemed like a genuenly kind person, gullible and dumb as hell but there have been so many people who have put up with worse then that pissy little idjet for love, who really had the best intentions of the people of the community to heart. Not just what was good for her and her ego.
I also must say that children can grow up to be just as happy and well adjusted with only one parent. I did. My mom and dad got devorsed right after I was born because he cheated on her with many other women. My sistef was seven at the time and it has hurt her and cause emotional strife but ultimatly we grew up with a strong influence who taught us that we deserve respect and that we dont have to just accept this behavior if we dont want to. He was always allowed to come see us, spend time with us and to take us with him but instead he chose himself and the last time any of us saw him I was 6 months old and then we only heard from him a few times untill I was 5 years old when I turned 18 and he no longer had to be responsible for me financially or parentaly. He never called my sister for her birthdays and every time he promised to come for them he never did. I typed all this to say that, yes perhaps my vew is shaped by these events, but I think its important to show that it doesnt matter if their you mother or father rhey can be toxic.
Now what is not good for the thes peoples children is to see leadership that is so selfish. To see that if they marry someone and they become president then they can have all the wives and kids they want (again because this is not a polyamorous relationship, this is just gross and disrespectful as hell) and to grow up ib a society were to question their father, their ruler, is an act of treason or what ever. He did not care for his family. He cared for his power and how it made him feel. If he cared he would have bit the bullet and stade no matter the winner.
And finaly, because I havnt talked about it enough (sarcasm) him having two wives isnt a problem. There are polyamorous people just as there are monogomous people and aromantic individuals. If the two marriages was between three people who respected eachother and what not. Neat, y'all do you I wish you all the best. But what this was is a man who was collecting wives because he thought that he had the right to. Hell he probably wouldnt even beleive the "repopulating" shit if he was a real dude. He wanted a sencond wife because the new one stroked his ego and she was probably younger or something stupid. People in the Fallout world are probably more poly then we see cause there would be more important shit to worry about then some aniquated social norms. I'd say it would probably be as normal as monogomous relationships, which again is fine. Hell if done right its fine in the real world, y'all again do you. But what he did is messed up and wrong.

I think Rosie is best for the large family and the "republic". Sure, the kids lose out on a father, but I genuinely think having Rosie leading them and parenting them without the toxicity dave had is better for the kids growing up. I mean, look at what Dave's attitude did to his son Bob - turned him into just as much - if not more - of a tyrant. Maybe if Rosie is a leader she can actually make something of that small community, perhaps it can grow into a reasonably decent settlement.
