You broke his attacking prowess with a pushing strategy. Very well done! He adapted by lifting instead of spinning. That's where the current weakness of your forehand came to surface. Two fortunes: net/edge were on your side and Joseph didn't change his serves to more side/top. Overall a victory that will give you confidence. You can shift back to the attacking style you probably prefer, but you have defence up your sleeves when you need to get some free points.
Yes, I definitely had some VERY lucky nets and edges, but if he did do more topspin, think I could have adapted, depending on where he served to. I was actually pushing because I was paying a LOT more attention to what type of spin was coming back to me instead of assuming the spin thanks to an earlier comment by you on another match. I think that helped prolong the rally and kept me 'paying attention' more. The spin awareness is definitely deepening.
1:08 try to use your BH and aim with control for the far corner. Just a nice controlled block should win the point. That way you don't have to twist as much and force the FH.
Thank you! I think the pushes may have really made the difference in this match for two reasons: #1 - They had a lower failure rate and #2 - I was being more conscience of what type of spin was coming my way. I wasn't perfect by any means, but the push response was the most appropriate and is why I did push it. Also, when I went to his FH it jammed him up and that's why it worked. I played him twice this night, so stay tuned for Match #2 against Joseph!

In any case, good match. Liked that you're being more active with your shots. Looking much more natural and relaxed 👍
I also liked that you weren't scared to push long to his FH. Make the opponent prove they can do a skill before you avoid it
