This was great. I have been extremely ideologically biased and driven in an effort to subconsciously escape from my feelings of disgust and now have become disgusting myself, I disgust myself lol. Well at least it allows me to feel the disgust instead of projecting it into the world.
Glad I found this video. Im learning how much my Avoidant Attachment Style has really kept me in dark regarding my emotions. Unawareness of negative emotions until contempt arises is more common than I thought. So again, Im glad I found this channel on emotional functioning to help learn awareness about my emotional states.
I think it’s important to remember just how multifaceted we all are. We all have so many interests and hobbies and likes and dislikes. Our brains want to put everything/everyone in a box but it’s not the reality of who we are!! None of us are black or white. We’re all just different shades of gray.
This was very helpful and exactly what I was missing. I’ve been doing some self healing and diving deep into my belief system. I always wondered why disgust was part of the basic emotions because I had a limited understanding. Thanks for clarifying
is 'smirk' face considered contempt? there are databases with face photos for facial emotion recognition and 'smirk' faces are within the contempt class.
Possibly. Probably? That's a good observation because my initial reflex is that it's a passive-aggressive way to communicate approval but in a condescending way. Great observation, I want to dig more into this.
Has anyone reading this ever worked with or met a person you interpreted as deficient in contempt rather than normal or too high in it?? Trying to figure out a thing..
Amazing insight. Personally, I hold tight to my beliefs without showing contempts to others. I believe that each person, personal opinions and believes are a small part of the bigger picture, therefore, they cannot contradict, only add up to the truth. sorry about grammar, I’m blind. Don’t you dare try to label me!
I believe that you can be passionate about your beliefs while also being nonattached to them, such that you can change your mind if the information changes. And I'd never label you! ua-cam.com/video/dSXPOqROUTI/v-deo.html

I am surprisingly fine with that.

Thanks for saying that, I appreciate it. Glad it could help!

I saw someone who had this combination of these facial expression last week. It kind of rattled me - I was surprised to see it.

Have you seen the book, "A Hunter Gatherers Guide to the 21st Century"? (Weinstein)
You have alot of interesting ideas too.
No, but I will check that out, thank you!
Contempt is not a fight response.
Contempt is a status signal, used to scare low-life, free-riders away form the 'rich' group.
You just explained Trump and his loyalist cabinet and followers.
Or, you know, alternatively, the way they've been continuously labeled, othered and scapegoated by the left- leaning media?
