Taxi Driver is an amazing Scorsese film. In my mid 20s, estranged from my abusive broken family and working super long hours living alone on a farm, it really resonated with me. I used to go walking in malls on my day off just to be around people. I'd hit up the bars and clubs by myself and be super socially awkward, and I pushed my body to breaking point on the pull up bar.
Oh no, are there updates to this travesty? I love Wicked. I hated the book, but the musical is incredible. I’m so disappointed they’re making a movie. 😓
I do not watch John Wick for how realistic it is, I watch for the dry, emotionless responses of Keanu in extremely inappropriate situations and of course, enough bullets to arm a small developing nation.
Pretty sure Mario is still the hero of the Mario movie. It looks like peach helps to train Mario. And, I mean, she rules a kingdom, it makes sense she knows things he doesn’t (especially since she’s from the mushroom kingdom and Mario isn’t). Also, she is a playable character in a lot of games. If you think that she can’t fight, then boy you haven’t played the games. I will say that it does seem like they changed peach’s personality. She is a badass and runs a kingdom, but you also see her make cakes for Mario, make quirky jokes, and her movement is typically more graceful and less… b-line? However, you can only get so much from a trailer. We’ll see what she’s like in the movie.
When he said, “we’ll get to the ones that look really bad in a second…” and than the trailer for Oppenheimer immediately played I was like, “Careful Ben…”
I'd be particularly sad if "Puss in Boots 2" went woke. It has the potential for some good cat-based fun, a lot of feels, and heartfelt reflections about aging and wishes. Especially when my cat Spunky is getting older.
I think we’re missing Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, which I think is a definite Wife Zone, and I’m really rooting for it to be a massive hit. Tom Cruise continues to show he’s unkillable and 100% dedicated to the art of action and pure entertainment, Christopher McQuarrie proved with Rogue Nation and Fallout that he knows how to write a good twisty action/thriller, and that he has the ability to direct those scripts with good pace and superb production quality, and the fact that they have stated that this is reaching a definite end (Part 2 will be the last MI movie) shows me that this isn’t just a quick buck blockbuster; Cruise and McQuarrie are crafting a proper sendoff to the greatest action hero of the 21st century.
Dead Reckoning has to be in the "classic" category. Cruise and McQuarrie make movie magic together. Can't believe Ben doesn't even categorize the movie in this video; especially since "Rouge Nation" and "Fallout" were classics.
Love this! Can we get a part 2 with: Cocaine Bear, Napoleon, MI: Dead Reckoning, 65, The Flash, Wonka, Dungeons and Dragons, Aquaman, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Elemental? Would love if you update the board as they come out/ you see them!
I would say that making Peach kick but in the movie is not off brand for Nintendo. They really don't cave to the woke. All the way back to the Super Nintendo in Mario RPG, Peaches was a playable character. So I think the movie is really more directed towards long time fans of the game franchise. At least I hope it is. I will say that when Nintendo was attacked by the woke mob over a hairstyle in Animal Crossing on Switch, they basically told the community, it's for everyone, if you like it play it, if not, then don't. Basically told the woke mob to go play something else since they wouldn't be changing their game for them.
It also seems Mario is completely new to this world of fighting from the scenes so it makes sense for peach to be a lead. The games don’t really show much of a backstory of how Mario got to the mushroom kingdom, at least I haven’t seen such
@@jr2904 you won't get many calling it "woke" because Samus is an original character that has ALWAYS been female. the woke backlash comes at characters changing core features (such as male/female, race) to satisfy an agenda. if they did a movie about Metroid and casted Samus with a male actor, i would be upset at that.
And how about Super Princess Peach for Nintendo DS? That was a great game. I've got no problem with Peach taking on a hero role. My daughter loves Mario, and I'm excited to take her to see the movie.
I agree. Personally, I believe it was one of the best movies I've seen released in the 2010s. Andrew Garfield's performance was brilliant and possibly one of the best I've ever seen.
Since I've read Dune, I will say that I think part 2 could be amazing. Part 1 has been labeled an exposition dump (which is pretty much the same in the book) but the latter parts of the book have more interesting stuff and don't really introduce anything new. For the most part they develop what's already been introduced save for a few things. But overall, if they stick to the book and maybe try a couple of new things, I think it will be great. I do appreciate sticking to the source material, but who doesn't like a nice little surprise here and there?
Yeah, and Geez Luiz…. Do they ever shut up with saying “What's important is family”? Like, everything Dominic Toretto says, basically involves saying “family”. WE GET IT ALREADY!!!
Yep. Crazy-Hot matrix. "Above a nine on the crazy axis is where you get strippers, hookers, and girls named Tiffany. It's where you get a bun in the oven and your car keyed. Just don't go there." That Ben used it for raiting movies, wow!
@Arvem its an over the top action movie that is visually stunning and the action set pieces have some the best choreographed fight sequences I've seen in a movie. I'm also not too much of an action movie guy but it qas entertaining to say the least.
Gotta say...as a nerd...My butt is going to be in those seats day one of the movie release. It's been guided by the Japanese (they refuse to be woke) and it's Nintendo's precious property... They won't let it get wokified... Nintendo doesn't let anyone touch their properties after what happened to the first Mario movie and Zelda series.... And CDI games...... Etc... oof
Sadly the biggest problem with Nintendo is how strict they are with their copyright. If anyone tries taking their characters and making a slight modification to them, a cease and desist letter will be nailed to your door.
"Apparently they made, because they have to, Princess Peach the hero of the film." SPOILERS: She's not. She serves more as a mentor figure/possible love interest to Mario. Plus, She grew up in the Mushroom Kingdom her whole which is why she's like this. At the end of day, Mario and Luigi are the *heroes.*
1. Roosevelt is not coming out this year because it hasn't even been greenlit let alone shot. 2. Scorsese does however have a film starring DiCaprio and De Niro coming out this year and it's based on a book about the Osage Indian murders in the 1920s called "Killers of the Flower Moon". I've read the book and it's fantastic, I hope it's adapted well.
I hope you are correct about Dune. The first one was good, but they are departing from the source material for the second. It's going to be about Chani, not Paul. Perhaps it will be well-balanced, but honestly, Hollywood does not get the benefit of the doubt any longer.
@@kedb621 The Director, the writer, and the producer all said it. In other words, Denis Villeneuve said Chani would be the main character of Dune 2. It's not exactly a secret.
I agree with 90% of Ben prediction, but i have two observations: 1- I believe Mario is Danger Zone, because Illumination doesn't have a history of being very woke; 2- How Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning - Part One wasn't in the list ? Tom Cruise is amazing and the franchise is one of the remaining not-woke and very popular
Creed 3 has nothing to do with Mr. T or any of the previous Rocky villains or their kids. Damian is Adonis Creed’s childhood friend. So it’s literally the biggest departure from the original Rocky films to focus more on Adonis personal struggles.
I understand Peach being a “girl-boss” cause she was in some of the video games. It’s generally a far more interesting character for her, ALTHOUGH idk if they’re doing that in the film for the reasons we’d hope. I’d put the film in the Wife Zone.
I gotta respect Nintendo for doing it to be honest. As a Mario fan me and the rest of the fandom WANT her to just stop being kidnapped for once😭. Plus it would make sense because she’s always been kidnapped so to have it happen again in the movie would just make it kinda predictable because we’ve already seen that situation a bunch of times.
I agree, I think the purpose of giving peach is stronger role in the movie is to increase Mario's respectability in the movie. Because it is more respectable to be given a quest by a competent ruler than a foolish one.
@Terrifying AltAcc Yeah, it was a funny contrast. She could fight and all when she needed too but she was sweet and bubbly and didn't have an action hero persona. It's what I don't get with the internet complaints about Pratt's Mario voice but Peach"s personality change you aren't allowed to discuss at all.
It was done in the video games to BE woke. But to be fair, it's not that bad. I'm not inherently against female protagonists or against feminism even, I'm against woke third wave feminism. The movie is for little kids. If it empowers little girls that's great. I played more Mario as a 30 year old man born in the 90s than today's kids, but it's still not my movie it's theirs. I wish more people realized that. Time to grow up, yeah?
Ben missed two: Mission Impossible 7, and Shazam 2. I'm personally a huge fan of the Fast and Furious movies, and am stoked for the new Transformers because I grew up with the Beast Wars cartoon, so I disagree with him on those, but pretty much agreed on everything else.

I'm super excited for ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, mainly because the book was amazing in my opinion. And words cannot express how badly I want "The Little Mermaid" to be good. Peach has been a bit of an action girl (granted mostly outside of the mainline 2D and 3D) for a long time. I’m not ready to dismiss Mario as a fun movie to see so easily. Granted, I highly doubt Ben would get any enjoyment from watching it one way or another.
Kind of weird to have the baseline be a woke/good scale when you aren't even using that scale once you draw the zones 😛 Also, I'm actually really excited about the Mario movie. I am worried they'll make Peach way too in your face "badass", but if they don't, and she's just a competent character, I think it'll be fine. Guess we'll see.
peach has always been occasionally badass in the games, shes mostly portrayed as a helpless princess though but in action types games she can hold her own. though yes, they shouldnt try to make her some symbol of woman power since that isnt really her character
@@uno9915 yeah, we don't get to see much of her personality in the main games but in the RPG games and specially Super Princess Peach (in which she just jumps into action herself to save mario) we get to see a lot more of her.
@@xitaris5981 Lmao perhaps. I think what's interesting is that the phenomenon of "encountering the Woman brings to light the insecurities and shortcomings of the Man" need not be a woke thing. It is an emanation of woke culture if the Woman does so to denigrate the Man and to narcissistically preen about her superiority in vengeful spite. However, in cases like -- for instance -- Nala calling for Simba to rise out of his juvenile frivolity and return to his kingdom to reign as king, it's actually quite a non-Wokist idea. It's the exhortation for the Man to manifest the form of masculinity that is most competent and virtuous so as to be worthy of kingship (or of union with an equally competent and virtuous Woman). In all this, therefore, there is the question of motivation behind the Woman's calling-to-attention the Man's shortcomings: is it vindictive and mocking, or is it to incentivize the Man to aspire for the greatest manifestations of the Masculine? From what little amount we've seen so far, Peach does not display the spiteful venom that is latent in -- say -- the 2016 Ghostbusters remake; instead, in her remarks about how vast and beautiful the world is, she seems to be introducing Mario to a larger spread of Being, with the implicit effect of inspiring in Mario the spirit of exploration and nobility -- in short, the spirit of the Archetypal Hero. Potentially, anyhoo. It is true that there's very little footage of the thing so far, so who's to say, haha.

Claiming the Super Mario Bros movie will be worse than the little mermaid is a crime. I also think there needs to be a category for if you have kids. Going squarely in wife zone for us.
Facts!!
Agreed! Also I'm a big fan of Chris Pratt and I'm on his side when it comes to this voice casting war that's going on within fans. The teaser trailer looks pretty Mary Sue, but I'm hoping that the rest of the movie is not that woke.
I’m just waiting to hear Jack Black’s Bowser and how his dialogue will be.
@Kang Gaston Yet I would rather see a "Live Action" Metroid ( PG-13) or a "graphic novel Art style" LOZ! 🙄🤨😉
Peach looks so fucking stupid in this movie though... I was excited at first but now I see it's more forced social agenda bullshit into the culture
How no movies were in the dating zone is reflective of how seriously Ben takes the subject of marriage, haha.
🤣
As soon as Ben put Cillian in the classic zone, my respect for him skyrocketed! 😍
I always love when Ben does videos outside of the normal Ben Shapiro show. Movie reviews and personality tests and that sort of stuff are fantastic
“It can’t stray too far from the book”
Me, a Wicked fan, watching them destroy one of the most beloved musicals on Broadway 😭
I’m reading the comments while watching the video and now I’m scared. No!! Not Wicked!!!
Funny enough the musical strays rather far from the book and that's a GOOD thing.
Oh no, are there updates to this travesty? I love Wicked. I hated the book, but the musical is incredible. I’m so disappointed they’re making a movie. 😓
@@ninjaartist1235 yeah it’s not looking good. They’re breaking it into a two part movie, adding new songs, removing old ones… I’m not optimistic
@@williamwalton9154 yeah I was more referencing the way that they’re straying from their source material of the musical which is so so so good
I do not watch John Wick for how realistic it is, I watch for the dry, emotionless responses of Keanu in extremely inappropriate situations and of course, enough bullets to arm a small developing nation.
Plus I mean the fight scenes choreography it's insanely impressive.
Exactlyyyyyy
Ben requires so little to get triggered and completely filtered sighted.
Ben isn't a gamer and it seems he's never seen Smash or 3D World. So I don't blame him.
The Mario movie prediction aged like milk
When he said, “we’ll get to the ones that look really bad in a second…” and than the trailer for Oppenheimer immediately played I was like, “Careful Ben…”
Only Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire can create an almost 20-minute video about rating movies and keep me entertained. lol
Always love it when Ben talks movies or TV shows.
Critics are hating the Mario Movie for not being woke enough. That’s a great sign.
Him and Keanu Reeves maybe be the last action stars....
Dude I've always liked MI but since ghost protocol I've loved every single one. I'm hoping this is gonna be amazing
Cant believe this wasn’t on his list. This is the one I’m most looking forward to next year. Maybe along with Wick 4
Unlike Indy 5, here you will get the real stunts. Thank you MI for keeping to your roots!
Shazam fury of the Gods, the flash
And creed 3 with him seeing the actual trailer🤦🏻♂️
Brother you also have a schedule? Badass!👍
Killers of the flower moon hasn’t even had a trailer.
Bro when tf is that napoleon movie gonna come out already
I would say that making Peach kick but in the movie is not off brand for Nintendo. They really don't cave to the woke. All the way back to the Super Nintendo in Mario RPG, Peaches was a playable character. So I think the movie is really more directed towards long time fans of the game franchise. At least I hope it is. I will say that when Nintendo was attacked by the woke mob over a hairstyle in Animal Crossing on Switch, they basically told the community, it's for everyone, if you like it play it, if not, then don't. Basically told the woke mob to go play something else since they wouldn't be changing their game for them.
If they decide to make a Metroid movie I'm gonna laugh at all the people saying it's woke because Samus is a woman
It also seems Mario is completely new to this world of fighting from the scenes so it makes sense for peach to be a lead. The games don’t really show much of a backstory of how Mario got to the mushroom kingdom, at least I haven’t seen such
Peach was playable in Super Mario Bros. 2 on NES.
Please review Mario. Mario is a slap to Disney!! No BS, no life lessons, it's just a fun movie !
Well it does have some life lessons:
-Value determination.
-Be loyal to the people you care about.
-Conquer your fears.
-Never give up.
Cant wait for:
1. Oppenheimer
2.Dune II
3.Mission impossible dead reckoning.

@@A_Guy_With_A_Girl_pfp it looked great. I loved the trailer
"Silence" deserves far more credit than it is given. A gem of a movie.
I agree. Personally, I believe it was one of the best movies I've seen released in the 2010s. Andrew Garfield's performance was brilliant and possibly one of the best I've ever seen.
I believe Scorsese alone said the film was meant to be his Magnum Opus.
A dark souls reference in Ben Shapiro? What a time to be alive.
I'm like a Ben Shapiro anti fan, but Ben gets major props for his meme game. Idk who gets got working there but they're good.
Ben comes across as funny and likable in these movie review things. I love it!
FAST X - Perfect placement on the board! 👍🏼 I’m absolutely disgusted at this point on where physics no longer applies to the franchise.
Did it ever?
Yeah, and Geez Luiz…. Do they ever shut up with saying “What's important is family”? Like, everything Dominic Toretto says, basically involves saying “family”. WE GET IT ALREADY!!!

I'd say the mario movie turned out pretty well. Least woke movie I've seen this year, and an absolute ton of nostalgic references.
John wick 4 wasn't woke. Both were good flicks
@@austincarlson9270 I didn't see the movie myself, so I'll take your word for it
@Arvem its an over the top action movie that is visually stunning and the action set pieces have some the best choreographed fight sequences I've seen in a movie. I'm also not too much of an action movie guy but it qas entertaining to say the least.
I would want to see Ben rank all Oscars winners according to this scale.
Etc... oof
Agreed. Mr. Miyamoto himself has been working closely with the studio to make sure they don't stray from his vision
Sadly the biggest problem with Nintendo is how strict they are with their copyright. If anyone tries taking their characters and making a slight modification to them, a cease and desist letter will be nailed to your door.
@@Pichulover69 THAT is very true... But at least the Mario movie won't be woke.....

"corrections"
Wick 4 - classic
Mario - dating
FX - dangerzone (the definition of popcorn flick)
Dune 2 - wife
Gaurdians - danger
"Apparently they made, because they have to, Princess Peach the hero of the film."
SPOILERS: She's not.
How do you get that it’s going to be about Chani?
@@kedb621 The Director, the writer, and the producer all said it. In other words, Denis Villeneuve said Chani would be the main character of Dune 2. It's not exactly a secret.

RIP every fantasy show based on a book on Netflix
I trust Ben to talk about movies because his wife is a doctor.
Trust the science
For those of you unaware, his wife he keeps mentioning in the video is, in fact, a doctor.
I agree with 90% of Ben prediction, but i have two observations:
1- I believe Mario is Danger Zone, because Illumination doesn't have a history of being very woke;
2- How Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning - Part One wasn't in the list ? Tom Cruise is amazing and the franchise is one of the remaining not-woke and very popular
Little fun fact: Instead of relying on cgi environments for Oppenheimer, Nolan will be using REAL EXPLOSIVES to mimic the Trinity test.

RIP planet.
In the games, she doesn't have a smug girl boss personality though. She's more kind and whimsical and girly.
Ben missed two:
Mission Impossible 7, and Shazam 2.
I'm personally a huge fan of the Fast and Furious movies, and am stoked for the new Transformers because I grew up with the Beast Wars cartoon, so I disagree with him on those, but pretty much agreed on everything else.
You can't think of any classics from the last decade? I can name a few:
Joker
Belfast
The Father
1917
Grand Budapest Hotel
Dunkirk
Darkest Hour
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
Just Mercy
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Lincoln
There are quite a few diamonds in the rough if you take the time to look for them.
I love Ben's mildly upset noises that he does as he's talking about woke junk.
Also his Mario voice is 10/10.
I agree
Think I might be a Nolan fangirl, just excited for pretty much anything he does. I can't wait for Oppenheimer and the entire cast is great, especially Cillian Murphy. also looking forward to MI:7 Dead Reckoning - cuz I love anything Tom Cruise does and it is the only franchise that ive seen and loved. Cant decide between the two which im more excited for

I’m actually alright with the change with Peach. She doesn’t have much character in the games, so it’s nice they’re making her an actual leader that’s gonna be contributing lol.
In some of the games peach is also a character of nigh god level power so it’s not really all that much of a character change to begin with

I'm super excited for ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, mainly because the book was amazing in my opinion.
And words cannot express how badly I want "The Little Mermaid" to be good. That movie was my childhood and I really don't want the movie to flop, but given their live action remake track record, it isn't likely. :(
Ben you’re missing the most important movie: Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning! The only movie I’m looking forward too, so much so that I have a monthly countdown on my phone haha
“La fu” translated is “the fool”. Disney really stepped in it with the beauty and the beast remake
Le fou. is the correct term. Also Fol is old french variation, folle is the french female variant.

Saying “cringe” is cringe
Peach has been a bit of an action girl (granted mostly outside of the mainline 2D and 3D) for a long time. I’m not ready to dismiss Mario as a fun movie to see so easily.
Granted, I highly doubt Ben would get any enjoyment from watching it one way or another.
John Wick definitely deserves the classic zone
If people go watch that shitty new Little Mermaid, if it's a huge box office success, it's the end.
Kind of weird to have the baseline be a woke/good scale when you aren't even using that scale once you draw the zones 😛
Also, I'm actually really excited about the Mario movie. I am worried they'll make Peach way too in your face "badass", but if they don't, and she's just a competent character, I think it'll be fine. Guess we'll see.
One thing I respect about her characterization in the trailer so far is that she doesn't seem to belittle Mario in her moments of competence.
peach has always been occasionally badass in the games, shes mostly portrayed as a helpless princess though but in action types games she can hold her own. though yes, they shouldnt try to make her some symbol of woman power since that isnt really her character

Oppenheimer and Dune 2, thats all you need to see next year.
Already classics.

Princess Peach is off-putting though. Due to wokeness im now wondering whether she is just female protagonist or a wokeness figurehead due to Mary Sue appearance.
I will probably abandon movie by default.
@@verti3213 idk with a Japanese company involved the wokeness might not be that bad, I don’t think Japan really roles the same way America does. Could be wrong though, I don’t see much wokeness come from Nintendo and maybe Nintendo doesn’t have much to do with the film to begin with
@@vader3708 good point. Japanese don't give a shit so maybe their movie with female protagonist is a movie instead of propaganda?

I have to say I think Mario will still be the hero of his movie, he just has to train to get to that point first. And Peach was a playable character in Super Mario Bros II, so she hasn't been entirely just a damsel in distress, even from close to the beginning. I think this one will be pretty good
Ben’s Mario Movie take is awful.
