    New to the channel. I definitely subscribed. I love the fact that you put more than one meal idea in the video. It really helps, because you're giving variety without forcing me to figure out what I'm in the mood for when I don't have a clue, lol. I appreciate it!

    I’m with you, I can’t handle the texture of mushrooms. That’s a shame the jicama was a struggle to get through, but glad it turned out ok! Thanks for sharing these recipes😊

      Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment, Amy! 💜 I have tried so many times, over the years, to make myself eat mushrooms and I just can’t. I’ll keep trying different kinds though. 😬 Surprisingly, the jicama tastes great even though I couldn’t get it to the texture I’d prefer.

  • @ocrun6765

    Looks great. Maybe boil the jicama for 5-7 minutes first. I just had jicama for dinner and like that it doesn't get spongey like radishes. And your husband was nice to you, Philly cheese steak is supposed to have mushrooms in it too.

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому

      Thank you! 😂 Good thing I used all the mushrooms up on his.🤣 Boiling first is a great idea! I’ve only used jicama to make fries, in the past, and they were always excellent.

    Do you ever post the macros for your meals?

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому

      When it’s one of my original recipes, I figure them up and post them on my recipe but when it’s someone else’s original recipe, you need to refer to it for macros. I really suggest people figure their own macros out though, depending on which specific ingredients they choose, as it will vary depending on those choices. Most meals I choose fall well below 10 net carbs per serving.

    Have you tried using radishes as a potato substitute? If so, how did it go?

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому +1

      I have and they are usually super good! Texture wise they are so similar to potatoes but do have a spicy taste to them that took me a while to get used to.

    • @psychicgambler9883
      @psychicgambler9883 4 роки тому

      Suz And The Crew good to know. I had heard they weren’t spicy after being cooked. I have been holding back trying it. I was hoping to fool hubby lol! Guess that would be a no. Stay Well ❤️😘🙏

    Question. What is an alternative for honey garlic chicken? I made it for my family last night, of course, non keto but I was thinking what would you substitute the honey for? The sauce is only sautéed onion, garlic, honey and soy sauce and chicken broth. Thanks 🙏 in advance

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому

      That sounds AMAZING! 😋I would try the Sukrin Gold Syrup amzn.to/33xMfRA . It's low in net carbs and as long as you're cool with the corn fiber in it, it would be a great replacement for honey. It's a little pricey but you get a lot and it lasts a long time. I also love all of Choc Zero's syrups, even more, but not sure if they have a perfect honey substitute yet.

    What does jicama taste like?? Is it close to potatoes?

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому +1

      My husband thinks it is; I think it has a texture similar to radish but when you bake them, they get pretty soft and taste sweeter than a potato.

    • @marywhite8517
      @marywhite8517 4 роки тому

      I heard you say you bake them in the video. Would you slice in wedges, round or cubed?

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому +1

      I sliced mine almost like fries but have also made them cubed. I notice I like the thinner sliced ones better because they tend to get crispier. I also always keep checking them as I bake them to make sure I cook them to the right texture without burning. I also love to put a little Cajun seasoning on mine after they are done.😋

      @@SuzAndTheCrew thanks, I may try some. My husband may start a lowcarb lifestyle. But he has problems with doing without carbs. So I'm trying some things that might help him stay with eating lowcarb.

    Hello great video. I'm interested in the keto diet. How do you freeze the meals for the week? Looking forward to trying ur meal. I'm a newbie lol

    • @SuzAndTheCrew
      @SuzAndTheCrew  4 роки тому +1

      So glad to have you here! 💜 There are so many foods that you can just prepare ahead of time and stick in freezer bags. For these meals, I wouldn’t recommend freezing and reheating the baked eggs as I don’t think they’d turn out well but we did store them in the fridge and reheat them in the microwave (they were still good but just super well done at that point 😂).

    I don’t like cooking with jicama. Maybe if you boiled the jicama beforehand.

      I don’t blame you; it was such a huge pain in the butt! 😂 Yeah, I agree, pre-boiling is probably the way to go!
