- In this video I show you how to fix a bicycle tire bead when not seating properly. After applying the soap around the bead of the tire, take your time when inflating the tire to make sure the bead is seating properly into the clincher part of the rim. #bicycletire #bicycle #roadbike

Legend, I was about to throw my wheels out the window earlier as both my tyres were get stuck and not engaging equally. A small bit of soap and problem solve.. thank you.
Excellent, glad it help

Many thanks to you JJHJ . I spent more than an hour trying to seat the bead by the valve stem . I applied dish soap to the area and it was done within 5 minutes . 👍

AHH DUDE THANK YOU! I watch a ton of videos with a solution to seat the bead and none worked! I was debating putting oil/grease and do the same thing but dish soap is a perfect less messy solution!! Worked amazing for me!
Great! Glad it worked for you. Yes, and the oil/grease would ruin the tire.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this tip with others... 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the comment! 👍👊
From 🇸🇪
Thank you. Im gonna try it on my bike. Had the same problem several times until I gave up never riding my bike again. That detail makes a difference.
Good luck! Let me know if it works. 👍👊
@@BicycleRestorationMan Yes it worked. Thank you again.
@@FZ-yz2ingreat! 👍👊
Thank you!!! This trick worked well, I used plain liquid dish soap!!! My bead was not elevating to the rim hook, so I put a drop of dish soap on my finger and smeared on the bead head and rim
Great, glad it worked. Thanks for the comment! 👍👊
Wow, I was going to buy a new tyre and you just saved me a lot of money and time!
Glad I could help! Thanks for the comment! 👊👍

hmm, I never thought of lubricating the bead. Good idea!
Yes, slips right in but does not slip out! This is how they install tires on your auto. Thanks for the comment! 👍👊
It worked! Thank you!
That’s great, thanks for the comment!👍👊
I was skeptical while watching... but surprisingly it works 😅
Great, glad it worked for you!
Thanks I'll give it a try.
Just installed a hardshell on a true rim and getting a dip.
Thanks for the comment. Let me know how it works for you.
Gotta thank you for the soap tip! I'm on an ebike emtb big schwalbe big Betty just wouldn't seat after let air out to put sealant in it all pulled to one side of the rim it's took me about 1hr! Then seen this video but had to use abit more soap and watched the tyre slide up into the beadseal what a picture for sore eyes! Thanks again I used fairy liquid all i had but worked
Great! Glad it worked for you! 👍👊
The soap helped, thanks!
Great! Thanks for the comment! 👊👍
Thank youuuu
Thanks for the comment Matt! 👍👊
nice wheels - i have a set of velomax circuits that came with a douglas (easton aluminum ultralite) bike i bought. They are soooo smooth
Yes, still riding on them today as you can see. These Ascent 2's are probably lighter than most of the new wheels today. And yes again, roll smooth and fast.
Thanks , job done 👍
Thanks Richard, Glad it helped
THANK YOU!!!!!
glad it helped and thanks for the comment! 👊👍
Trying to get my Bajaboards wheel set properly it’s just all goofy hopefully this helps
Let me know! 👍👊
Sorted! Thanks
Great! Glad it helped
Must say, thanks for making this video. I tried, seating first side with a tube, but could not get the other side to seat. Tried using a belt around the tire, no success. I did try soapy water , but no success. Wasted a co2 cartridge. Its your method, undiluted (in my case dish washing liquid) that enabled me to get the other side mounted, using a track pump. In the future I will try your method to see if I can get both sides seated in one attempt
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment! 👍👊
Just changed my tyres now. I'm getting this nightmarish wobble too..
Are your tires seated ok?
My new tyre, a continental urban contact 16", has this exact problem. after changing both the tyre and the inner tube (a 16"/18" Schwalbe), I had pumped the pressure to 90 psi without any problems. i took it for a test ride for about 10 minutes before it started raining so i had to stop. after a few days, when i wanted to ride again, i noticed that the wheel was stuck - that's when i noticed the exact same bulge as in this video. after some tests, the bulge always appear at the same location when i go up to around 21 or 22 psi. after trying this soap method, at the first try, the bulge occured again around 22 psi but it was further down the tyre - perhaps where my soaping ended? so i extended the soaping, and in the next try, at around 20+ psi again, the bulge reappeared at the original location. i deflated, reapplied some soap, and inflated incrementally, massaging in between the pressure increments. i was finally able to get the psi up to 30 without a bulge. i decided to take it for a short ride, and it seems ok now. should i leave it at 30 psi for a while before attempting to go up to 90 psi? anything i should do or take note of? this is my first attempt at changing a tyre myself, but i thought i should pick up this skill since i aspire to take my folding bike on longer trips overseas. thanks!
I would keep increasing the psi 10psi's at a time and see how it holds. If it bulges again I would check the rim in that area and see if there are any defects.
What do you do if they have a low point? Soap on the same place?
Yes, same place. 👍👊
What if it's inward? Vice Versa. Do you have video
If it's inward, let the air out and the same process should work.
Same problem with a MTB tire but I used silicone spray ... is that also good?
The silicone spray could be harmful to the rubber 👊👍
@@BicycleRestorationMan Thx, will give Easy Fit a try
Cant believe i was going to glue the tire 😂😂😂
Yikes!! 😆👍👊
Bat basically keeps happening with my Stingray orange county ChopperBicycle With the rear wheel I don't know how to fix it Didn't really help I hope you could make a video on that because I tried searching the web and here there's nowhere I can find it To get it fixed If you could make a video on that be great
If this keeps happening with your stingray, make sure you check the rim carefully. Look for any small dents in the rim. Mark it to see if it’s happening on the same spot. Check that area extra carefully for any flaws or damage.
What's the tool he used in the beggining
Just a basic tire lever, any kind should work. However, I don’t recommend using a metal one. Here’s a link: amzn.to/4cnmOCo
what causes this problem with new tyres?
I don't know if it's just new tires but when they are brand new they are stiffer and not as pliable. This probably causes them to not engage under the hook or clincher part of the rim. Applying the soap makes them more pliable and slippery so they slip or glide under the hook. Just my thoughts. Thanks for the comment! 👊👍
Can we use oil?
I would not recommend oil. They can damage the rubber.
hi, a portion of my tire has sunk inside my rim. It's the opposite situation of yours. I followed your instruction and applied soap and then pumped. It didn't fix my issue. Please help.
Work the tire back and forth with your hands. Use the soap while doing this. Also, check your rim and make sure there no dings. Check under the clincher part of the rim as well.
@@BicycleRestorationMan I have checked the wheel. I have just re-installed the tube too. I soaped the whole tire this time. Rotated the tire randomly before installing the tube. Nothing changed. Is this the fault of the low quality tire or did my rim bent somehow?
It's happening in the similar spot
@@sentient1640 hard to tell without seeing it. You might try a different tire but it sounds more like the rim. Especially if it’s happening in the same area. Sorry not more help. ☹️
How can i send you the photos?@@BicycleRestorationMan
Hey does this work on fat tire bikes
Yes, it should. I haven't used it on fat tires but I don't see why it wouldn't. 👍👊
I put slime in my tube and it messed both my tires where they don't sit.
Why did you put slime in your tubes?
@@BicycleRestorationMan Tire puncture protection.
Ngl today morning after I pumped my cycle tyre it had such a huge bump I was horrified because my mtb tyres literally looked like a ftb tyre.
Did you use this process?
I don’t think it’s working for me. I tried putting soap in the tire but it still doesn’t seem to sit right
Make sure the lip of the clincher part is not bent. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, after you apply the soap push down on the tire over the area of concern as your filling the tire.
Soap still doesn’t get my tire seated correctly
If liquid soap does not work, try bar soap or wax.
110 lbs?????
That’s what I pump my tires to! 👍👊
