Geeze man. All you guys hatin' on Jan for wanting to change up her looks. I agree, her blonde hair is beautiful, but sometimes when your born with something and lived with it for years, you feel blended out, looked over and wanna change just for change. Everybody does it! Our modern society looks down on blonds, largely because it represents purity among white people. I'm a guy and growing up a lot of people disliked me because of my blond hair.
Very few white people are actually blonde. The dark hair and fair skin is very common in most of Germany and Central Europe. Dark hair is not less "white". Blonde is more attractive in women, though. The actress playing Lucy Winter is Pamelyn Ferdin. She was a very active child actor at the time, but is best known for portraying Felix's daughter in the "Odd Couple". Fun trivia fact: Ms. Ferdin was one of the girls set to play the role of Regan MacNeil in the film version of "The Exorcist". That infamous role of course eventually went to Linda Blair.

Finally, Pamelyn has unfortunately hit upon hard legal and psychological times.
