He was really nice and when he came in the second time he autographed his book and a picture for me. He didn’t charge me. I always thought that Jan was way prettier than Marcia. For all the crap that’s written about Robert Reed he actually was very kind and generous to the kids. Yeah he was a pain on the set but I think he was a kind man dealing with his own demons.

I noticed something through the years watching this show, that it seems the producers wanted to keep these kids as juvenile as possible. I mean the two youngest kids were in early adolescence and they still had young child toys scattered around the backyard, like wagons and swingsets.
Not unusual for sitcoms. Cute little kids are more appealing than older kids. The "cute little kid" was what Cousin Oliver was meant to be, in order to pull in more viewers to pull up ratings. Sometimes it's taken a bit far; let kids be their age!!
I liked the pop-up video on this. I liked it best when they did "Goodtime Music". Their outfits were really nice. TY for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
Anyone notice at around 20:57 or 20:58 that Peter messes up on the dance. I have always noticed this. So funny how pop up says they rehearsed a week on this and he messes up there.
Although if you think about it, it could be that they rehearsed having Peter mess it up slightly. After all, these aren't supposed to be professional singers and dancers within the context of the Bradys.
I watched the choreography. In that exact moment, Greg and Marcia face each other. Bobby and Cindy face each other. It would stand to reason that Peter should have faced Jan, but didn't. LOL. I'm thinking it would take too long to start the song over again to get a good take, so they just let it go. Nice catch, though.
Kudos to Robert Reed for actually caring about the children as people. He also took them to Europe one time during the hiatus period. As for Florence, kind of sad that she would be jealous of the child actors because they got to sing. Kind of petty, imo.
He did have a good voice. Imo, he needed to work on his style and presentation. It was like he was trying too hard. Should've just relaxed and been more natural. I actually liked Maureen more as a singer. Kind of a soft voice, but she sounded good.

Eve is acting like a diva. Florence was frustrated with her character. Robert Reed, of course, refused to work on the hair tonic episode, and got himself fired. What a mess. Sherwood Schwartz lost control of the show.
Most tee-vee shows, even if they are of high quality, have a lifespan of about five seasons, give or take one. After that, the writers/producers/actors have run out of anything original to do and say. Stories get repetitive, people get bored, and writers will often rely on introducing musical numbers by the cast as a substitute for actual plots.
Well, this is interesting. Between 2:55 and 3:01 They're referring to "Molly Ann Leiken" My Songwriting Instructor from 2000 -2003. I mention her in the "About" section on my YT Channel. I also still have the "Book" or one of them that Molly Authored, "How To Make A Good Song A Hit Song" The Lady knows her stuff about Song Writing, Cool beans, man !

My brother had a chance to join a Montreal group back in the early 70’s, but my parents made him stay in school. Months later, they hit the airwaves with Could Have Been A Lady, and became famous in Canada and beyond. My brother said that it was the biggest disappointment in his life.
In those days a family could afford to live comfortably on one income. And Mike, being an architect on the show, could make for a pretty comfortable home.
Interesting that he dropped out of Pepperdine to do musical theater... I would have thought Pepperdine would be a good place to go if that's what you wanted to do. ETA: with all respect in the world to SAHM, you gotta love that Carol is talking about how college will last you a lifetime when she's got nothing to do with her days but plant marigolds, arrange flowers, and drink coffee.
Carol probably went to college in the early or mid 50s, when the "M.R.S. degree" was popularized. We don't know where Mr. Martin (Carol's first husband and the girls' biological father) went to college, nor what happened to him, nor how Carol & Mike met. Very few backstories to this show.
The caption about music critics at 2:06 was dumb. As if music critics gave any attention to the music of the Brady Kids. That would be like an art critic evaluating a child's crayon drawing.
At least the Bradys never broke out into a spontaneous choreographed song and dance in the middle of an episode.

This was a situational comedy. Jan wanted more serious plot lines. Not happening girl. Cindy wanted a horse. Not happening. Bobby wants a gf, that was doable. Greg wanted to get into a fist fight that could have worked. Having final say in the scripts was a little much, especially coming from the children. I hope they were grateful for the work they did. They beat out 1,000s of other children.
The show had run it's course and became outdated even for it's time. The episodes are still too clean cut, cookie cutter, type episodes. Everything tied up in a neat bow, compared to other tv sitcoms at the time like All In The Family, The Lucy Show, Good Times, One Day At a Time. Sherwood Swartz wanted the Brady Bunch to stay it's goody too shoes format because that's how he felt the show should be.
I get a kick out of the little witch on a broom when it mentions Florence Henderson not going to more than one rehearsal for the kids! Haha! Maureen McCormick's hair was very noticeably bleached for the final season and already had dark roots! Her natural color was nicer. Then around the time after the variety show she got a similar bowl cut as Florence! Yikes!
