    Some people might think theres no difference between a pullup with your bodyweight or a pulldown using the same weight of your bodyweight. Jay is absolutely correct. Pullups for some reason hit the back better than pulldowns. Nothing like pulling your body up against the force of gravity. Wish i would have been doing them years ago.

    I have to stick to negatives with my feet on the ground, and eventually, foot assisted pulls, but that's the road to rehabbing my current injury for now.
    It's one of the ultimate exercises just like the push up. I can do the pull up that way, but I can't use a cable with just 10lbs on it without ending up in agony 15 to 20 minutes later.
    Builders need to never exclude the fundamentals of strength let alone forget them.

    • @JonDeth
      @JonDeth Рік тому +1

      @@jose5675 just stick with it because the follow up to my post is after eating excessively for 3 days, my body burned it all right off. *I did a lot of heavy, extreme distance and hills farmer's carries recently, and it was enough to switch my metabolism on.*
      Once you reach a point where you can hit total body and burn yourself out doing it everyday not 2-3x a week, your metabolism will make a drastic change. *I am on the bright side of skinny fat now.* I might now reach a flat stomach and 6 pack abs, but everything feels better, I look much better *and I can finally get rid of my worst and nearly only area, my stomach.*
      Calisthenics or things like the farmer's carry daily to extremes have always done the absolute most for getting my body to respond to virtually any other training concept I have tried.
      I can soon return to 3x a week without struggling to get visible results but better yet when I do, I don't have to worry about calories very much.

    You gotta do them properly though. I say this because a lot of beginners don't myself included. You have to practice the retractation of your scapula to really give the lats an optimal position to do most of the work. Easier said then done but well worth the effort. That's why a lot of people feel they're arms and shoulders failing before their back.

      Do lat pull downs chest up wide grip it's literally reverse pull up or even better try assisted pull up machine that off sets your weight, You can also use a rubber band on pull ups. Rows do recruit ur lats but it's more for a thicker back rather than wide. Your muscles are also stronger when you go down in the pull up movement so you can also train by starting at the top and only going down slowly then stepping on a box or something nd just do that repeat
