Great tutorial! However there are some changes in maya 2018 that might be worth mentioning for everyone to follow along! The Mash "mute" node at 5:03 is now the "strengh" node in maya 2018 and the "input mesh" atribute at 6:24 is no longer displayable by default in the Mash distribute node until you select the distribution type to mesh. The rest follows the same! Great tutorial again and thank you very much for sharing!
You all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
@Jaxton Abraham I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi, Ian. Great Tutorial. I can't finish, because when finalizing a part of creating a grid and using an intent to create a new Mash Network, nothing appears, even clicking on the cube to make the grid fit in the cube. Please help me.
Hi Ian, Thanks for the tutorial. MASH in maya is great. I was thinking of offsetting the animation based on the faces in the second MASH network so that the cube completes a bit later instead of all the faces at the same time. But adding time or delay didn't really change anything. DId I miss some point? Please suggest what can be done. Thank you.
The scene file is same as this tutorial. I was just trying to complete the transition one face at a time. So, since nested Mash wasn't working. I baked out an alembic for the first MASH network, then use that for second MASh on a cube and time function worked then. Thank you.
This is rly cool effect, but its quite useless when its only for a cube. Is it possible to do same effect e.g. on 3d letter "Q" or some sort of complex Logo using same tools? I suppose that might work with disintegrated polygons of some 3D model, but i bet the falloff effector would just mess things up.
Hello Ian Waters, i am new subscriber to your youtube channel and also newbie in maya. i wish to learn or to make the audio nodes using mash, no idea how to do it, so can you teach on how to play with audio nodes and other things please. thank you
Hello sir, I did the same exact things, but when you created a second mesh and changed the distribution method to face center and I did the same thing, but the ripple effects meshes are scattered here and there and they are not stick to the face of the cube like it should be. I am doing this in maya 2020. The time is 6:23 of the video.
When I put the cube into MASH, I end up with an instancer not a ReproMesh, so when I go to Grab the instancer like you do with the Repromesh I can't Make another Mash setup from that, it just disappears? Which means I can't add the distribution node to it and therefore can't add it to the cube? can you help?
Is anyone having any issues with this on Maya 2019? I have followed every step including switching the distribution type to 'Mesh' but on playback, nothing happens
I had this same issue and I was able to solve it. It seems that in Maya 2019 you must add a time node to the second Mash network - then make sure to change the Animation End input to at least 70. Hope this helps.
When u select Offset node...u get...add to rotate ..scale bla bla....But im not getting these options....i m only getting Add offset Node....I m using Maya 2017...can u help me??
Yes. I'm doing it in Maya 2019. Just match the icons in your Mash menu to follow along.. (sometimes you have to ignore the name of the node because the name has changed.)
ive got a student version of maya 2016 is it possible for me to get mash? if so could someone please tell me where i could download it, i cant seem to be able to find the plug in anywhere
Hell, thanks for the video, i dont know why but in the min 7:30 when i create a controller null its transform all the sides when i use rotate or move. Sorry i found the solution :P. thanks!
I think this is the greatest tutorial on UA-cam I have ever seen 9 min straight to the point. Subscribed !!!!

Amazing technique! It appears to be simple (simpler) when you break it down and actually know how to do it. great tutorial as always!

Yes the Time node is what you want here. Have you got a scene you can send and I'll let you know what's up?
The scene file is same as this tutorial. I was just trying to complete the transition one face at a time.

wow it amazing

facing a problem while creating the second Mash network after creating second network with repromesh the animation is no more there?
Hi, great tutorial Thank you! is that possible to make more complex effects? where i can buy a tutorial that cover the effects?
Ah! You'r the best!
Soo fricking cooool!

Hello, Ian.
Great tut, but I have an issue:

how to make the cube proxy not just a normal polygon?
Hi, is anyone having issue saving the file once done? Im using maya 2020 and it hangs/crashes whenever i use 2 or more mash networks
can this be applied to text easily or do the faces need to be uniform in size?
how do I do it to instead of a cube to an 3d object with text and logo?
asome
nice show
thank you!! ^Q^

Thanks so much for the help!
why didn't you animate the cube to which the first mash geometry was set to display on its face centers? why did you create the locator
You could do it that way too :)
Ian Waters ah I see hey thanks a lot!
great but the rest ?
How do you render the animation?
Is anyone having any issues with this on Maya 2019? I have followed every step including switching the distribution type to 'Mesh' but on playback, nothing happens

No need to select one of the options any more, just add the Offset, the options are now on that node.
Ian Waters Okk thnkuu😊😊
Cool, I'm going to try this, will it work in Maya 2019?
Have you tried this yet?
Yes. I'm doing it in Maya 2019. Just match the icons in your Mash menu to follow along.. (sometimes you have to ignore the name of the node because the name has changed.)

MASH MIND MELD 🙏🏿🍇🍎🍒🌽🍓⚡️🙏
can i do the same in 2013 maya??
MASH was introduced in Maya 2016R2 so you'll need that version or newer.
where is mash in maya 2016
It was introduced in Maya 2016 Extension 2, make sure you're at least on that version.
you speak and explain too fast please explain slower so we can learn much better
