One thing i couldn't understand or " analyze " which is.. why doesn't the "explode" work by itself? why do you have to create boxes all over the faces and then offset them to control the behavior of "explode".. why can't we just jump into "explode" instantly and have the same result?? technically i didn't understand the connection.. i hope you understand what i mean
BogusIndustries me too, the way the explode node works is cumbersome at least. One would suppose to just explode the object and that's all..., but not.
But what direction should the points explode in? Should the faces scale? How should they scale? With noise? In order? With a falloff? Should they rotate? Should they go up? There are thousands of possibilities, how would you do all of these things without plugging it into MASH? With an expression? Linking it to MASH is the only way that makes sense to me, but if you have a good idea, I'll be all over it! :)
I was confusing too. But i understand that is may be this name that confuse. Explode is a utility that apply the mash’s nodes to the faces of a mesh. May be the right name is « to the faces «

Whenever I use the explode node, all the faces of my object actually explode. They don't behave as they should. They ignore the animation the ReproMesh already has and sort of scale from the centre outwards. I don't modify anything but the scale and then freeze transform. - create polygon cube. Scale it down - Create MASH network from cube. - Distribute Mesh to sphere, Face Centre, Flood Mesh - Add offset node. Animate strenght map from black to white with 2 keyframes. - Add explode node. Use sphere as exploding Mesh. That's it. My ReproMesh behaves the way I want to, but the sphere doesn't. Even if the explode node is the only node in the MASH network, it goes crazy. Is there a maxim amount of faces my polygon can have? I am doing more tests to see what the problem is, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. But also, In some of my tests I am seeing overlapping faces after adding the explode node. I figured it out. You can't adjust the scale of the original sphere at all, even with a freeze transforms. I scaled mine to 10 and the faces exploded out 10x from where they should be. I ended up having to export as a .obj and re-import to get the mesh the right size with no transforms.

hey I'm having difficulties, when I add the explode node the faces explode way out further than the square guide. Any idea where I'm going wrong?

why on my MASH1_Distribute there doesn't have Mesh tab in 2020 version so there is no input mesh...?
In distribution type tab select mesh. :)
