i have an MG30gfx amp that i dialled a slash tone into ,on the OD2 channel, then popped it through a TS808 tube screamer then into slash duncans in an epi lp custom. Gets a surprisingly good slash sound at a low price point.

Pretty amazing and old news, but this really highlights that without the EQ the riffs sound a bit like Izzy/Gilby/Fortus and then with the EQ you jump to the front of the mix a la Slash.
It's been 4 years. I have already seen this video before, and I came back to watch it again. If someone were to ask Dagan what his favourite UA-cam video was to make, I feel like he would say it was this one. I'm having as much fun watching it as he is making it! :)
That is a serious 1K boost on the MXR 10 band, I only boost it like 3db and it's very noticeable. The Alexander Jubilee is a nice pedal for getting the Slash tone, has a nice mid range.
Amp is correct. The delay pedal is what he uses now, but for the original welcome to the jungle effect a roland srv 2000 was used. For whatever reason that rack unit is the only one that gets the timing identical to the actual recording.

Slash's first signature amp came from most of his original Jubilees being ripped to shreds at the infamous St. Louis riot back in 91. Slash went to Jim Marshall about having some more Jubilees made because he said if anything happened to the amps he had left, he would be "totally screwed." Jim told him that they could, but it would (apparently) be more cost effective to release the amp as a signature model instead. Also Slash didn't get his Derrig LP in the mid 90s, it was in 1986 just before the recording of Appetite as his guitars he had at the time "sounded like shit" in the studio. Alan Niven (GN'R's manager at the time) got it from a guy called Jim Foote who worked at Music Works in Redondo Beach (he's still there by the way). Yes I know I need to get out more! 🤣

I used a silver jubilee mini combo (2525c) and can get very close. I had to change the speaker to a V30 though. For some reason they come stock with a greenback speaker. So in short - if you get a mini Jube for the slash sound, change out that speaker.

I have a mini jubilee for some time now and I was playing with some "official" slash settings for the amp (presence 8, bass 7, middle 7, treble 4 1/2, output master 6, lead master 10, input gain 6 1/2), then I came here and saw he's using different settings... ok, let's try that way, and wow! hell yeahhhhh!! now I am completely in the AFD ballpark, perfect tone even in 5w mode (both output and lead master controls to 6 at least). Thank you very much man!! Now the MXR 10 band eq is coming...

I checked out the MXR 10 bands eq, but ended getting better results with a Friedman buxom in front of the amp, amazing pedal!!! By the way, watch the presence control, this amp has plenty of it from the beginning. I find it sounds more pleasant to my ears with the control around 2-3. As everybody says the eq section is very sensitive, just a increase/decrease of one point makes the difference.
Quick update after a year. The buxom was good, then I tried the golden pearl and it was even better, but too much high mids and trebles. Finally I got a MXR Timmy, and the amp sounds terrific!! for the first time I have the impression it sounds just right!! I can understand the hype about this pedal for pushing Marshall amps.
I think it'd be cool if he used the AFD 100 more on the GNR tours. There's a live show on UA-cam with Miles Kennedy from like 2012 where he uses it and it sounds amazing.
yeah especially on anastasia live in sydney, the pedal notes ( i think thats what theyre called ) on the electric intro is the tone i dream of , but i think i got fairly close using amplitube
@@PMTVUK i know randy was most closely associated with a Black v with polkadots but he also used a Gibson Les Paul Custom and had a Jackson V with and without a whammy bar, he used marshall super lead plexis often which where white ones which contrast with the les paul and Rhoads V, and for pedals it was an MXR Distortion +, MXR Flanger on the chorus riff of Flying High Again, MXR Stereo Chorus to replicate his double tracking he did in recordings, MXR 10 Band EQ and apparantly he used wah in live gigs but i've never heard him use it also he had some sort of octave on the recording of the over the mountain solo
I found a video somewhere and the guy in the video sed Slash turns his volume down to 7 if you use his settings and prevents it from being too harsh but that might have been for his plexi signature amp.
the guild double neck was used on Anastasia by Myles Kennedy and the Conspiritors from time to time the EDS-1275 was for Knocking on Heaven's Door, hope this clears it up for ya!
The Guild Crossroads is used live not on Knockin... (he uses the EDS-1275 for that), but on Civil War, and was used for Anastasia for a while (during '14-'15 tour I believe). He used it on Patience as well during the Velvet revolver tour in '07-'08 (final VR tour ever).
Slash guitar parts on appetite for destruction are all my favorite songs by Slash some songs off use your illusions albums and one song on spaghetti incident a couple of songs from velvet revolver...

Oh man, that EQ mid hump and high roll off is such a sweet touch. It gives the guitar more bite with less piercing high end.

The Guild Crossroads is used live not on Knockin... (he uses the EDS-1275 for that), but on Civil War, and was used for Anastasia for a while (during '14-'15 tour I believe). He used it on Patience as well during the Velvet revolver tour in '07-'08 (final VR tour ever).
