@@ObscuredByCloud that's because between GNR and Conspirators Slash has been constantly on tour for the better part of the last 5/6 years, so he alternates this guy on his solo tours with Adam, the guy that was on the premier guitar rundown, who's been with him since the 80's. They're both Slash's techs, they both know what's going on, and they just split jobs because the bad mofo can't ever stop playing music.
Because the band was about to take stage. #1 there wasn't time to show off all of the guitars that everyone already knows Slash plays. #2 The guitars are all stage ready (aka they are set up, tuned, polished, etc) and the tech didn't want to risk ruining that by pulling them out.
Over here we have the Slash amp, Slash guitar, Slash picks and Slash pedals. Onstage he wear a Slash Tophat and Slash underwear. Guy give Kiss a run for their money
The ironic thing is: Slash`s original "AfD" L/P is not a real Gibson but a replica of a 59 with Seymour Duncan pickups. @@MaddoxMelton he never really was lol he had most of this shit from day 1!. It is true that the rig is simple, but he's always used a compressor and he's always used wireless, the hum Eliminator, and some sort of pedal be it an EQ or chorus ect...
First rule: get out of the way when you do an interview especially when the focus is supposed to be the gear. The tech is stretching looking around at the guitars. Second Rule: when doing a gear rundown, show mostly the gear and less two dudes talking. Thanks for putting this out though!
Yeah a few minutes before showtime. Never ever touch a guitar just before the show. You drop one and now you have to tune up a new rig and wireless channels and all. It’s a bitch and would delay the show for 30+ minutes if you run into complications.
This whole tone is in the fingers argument is interesting. As a drummer, I knew early on that every drummer when hitting a cymbal would have different transients from the attack of the drumstick as well as teasing out different overtones based on how and where they struck the cymbal. But with guitar, you have to hit the fundamental tone when you fret the string, too loose and too tight and you’re out of tune. So it seems like the only place you can tease out different harmonics is at the picking end - what picks you use, how hard or delicate you strike the string to generate transients and where along the string you pick to tease out the different harmonics - or should I say the different timber of harmonics. As harmonics don’t change just the relative levels between them, ie timber. So when they say tone is in the fingers- I think it’s just the picking hand that makes you sound different
You can play to tight with your left hand, still be in tune, and choke the note a little bit. And here are tons of other things going on with the left hand (Like vibrato, the positioning of the fingers relative to the fretboard) that make a big difference. It's really in both hands, not just the picking hand.
This one could be a lot better, but I guess time was a constraint? That being said, it´s not really that complicated. His sound is basically just a Les Paul through a Marshall Jubilee with a boost in front of it for solos (although he used Boss Ge-7 Graphic EQ´s in the Effects Loop during the GNR days for solos) and a wah. That´s the basic sound. I guess there´s a little bit of delay for leads (The DD500s) , the octave/fuzz pedal is just for specific parts and the DD-3 is used for slither (intro and in the quiet part just before the solo) and that´s pretty much it. It can be replicated "fairly" cheaply .
@@theoriginalheartstrummer True that. A brand new LP Standard cost as much for us today as a Standard in 1959 would have done to an adult back then. So it´s definitely a serious investment, that´s for sure.
