Been loving the addition of Dave to the channel! I'll admit, in the first video he was a bit stiff and seemed quite nervous and wasn't playing like he does when he's alone at home - but who can blame him! Having studio lights and cameras pointed at you is stressful! With time I believe he'll loosen up and really let loose on the Anderton's channel. Welcome, Dave!
@@Walliebal you should have watched dave playing when he is in his mood, he is like possed by guitar's spirit. he is an introvert so taking his time to adjust in front camera in other's place
Slash used lots of gain but it’s so smooth it sounds like less. A bit like Brian May. He also uses an EQ pedal to push the mids and upper mids. An MXR 10 band I think. EQ pedals are one of the most powerful pedals and so often forgotten about. Especially important if you’re relying on the amp for most of the tone like Slash does.
I think your comentarios it s the anly one about Slash tone and not about Dave Simpson. Nothi g against him, I love his channel but this is for Slash tone ... and nobody says nothing.
You asked for us to comment which artists we would like Dave to try and emulate with an amp dialed to have the treble off and the bass off? Hmm, that does take some skill. Basically dialing in an amp to have the "Money for Nothing" tone without the need for a wah pedal? Maybe see if he can turn the treble and bass off on a fender and still sound like McCready? Idk.
Now this channels worth watching. Every so often ? Sign him up. Dave is so enjoyable to listen to and watch. Just shows you can be a character without being a tit. RC.
This is the best team up we could have, love seeing Dave in HD and edited professionally with access to all this gear. And you got chemistry! Great videos, Well done Andertons
@@stanknugget Yes, I'm no longer going to perform live, so I upgraded my multi-track recording setup, bought another keyboard synth, upgraded my electronic drum kit, and cymbals on my acoustic kit, and replaced the tube amps with a Boss Katana and a Peavey Bandit, both of which work much better with my pedal board than tube amps did.
@@bmark7951 My pedalboard sounds best through my solid state amps (Boss Katana, Peavey Bandit-two of Dave's favorites). It's not stupid when you are finally getting the sound you want.
My new favorite series. Well done gentlemen. This is what I come to the tube for. Reasonably priced equipment recommended by players we trust and look to for guitar advice. Awesome.
Dave is back! Thanks Lee, for getting him onboard. Enjoy you both, and then together is awesome . And great idea to deal with the pedal video stuff. I know you needed outlet for those. Got the right dude for that. Congrats! DAVE! happy for you.
The miked up sound did not appeal to me at all, very thin and small sounding to my ears. Don't think this was due to the pedals. Would also like to see Dave play some more pricey gear, although he is known to make budget gear sound great. A larger cab would be a good start. Dave rules and you have a massive show !!!!!
I can't believe nobody else seems to hear it!! I mean, he turns every amp's EQ knobs all to zero; what else would it sound like? Chris Buck and Dave Simpson: UA-cam's "no treble" club.
Dave is awesome but sorry Marshall mg series is probably the worst solid state amp to use. They sound nothing like a Marshall. I think you could choose a better amp to start with. A peavey bandit or Roland Blues cube
I’m so glad you guys decided to collaborate! Dave is an incredible guitarist and tone nerd! It’s amazing the tones he gets without going tube/valve. ❤️🤘
Yes! He nailed it. I've never heard Dave do much Knopfler, even though I've been through pretty much his entire back catalogue . Knopfler is really hard to do well, but if anyone could do it ...
Dave is a legend and I agree, he makes it REAL to play as a pro on a budget or with used amps and guitars which we know is do-able but largely gets lost in the marketing of big brand new gear. This is bold of Andertons although spot on for the majority of viewers which should give the store more credibility as an honest reviewer. And nothing wrong with a little Bluesbreaker Clapton in the middle.
I feel like there are moments where Dave and Lee feel comfortable and completely themselves and then there's a lot where they are maybe stuck on the idea of do I belong here (Dave), is this going to work out/does it feel forced (Lee). Will the aduience enjoy this? (Both). I feel like this is an awesome idea for a segment and I'm glad your both giving it a shot. The comfort will come in time. Keep doing what you do! (This is just how it seemed to me, it's only one opinion).
Watch the early video's of Lee and chappers same awkwardness at times. I think having Dave on the channel is fantastic. I think they will find their comfort zone in time
That's my experience with watching this series as well. Your observation is in line with the hierarchy of the Andertons company. All I can say, is well said. And the series is awesome, it's a sound like but with more finesse, care and humbleness. Have a great festive holiday everyone 👌🏼
I was just thinking the same and really hoping dave can loosen up and be himself more over time because he’s a great guitarist that also knows his tone. ❤️🤘
Loved the Money for Nothing. I love messing around with a tone or effect and suddenly realizing "I know that, that's from this other song". Then you go down the rabbit hole and learn a new song you weren't planning on.
Great addition to the Andertons channel, a fiendish manoeuvre in having Mr Simpson playing, is there nothing this fella can't play.... Captain Sensibles guitar tone on a cheap budget would be interesting?
Something is not right with that guitar recording - sounds almost like the phase of the mics is shifted, or it's just the sound of the 57 and no 121. Maybe it's just me...
I love this series!! I love how you can find a solid pedal that works for someone's artist of choice, and they can just go out and order one if they're on a budget! Some recommendations for guitarists I have are: Jimi Hendrix Mike Einziger Kurt Cobain
Doesn’t sound like the Amp is mic’d up very well or something. Or maybe it’s something else but seems really quiet and kinda far away. But hey that happens sometimes, maybe the mic just got bumped or something.
Great addition having Dave on the channel to demo more affordable gear. Makes a great companion to Pete for the dearer pedals. Also loving the idea of the series going for specific players tones. A suggestion for a future episode: trying to replicate Eric Johnson would be awesome.
I really like this format of "how to sound like .... using inexpensive pedals" smart way of showcasing a lot of pedals at a time. Also Dave, as well as being a great guitarist, is very good and zeroing in on a particular sound. Oddly though I was most imporessed by the amp as I've been looking to get a Marshall for some time and I think it will be this one
Rhis was so great to watch. Dave is such an expressive player and I love the idea of achieving great tones on a budget (as many of us are) I would absolutely Love to see you guys tryand achive a decent Mick Ronson sound on a budget :)
the Marshall MG100HDFX was my first gigging amp in my teen years. people rag on the MG series but i seriously recommend them to younger guitarists just starting out. they may not be the best tone ever but theyre not really the worst either, and theyre easy on the wallet while giving you drummer level volume.
So....is it just me....but does anyone else think the format for these vids should be dave presenting solo, explaining what pedals he is using and demoing the tones, all slickly recorded and edited? Similar to what dave does on his own channel but with a higher production value and all the waffle cut out.
Slash playing Godfather Theme on Use your illusion tour was EPIC!!! And they played Wild Horses for Gilbey Clarke's solo. Slash played double neck SG. Great stuff. Dave Simpson is the coolest. He deserves to be wealthy.
The Captain and the Dave!! Love u guys... almost as much as Slash... 😂...no really.. happy holidays and best of everything to you and your families...💝🤘😜🎸🦌🎶
This concept is so great, and i love that Dave is involved. I have a friend who's saving up for her first guitar and she's very much the "Skip the fundamentals, how do i play this song" type and part of that is nailing the tone. Any chance we'll get a Clapton or Aerosmith episode?

I guess he was intimidated by the presense of Danish Pete ;-)

Fantastic! Loving this collabaration between you guys, great video. Well done Dave & Andertons.
Great idea, great challenge and of course great Dave, awesome
Incredibly happy to see a behringer pedal in here!
Slash used the MXR ocatvefuzz during the Velvet Revolver era. Big fun boy here, trust me:)
Gotta love Dave!
the thing with slash someone steps on the pedals for him except the wah but this video is so cool
Awesome! Love you guys, thanks for this and Merry Christmas!
I modified a electro harmonix LPB-1 Nano to give me the Slash sound. Using the amps distortion too. But i already have Slash Pickups too.
Loving Dave on the channel!
Honestly I would have just used a boss Katana again, would have gotten closer or perhaps the use of a tube screamer

I would spend the money and get one of the Marshall DSL amps instead.
Gotta love immense Dave.
He's immense, his playing is immense, his sound is sense.
Also his hair!
IMMENSE
wicked. Dave needs to take over "sound like" series because he'd nail the challenges in the sub $500 like us real musicians can afford lol
Andertons really nailed it when they added Dave to their channel, I wonder if we'll see Pete and Dave collaborations in the future
I hardley can see Dave playing in Helene Fisher Band.

Give Dave the Hat - sounding good!

Awesome series so far. Maybe Peter Green or Rory Gallagher next?
Yes!
Absolutely.
Yes!. Peter Green on a Budget : Dave could do it easily on a CV Squier Strat (black) and an Orange Crush 35RT. The whole setup would be under a grand.
Tom Morello on a budget could be interesting.
Yes! Rory Gallagher would be awesome.
Im not trying to be rude, but am I the only one hearing that this is a bad tone generally? Is it because of the Epiphone?
Great video guys! I think the guitar could've been a tad bit louder relative to the voice mics tho, I had to adjust back and forth a lot
Kudos to the editors for displaying the pedals on screen. Thanks Dave and Lee! Great series
Thank you so much for recognising this... so much render time when dealing with this many 4k layers haha! Cheers for the kudos!🤙

If anyone can, Dave is your man.

I thought Hendrix used a 9 string ukulele in drop Q anyway

Is something wrong with my speakers/headphones, or this amp really sounds like shit?
It’s the speaker it has an unpleasant high-mid honk :S
