100%, you should check out Lost Forever // Lost Together by Architects. Some people will say this is peak architects, and above all our gods have abandoned us 😊

I’ll get around to requesting that one eventually, been showing him all kinds of different metal projects. Hop on his twitch for La Dispute tomorrow and Tallah on Monday 🤙🏼

Huge replay value on this album. You haven’t heard greatness until you’ve listened to the Live at Abbey Road version (with a motherfucking orchestra 🤯).
Definitely do Lost Forever as well though 🤘

Personally I love this album. I completely understand why fans of All Our Gods and albums prior would be disappointed with the shift in sound but I honestly think a majority of their complaints stem from a closed minded preference of genres they find enjoyable. All in all, it really isn't a bad album or nearly as bad as people make it out to be. It just isn't what long time fans would've expected from them. A lot of people have said they thought the band wasted Josh's (guitarist that took Tom's role) potential with the them, saying they limited him in terms of what he was able to write, but if he was truly unhappy with the music they were producing, he wouldn't have stayed with them for the 7 years that he did. Also, there's been heavy criticism regarding a decline in the quality of their lyrics from previous albums, but it feels like it would've been an inevitability? Other than some of their recent songs being less politically motivated, All Our Gods was written form the perspective of a man diagnosed with a terminal illness and him coming to terms with death, followed by an album written having to cope with the death of their bandmate, best friend, and brother? Shifting away from such emotional and powerful topics, obviously there'd be a change in depth and what fans would perceive as quality. Other than a clear stylistic change and incorporation of different genres, I don't see the lyrics differing that much from other bands in the scene. If anything, I find them a lot more introspective than a lot of other bands. Unfortunately, they really just set the bar so high with their mid 2010s albums, it'd be incredibly challenging for them to write something to outdo their work. Maybe I'm just an Architects purist tho, haha.

they don't play gone with the wind live anymore unfortunately has Sam finds it too difficult emotionally to perform it. It sucks because it's such a great song live, hopefully one day he'll heal enough to be able to bring it back to the set list.

Now you know how fans felt about this album. This is so underwhelming after last three albums. The fact that the only song that stuck on repeat for me was the last ballad is saying a lot about metal album.
But to be honest it's hard to imagine them doing something incredible on this album when they set the bar so high already. Plus I'm sure last two albums before that were emotionally draining for them which doesn't help either.

honestly, I get the disappointment, but you're right. The bar had been set so high, paired with the emotional weight of losing a band member, it would be tough to recreate for sure
