So, I feel like you'll get this. It sounds like an architects album in every way that it doesn't. It sounds like the culmination of the five musicians striking out after the loss of Tom, and trying to rebuild. essentially as a new entity.
Yeah I can see that, it has a bit of everything but is still architects at its core throughout
@@Roguenjosh exactly. and that ending...oof. The more I listen to this album, the more it sets in how important it is. Like you said, it's an all-timer. Genuinely seems flawless.
Meteor actually fits in the album. I was surprised.
Meteor is what I call a transition song. If you just listen to that song by itself, it most likely will be a bad experience, but within the whole of an album it just sounds right where it should.
@@apollolinaire2607 maybe is giving blood also a transition track because it's sounds like one xD
absolutely love Sam flexing his vocals on An Ordinary Extinction. that high note is fucking crazy
My favorite track on the album
The drum work on this album steals the show for me. Absolute monster of a drummer.
“Winston, if you can hear me, please make this brutal”
Me: 😏just wait
Oh, he did it!!!
“I’m gonna cry I’m so happy” - agreed bro ‼️
Thanks man, I have to apologise I just subbed to you and changed it from 69 to 70, a sad day haha
This album reminded me they’re British. You don’t hear Sam’s accent much on the other albums but it’s very prominent here
UPDATE: sat through the whole thing. Must have been like the 26th listen of the album for me. It just gets better and better. I totally agree with your closing statement.
Thanks so much, this is by far my favourite thing I have done on this channel
@@Roguenjosh loved the video!
It’s weird that after my first play-through of this album, I liked Dying Is Absolutely safe just fine, I knew it was deep, but it didn’t really hit me like it hit a lot of other people. Then I watched you reacting to it, and idk what did it, but when the quiet part of the closing verse hit, I won’t lie to you, and make believe sincerity, I shed a tear and my whole body was just swarmed with chills. It finally hit me, and it’s such a beautiful fucking closer, mate. I thoroughly believe Tom was the sole inspiration for that last bit for sure.
So good to hear, what an amazing song! Would be interesting to hear them talk about the lyrics on this one
@@Roguenjosh They did a full two part, two hour interview titled "Architects Conversation," and broke down the entire album. Worth every minute, especially to learn that lyrically, it was all Dan's writing. First time watching one of your videos, and it's rad to hear someone else call it a masterpiece.
I can’t be the only one who cried a little on dying is absolutely safe. Beautiful song, phenomenal album.
Great reaction too 🤘 I subscribed right away!
I loved your reaction, and I love how you payed attention to it as a whole, and didn't just get immediately disappointed for their softer side. It's a relatively nice balance. There are articles of their interviews, where they describe exactly what they wanted to do, and they have actually done it.
They’ve made a masterpiece
Discourse is Dead was the first track written. Was done before Holy Hell released.
From a big Biffy fan here, Simon's vocals were amazing, he hasn't done anything that harsh with them for a long time - Only Revolutions is an album full of bangers though, definitely worth checking out!
Great reaction though, such positive energy!
Thanks so much! Good to know about biffy, I’ll try the older stuff!!
@@Roguenjosh check out their fist 3 albums especially if you like a heavier math/prog rock sound
This album is a jewel. Dude, you have to buy a vinyl, all are so beautiful
I've been listening to this album almost non-stop since it came out. There are a few songs that I feel less, but if you listen to it as a whole it does not matter. I just love this album. Interestingly Meteor is one of my top songs from this, but I couldn't tell why.
Yeah I wish I hadn’t heard it first and out of context
The emotion bruh..
I had my worries about this album initially, but I was beyond blown away. This was insanely experimental for them, and I loved every second of it. New architects sound, but still the same architects we all know and love if that makes sense haha my favorite tracks are giving blood, discourse is Dead, an ordinary extinction, dead butterflies, impermanence, and goliath. 10/10 for me! Great reaction Josh!
Thanks so much!
Great reaction man! For sure didn't know what to expect from Architect's for this album but I was blown away. My top tracks would be Giving Blood, Dead Butterflies, Impermanence, Animals, Goliath & Dying Is Absolutely Safe :)
Out of this world album, one for the books!!
It's 8 A.M here, I'm at work and I'm watching your great reaction. I freaking love this album, every single second of it
Thanks so much mate! I love this album and this video is one of my favourite things I’ve done on the channel!
Dying is absolutely safe, makes me shed a tear. Every time I hear it, what an album ❤️🤘🤘
Well actually, Discourse is Dead is the oldest song. Josh and Dan wrote it after finishing Holy Hell, before the release of the album.
Good to know! Probably my favourite off the album
That's why it's the strongest song on the album. Because it's not been ruined by awful vocal effects and mediocre lyrics. I don't agree that it's their best album at all. But each to their own and there are some good songs in there, but others are very weak in my opinion
@@RyeRyeL Yeah yeah, new Architects is shit and all. I saw enough of that, don't bother you.
@@RyeRyeL This is their 9th album. They're broadening their sound, experimenting. Some of it may work, some it won't. You don't make 9 albums without doing that.
If they did, all you'd hear about is how all their albums sound the same - a complaint they got with Holy Hell. About the lyrics, though? You're just flat out wrong on the that. The lyrics are same old Architects.
@@RyeRyeL Strongest song? Goliath would like a word with you lol
Fun fact: Flight without feathers is all basslines, no guitars or drums.
I'm super happy for Architects, they're finally getting the hype and recognition they deserve, especially after they've been through in the past 4 years. They've taken so many risks with this album and it's paid off and I could not be happier.
Anyone who knows about Simon Neil definitely caught them off guard when listened to Goliath. Even i also didn't expected that Simon can scream like that. 🤣🤣
If you like his screaming listen to infinity land and Vertigo of bliss, he does a little bit in those albums
Finally! I've been waiting for ur reaction for this! Amazing!
Thanks Irfan!!!
I love Architects, I love Biffy Clyro, I love Royal Blood. This album is amazing
AMAAAAAAAZING
Videos like this remind me why I got into music reaction videos in the first place. Brilliant video with a touching reaction to the outro, and I know you dropped the Emotion Sickness reference just for me ;)
Well I knew if I said it someone would know what I’m talking about haha, thanks so much!
Such a good album! Love the songs they held back from releasing they are bangers! 🔥 Winston and Simon Neil fit so well man! Plus I got a pre order cool blue vinyl it’s beautiful
Yeah, this was a great release. I didn't love every single track but I respect all the experimentation they're doing. It's clear that they were trying many different approaches to this new style, and it makes me optimistic that they'll find a way to make it their own (as they already have in some tracks).
Dead Butterflies still takes the #1 spot for me though. That one is just so beautiful.
Loved listening to all the songs with you my man!! Awesome reaction man. Loved this album as well.
Actually quite liked the longer format for this one! On first listen I was definitely not as in love as you, but every time I listen I love it more and more- these guys just can't be stopped.
Nice reaction man 👍. I kind of wished I had the will power to hold off on all the singles so I could have listened to the album as a whole for the first time but damn man. Amazing work. The exceeded my expectations. Love this album.
What’s everyone’s fav songs so far? Mine kind of change day by day lol. But as of now my favs are Giving blood, little wonder, libertine, Goliath and Demi god. I feel bad leaving any songs out because they are all great in their own way. Such a good album.
Loved watching your review man! I recently found Architects a few months ago and they have quickly become my favorite metal/hard rock band. Ive been getting into more hard rock/metal lately and these guys are at my top of list.
Thanks for the review Josh!
Thanks for watching!
After listening to the Album about 10 times. It has really grown on me it is one of my favorite Architects records. Favorite song is definitely Discourse is Dead. Reminds me of Holy Hell a lot, even reminds me of AOGHAU and LF//LT. great reaction man
Thanks so much! That’s my favourite as well for sure
I was waiting for at least a few vids on it, wasn't expecting the whole album. 😂
Yeah I went for it!
Been here for the whole time, I was just like you I was worried coming into this album based on meteor. I went to my local record store to buy the indie release color varient and streamed the whole album when I got home. I've listened to this album front to back many times now. This is definitely an amazing album.
I've been waiting for someone to do this! :D
I'm EXCITED!
Thanks legend!!! Always appreciate your comments!!!
@@Roguenjosh you must mistake me for someone... but thank you a lot :D
Always appreciate your videos!
You should listen to Biffy Clyro! Especially the album 'Only Revolutions'. Though don't go expecting anything like the song Simon featured in. They are much more alt/indie rock. Though they do have some heavier and post-hardcore elements from time to time, especially in their older albums.
I think my least fav is Demi God, but I love how DIFFERENT it is. I love bands who aren’t scared to try new things, especially a band like Architects. They could’ve just done another album like Lost forever or All our Gods and it would’ve been safer, but they went for it with this album and I love it. That being said I love all of Architects’ albums they are the kings of breakdowns and riffs IMO
This is a sick ass vid!!! You got my subscription!
Holy Hell was a good album, but i listened to a lot of other opinions of it and people said it sounded like architects, but it didn't. it felt like they were trying to preserve their old sound before Tom passed. i'll always miss their sound with Tom, but this album sounds not like the old Architects, but like they rebuilt entirely and came back and found a sound that fit them perfectly and i fucking love every song off of this album. Sam's vocal performance is beyond outstanding, the sounds they've incorporated into this album, the work the band has put into it and put into projecting themselves is stellar. they absolutely deserved No. 1 and cemented their position as one of my favourite bands of all time, now and forever.
Thanks for your reaction, i love the album so much, you should have heard meteor, because the explotion of begining is perfect for the end of demi god, i think meteor is the rial final of the album, with the culmination of everything, and dying is absolutely... mark MAYBE what's after life, i dont know, i love the album, is perfect
Architects hands down my favorite band now overall this album is amazing!!! Love the change up from Holy Hell, still heavies but these cleans are so good!
Of all the songs the demigod and dying is absolutely safe hit me the hardest in terms of feels both lyrically and musically but overall for me the whole album is amazing. Beautiful but heavy. It has everything and makes it all work perfectly.
Sorry I'm late to the party, just sat through this whole video which was probably my 800th album play through... Literally your reactions were the same as my first listen through... Such an amazing band.. Such an incredible album... Tickets booked to see them in March 👌👌
Hell yes!
seeing them this month and in may!
Great review mate.
Excellent video! If you're thinking about doing this again, might I suggest the upcoming Spiritbox album? They said it'll be out in 2021!
I cant stop listening to this album!! I think it may be my favorite of their whole discography. I'm very much looking forward to experiencing this live with everyone!
Yeah I loved doing this video and think I’ll do more in future!
As a long time fan, who prefers their older work over LFLT, AOGHAU and HH, this album has actually become my favorite. I love the diversity and it's still heavy, unlike what many say. It's just a different way of heavy, I guess. My favorite tracks are: an ordinary extinction, flight without feathers and impermanence
my favs are black lungs, an ordinary extinction and little wonder, the break down on little wonder gives me chills everytime
ayyyy we have the same favorites, op!! flight is so underrated
@@roshanfey definitely underrated and the lyrics are fucking deep. I love it so much
I hope I grow to love it. I love architects and their switch up kinda threw me off but I’ll get there.
This is an album with amazing individual tracks but which really has to be consumed as an entire album for maximum effect. Your review was just the right approach. Check out the great interview in two parts on epitaphs channel
This whole album blew me away when I first heard it. I love how it has such a perfect mix of heavy hitting and ambient, almost ethereal. And I actually loved that it ended on such an emotional note. It's like we fight for understanding and truth and fight against the inevitable and at the end there's almost a sort of resignation or acceptance of it. Anyway I also loved this video and hope you end up doing more entire album reactions even though I'm sure they're a lot more work to film and edit. Gojira' s new album drops next month. Just saying.
Thanks so much for the message! This video was the most enjoyable video I’ve made so far, I’m thinking I might try more full album reactions in future
@@Roguenjosh You're welcome. And I'll be looking forward to that.
Loved the reaction! mental to think it was originally 22 songs...
WHAT
Just finished the full reaction. I cried at the end also bro. This album is something special.
It blows me away!
I wonder if I'm lucky for finding Architects through this album preventing me from having too high of expectations. I've gone back and Holy Hell and All Gods Have Abandoned Us are still the bands holy grail to me but this album gets damn close. The Abbey Lane version makes some songs even better and even made me come around to a song I didn't originally F with. The singles released so far after the album haven't struck that emotional core for me in my opinion it seems like the raw emotion of their other work just isn't there as much in them.
While it doesn't ruin my excitement for the next album it's definitely successfully warned me to not put my expectations in the clouds.
Also can't leave without giving some love.. great video as always man really is special how many life-changing bands I've found through reactors like you.
Dude i came here like "yeah im only gonna check the reaction for Goliath and Simon Neil's screaming during the breakdown" but then caught myself checking the full reaction/review and you almost made me cry too in the end. I hadn't check the lyrics of Dying Is Absolutely Safe yet (im french, i gotta) so i did while watching the reaction and man, that's so deep and powerful. This is my favorite album from them by far, so so great.
Thanks so much Nick! Such an amazing album!
Enjoying the vids dude. New sub 🤠
Thanks heaps man! I’ll be adding full album reactions as like a fortnightly thing, loved making it
@@Roguenjosh Maybe an ERRA or Landmvrks album reaction 😏👀
Dan and Sam have said that the vinyl version of the album was mastered seperately to the digital/CD versions because they wanted it to be a completely different listening experience. Appartently there are links between each song, on each side of the record, which aren't there on any other versions.
Dying is absolutely safe made me cry 🥲
What a beautiful album
16k views and just 800 likes? THIS bro deserve more.
I appreciate you
I think i might have an explanation as to why all the songs start on a static note/ sound. it's not on the streamed versions but on the vinyls and I'd guess the CD too, all the songs are connected and flow into each other. So for example an ordinary extinction is probably a good 20 seconds longer because the intro plays longer and slightly different.
Also on the D side (the second vinyls B side) there's a ridge at the end, so the last half second of dying is absolutely safe repeats unitl YOU get the needle off the disc. If not, it just keeps repeating itself eternally. Don't know if that means anything, I just thought it was super cool that there's more to experience on the actual copies of the record than on the streamed versions.
"Winston, if you can hear me, please make this one brutal.."
Oh....oh lord bless this poor man's soul for he knows not what he's getting into..
great album
YESSSSS 😤🔥
I really love Demi god, is strange at first but you cant forget that beautiful melody
josh, how do you manage to make the copyright not affect the entire video?
This was supposed to be a two part album. With "Do You Dream Of Armageddon?" being the intro to Part 1 and "Flight Without Feathers" being the intro to Part 2, I'm assuming. But I am so glad they decided to just combine the two parts and just give us an hour of music to listen to.
If I remember it right, Do You Dream Of Armageddon? was actually supposed to be the intro to the second part.. not sure though
@@martin.adolfssson It could've been. Not sure.
God, I love this album
Dying is Absolutely Safe ruined me. Just didn’t anticipate an architects album making me openly weep
The breakdown in Impermanence is brutal af
This album is 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
Thanks chicken Joe
💜
🖤
"Little Wonder" reminds me of "Heavy Metal" by Bring Me The Horizon
I've cried too
When I heard acoustic guitars on this album I was like HUH
Would you mind reacting to a Seattle group called What Have May they are very so interesting
Not sure it would actually come to being due to the fact they are independent but they have been together for 10 years
Thanks so much for the request! My request list is longer then I could ever possibly complete, but I have been known to do smaller unsigned bands, it’s nice to not have copyright issues!
If you haven’t heard I let it in by loathe you should do a full album reaction
Also emotion sickness is exactly what I thought when I first heard it
Then you are my kind of people Ryley
I'm going to say that (for me) this is the best album they have done, I listen to it every day and it never gets boring, it just gets better and better.
P.s a bit of sex wee came out at 1:45 on Impermanence
I have never heard the term ‘sex wee’ and it feels like there a few different possibilities thete
@@Roguenjosh sorry. It's a bit of English slang for jizz
ORBIT CULTURE "SAW"
Take notes A Day To Remember; THIS is how you write an extremely diverse record without it sounding like a mass produced vomit for $$$. I'm huge fan of them too and there's like 3 or 4 songs that aren't bad, but it's so uninspired.
This album was incredibly strategic. The whole message is about climate change and what we can do to stop it, and by having cleaner vocals and less harsh guitars they made the album accessible to so much more people to be able to spread the message much more.
u wot m8
I: Daniel Johns, what do you think about this album?
Daniel johns : I love it , I love the creativity.
Did anybody else feel like there were on acid when he played libertine he even said it
🌈
Man to every one who said so much negative shit about this album up til its release. I TOLD YOU SO. it only gets better and better at each listen ❤️ so many bangers and an absolute treat to listen to in one sitting
used to be underwhelmed by it, writing back from the future to say how much i fell in love with so many songs from it
Demi God is so reminiscent of RED ❤️
What's this Monster man?! Oh btw, I also released a review of the album if you wanna give it a listen too: ua-cam.com/video/0vONiB_us80/v-deo.html !
They were smart with how they released the album. They used a new vibe and sound to bring in new listeners, gave teasers to try and keep the old fans, and gave the dedicated fans who just didn’t give a shit some bad ass bangers as a surprise welcome gift in the middle haha.
Mateee, please dont talk this album up like its anything special. 😅. Its sub par at best for a rock band. For architects its sooo bad. Really below par.
You’re stating that as if it’s fact, whereas it’s just your opinion, and one that many people don’t share. The album reached number one for a reason.
Popular =\= good
