I saw Jeff on his first tour of Canada. It was $2.00 on the first night and $5.00 on Friday. The room was packed. Every guitarist in town was front and center watching him rip it up.
Everyone on that stage is a legend. Marcus Miller slappin the bass, Dr. John on keyboards, Omar Hakim on drums and of course the mind blowing Jeff Healey on guitar. This was lightning in a bottle. No auto tune, no pitch shift, just talent. Imagine
"lightning in a bottle" is the perfect description of that performance. Four legends in their own right coming together to create one of the best live performances of my lifetime. If aliens came down from space and wanted to know what is this music thing you earthlings have I would show them this video. 😁
You have to see Jeff and Stevie Ray do "look at little sister". Jeff sets his guitar on fire. Not literally. Stevie is loving it and just smiles. RIP to both!
R.I.P to Jeff Healy...the bassist is Legendary producer/composer Marcus Miller he was the musical director of the show the first season of Night Music..the drummer is Legendary Omar hakim and the Pianist is Legendary Dr. John...R.I.P
I have Jeff Healy albums but I have never seen him play live. I am just speechless, oh my freakin' god, I cannot believe what I just saw.. 'scuse me while I jemmy my jaw off the floor!!! God we lost a master way too soon. RIP Jeff luv ya man!
giggles...I have much doubt you will ever see anyone else ever do that again. Like your reactions as always. Have a fun day. Auf WIedersehen aus WIesbaden :-)
You have to see SRV and Jeff Healey - Look at Little Sister. OMG it is freaking awesome. Also, I think SRV is the one who originally discovered Jeff Healey.
Jeff is an INSPIRATION... pure authentic. The man's never seen someone make the "stank face"... he doesn't know how to imitate anyone else... all he can give you is his REAL self... and its GLORIOUS!!!
Standing or sitting, whatever, in my opinion he's the greatest lead guitarist of all time. I'm 69 years old have been a rock, and a Blues lover, and I've never heard anyone, including Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Richie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, and yes, and even Stevie Ray Vaughn (although he's very close) be able to play with the speed Jeff Healy can play.
When I first heard Jeff Healey on the local rock station was the song "Confidence Man" of his debut album "Confidence Man" it blew my mind!! Headed right to the record store and bought it the first day!! I have been a fan ever since! He played in Detroit, Michigan all the time being as Canada's right next door. I saw him seven times and it was like a religious experience watching him playing his guitar! I've never seen anything like it!! My wife and I had meet and greet tickets backstage. He was a super nice guy, very humble! Just a phenomenal guitarist and human being. One of the greats! Check out his 1994 Live At Grossman's performance! The whole album is just killer! He does Jimi Hendrix songs "Killing Floor" and "All Along the Watchtower" It will blow you mind! Love your channel and your great reactions
Your so right. When I saw him play as the years go passing by from the front row it was the most spiritual thing I have ever witnessed. Got backstage to meet him, what an honor.
@@duanewelsh5611 That's awesome Duane!🤘 Like you said, a totally spiritual experience!! Front row seats also, doesn't get any better than that to witness such a talent! 🎸 Peace brother!✌
I always loved Jeff Healy back in the day. Every time I see this video it still blows my mind!! I can’t even carry a tune in a bucket and this friggin blind guy is slaying the guitar and singing that way!! Always amazing👍
If he looks familiar to people who aren't familiar with his music, he had an appearance on the movie "Road House" with Patrick Swayze. One of my all time favorite musicians! You don't necessarily think of world class blues from a blind white Canadian. He is missed...
Next level talent, top 10 greatest ever guitarist particularly since he was blind and mostly self taught, and came up with a playing style that’s never been done before.
Maybe THEEEEE greatest live performance I've seen by any artist... ever! I get completely geeked whenever I see this and only wish I could have been lucky enough to witness this live and in person. RIP Jeff.
How did I possibly miss this reaction video when you first released it?! The entire band is killing it, but Jeff Healey is absolutely on fire and this is one of my favorite blues-rock guitar solos of all time. His technical ability is amazing, but his phrasing and the passion he puts into the playing is incredible.
In 1983, I used to go and listen to Jeff play at a small club called the Cameron House in Toronto. I must have watched him there from a front row seat about 5 times. He played this "See The Light" most times. At that time he was only 17 years old, but the talent was already there in full force; he was still too young to legally order a beer. Boy, this brings back some great memories. Apparently, there was also a band called "Rush" in town … you should pay them some time ;-}
Great review. His first album got me through hell. I had almost been killed in a mill accident the year before and instead of retraining me I was forced to go back to the mill. I had been having night terrors nightly and was shaking the whole 50 minute drive to the mill, with his album up very loud giving me some strength. If Jeff could overcome so could I.
Great reaction!!!! Great song. Ironic lyrics bc he's asking a question. "Can you see the light?" bc he can't. also shoutout to the girl in blue who recognized the bass real early!!! It carries the song. Anyway awesome job!!!
I 'iv been to his club { HEALEY"S } a couple of times MY! MY! MY!> He had some awesome blues. musicians and singers there weekly. He played there at times too.
Use to catch him at The Rainbow Club before (and as he was just) signed. Small venue, beer on tap and Jeff killing it on the little stage. Great days indeed.
Got to see Jeff twice. The first time was a full show with him headlining and no opener. He played a theater of about 2,500 seats. Perfect sized venue for his thing. What a stupendous talent and incredible sound. Truly sublime. The other time was as the curtain call after a full set by the Robert Cray Band as opener, a full set by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (the night before SRV was killed - we caught his first of the two final shows he did at Alpine Valley), and a full set by Eric Clapton. Eric brought Jeff out (unexpectedly, none of us in the audience knew he was there that night) during the curtain call. Jeff TORE IT UP BIG TIME. Stupendous player. For real.
As someone who has been playing guitar for a long time (over 30 years) I can tell you that the way Jeff, plays that thing on his lap is astoundingly difficult. He was an amazing musician....one of the best to ever do it.
First time I saw him live he opened for Bon Jovi at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. He was awesome live a true Canadian legend. Thx for highlighting his amazing talent
Saw him live in Windsor, Ontario Excellent. R.I.P. Jeff. Roadhouse Dalton (played by Patrick Swayze) “You play pretty good for a blind white boy”. Jeff (Playing himself) “Yeah and I thought you’d be bigger”.
He plays pretty well for a blind kid! Fun fact though; the pianist is none other than Dr John (inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 by John Legend).
If you haven't seen the video where he played with Stevie Ray Vaughan, you need to watch that gem!! Two of the greatest guitarists, in my opinion, to have ever walked this earth, on the same stage. It's absolutely mind blowing!!
Just when you think you've got your 'Top 5' identified, Jeff reminds you that he belongs there on the list. I've always loved his playing and astounded by his phrasing. Great voice, indeed. Thank the Lord he recorded so much. One of my favorites is "Something to Hold Onto" on the "Hell to Pay" album. The solo is a clinic on how to really play the guitar.
Read his biography out of the darkness jeff was adopted and wanted to learn piano but his family couldnt afford a piano so compromised and bought him a guitar instead think they made the right choice that sustain on that guitar is amazing
"You play pretty good for a whiteboy." Yeah and I thought you'd be taller. " chemistry pure and simple between Swayze and Healy. Trading the usual barbs others throw at them. Roadhouse a classic. Not a good oscar type film but great fun and an amazing soundtrack. Memories of the ol' Double douc...er Duece! 🤣😉
Killer reaction guys, this video brings back so many memories. It's the first time I saw Jeff Healey play. It's from the David Sandborn Show and that's the late great New Orleans legend Dr. John on piano. The David Sandborn Show ran in syndication for only a couple of seasons in the late 80s early 90s and always had a killer and varied lineup of musical guest. David ia phenomenal saxophone player, would often jam with his guest. Jeff of course was a brilliant guitarist and vocalist with truly original playing style. You should check out his biggest hit single the ballad "Angel Eyes". This is also going to have me doing deep dive looking for more David Sanborn Show clips.
He was such an amazing artist. Check out some of his harder stuff. I suggest "Feel Better" and then perhaps his live cover of "All Along the Watchtower". You are welcome. 😎
Jeff wrote see the light when the jeff healey band first started gigging a guy came up to him and flicked a lighter in his face and said can you see the light and fell about laughing with his drunk mates because of his blindness so unaware of Jeff's guitar skills this guy mocked him said what you going to do with that guitar buddy plugged in his fender and he said to a band member what's the guys reaction he said his jaw hit the floor
I forgot to add Eddie Van Halen, to my list below of legendary guitarists, (Although, Eddie has come close too) who can play with the speed and the sound of Jeff Healy.
The story i heared back in the days was that he played the guitar that way because he was blind and never saw how to play it "correctly". On the other hand, it just looks strange because he plays a normal guitar like a pedal steel 😄
I saw Jeff on his first tour of Canada. It was $2.00 on the first night and $5.00 on Friday. The room was packed. Every guitarist in town was front and center watching him rip it up.

Well said man. No bullshit from those guys.
That's also David Sanborn who introduced Jeff. A legend of jazz on alto sax. Marcus Miller has collaborated with David on and off for decades.
Yes, but only us baby boomers know that!!
A true super group!
"lightning in a bottle" is the perfect description of that performance. Four legends in their own right coming together to create one of the best live performances of my lifetime. jeff healey very famous for his performance in the movie roadhouse here in australia
DOUBLE Bobbleheads = LOVING it!!!
R.I.P. Canadian Blues Man
If this performance doesn't make you smile, or bring a tear to your eye, you've got problems. RIP Jeff.
I actually met Jeff a few times, such a nice and humble guy. So sad he passed so young, 41, so much talent. He should be inducted into the rock HOF 🤘
💙💙💙💙💙
Lucky! Yes, he should be in the HOF
I was privileged to see Jeff play live. R.I.P. you genius.
Me too. God bless him.
You have to see Jeff and Stevie Ray do "look at little sister". Jeff sets his guitar on fire. Not literally. Stevie is loving it and just smiles. RIP to both!
He was amazing. Was in Roadhouse. Angel eyes. Rip.

Jeff is a gem he deserves to be in the Goat conversation when it comes to guitarist what a talent
Most definitely
💙💙💙💙💙

Jeff was also a superb jazz trumpeter, too. RIP, Jeff. Canada loves you and misses you😍😍😍
Jeff is an INSPIRATION... pure authentic. The man's never seen someone make the "stank face"... he doesn't know how to imitate anyone else... all he can give you is his REAL self... and its GLORIOUS!!!
He was another amazing talent gone way too soon!!
Been listening this guy for years and still have no words about his talent, amazing guy 👌 another is Jason Becker
Jeff’s greatest performance ever
Keyboard player is the legendary Dr John "The Night Tripper".

Yes the see the light Jeff Healey- RIP- and thank you for the music!
R I P ...jeff.. one of the greats! I love you guys reactions! Rock on!
When Marcus Miller stands over you to watch and smiles and laughs, you are doing something.
I saw Jeff and his band on tour in the UK shortly after Road House was released. Amazing show.
I always loved Jeff Healy back in the day. Every time I see this video it still blows my mind!! I can’t even carry a tune in a bucket and this friggin blind guy is slaying the guitar and singing that way!! Always amazing👍

I loved this performance! Incredible period! Yes, Jeff we see the light! He had a beautiful song 🎶 called Angel Eyes you guys should react to it!🙌
I sure miss this guy.. I was a huge fan of his back in the day.. he was so inspiring.
Maybe THEEEEE greatest live performance I've seen by any artist... ever! I get completely geeked whenever I see this and only wish I could have been lucky enough to witness this live and in person. RIP Jeff.

Dr. John on the piano. A great musician himself. He just recently passed away as well.
Jeff was a monster. Came out of the gate hot and swinging on this tune.

Check out his hit song, " Angel Eyes " .
Jeff is the best I have ever ever seen….ever
CHILLS!!!!
I love this ripping, take-no-prisoners type of blues. RIP Jeff!
You literally do not find musicians like Jeff and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They are far and few between in this world we have today.
Always nice to see Canadian content
A great Canadian talent! Ironic that a blind man is singing about "seeing the light".
Seeing the light has nothing to do with vision, brother.
@@johncritchlow8156 True, but still ironic :)
Ironic? I always thought of it as the blues. Most of his songs have some sort of sight reference.
Only us Canadians can pull this off
What? Really? Smh!
Jeff healey could shred with the best of them that's for damn sure
Saw him open for ZZ Top in Tucson WAY back in the day... unbelievable.
Great review. His first album got me through hell. I had almost been killed in a mill accident the year before and instead of retraining me I was forced to go back to the mill. Great reaction!!!! Great song. Ironic lyrics bc he's asking a question. "Can you see the light?" bc he can't. also shoutout to the girl in blue who recognized the bass real early!!! It carries the song. Anyway awesome job!!!
Probably one of the top 3 performances I've come across, easily!
I 'iv been to his club { HEALEY"S } a couple of times MY! MY! MY!> He had some awesome blues. musicians and singers there weekly. He played there at times too.
I love the bass playing on this he is ripping it up just as well as Jeff.
Use to catch him at The Rainbow Club before (and as he was just) signed. Small venue, beer on tap and Jeff killing it on the little stage. Great days indeed.
Jeff was a force of nature. Badass Canadian boy

🤠 Jeff was the only guitarist that impressed me similarly to the way I felt about Stevie Ray. 🎸🎸
He even impressed SRV :D look at look at little sister when srv looks to Jeff with a how does he do it face :D
As someone who has been playing guitar for a long time (over 30 years) I can tell you that the way Jeff, plays that thing on his lap is astoundingly difficult. He was an amazing musician....one of the best to ever do it.

Excellent.
R.I.P. Jeff.
Roadhouse
Dalton (played by Patrick Swayze) “You play pretty good for a blind white boy”.

He wanted to show you didn't need sight to see the light that we all have if you want it, love him!
Jeff was a good Canadian boy (R.I.P.). The Jeff Healey Band is the house band in the Patrick Swayze movie “Roadhouse”. Classic!
Read his biography out of the darkness jeff was adopted and wanted to learn piano but his family couldnt afford a piano so compromised and bought him a guitar instead think they made the right choice that sustain on that guitar is amazing
Don't forget Dr. John........Legend!
“As the Years Go Passing By”, bluesey, soulful awesomeness.

Bassist is rocking it too! As a bassist thanks for the call out. Being behind geniuses is hard
😂 Wonder who he is?
He had a marvelous fluidity to his playing.
how do think he would do on Americas got talent....he is one of the best guitar players ive seen on youtube...
he also was in the move roadhouse with patrick swayze
Jeff was the cause of a lot of beginning guitarist to burn their guitars.😂
You should listen to his song Angel eyes. He has a beautiful voice.
Jeff Healy does on the guitar what Jeff Buckley does with his voice.

More Canadian greatness.
never stop a solo
If you drill a little deeper you can find a group called The Jazz Wizards in which Jeff plays old school jazz trumpet!!
I think eddie van halen said i am in big trouble when he heard jeff play the first time
Dem sum krazy facis
i saw him at abar in about 1985
Gone WAY WAY to soon.
