Jeff Healey, to me, is one of the best guitar players in the history of the world. RIP Jeff!
He should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Arguably the best guitar player ever. Even Stevie was in awe of him.
You need to see him and Stevie Ray Vaughan playing together!!! EPIC!!!!
Much rather that ride car withem!
Yes! Great performance
That is so amazing I watch it once a week.....lol
Facts!
Stevie Ray Vaughan once said Jeff Healey was the greatest blues player he ever met.
Criminally under-appreciated guitarist. He has a couple of mild hits in the 80's, and even had an appearance in Road house...... but his success has no bearing on just how good he is.
The mild hits down south were huge hits in Canada
I had left a ZZTop concert...wasn't feeling it...with my brother and stopped at a local bar that has live music. Small little dance floor with a nobody just about to start his set. We ordered a couple of tequilas and some rum and cokes. The musician turned out to be a wizard, it was Jeff. One of the best sets I have ever heard! Made even better by being such an unexpected event. Rest in peace
Jeff Healey and Gary Moore are the reason I love blues guitar.
Check out Jeff Healy Band - See The Light and Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues.
RIP Jeff and Gary.
My top two favourite players
Jeff, Gary Moore, SRV, the music they left us with, but also what still could have been.... just pure brilliance.
Jeff and his sister would come and hang out at our town bar on a Saturday and he would sometimes get up and play with the house band, pretty cool
Jeff was a bad man! Definitely one of the top 5 blues players of all time. And that voice?! LEGEND!!
One of the "good guys" for sure. RIP Jeff.
I hate it when I mention Jeff Healey to someone and they say...
"Oh you mean that guy out of *Roadhouse* with Patrick Swayze. I thought he was just an actor"
I'm like aaaaarrrggghhh!!!!!!
I never get sick of watching Jeff play guitar, his eyes, i love that he doesn't wear glasses, you can feel what he plays through his eyes.. Yet he's blind.. RIP Jeff, gone but never forgotten..
It is fascinating.. I'm pretty sure he has prosthetic eyes.. just so it's not an empty socket.. Yet his face is still expressive.
@@creinicke1000you are correct. He was given prosthetic eyes. They had to remove his eyes to fight the cancer.
George Harrison once told Jeff that his version of “My Guitar Gently Weeps” was the only cover he liked more than his original!
R.I.P. Jeff. I know you, Neil & Domenic are making sweet 🇨🇦 music in Heaven 🤘🏼
The most underrated guitarist in the history of rock. His videos haven't even passed a million views yet. I was so lucky to see him in a bar called bourbon street in St Agathe.
I found 11 Jeff Healey videos that have passed 1 million views:
Angel Eyes = 25 million views
See the Light = 1.2 million views
As the Years Go Passing By = 6.6 million views
While My Guitar Gently Weeps = 2.7 million views
When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky (Roadhouse version) = 4.6 million views
When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky (official video) = 2 million views.
Look At Little Sister (with Stevie Ray Vaughan) = 2 million views
Hootchie Cootchie Man = 2.4 million views
Like a Hurricane = 1.9 million views
Blue Jean Blues = 1.2 million views
Roadhouse Blues (Doors cover) = 2.3 million views.
The fans are out there. That should make you feel a bit better, hopefully. 😁
Been to Bourbon street. Great bar, valet parking when I went. Met Wayne Gretzky there and he was hammered :)
Lucky you
I think being blind also probably helped him to play well musically. He's hearing sense is probably better because he doesn't have visual connection when he's playing and he's focus is in the sounds. He's playing is incredible and emotional. Singing of course as well.
Observe a guitar lesson given by a master - and topped off very nicely with one of the best voices ever!
Two words.....Road House!
One if greatest 80s movies ever
Definitely in the discussion as one of the greatest guitarists, if not in fact the GOAT. Blind at the age of one, but his disability was not a deterrence.
A good Canadian boy love him
Travis, did you have to pick your jaw up off the floor?! Suzie just looked in complete awe the whole song!
I've seen Jeff (RIP!) live a couple times (I live about an hour outside of Toronto, his home town, and he frequented our area enough time - especially with Blues festivals!) He is the REAL deal - the licks he pulls out, coupled with the 'feel' he gives the songs is just incredible (which lends to the fact that blind people have to use their other senses - he exemplifies that!)
There's so many tracks I'd recommend checking out. See The Light, Angeleyes (really beautiful ballad), they do their own cover version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, which is wonderful. One time in concert they did a cover of Sunshine Of Your Love (by Cream), which absolutely ripped!!
You can't really go wrong with Jeff - I wish he were still around to share his insane gift with us!
Jeff Healey was absolutely amazing. It's so unfortunate he left us so young at 41.
Jeff Healey impressed me in 90-s when i 1st heard and saw him performing and his cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps inspired me ever since. He is so good in any song he plays thats it even hard to listen to him for long. I mean you get so much emotions right away so its like one-two songs from him and you ready to go accomplish whatever you need to accomplish. I am so sad that such an amazing talented man had so many horrable health problems and died so young. I have no idea if anybody else can ever reproduce the style of his guitar-playing and even in his short amount of time spent with us I think Jeff will be appreciated by many upcoming generations.
Jeff was great friends with Patrick Swayze they were in the same film Road house you need to check the film out when you have time to chill great post .
🐸
Road House! ;)
That's the movie where Patrick dissects a frog with his fingers.
@@wardrunaragnar5031 LMFAO.
@@koskenkorva2340 Thanks I put it right LOL
He was three when he started guitar. Learned to play with it on his lap. Said he can reach notes with his left thumb other guitarists can't. Monster talent. Check out his big hit, " Angel Eyes " .
Live From London is thE best concert I've seen by Jeff Healey band
The soul in this man’s playing and singing still blows my mind after hearing Jeff when he first came on the scene in the 80s R.I.P 🙏
Contrary to the belief that he played the guitar in his lap because he was blind, which is NOT true, he has said in multiple interviews it was because when he was first learning to play. His reach was shorter and he found it easier to play it with flat in his lap and it just stuck. 😀
Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan were good friends and there are some videos on youtube of them playing together.
The look on Travis's face through most of this reaction was priceless...
Hi guys yeah Jeff Healey such a great guitarist one of my favourites shame he died at such an early age 😭now I’m trying to get you to listen to Gary Moore live 2010 Parisien walkways lmontreux must thanks Kevin UK
jeff healey......see the light. you need to check it out. :)
I LOVE his voice on this song .... very breathy at times and with a couple of cracks or two on the lower end of his range. And watching his fingers move on that guitar is mesmerizing. He is SO good. All his fans still miss him. RIP, Jeff.
Cancer absolutely robbed us of at least 30 more years of Jeff ! I saw him in 2001 what a tremendous show! R.I.P.
Road House - The Movie: Jeff Healey played a mean guitar in that film and I immediately bought the sound track to that film. The cd is still in my car! "When the night comes falling" comes to mind straight away. Thanks for the reaction, loved it.
Jeff healy plays his guitar like that because he was blind
Jeff actually played on his lap because he was too small as a child to hold the guitar in the traditional style. This is why he played on his lap, and it became normal for him. My ex is also blind, and he and Jeff went to school together in Brantford Ontario.
Suzi, i can imagine you heared it so many times but i have to say that you have so incredible crazy beatiful and addictive eyes☺. You both are really cool......greetings from germany
She is everything you say she he's one lucky dude
An absolute tragedy that cancer not only took his eyes but eventually his life. A guitar genius that played with his heart and soul.
ANOTHER piece of candy from the 80s!
When you think you can't do it, let the back to the future line "You're a slacker!" play once in your head & remember Jeff! ;-)
Nice reaction!
Jeff is one of my fav blues players!
For your own entertainment , check out the movie " Road house " with Patrick Swayze , Jeff is in it with his band !
..from Ontario Canada..he passed away a few years ago....the Bluesiest blues
CANADIAN! !!
The saddest thing about him is, he's we'll known in Canada where he's from, and around the world. However he has never gotten the credit he deserves for bringing a different style of guitar playing to up front and in your face. I have rarely had conversations with people who know about him period, let alone his musicianship. I have known of his music since he started back in the early '80's.
Love it when people watch Jeff for the first time. I was listening to him back in the 80s and one of my friends had a cassette tape of him and later when I saw him play it literally blew me away and still am .
God, one of my favorites and he just doesn't get brought up enough. Amazing voice, amazing talent, amazing tone.
Read his bio, his health problems (plural) were just unbelievable and he still played like this
Stevie Ray Vaughn said that maybe Jeff is playing the guitar the way it was meant to be...
Jeff is from my home town of Toronto Ontario Canada. I had the pleasure of seeing Jeff play in his own club with Bryan Lee a blind Blues guitarist from New Orleans. It was a night that I will never forget, ever! He went on to play trumpet in a jazz band. Truly missed!
I was 14 when I got into his music, same year as "Hell to Pay" was released. 2 years later I bought another of his albums and it was a year or so later than that when I realized that he was blind when I saw him on a music video. This was around 1994-95. Blew me away that the dude was blind and played like that! Musically and in other ways, my hero and the world became a sadder place when cancer took him away from us.
I thought I was a decent guitar player........well. After that. I feel like I just started playing, yesterday. Omg.
The Jeff Healey Band!!! Love. There are so many amazing songs from this band.
It might interest you both that Jeff & Stevie Ray Vaughan were very good friends...Please check "Look At LIttle Sister"...Stevie Ray & Jeff playing together. At the beginning of the song, the cool lines in the background are coming from Jeff...Anyway, great reaction!
Music is what brings this world together you know all music brings us world together I don't care what it is it brings it together
Everyone think about this , for a small population ( canada) we had/ have some of the best axemen to ever play.......... jeff healey, rik emmitt, Alex lifeson, Phil x, Frank Marino , Brian " Too Loud " McLeod, and the list can go on and on
I'm glad to see this reaction, true Canadian icon. Your'e reaction is awesome, truly heartfelt, thanks. RIP Jeff
Another one taken to soon, I had tears rolling the whole song! Love you guy's!!
Awesome reaction , check out his song Angel Eyes .
I had the pleasure of seeing Jeff countless times at his 'hole in the wall' basement club in Toronto. Thursday night's Jeff with his house band and guest artists. Edgar Winter showed up one night.
What many people don't know is that Jeff was an accomplished trumpet playing avid Jazz lover who played every Saturday afternoon at his club. He had one of the largest collection of old Jazz records on the planet handed down by his father. He also hosted a jazz show on 91.1 Jazz fm in Toronto where he showcased his Jazz collection. So happy many are now discovering the genius of Jeff Healey
I heard 27,000 ( in 1989 he had 11,000 78s alone). And he knew where everything was.
Hell yeah - you are on the right track
I'm waiting for Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck and Co.
He's in the movie "Road House" with Patrick Swayze also
Saw him live back in the day. Dude was a straight up killer.
But don't judge him coz he's blind, this guy needs to be judge on the fact he can play and sing coz he can play and sing ❤️
good music\ talent knows no genra check out Angelina Jordan she won Norway got talent at 7 now almost 15 lots to choose from over 120 covers and a few originals would love to see your reaction!
A Legend gone too soon......rip
You've just seen one of the most talented and original Blues guitarists EVER. You can put aside the blindness, except that it was the basis of his playing. Being blind, he'd never actually seen anyone play a guitar, so he just figured it out for himself. His pull-offs, hammers and bends were much faster and stronger than is normally heard, as he was using his thumb or index finger rather than his pinkie. Stronger finger, stronger fingering.
I was lucky enough to see Healey live, opening for the Allman Brothers in the early 90's. The only better Blues show I've ever seen was BB King opening for Stevie Ray Vaughan. You can see more of Jeff Healey in the movie 'Roadhouse', where his band is the house band at the title bar.
This Blues standard dates from 1959, and has been recorded by Albert King, Otis Rush, Gary Moore, George Thorogood and Maggie Bell, among others.
you should see him play the horn look up his bar in toronto heallys great voice great knowledge of music
RIP Jeff. We miss you. I was lucky to see him once a long time ago.
First time I've seen you locked in like that Suzi Q.. 😁🔥
Stevie Ray Vaughn Texas flood , voodoo child , tightrope ,
He was a awesome person to see live towards the end of his set he used to jump up from his chair but he knew how far to go on stage awesome rock/blues player very well missed R.I.P. JEFF
My wife and I had the pleasure of catching him live in Calgary Alberta...best seats in the house...front row, center stage....WHAT A PERFORMER. ...He does not sit for his full show, he will blow you away, checkout some of his up tempo stuff. PEACE
And it's also a very sad thing that even in death he still never gets the full credit he deserves
Now that is pure talent. I did not know he was blind after seeing him the first two times.
Funny someone who doesn't know Jeff Healy guys one of the greats , sadly gone now.
Road house with Patrick Swayze. Check him out in that
Joo, niin pystyn tekemään mitä vain. Tämän loin joskus 80-luvun lopussa. Mutta kannattaako tehdä mitä tahansa. Ei.😑
The good reaction! Please! The band "Black veil brides". The song "In the end"!!!
