So glad yall had so much fun doing this! Its nice to see smiles instead of her crying for once! I was wondering how long it was gonna take for yall to realize that he's blind!God bless you guys. I WILL be back soon!! Love you guys so much!! RIP Jeff gone way too young!! #Forever41❤
Jeff Healy was a Canadian blues rocker. He played the guitar like that because it was easier for him to learn that way as he was blind. He was a treasure in the blues rock genre. 😊 and hes played with other great blues rockers such as stevie ray vaughn and Dr. John.. Who plays piano in this video.
I got to see him play on New Years Eve outdoors at Niagara Falls at the bottom of Clifton Hills looking at the falls. It was snowing and thousands of people were just having a blast. One of my favorite NYE in my lifetime
There's absolutely no stopping a video in the middle of the guitar solos. It's the original sin for You Tube reactors. Never, never, never break the guitar solo. This is blues rock. Next up, TEXAS FLOOD Live at El Mocambo. Stevie discovered Jeff Healey, and you be blown away by this performance, too. Keep going and enjoy
This is Blues. Jeff Healey is Canadian and he lost his sight to cancer at the age of one. His father gave him a guitar when he was three. Because he was so little it was easier to play it on his lap. He also plays the trumpet. Unfortunately Jeff passed when he was in his early 40's from cancer. Cheers
Saw the Jeff Healy Band open for ZZ Top back in the day in San Francisco He stood most of the show with the bassist shadowing him and bumping him back to the mic and away from the edge of the stage Great show.
Understand that people, sightless or not, who have unusual movements while performing are TOTALLY involved in their music. That's why they are so good. It shows total absorption. It's a beautiful thing to see.
I saw Jeff Healey live a few years ago. The most incredible thing I have ever seen. The whole audience, from young lads to old(er) men like myself, were absolutely slack-jawed at what we saw and heard. I feel privileged that I was able to see him live. Forget the rest, this guy was/is the greatest guitarist ever.
Also Stevie ray Vaughn live at the Capitol theater life without you. From 1985 and Stevie ray Vaughn Texas flood live at the elmocombo you will love both of these. Stevie is the guitar blues goat.❤
I saw Jeff Healy back in the 80s in a club in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. (The Misty Moon) Jeff walked off the stage, the crowd body surfed him back onto the stage( didnt miss a cord)! RIP Jeff Healy
Jeff was a absolute legend he wrote that song after guys at a pub flicked a lighter in his face and mocked him for being blind and said can you see the light and laughed at him not laughing now are they rip Jeff we miss you he had prosthetic eyes due to cancer loss and never gave up
Gotta do his "Angel Eyes"... SO good! Larry, keep giving them these great songs!! 😉 Have you ever checked out Faouzia?? She's something else, that is for sure!!
I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this unquestionably unique musician. 🤗 I personally had the incredible fortune to experience him performing live, up close, over several nights near the start of his legendary career, and I'd never even heard of him an hour before he touched the guitar on that memorable first evening! Mid/late '80s, Victoria BC, early evening on a warm summer Thursday: Me and some of the boys headed out to a local meat market / pick up bar that usually had a DJ. (🤭 Hey, I was young, well, late 20s, and there would likely be pretty girls there! 😂). When we arrived, we were perplexed to discover there was a lineup to get in, with posters advertising a live performer (not usual) debuting that night, with praises by the likes of B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. So, what the hell, we waited in line. Once we got in we sat at a table right by the dance floor, about 15 feet from a two foot raised stage. After ordering our beer, the band came out, obviously guiding a blind guy. My buddies and I kinda looked at each other quizzically. 🤔 They sat him down in a chair onstage, handed him an electric guitar, which he placed on his lap 😯 ... then, when they started to play ... my world changed ... forever. It was Jeff Healey and his band, before their first album came out: I had never heard of him/them before, but he, specifically, had my attention now. He proceeded to play the cleanest, most amazing, unbelievable guitar licks I'd ever heard. He played blues, he played rock, he played country, he even played a bit of what sounded like flamenco. He played Hendrix better than Hendrix, he played with his teeth, he played while literally jumping around blind like a mad man. He seemed to be having a religious experience onstage. Despite it being a dance club, NOBODY danced that night. Every person, patrons and staff alike, stood around, hypnotized, with their mouths agape, staring, hardly believing what they were seeing and hearing. I went back Friday and Saturday, and again three nights the following week, as they were playing a two week gig there. Their first album came out shortly thereafter, and then he was in a movie with Patrick Swayze, and then ... well, I sadly never got to see Jeff Healey perform live again. But I still feel blessed, and I shall never forget how amazing the experience was that first night I saw him play! 😊
I'm very happy to say, I saw Jeff and the band live, at red rocks, in Colorado.. I also saw Stevie Ray there with bb king and taj mahal.. met Stevie and band that morning, saw Stevie 3 times, including a jam with Jeff Beck, saw 400 other artists, over the years..David Bowie, The Who, Pink Floyd, Robert Plant, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Ice T, Ice Cube, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Minstry, Parliament, Funkadelic, Ozzy Osborne, Metallica... oh and a guy named Michael Jackson... headlining with the Jackson Brothers.. I can be your music guru..
I saw Jeff and his band in the Roadhouse movie, but never realized just how talented he actually was until seeing him perform here, all I can say is wow!
I agree nobody is better than SRV! But, if SRV was blind he may have not been what Jeff is! Just the fact that you have to mention this man's name when you talk about SRV is remarkable!
@doobiedave9686 Agreed. Absolutely the BEST live performance I've ever seen! They both played their hearts out, and Stevie Ray really allowed Jeff to shine! 💯👌💣
Stevie Ray Vaughan said that the only guitarist that could push him to do better was Jeff Healey. They were friends. There is a video of Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan playing Little Sister and at one point when Jeff is doing his solo SRV says Wow. Two greats gone too soon.
When you get to the level of SRV and Jeff Healey, nobody is better. Its just a different flavor shaped by influence, culture and circumstance. Once you reach the top, you just move left or right
I saw Jeff unexpectedly in the 80s. Some friends were in a band and played an open mic at some bar on Yonge St in Toronto. There were several acts including Jeff Healey. We had never known who he was until he started playing. Our jaws were on the floor the entire set. What a freaking talent. He lost his eyes to retinoblastoma when he was an infant. He was given up for adoption and his father gave him a guitar when he was very young. Later he went to Humber College but they couldn't or wouldn't teach him to play guitar the way he learned so he left the program. Some people called him underrated but his contemporaries knew ALL about Jeff. He was considered among the greatest blues guitarists. He appeared in the movie Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. Sadly they both passed due to cancer within 18 months of one another. RIP Jeff and Patrick.
The bassist is legendary Marcus Miller who played with Miles Davis and countless other legends. The piano player is the legendary Dr. John from Mew Orleans and the drummer is the legendary Omar Hakim from Sting, Madonna, David Bowie, weather report and again endless legends. Jeff was an underrated Canadian blues guitar beast!
I can't believe from all the reactions to this song no one has ever recognized the Bass player hammering out those amazing bass lines, the drums or the Legendary Dr. John on the piano...ok, his playing blind is amazing...but come on the super group backing him?!?!
Cancer took his eyes at1. Someone put a guitar in his lap at 2 and he taught himself to play. He was playing in bars at 15. After leaving the limelight he started a blues club in Toronto Canada [hometown]. Unfortunately took his life 2 weeks before his 42nd birthday and 4 weeks before the release of his 1st studio album in 11 yrs.
My favorite guitar player ever! Great reaction and the man responsible for many former guitar players becoming bass players or anything else. BTW, the bass player is Marcus Miller, the drummer is Omar Hakim, and the funk himself, Dr John (Malcolm John Rebennack, Jr) are all legends in their own right! Oh, and the guy who introduced them was none other than the late great David Sanborn.
@brenthenderson3983 why are you on here?? There are plenty of non-christian reaction channels you could be watching. You must live a very pathetic life!!😂😂
Look for Hank Williams Sr. “I Saw The Light”. The guitar player is blind you can see him in the movie “Roadhouse” he is Jeff Healey tragedy died in 2008 at 41 from Sarcoma
You all gotta check out Stevie Ray Vaughan a good song of his to start with is “life without you live at capital theatre” the guitar playing will blow your hair back. Stevie is considered the greatest guitarist of all time, also Stevie discovered Jeff.
The black dude is Marcus Miller! One of the premier bass players in the world. Has his own albums out. You should listen to his cover of Edgar Winters Frankenstein!😮😮
Smoking!! Marcus Miller and Omar Hakim(?), bass and drums respectively are on fire 🔥 here too, plus Dr. John on piano. Seek more Jeff out please, live has my vote. 😊❤
Just shows what you can do if you don't let people tell you you can't. Another great is Rick Allen from Def Leppard who learned to play drums after loosing an arm.
So glad yall had so much fun doing this! Its nice to see smiles instead of her crying for once! I was wondering how long it was gonna take for yall to realize that he's blind!God bless you guys. I WILL be back soon!!
Love you guys so much!!
RIP Jeff gone way too young!!
#Forever41❤
He's blind, ironic lyrics dont you think, its Rockabilly Rock Blues youa'll, 😂.
A Canadian music icon and guitar legend. Jeff lost his sight in infancy due to cancer, and cancer is what took him from us way too soon.

Jeff Healey & Stevie Ray Vaughan will blow you away with the 2 of them together on "Look at Little Sister".
Everybody compares Jeff Healey to SRV. SRV is outstanding, but he isn't blind. Jeff Healey is a whole new world of special.
SRV was humble enough to concur.
They jammed together.
There's a video of the two of them playing on Look At Little Sister. SRV plays rhythm to Jeff Healey.
All true statements
Blind since one years old
And vice-versa. They took turns playing lead.@@aaronbourque5494

I saw Jeff play in a small venue in '89. To say the crowd went wild would be an understatement! I'm so glad you loved him. He started playing at 3.
Jeff Healy was the Ray Charles of the guitar.
I had the immense thrill to see Jeff play live three times. He was an outstanding musician.
Jeff healey and Stevie ray vaughn live a song called look at little sister😊
Also Stevie ray Vaughn live at the Capitol theater life without you. From 1985 and Stevie ray Vaughn Texas flood live at the elmocombo you will love both of these. Stevie is the guitar blues goat.❤

He's possessed in a good way! R.I.P. Jeff!
He lost his sight from Cancer in his eyes and it also took his life. Roadhouse with Ben Gazzara and Patrick Swayze. Jeff was the band in the bar.
Best concert I ever saw, and I've seen more than a few, was Jeff Healey and ZZ Top. If I could go back again I'd do it a thousand times.
Gotta do his "Angel Eyes"... SO good! Larry, keep giving them these great songs!! 😉 Have you ever checked out Faouzia?? She's something else, that is for sure!!

Jeff heally is the true definition of why god is great
If god was great, Jeff would still be with us
So great of God to blind him when he was a child. Funny how God always gets the credit but never the blame.
SRV was good , but it's a fact that SRV envied the way Jeff Healey played ,and oh yes, he did it blind .

Teeth
If you want to see more look for Jeff's version of My Guitar Gently Weeps. Also look for his duet with Stevie Ray Vaughan doing Look at Little Sister.

Blues.....with an attitude.......this is where God blesses a man to give us his gift of music.
Yes he is very blind, he plays a part in the Original Roadhouse movie singing some of his songs. Another great gift of God taken way too soon.
God's gift was blind and died at 42 years old? Huh, I have a lot of questions about your god theory...
@brenthenderson3983 why are you on here?? There are plenty of non-christian reaction channels you could be watching. You must live a very pathetic life!!😂😂
When Jeff met Stevie Ray they were both happy to have someone to play with that could keep up!
Blues!! And by the way Jeff is blind!
Look for Hank Williams Sr. “I Saw The Light”. The guitar player is blind you can see him in the movie “Roadhouse” he is Jeff Healey tragedy died in 2008 at 41 from Sarcoma
He's blind! Oh so good
It’s a very dynamic
Being exposed to all the Greatness of the Music we’ve had all our lives…Is it so hard to understand why Rap & Hip Hop was not acceptable?
You need to watch the original Roadhouse
Blues. Jeff's blind. Dr. JOHN on the piano.
He was the guitarist in the movie Roadhouse
the fact that the song is "can you see the light?"......... and he cannot! epic faith
