That's a good reason for me to buy an Android tablet instead of an iPad.
+RockTo11 Yes, I prefer my Android table over an iPad. It is much more flexible and Apple doesn't allow true emulation on the iPad. There was a great C64 emulator, but it got pulled from the iTunes store. It violated their TOS. Booo Apple. -- Bill
First time I ran an Amiga emulator on my Nokia N95. It was great combined with a logitech bluetooth mouse and a Nokia BT keyboard. I used to hook it on my 1084 via RCA when I was at home.
Later I moved to a Galaxy S2 again with the keyboard/mouse combination plus a bt joypad. They worked all together simultaneously on my LCD TV too driven by an HDMI cable. The only problem was that through the HDMI the framerate was at 25fps only.
Now with a Galaxy S4 I have the same combination but no TV out because the HDMI cable is not compatible with S4.

+Vincent GR Thanks for kind words as always Vincent! Which emulator were you using? I tried hooking up a USB joystick and UAE4ALL 2 didn't seem to recognize it. I have a Bluetooh keyboard/trackpad combo device. I will give that a try, but I have my doubts about that working. Amiga 4 ever! -- Bill
+The Guru Meditation I use UAE4Droid, Uae4all2 and PUAE (maybe some others in the past I can't remember)
For a bluetooth joypad you must download Bluez IME app and map your keys there. It works for every emulator, even analogue controls (N64 - PSX - PSP etc). I have a phonejoy controller which is 1:1 psx joypad copy. I think PS3 controller work too.
As for the usb joys is a tricky method. Some work but not all. Same happens with keyboards, mice and even flash sticks and external powered HDs. There are not all compatible with the usb port. This is due firmware or power consumption.
Tommorow I will upload a video using a combination of bluetooth devices simultaneously but not on a TV cause as I said before the MHL cable I have is not compatible with my S4. Also I don't have the joypad with me right now cause I work far away from home, only the mouse/keyboard :-/

I have a coffee cup like your baseball cap! 😁 Who would have imagined in 1986 that we can run an Amiga emulator on a device like a phone. It already felt like a miracle when I ran a Mac emulation in Shapeshifter on my 4000 with Cybervision and an 060 and played the game Marathon.
I know, right! Never imagines running an Amiga in the palm of my hand anywhere in the world. Also never imagines playing online Amiga multi-player games with friends around the world and broadcasting it live to the entire world (did that on my Twitch channel last week) We live in the future! -- Bill

Better than messing about with Windows Amiga emulators for sure.
Maybe you already mentioned this, but the look of the D-pad and other buttons can be configured at the startup of the emulator. "Change device configuration" on the SDL-screen.
Choose "on-screen keyboard" and then "theme", then one of the preinstalled themes.
Been a while since i tried any Amiga mobile emu but this looks quite nice. Pretty sure in the past some Android Amiga emulators had support for physical controllers (PS3?) either in app or via a separate app. Could make games like the awesome Turrican very playable indeed. ;) Cheers guys for a great video as always.

+RetroDemoScene That brings up a good point Retro. We should have talked a bit about physical controllers. We actually shot this video a few months ago when we were getting ready for our Amiga emulation exhibit at The World Maker Faire ua-cam.com/video/J6Pl93UA8WE/v-deo.html Joysticks were not an option for that exhibit so we didn't experiment with that. We will try it out, but it doesn't seem that this EMU will work with one. Only testing will tell though. We really appreciate the comments and all your views. We put a lot of work into the videos and your support of our channel really means a lot. We will certainly see you playing Amiga games, and demos, down by the river! Cheers!

I am struggling to load some games with UAE4ALL2 but the controls and overall performance is great! It assumes que physical Dpad and other controls on the Blazetab like a charm!
Are there any emulations that allow the mouse to follow your finger or a stylus? I'd love to try DPaint or other Amiga paint programs on a tablet and have the cursor track a stylus. I can't quite seem to make it work in Amiga Forever on a PC. This would be a fantastic feature if it could be done.

+Pierre Fontaine Thanks as always Pierre! Glad you liked it. I don't know of any emu's on a tablet that precisely track your finger with the mouse pointer. However, I have great luck with my Wacom Intous4 tablet connected to my MBP using FS-UAE. Both the mouse and stylus work great pretty much exactly like they do in regular OSX. If either of us comes across an Amiga emulator that tracks your finger/stylus and will accept external controllers we will post here. And if you find any please let us know! See you soon!

Can't navigate folders, tapping ".." or any folders does nothing. Dev bricked the app 😢Whatever you do, don't update to the current version. I'd be happy to test a new version.
Edit: NVM, Development stopped 2016 on this. UAE4ARM is it.
Yeah it’s sad they stopped developing this. I haven’t used UAE4ARM in a long time either. All my Amiga emulation lately has been with a RaspberryPi and FS-UAE/WinUAE

Excellent video your production is TV quality, A show I defiantly want to watch! I have a nexus 7 and uae4all2 its good but a bit slow on the nexus. I really don't like the mouse thing, would be great if It could follow your finger. Its still good to play Alien 3 when on the move :p
+Ravi Abbott Thanks for the very kind words Ravi! That really means a lot to us. Yes, we totally agree, the mouse movement is very awkward and a big reason why Anthony had trouble playing Lemmings. It would be nice if it worked like modern tablet apps. Oh well, we see it as a fun novelty and when we do "serious" emulation we use WinUAE or FS-UAE. The Android emulators still have a lot of room for advancement, but like you said, they are fun to play with and you can't hate the price!

Can this emulator assign controls to 2 players, for simultaneous 2 player competition eg. playing games like TVsports Basketball?
I managed to get external keyboard working for controls, but was hoping to assign controls to a second controller for 2 player games.
I don't think it's possible, but wondering if anyone else tried it successfully.

Anthony and I love playing co-op Walker and Chaos Engine on our real Amigas, but it would be nice to be able to do it with our tablets too. +Pól Ó Coinn Hi Pol! Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Thanks for the kind words. I just saw your comment. You don't need an external hard drive for your phone. It should work fine on an s6. You can simply transfer Amiga ADF files over to your phone from your PC with wi-fi, google drive, USB cable, or several other methods. Let me know if you get it to work! -- Bill
emulator is fine. but if you are really try to play lemmings you can't due to controls. it has to be a way to use your finger or stylus like a mouse but without that arrow cursor visible. just tapping where you want. now it is very difficult.
Yeah, it is really difficult to use the emulated mouse. Nothing beats Lemmings on a real Amiga with a mouse! -- Bill

Hummmm. Perhaps Amiga Forever Essentials is putting in somewhere else. If you open Amiga Forever Essentials it should give you the path to where it put the files. If you still have problems email me bill@thegurumeditation.org

Hey I know this is an old video but 2 silly questions:
1) Can I use a real mouse and Joypad?
2) Given I own Amiga Forever for PC, can I just copy the same ROM files or doesn't that work? (Amiga forever licence covers 2 machines)
I use and love AF8 on my desktop at home, but for travelling I was going to install FSUAE + Launchbox on my 15" Laptop, but I'm now thinking my 10" Android Tablet may be better. Much longer battery life and because it''s the ASUS TF101 with keyboard dock, it has TWICE the normal battery as well as 2x USB ports. Seems like the perfect travel emulator IF I can use mouse and Joypad of course.
Yes, you can use the ROMs from AmigaForever, but make sure you include the key file in the directory because the ROMs are encrypted. I can't say for sure if your mouse and joy pad will work. It really depends on the specific hardware you are using as well as the emu. I think the joypad will, but I have my doubts about the mouse. But give it a try and let me know. Also this video is old and you should now use UAE4ARM as this software is no longer supported. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
@@TheGuruMeditation Cheers guys. Great timing on the answer as I was literally just setting it up and testing now. Was seeing some compatibility issues with some games but switching to AUE4ARM is an instant improvement (Xenon II was in Black and white before lol). I'll keep playing but actually, the mouse works flawlessly instantly. It's the Xbox360 gamepad that isn't working, but I think that's a TF101 thing as the gamepad is just flashing. Will report back if I find a fix. Only thing I dont like other than gamepad issue ois I can't seem to force it to 4:3 but I guess I could do that at the TV end when plugging in via HDMI. I'll keep stabbing away. Thanks again. EDIT: Spoke to soon on "Flawless" mouse control actually lol. Very sketchy once in game :/ EDIT2: Gave up on wired Xbox360 controller and instead paired a PS4 controller via Bluetooth. That IS "flawless" lol. Uses D pad for control and square for fire. If I can cure the Mouse issue for games like Captive, this is a goer :D EDIT3: After playing about with mouse speed settings, it's playable, and I'm playing Captive without issue. Puts a Ghost "system" mouse on screen but once you tune that out mentally it's fine.

Yeah I have found simple game pads like the Buffalo 66 have better compatibility with the emulation stuff than an PS4 or Xbox controller, but glad you got the PS4 controller working. @@TheGuruMeditation Just to update: Got my TF101 working using UAE4ARM + AF Essentials for ROMS, + Auto Start - No Root, to make the tablet boot up to workbench 1.3 disk prompt just like an original A500. The 4:3 issue is fixed by tapping on "device setup" on the UAE4ARM boot screen, which opens a hidden menu. Gave you guys a shout out and link in my video covering my setup. I'm just using this as a portable backup rig for a planned trip back to the UK to pick up an A500.

There may be a way to use a blue tooth or wired usb controller. I am not sure. I haven't used this emu in many years.
@@TheGuruMeditation Thanks for the answer. There might be a way to do this, though I haven't figured it out yet. I'm using UAE4Droid for the time being. The downside of that is very poor compatibility - half the games don't work. Gloom and Fears does, though, which is awesome;)

All worked up until I needed to boot the .adf game files, at this point the disks don't appear in the directory, and they have the right file type :/
Hummm, are you sure you are looking in the correct directory? Android OS file structure cane be really confusing. I make an ADF folder in the root directory on microSD card to make them easy to find. -- Bill
Hey guys, I recently bought an open pandora and paid for the amiga forever plus pack. i've been trying to follow instructions in the pandora forums as in regards to renaming the kickstart roms to make them work in the UAE4all pandora emulator. unfortunately our efforts did not succeed. is their any way you can release a product to purchase that has the roms easy to find and renamed to work on pandora? especially as the Pyra will begin production in the next 12 months, and i would like to play amiga games on the pyra. any help would be much welcome.

Hi Stephen! Thanks for watching. We don't actually make any software. This video is just a demo of how we use UAE4ALL2 on our Android tablets. Neither one of us has tried to get it working with a Pandora so so I cant help you off the top of my head. I would need a Pandora or Pyra in order to try it myself. It looks like there is some good information in that thread. So sorry I can't help now, but perhaps I will get a Pyra and do a video about that. Looks like a cool system! -- Bill
Thank you. I bought this pandora 1GHZ im using last week to teach myself how to use the system in advance of the pyra being released. it is claimed to be about 4 times as powerful. I have pre-ordered mine, there was a down payment that is about 40% of the total cost. the total costs are shown on the pyra page. my goal is to be able to play amiga, ps1 dreamcast and windows games such as age of empires and dwarf fortress through the device. I so far have worked out how to use PND mngr to get debian ports and how to install and play normal emulators. there seems to be a complete absence of youtube tutorial support regarding setting up file directories on the SD card from your PC.
if you did decide to make you tube tutorials i can give you a list that are needed. the pandora forums are great for a portion of people, but actual video tuts would be so much better.

The savestate function isn't working. I have downloaded an empty adf disk but it is saying it is copied write protected? when I attempt a save. Any help would be much appreciated as playing a career In swos then losing progress is pretty devastating :(

Hi guys I am trying to run this on my android tv but when i try to copy the files folder it says I dont have permission to write these files to USB. I have tried various file manager programs and they all say the same. sorry if this is obvious but I am not an android user, this is my first one and it is only a TV
Humm, I am sorry I am not sure. There is a never version available cal UAE for ARM. that may work better with modern versions of Android
Lure of the tempest and super off road are getting stuck on load screen and won't budge past them, any ideas on how to fix this ?

@@TheGuruMeditation I've literary sat for about 3 hours trying everything to get them to work but still no joy, no help online neither, and there's other games having problems with this app, i think ill go back to the other amiga emulator as every game runs on that but it's glitchy as hell, both are shit really.
I have troubles on my non-rooted device (Huawei Nova 2) -- here the emulation does not work on the SD card, because write access is not allowed and switching to the internal card by the first screen menu of the emulator still does not allow me to reach any files installed ... does somebody had the same experience and found a solution. That is true. But nice to have these emulation options, Sadly the real hardware doesn't last forever and it is very expensive now
Does this emulator work with external controllers, such as a Bluetooth control pad or a USB mouse?
Yes. Use an OTG cable if you have a tablet with micro USB connector. You can add a mouse that way too, with a little USB hub. It's easy to add Adf floppies.
As part of improving the image of the games on HD ? emulator Uae4all2 tab Drv Hard Boot HD is off , Dir, Dir File HD and HD File for example, how to improve with the normal graphics , for example on the game Full contack to HD 720p picture and maybe more to 1080p ?

Hey, some of the games I want to play use up to 6 disks. Is it possible to play them? Seems like you have to put the boot disk (disk 6) in the top slot and then disk 1 etc in the next one down but once game has booted it asks me to place disk 1 in DF0 but once I come out of game to do this it stops the game working. Any ideas guys? Also great video by the way. Very easy to follow. Thanks Zoe
Thanks for the kind words Zoe. Unfortunately I think 4 disks is the limit because exiting out of the game can throw it for a loop, but I haven't tried a game with 6 disks so I can't answer your question intelligently. If you get the WHDload version of the game, you could set up a virtual HD with WHDload installed and run it that way. It is a bit of work to setup, but once it is running you are good to go. Also, since we made this video he has stopped developing UAE4ALL2 and now develops UAE4ARM. Guess it is time to make a new video! -- Bill
Thanks for the fast reply. Ive just downloaded the UAE4ARM and tried it out. It has a feature that lets you load up a new disk without exiting so that seems to be working with my 6 disk games. However controls and buttons etc aren't as easy to use on the game so yes a new video showing how to configure all of that would be amazing when you get chance :)

For sure. Configuring controllers on these tablet emulators is really their Achilles heel right now because it is not easy. So much easier to do on a PC, but we need to crack the code and make another video! Stuff changes fast. It is amazing that many of the videos we made last year are already obsolete. I guess best thing to do is make a new one and put an Annotation on the old one to direct people to the new one. Install Aros amiga os on tablet and phone so you do not need buy these apps. And then you can use phone or tablet like a real computer.Try it.Keep up goodwork.

Yeah, totally. I would love to give AROS some support. The reason why I haven't is because neither I or Anthony feel like we know enough about it yet to do an intelligent video, but it is very much on our radar and something we would like to do.

Yes we understand. It can be difficult keeping machines up and running. We live in New York and space is very limited here too. Emulators are a good way to still keep the Amiga spirit alive as well as using flat panel screens instead of CRT's. However, nothing brings back the experience like using the original machines with a CRT. Thanks for the very kind words about our channel. It depends on the tablet. I can plug my tablet into my PC and copy the ADF files over or I can do it via Dropbox

It is almost impossible to troubleshoot over UA-cam comments, but the most common problem is that the emulator can't find the Kickstart ROMs, they aren't named properly, or you are missing a ROM.key file. Also this video is old now. There is a newer emulator called UAE4ARM which is the current one.

I got stuck several times and the repeated rewatching of the video didn't change squat. Using the Rom.bin in the UAD4All2's as the kick.rom was the only way to get a response at all, what little it was, it was still just another shade of gray at bootup instead of the expected workbench. I've pretty much given up at this point.
+TQA_kinGQuakerII Sorry you are having a problem getting it to work. It is possible that the EMU is having trouble with your device, your version of Android OS, or there is a conflict with another app. Are you using the Kickstart file that came with the Cloianto app in the video? I can send you a different one. I found with some Amiga emulators swapping out a Kickstart rom file can do the trick even though they should be identical. I can email you a few if you are interested. -- Bill

Seeing as how I didn't evaluate the situation in a better state considering my lack of optimism (y'know how one gets when nothing seems to work), I'll see to it: I've got an JXD s7800b Android 4.4.4 tablet equiped with Cloianto's "Amiga Forever" app. Since I REALLY want to get in touch with some Moonstone: A Hard Day's Knight again, I'm willing to try (mostly) anything.

Alright, let's review the recent happenings here:
1: I did recieve said ROM-files for the problem and I am thankfull for the help and review in it's whole.
2: I managed to solve the problem without them *having a party on the inside*. The problem was within the Misc tab on the Kickstart setting. When it's configured, it's automatically set to Custom. But if I adjusted it to Aros (probably has some full name but gimme a break, I'm have obsiously no idea what I'm doing at this point) and there I had it. Bewm. Works like a charm.
With the confirmed ability to run the Workbench I couldn't stop myself from plugging in the 3 Moonstone discs and with trial and error to perfect the experience, I've set my JXD s7800b input as the joystick, turned off the Linear Filter (duh, who want's that?) and with the res of 320x240 I'm chopping away just like I imagined. It's not as mindblowing as I had hoped but I'm extatic that it works.

I followed the video and got it set up but Celtic Legends asks you to choose a language. Neither the Android keyboard or the Amiga keyboard register pressing the "E" key. Anyone any ideas? SO CLOSE!

Yeah, it can be difficult. Especially when using a touchscreen to interface with a UI that was designed to be used with a mouse and joystick. I don't know Celtic Legends but I can find it and give it a try if that would help. -- Bill
Yeah, things like Speedball 2 are fine to get into because they're just using the fire button but any keyboard interaction is tripping me up. I'm new to emulation so there's a ton to learn, I'll try running a dosbox next, by all means have a go at Celtic Legends yourself though, it's a great game! Thanks for the replies!
Cool, I will give it a go. I know Anthony has successfully paired a 3rd party Xbox 360 controller with UAEFORALL2 and his tablet which is really cool. Of course if you have a PC Amiga Forever/Win UAE is your best option, but the portability of a tablet is nice. -- Bill

Man so frustrated....got workbench to run but cant find any adf game files to save my life! I find 1 but when i download it its a bleddy zip file... Can anyone help?

Hello guys, cheers to this video I got the emulator up and running but can't find a good site to download games to my android device. The only ones I can get are zip files and don't know how to play them on the emulator. Yes I am a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff but please could you help me out

Sorted the zip problem with a extraction app for andriod. Works awesome but the next problem is I can't get past the cheat screen which I don't need on alien breed special edition. Any clues? Lol
try right clicking the mouse button or scrolling through all the options to the last one. also try ESC

You are talking about Descent Freespace 2 game? It might be possible on the Newer UAE4ARM. I would have to try it. That game requires a lot of power. I know WinUAE can do it
I have an Asus Zenpad 3S 10 which is pretty fast. It would be nice to play Freespace 2 on the go.

Hi Adam. I am sorry you hare having problems and am trying to understand your question the best I can. Please understand that we DID NOT make this piece of software so don't hold us responsible for anything that it - or you do to your device. The developer's website is anddev.at.ua/ and email is lubomyr31@gmail.com You should try contacting him for tec support. Our video is simply a demonstration of us preparing my Galaxy Note 10.1 with UAE4ALL2 for an exhibit at The World Maker Faire and a basic overview of the emulator. You should always have backups, especially backups of your photos. That said, with the newer versions of Android write permissions have changed. For example, you will have problems attempting to save to an external SD card because Android now blocks many pieces of software from doing that. You must specify a directory on the internal storage that the app has permission to access. Perhaps this is your problem. Try saving to the UAE4ALL2 directory on your device. I hope that solves your problem but you might want to try contacting the developer for tec support. Good luck and thanks for watching. Hope you can get your photos back. -- Bill

It has been replaced my UAE4ARM. Still not that easy to use if you aren't familiar with Amiga though
