Excellent tutorial, the best i have seen..i have 3 real amiga computers but to save on wear and tear i like to use emulators...i have a amiga mini on order and fs-uae on my linux laptop..thank you very much for this.
Thanks for a good video, especially from someone who doesn't claim to be an Amiga expert. I did try to add some additional information that would have been of help but UA-cam's algorithm keeps deleting the comments.
Thanks for trying. Please use the contact form on the bytesnbits.co.uk website if you want me to add the info onto this thread for you. Any advice would be gratefully received. I've very much taken a 'let FS-UAE sort it out' approach and left the settings as they are. So far it seems to have worked for most games but I'm going to do some work on some of the apllications side of things - Deluxe Paint, etc. If there's anything I should look out for with that please do let me know.
Returned errror? Log out and back in temp. solves it, till it happens again... For some reason Its annoying as hell when it happens, particularly when editing a post with links. Bots get in the way. Stupid Google.
No matter what game I select to play I always get an error message that says: Could not find fs-uae executable. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Sorry I'm new to the setup.
@terrydaktyllus1320 has a great workaround to get the official, legal, Kickstart ROMs at a much reduced cost. Go onto the Google Play Store, search for "Amiga Forever Essentials" and you will see it on there to buy for £1.79. It contains a number of Amiga Kickstarts for on-phone emulation and once you have them from there, you can copy them off the phone or tablet onto a PC.
Most excellent video - will try these programs out - missed playing Populous 1 & 2 from old Amiga / ST Days. Quick Villager Q -- if I want to go to say Deluxe Painter / would assume that I need to press different Icon on FS-UAE to kick the program into Kick start environment ?
Think this is for playing Games & Demos - Wonderbarr - manage to get Roms and some ADF Images, tried Populous 1 - M/s windows mouse didn't work but Populous 2 works great!
You can use the emulator to set up a full Amiga desktop environment but you'd need to look at the documentation to see how to do that as it's a whole other video tutorial's worth of information.
so i've downloaded emulator and launcher and extracted, i downloaded kickstarts and imported, i also downloaded some lha files, and when scanned it dosen't show anything...it's the same with show all games option and show available games, it's just blank....only thing i didn't do is to log in, because i wan't everything offline...is it possible to run/play without internet or logging in? or is that requirement?
You don't need an internet connection. If you've got all the files in place it should just work. Make sure you've got everything saved into the right folders.
@@BytesNBits still can't get gemes to show in emulator after scanning, but i managed to start 1 game that's in adf format through bat file, and when trying the same with lha files it gives me error did not find specified whdload slave
Hi, thanks for you video, can you hel me to ad FS-UAE emuletor in Batocera V38 on Raspberry Pi4? I've try more than one time, but it not appear, I've downloaded more the one bios pack too
Have you added any game files to the ROM area? By default Batocera won't show a system if there are no game files loaded. If you've got the Kickstart ROMs in place that should be all it needs.
Hi, I was using an older version with relative success. I then downloaded and install the latest version and followed this video and now nothing works. It says it can't find the executable. Also, it won't detect my Xbox one controller or mouse., where as the older version did. I think I need to start over but should I just delete all the files and folders? If I try to "uninstall" the app doesn't show up in my list of apps to uninstall.
Your best bet is to reinstall. The software is sensitive to the folder structure and where you extract all the bits. If you follow the video using a new folder for the installation you should get it to work.
@@BytesNBits thank you for replying. Had to reset laptop and start again but all working now. Do you know why my Load/Save states are greyed out and not usable?
Hi mate, great video, just a quick question, you've already got the games on your PC and you selected the file on the emulator engine. where did you get the games please?
Maybe you can help. Im trying to run Black Crypt on Amiga Forever but after i make my party it tells me to save game to 'savedisk.' I cannot figure out how to do this or where I would put this savedisk after I create it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Go to the FS-UAE menu and attach a blank disk to one of the disk drives. It will probably ask you to save the disk file somewhere. You can then use that for saved games. Just reattach it when you want to load the game again.
Thank you for the reply. I had to put the game and the 'gamesave' file in a folder on my desktop, highlight all files in the folder then open with Amiga Forever. I was finally able to use the game save disk this way. It would not work directly from Amiga Forever. Strange.
Brilliant tutorial! I have a problem though. When I launch a game it says "NotFoundError" could not find file for sha1://66dba etc. What did I do wrong? Thank you 🙏
I think it might be an issue with the game files you're using. It looks like it's not got all the files it needs in the download. I'd try another source for your files. Make sure they are in the lha format. Hope you get it going.
Any idea why the .lha for Another World (from WHdload) does not load (it does not show in the games window,no matter how many times I scan the “games” folder). The disk version does work, though.
@@BytesNBits 😢 I was thinking .lha games were supposed to work if you have the kickstart roms. (I have all the ones you show from the Cloanto software). I'll have to try more games and see if this happens again. The few I have tried do work with that one exception.

Try using some floppy disk image games. You'll need to set up the Amiga model on the home tab and then load a floppy image on the floppy tab, but this will bypass the need for data from OpenRetro to get the WHDload games running. Hopefully the full system will be back up again soon.
