Finally, when the channel is updated, this video is great, Bill. I am an Amiga enthusiast from China (few people in Asia know about Commodore Amiga and its history, and there is almost no information in Chinese), and I am still waiting for my AOS3.2 CD to be shipped to my home. This new operating system is the biggest upgrade since AmigaOS 3.0. The core improvements of the system far exceed Commodore's 3.1 and H&P's 3.5/3.9. My interest in Amiga has been ignited again.
That is so great to hear! Thank you! It is always cool hearing from Amiga fans in Asia too! It is usually Europe, USA, OZ, and a bit of South America. I hope you get yours soon. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy!
@@TheGuruMeditation don’t forget Canadá!
Hot new features, if you told me back in 1997 that would still happen in 2021, I wouldn't believed it. :)
I know! Me neither
Me neither. I'm Always amazed!
Me neither
I was there... 3000 years ago.
It's amazing that this marvel of technology still has active fans!
I agree. Amiga fans and the Amiga spirt are still strong after all these years
This tech writer is happy to see the improvements in help. Overall, AmigaOS 3.2 looks pretty modern for 30-35 year old computers.
You will love the Help. It is like reading a great OS manual. And Amiga OS is looking pretty good these days!
3.2 here we come!
Oh yeah! Have fun Intrinsic!
How many platforms you know to have passed through deep s**t, and still, after almost 30 years, are struggling to get as up-to-dated as possible, even with apparently insignificant new features? This is a unique case in this hi-tech world, where a phone would cost over a thousand bucks and gets older after a month or two. I mean. Can you think about it? It is just purely incredible. Yet, we all, as mankind, can still learn something with this incredible Amiga: the lesson is that we don't need to run as fast as we can, but to care about what we really love. Thanks Amiga.
Crazy! I just received and installed my 3.2 CD an hour before I saw this video. Well done, Bill.
Thanks Daniel, enjoy!
Glad to see people are still supporting the Amiga. I used to have a 2000 back in the day.
Maybe you could do videos on changes in the OS over the years, AmigaBill? For example, how the icons and their action have changed over time?
Ciao and thank you for your nice Video, i'm new at your Channel.. i was an Amiga User from late 1989-1996, great Times, i've created my first Desktop Wallpaper and some Tracker Music with Protracker and Oktalyzer, now i'm 55 and a Debian Linux User since late 1998, and doing some Desktop Wallpaper in my free time for the Amiga Computer, maybe i have to upload them at amigalook .. many greetings from brunswick in germany and please stay safe 🙃
It's just what the AmigaOS needed. Integrate all the improvements that we previously made through patches and third-party software. Thanks for this good video!! Greetings!!
This is amazing! The developers did exactly what was needed. I have used AmigaOS 3.5 and AmigaOS 3.9 with all Boingbags. But there the update was without a system. There was a feeling that the developers just grabbed on to everything and changed based on what was possible. In AmigaOS 3.2, I see that the developers thought at first, then tried to implement new features so as to make the system usable and to make it look elegant.
You are exactly right Eugene! Thanks for watching
Nice overview! The dev team did a great job of integrating these features into the OS. She is being installed on my A1000/Vampire this weekend!
Thanks so much Doug! Oh wow installing a new version of an OS in 2021 on a computer from 1985 with cutting edge FPGA tech is mind blowing. Looking forward to the video!
@@TheGuruMeditation I am going to install it on my Amiga 1000 - I figure that would be fun to show it going on the original Amiga!
@@10MARC oh yeah, that will be really fun Doug! So cool
the really coolness is, that this old machine still is beeing maintained! Big Amiga-Love to all the ppl!
Awesome news!! :-)
super convenient to see most 3rd party features I used over the last couple of years are now included and fully supported in WB 3.2!!
Yeah it was smart of them to integrate lots of the features right into the OS
All these news pushing my mind to start programming in C natively on my Amiga 1200 ! Excellent motivation in 2021 !
Whoo-hoo! Go for it R-Type!
DO IT I triple dog dare you. 😁😁
Awesome video Bill!. I need to upgrade my A1200's OS, its still on 3.0. This is the perfect time to do just that. So many great new features :)
yeah it is a great time to upgrade Andy! And having Kickstart 3.1.4 or 3.2 helps a lot with accelerator cards like the TF as well as being able to use larger HD partitions
It is brilliant, do yourself a favour though and make sure you get new ROMS
OK, time to get my a4000/040 back up and running.
Nice!!! Have fun!
3.1 was the last AmigaOS I have used decades ago. These are pretty neat updates, and I am amazed someone bothered to release this. I wish I still had my A1200 😢
Thanks for the concise wrap up - it's wonderful to see the Amiga still getting such solid support!
Cheers Bitmap! Thanks a lot. I agree, Amiga community Rulez!
Just saw it, great video loved the all the features you went over, can't wait to order 3.2 for my Amiga
Right on OHROM! Enjoy my man!
Enjoyed watching this Bill. Ordered and eagerly awaited
Excellent demonstration of some of the key improvements! Thanks!
Great overview. Thank you
Thanks Dad!
Thanks AB, that was a nice surprise....
Chees Thickly. Thank you!
The Great Amiga Bill showing off the great new features of Amiga OS 3.2. Thank you...
Aw, you are too kind Brad. Thanks for everything man 🙌
Pretty neat! Lots of useful features
Cool Music !!! Thanks for the 3.2 info!
Cheers! Paulee and H0ffman rock!
Thanks heaps for this Amiga Bill.
Very cool and it is amazing regarding the work that took place to create these improvements.
Thanks Magnus!
Awesome, can't wait to try it out!
Thanks! Enjoy!
Awesome presentation!
This video is getting me hyped up for my copy of 3.2 🤘🏼
Great Video about the new features Amiga OS 3.2. Thank you ...
I look forward to see more videos from you
Thanks so much
Jürgen I really appreciate that. I will certainly be making a lot more videos
Lovely stuff. I'm enjoy using 3.2 a lot.
cool vid :) .. great to see that ADF support has finally made it to WB .. I used to have A1000 growing up! .. these days , WinUae is my best friend :)
That window resizing from any border is a looooong time coming for AmigaOS. We were wishing for this eons ago! Glad it's finally there. Same goes for the ability to move windows off screen.
Agreed! Good things come to those who wait...36 years ha ha! Thanks for watching JWTHH. Great seeing you as always
@@TheGuruMeditation Hey, didn't I see you at the 8 Bit Guy's new video? :)
Resizing from a border makes sense. I've seen new users on Amiga try to drag those. However, I think changing the behaviour of the titlebar was a bad choice, as you could too easily resize a window by mistake when you wanted to move it. (which I've done numerous times on Windows ...)
@@FindecanorNotGmail I've done that before as well. Maybe they could make it so that you have to hold one of the "Amiga" keys to resize while using the mouse so that default behavior is to just grab the title bar.
Well done Bill. Good informations explained in a not boring way
Thanks Benny!
Now if only the Cloanto / Hyperion lawsuit would get resolved... :P
Hummmm that would be amazing but don't hold your breath!
#13 is straight from macOS. Great job !
Oh neat! I didn't know you can so that in MacOS
Nice video and nice features! I've my Amiga OS 3.2, it's a must!
Thanks AGAuser!
nice presentation man
Nice job, Bill!
I bought my copy last night along with Amikit XE Vampire edition :D
ooooooo Nice! I am looking forward to trying AmiKitX on a V4 as well. I have heard great things about it
You had me at scroll wheel. Off to buy 3.2! Thanks so much for this.
It is so good! Love that scroll wheel
@@TheGuruMeditation How is the scroll wheel function implemented? When it is not supported by hardware. Will this work with Jerry +?
Fantastic video !
Thank you so much!
An an iPhone user, I'm already happy that my phone gets around 5 years of software updates (OS and kernel updates, not just security updates)... But to see updates for Amiga OS *37 YEARS* after initial release puts any other vendor to shame!
Ha true! Incredible, right?
Really nice upgrades in 3.2!
They are really nice!
Super awesome overview Bill! I loved it! I need to test our mouSTer with that mouse wheel feature!
Thanks so much! What is the mouSTer?
@@TheGuruMeditation Oh, that is our tiny, ultimate mouse adapter :) -> retrohax.net/the-mouster-project-another-another-update/ retrohax.net/shop/amiga/mouster/
Thanks! Great video! As always.
Some nice features there =D
Yeah, it is a very nice update! Some of these features have been available as 3rd party apps, but it is great to have them built in and there is some cool new stuff as well. The Help is loaded with great information. Thanks so much for watching Gadget!
This is awesome!
Great video as ever, friend 👍🏻
Thank you and your music adds so much to the video. It is beautiful. Thanks Paulee 👍
@1:05 easy installation; if your intention is to replace the kickstart roms (3.1.4 -> 3.2) don't install the new ones until AFTER the software installation is done or you might get an error message that the installation software can't find some libraries/routines.
Thanks for this, Bill. Just installed it yesterday, and a couple of its features feel a bit hidden I noticed.
Yep. When i first installed it it tried the window re-size and and dragg off screen and was wondering why they didn't work. I am surprised they don't default to the on position
Awesome Bill and awesome music from Paulee how is a pillar in the Amiga community!
Good to know!
Great video, loving the new features of Amiga os3.2. 😀
Where could I get a hold of that metal gear cracktro? 👍
This is amazing 👏
Mouse scrolling alone makes me want it more!
Tell me about it! Such a key feature!
my PS2 mouse I use in 1200 Tower doesn't work? Is there a separate driver file I need to use in OS3.2?
nice to have that feature in more than just MUI windows/programs.
@@disasterincarnate wouldn’t know since my mouse scroll wheel doesn’t work
Great Video Bill 🤘Still waiting on my Order From Alinea Computer Germany
Thanks RP! I hope you get it soon!
This looks great. I might need to update my A500/Wicher 500i.
Great round up Bill! I’m sold! I wonder if putting an ADF in WBStartup mounts it on Workbench at boot…
Thank you to the awesome Fratic Family! 3.2 is really cool. Great thought, but putting it in the startup sequence will still boot to Workbench but have it mounted in Workbench on startup. It won't read it as a disk in DF0 with a boot bkock
@@TheGuruMeditation Copy it to RAD: after mounting.
@@polluks2 ooooo I have to try that. Yeah great idea
@@TheGuruMeditation Ah I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought your goal was to mount certain disks on Workbench at boot. 🤦🏻♂️ I understand now what you meant. And of course that won’t work for that. Ah well. It’s good that Gotek is still a great contender too. 👍🕹️
Ooh! This is great! Thanks Bill. I had to do a fresh install because the installer wouldn’t overwrite some of my files.. (I expect I messed up permissions at some point in WinUAE, oooops) Ive been putting off finishing the install as I know I have so many little things to fix/add. This has encouraged me to finish! 😄 it looks great!
Oh interesting Mixels. Maybe the permissions are your issue. I did both a clean install and an install over 3.1 with no problem and I did it to an .hdf file and well as a folder. So far so good. But one thing I just noticed is that the Iconify button isn't available on the install I did over 3.1. It is there on the clean install. Hummmmm
@@TheGuruMeditationThat’s weird! Hopefully an easy fix. 🙂 i think it should be easy enough for me to replicate what I had in 3.1.4 … I made a back up so can reference that in WinUAE.. (It’s really things like roadshow, the plipbox, and the extra serial port that took me a while to figure out first time around I’m semi dreading, ahh, I should start taking notes when I’m installing stuff!)
@@MixelsLab Ha ha I hear you! I learn how to do something at the time I need to, then I forget!
Your virtual drive is a little full :) I have to say the window resizing and ADF support are BIG improvements that have been lacking. Looks like a great update (so far).
It seems my fancy dual gamepad/mouse usb adapter doesn't support scroll wheel and now I'm crying into my beer. It probably doesn't address whatever pin is used for the wheel. I think I have a Tom+ laying around somewhere. Maybe that'll work. Anyway, great video!
I got mine on CD as I am going to use it on my A500+ with the ACA 500+ and my A1200 with the ACA1233n. It is more disks to use. I winder what OS 3.3 will bring.
Enjoy
It looks amazing!
It is great!
@@TheGuruMeditation I'm hoping they will offer the HI&LO ROM chips too. In UK I can only buy the CD.
Find was already in 3.9 but this one looks super fast, almost like it has been indexed, ah ah :)
Yeah, sometimes I forget how good 3.9 is, but they did a great job integrating a lot of stuff that previously existed into this release
How come your work32 drive is 597% full? :-O Cool video.
I'm waiting for my Amiga OS 3.2 delivery 😁
Thank you! The time has come to pull my amiga (blizzard 1230/50+16mb ram, 2gb hdd, cd rom) back out of the closet...
Whoo hoo!
thanks, PL
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Nice!
Huh. It looks like 3.2 has everything that makes QOL much better. :D
Yeah It has lots of cool stuff!
HI Bill ! it's awesome features ! scroll mouse wow ! now I can use my Logitech beauty mouse, so many new fonctions and made more user friendly , Amiga Alive !!! , by the way a friend tried to install on a CDTV and have issue (but extended CDTV) , do you think I could install on my lovely CD32 TF330 ! let's do this thing :) superb video !
Thanks Thai! I bet it will work on a CD32 but I don't know for sure. There are CDTV and CDTV Extended ROMs with 3.2, but I think they are experimental? I haven't looked into that yet as I don't have one
The smart move with the PC is to use ISO software to make an ISO of the 3.2 CD you can then use the ISO image as a bootable CD in WinUAE after copying the 3.2 kickstart from it.
Waiting for the full reviews. What the screen looks like after holding the R + L mouse button down at startup and what functions does it have
That is a good one. I will try that after I install the physical ROMs
Get job AmigaBill. :)
Nice to see everything on one CD now instead of them milking the users 50 bucks for each version.
I agree. It is a good move
10:05 "Don't worry you can put the CD-ROM into a PC" - well, my PC's don't have CD drives in anymore as it's 2021
You can get usb CD drives for £15
Such a weird statement to read given what it is we're talking about: a new OS for a 36 year old computer.
Amiga love!
AMIGGAAAAALUUUVVVVEEEE.com ;-)
@@TheGuruMeditation hmm try That Website But ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED 🤘🤣
Hi Bill.Another great Video...again.Cool work👍Where can i get that MG Cracktro as standalone?Thanx in advance...
Thanks Tim. I will ask H0ffman if I can send it to you
@@TheGuruMeditation That would be very nice of you. All the best.
Hi,AB.Is there any answer from H0ffman meanwhile?I would like to use the cracktro to show the sound capabilities of the amiga to my friends🙏
I will just add that most of the retailers offer you the files on the CD as a zip archive if you ask for it. So you can just download it after the payment goes through.
Oh interesting. I didn't know that
That's good news cause who has a CD drive these days even in a PC?
Unfortunately that's still not there for the U.S. retailer.
Cop that Cloanto.
How do you get the scroll wheel to work, does it not need a special adapter that goes into both the mouse and joystick port at same time ?
02:19 What USB/DB9 adapter do you use and is your mouse a USB- or USB/PS2 mouse? I tried scroll wheel with some older USB-only Logitech gaming mouses (mice? ^^) and Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (PS2 and USB) using a mouSTer adapter. No success! And yes, I did mark the "Scroll Wheel Enabled" option in IControl! 🤔
Amigabill, i recently dug out my old a1200, whitened all the keys, cleaned up the case, ordered a gotek with oled display, 3.2 roms and o.s. but cant find my mouse, so advice what 3 button mice do you know to work with all 3 buttons in 3.2 natively, i noticed you using one in this video ?
Hi, @7:24, what represent "597% full" on top of the active window?
Ha ha! Great question. It is the way it is handling the folder on my 4TB hard drive acting as a real hard drive in the emulator
@The Guru Meditation whats the program you use on your real amiga to mount adf images? (that you mention on the video) Thanks!
Great question Retromania. I use GoADF. It is shareware and available on AmiNet
If I recall correctly, I think the "Better Workbench" or "Best Workbench" unofficial upgrade packages also have tools for mounting .adf files
🤘
Rock on Stuart!
OMG! How do this new OS fit with a Vampire A1200?
Do u most have kickstart 3.2 for OS 3.2 to work?
You need 3.1 as a base, 3.2 components can be loaded into ram on first boot. Having physical 3.2 ROM will help on systems with little ram and give you some nice features and larger hard drive support without hassle.
@@mmalyshev i have to buy then rom 3.2. Thanx 😃
For me it forgets you have the windows keft off the screen when switching screens and snaps them back into the screen when you go back to the screen they were left off the screen. Is this a bug or by design?
Once you mount an ADF, is there a way to unmount it without rebooting?
My Amiga 1200 is equipped with KS3.2 roms. Yet I had an issue installing OS3.2. I reached out to Hyperion several times through mail and Facebook, and never had a single response at all. Nor have they activated my forum account, even if their forum seems pretty dead anyway. While I admire the spirit to keep the Amiga alive, this is really a terrible company for their customers. I decided I'll not buy from them again and just burn my own roms if I need them. Sorry, but they just should respond to people that bought their products. Just my .02$.
Apart from that the product seems pretty solid! I never got the ADF mounting to work, but there a several other options to fix that. It really brings somewhat modern and taken as granted functions to the Amiga, and that's certainly great!
It's pretty awesome. I'm trying to get my old surf squirrel PCMCIA card and cd rom working but the install software balked the startup sequence and User-sequence. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I've signed up to a few forums but I'm waiting to be approved. Edit Nevermind. I've got a 1230scsi card for my accellerator.
Amiga Bill if you are still out there. I was wondering if KingCon is still relevent now that shell has been updated? Your thoughts.
Amigaaaa!!! YeeeeHaaaaa!!! :D
YeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaa! My man!
Is there any PowerPC support in 3.2? Is it compatible to the old WarpUP libraries and applications?
No support, it works transparently with powerup and warpup and cgx or p96 and warp3D
@@mmalyshev So it's just like the original 3.9 back then? Thank you!
@@elmariachi5133 mostly yes, we have a faster generic 68k picture.datatype, in 3.9 you had an optional warpup version of the picture.datatype which would benefit only if you had an 040, with 060 or under emulation the current updated solution should be optimal, includes many essential fixes too.
Great question. I have to consult the FAQ and Help. I am not sure
@@mmalyshev There's something missing of your comment, but I think I get it :) So one would need to try, if these libs run under 3.2 as well.
I can't get sound with a 3.2 installation with my Mediator PCI expansion.Used all the AHI resources with no success. I currently dual boot 3.9 and 3.2.1. I have an A1200 with a 1260 Blizzard.
I've run out of ideas to make the sound work. Is something interfering with AHI? Songplayer gives a fail with song player.aub with Snoopdos.I cannot figure this out. I even installed 3.2 over the working 3.9 and still sound was absent. So it's not a configuration. Any ideas? I notice the 3.2.1 Med report says 3 pci boards where the 3.9 lists 4. My Radeon and intercard work however. Do you get sound with Paula with 3.2. I notice no AHI is included. Thanks.
