It’s been a while since I did this video and you said Mayo and I’ve been racking my mind trying to remember what I said about Mayo. And then it hit me. THE PIGS HEAD!!! 😂 😂 I have no idea about Mayo on pinto beans??? Is that a thing??? Maybe I’m not southern enough yet. 😂
@@EllenPitts I have no idea what’s up with that. I moved to FL from WA state about 13 years ago. I’ve never heard of it until researching NC and found someone in Bryson City that was eating it. I know we have boiled peanuts here in FL and some other weird things, but not that. I guess FL isn’t really “southern” like you’ve said in previous videos. LOL
Ellen, you're flexing NC out of its "Vale of humility..." role! Oh, I agree with you about most of Florida not being Southern, especially if you cut off the panhandle.
I've lived in 13 different states, including Florida, Alabama, and Virginia. There are two Floridas: one is south of Daytona, comprised mostly of snowbirds and retired Yankees; the other is north of Daytona and is comprised of Southerners, military, and fishermen. Jacksonville is a nice place, but like the rest of Florida, it has two inch long cockroaches that can fly around your home...totally disgusting and impossible to kill. Having said that, we LOVE NC, especially Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Apex, and Cary. Unfortunately, 9 of our offers (in the past four months) on homes in these cities have been outbid.... and, all were well above the listed price. One offer (the 10th) was accepted, but the house failed inspection as did the septic system. We're still looking to move to what we consider the best state overall.... love the Carolina Blue Sky !! P.S. The other states are: NY, NJ, CT, OH , IL, IN, MD, MO, MT, and TX.
It is SUCH a hard market for buyers right now!!! You will get your home, I am positive of it!! Septic can be more risk a repairs can be pricey and older systems can fail. Welcome to the beautiful state of North Carolina!
Ellen Pitts would agree with that since she ain't from the South. North Carolina has the STRONGEST Southern accent of any Southern state. But, you wouldn't know it by watching this piece of crap video. Hell, the damn woman that put the video on ain't even from the South. Just listen to the way she talks lmfaoooooo
I really won’t happy about the growth from the beginning. It has changed the culture here and it went from a culturally rich place to a very bland suburb… but I ain’t nobody just my opinion
Ellen, I am a Floridian that moved to Cary 16 years ago and watches your channel. I'd have to disagree with what you said about "Florida is not the South". Florida was actually a part of the Confederacy; but to be fair, not all of Florida is the "South". From what I've seen and heard, anything north of West Palm Beach is the "South"; anything south of West Palm is New York and Latin America...
Yeah that is a common idea about southern Florida. I would put Orlando into that group as well. And that’s where most of the population is between those two cities. There is definitely some southern feel in other parts of Florida though. :) Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
South Carolina got really strict Annex law that's why South Carolina cities cannot grow. For example Greenville South Carolina has 70000 people but the urban area got 400000
I think north carolina and the south in general are more preppy than the northeast at least nowadays. Southerners seem to almost exaggerate it especially in their dress, and attire. While in the northeast, preppy is a dying breed. Raleigh Inside the beltline is extremely old moneyed and preppy. Myers Park in Charlotte, Irving park in Greensboro, and Buena Vista in Winston Salem are all preppy havens for native North Carolinians. It’s not always about the schools. Plus in my opinion the Ivy League schools in the northeast are far to intellectual and diverse now, to be considered preppy.
you're right about northern Florida! I forgot about that... Yeah I absolutely do not get the draw of Florida. I lived there for 20 years and let me tell you, if you live there you never go to the beach. At least I didn't. And there really isn't anything else to do. Go to the mall...? No parks, no museums that are as easily accessible as they are in Raleigh. Not much for families. I guess if you're single and like clubbing that's a thing... just not my thing. :-) I was reading a blog post the other day to try to help my daughter find something to do with my grandson... one of the "ideas" in the blog post was to take them to the grocery store. Unbelievable. LOL
I’ve been in FL for too long. Lol we are a melting pot for all things strange and odd. Whenever you hear of something happening that just could not be real because it’s so outlandish, it happens here. Woody and Wilcox are correct. Lol I cannot wait to move to NC. Now, I am not saying FL doesn’t have its amazing qualities, for those that like them. Just not for me any longer. :)
Why is Florida not Southern it's in the southeast. North Carolina is a good place to be. But I see you a lot of North Carolina moving to South Carolina especially in the Greenville Charlotte Metro area
Have you been to Florida? There are actually parts of Florida that are southern (central and northern Florida) but most of the population is not a southern culture. :-)
@@EllenPitts yes I've been to Jacksonville Orlando Tampa Daytona Beach and this yeah we are going to Florida for a family reunions. Florida is Southern to me. if Florida is not Southern what the heck it is then. Florida did not have snakes alligator hurricane I will pick that for my number three state Florida is a swamp.
I wouldn’t say they are common. In the Raleigh/Durham area you’re much more likely to see running shoes or loafers. In the country you’ll definitely see them. I will say my grandson has cowboy boots that his dad bought him from a local boot store. 😄
Ellen. Speaking of Mayo on things, what is it about mayo on the pinto beans up there? Is it really that good? :)

I just call it our “twang”

North Carolina is like one of the only east coast states I like. I never went there though.
It’s a great place to visit!
NORTH CAROLINA RULZ. BUT I REEEAAAALLY DONT WANT EVERYONE AROUND THE ENTIRE COUNTRY TO MOVE TO NORTH CAROLINA. WAAAAY TO CROWDED IF THAT WERE TO OCCUR
Believe me, there are plenty of other places people are moving as well. :)
@@EllenPitts good keep the masses spread out HA
Im from ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA and my family is lookin to get out of here within the next year or two. We love the triangle. Cary is delicious 👍🏾😎

I actually think preppy style is coming back a little bit in the northeast

Good to know thank you!!
If you say Florida is not Southern, you haven’t been to the Northern part of the state.
I actually have been there. That's not Florida, that's Alabama...or Georgia. LOL
@@EllenPitts my wife would say the southern part of Florida isn’t really Florida
If I’m being honest she’s probably correct
I find North Carolina overcrowded, expensive. People are uptight and not alot of natural beauty. I decided not to move there.
I hope you found someplace you love!
Actually Northern Fl is "Southern". Not sure why so many people chose FL i think it is overrated and expensive.

North carolina is beautifull fun and charming. Im mord left leaning so id put virginia over them but other than that NC is an S tier state no doubt
Virginia is like two different states. Northern Virginia and everything else!
😂 every party has some!
i tell you the best city in the south is charlotte anyone agree with me

South carolina is north carolinas twin but NC and virgibia are like bffs for life lol

Is it common to wear cowboy boots in North Carolina?
