      There are lots of trails in the area that are paved or very wide and easy to navigate...and spot snakes!! LOL!

    LOL I would nt go outside in the summer, must work remote, and dont think about driving in the winter. carry bug repellant and bug spray allergy meds year round. this is my solution!

    As someone that is thinking of moving up there from Florida, thanks for the great video. How long did it take you to get used to the winters when you moved from Florida, and how often do you get icing? It looks terrifying. Thanks

      It took me a couple of years to acclimate but I learned something that helped. I read somewhere that seasonal depression is really low in the Nordic countries but their diet is higher in fish. SO I supplement with fish oil and vitamin D (which you get from sunshine) and I believe it is the reason I don't have any seasonal issues with the lower sunshine levels. I actually love the cooler weather!
      Also, the ice really isn't that bad. It doesn't happen frequently enough to cause problems, at least for me, but I also work from my home office and I have the flexibility to cancel appointments when the weather is bad. I enjoy having a few days of down time each season with a cup0 of cocoa and a warm fire. :)
      Let me know if you decide to move! I'm glad to help however I can!

    Someone described raleigh as southern enough to where you will get sweet tea but northern enough to where people arent in your business lol

    • @EllenPitts
      @EllenPitts  3 роки тому

      Haha, yeah I think that’s a pretty good description. I think as cities get bigger they become less connected....less “in your business.” I guess that is for people to decide if that’s a good thing or not.

    Hurricanes for most part only effect the coast and not as bad as media make it seem. Yes theirs flooding and some houses damaged but it's not as horrible as media paints it
    If your about hr away from coast hardly ever effected

      I disagree with that. I am in Raleigh and we definitely keep a generator for when hurricanes (or ice storms) hit. The biggest issue around here is soggy ground and trees with shallow roots toppling over and taking down power lines so we lose power. A friend of mine lives in the foothills in SW Virginia and when those same storms pass through here and hit her, they get major flooding as the rain gets funneled into the valleys and low lying areas and cause a lot of damage. It's not just wind damage that causes issues with a hurricane.

      @@EllenPitts your talking about slow hurricane that poor down rain those are rare
      Yes in some areas trees might come down but it's not as often as some make it seem

    When I saw your snake thumbnail I clicked bcuz when I tried out Raleigh from the DC area years ago one of the FIRST negative thing I saw were SNAKES!!!!!!! At my apartment entrance. TERRIFIED.

    • @EllenPitts
      @EllenPitts  3 роки тому +1

      We don’t see them ALL the time but you definitely have to be careful!!! Always watch your step because you just never know!! I would say we set eyes on a copperhead once or twice a year but it also depends how much time you spend outside.
      Once my husband was getting home after dark. I forgot to turn the porch light on and there was a copperhead curled up on our doormat. He opened the door just as he almost stepped on it and the light from inside illuminated the snake that was getting ready to strike... not a fun moment!! I didn’t want to step out our front door for a long time after that!! 😂

    Spoken like a true Real Estate Agent. Take it from a 60 year native, Raleigh WAS a great place to live 25 years ago. Now all the influx of Northerners has caused traffic jams from 6:30 am to 9:00 am and 4 pm to 7:30 pm. Saturdays are terrible all day. Taxes get higher every day, and the idiots moving here keep voting for more. ???? Hour long waits at restaurants is the norm. Schools are over-crowded and gangs are becoming a big problem. The upper-middle neighborhoods are $500K or more. Yes, the natives are friendly, until you start acting like a pompous NY'er. Then they don't want you here! And most of the people you meet here are now from NY anyway, or China or India.

      I’m sorry your hometown is changing and it’s upsetting to you. Believe me I do understand how you feel. But migration is just part of being human. Populations grow and as they do, they move to less populated areas. We have to adapt the best we can. Migration has been happening since the beginning of time.
      And yes, I am a real estate agent. But that doesn’t mean I have any influence on migration patterns. I’m just trying to help people as best I can. They will move whether I exist or not. 🤷‍♀️
