How much power do Supersprint Exhaust Headers make on an S54 Z3M Coupe? Install + Dyno Testing

- The standard BMW S54 Exhaust Headers (yes we call them manifolds in the UK) are a good design, so just how much more power can a set of Supersprint Stainless Steel Headers make?
We fit a set to our S54 Z3M to find out!

this car just keep getting better and better
The best looking shooting brake of all time honestly.
I've always loved those cars, so timeless
Stepped headers...🤤
I have Euro factory headers on my '05 M3, here in America (bought it new off the lot). Before the pair of 200 CPI Supersprint cats no longer could scrub the exhaust clean, they really gave the car some snap up and down the rev band, and it was LOUD. But, the useful service life in mileage took its toll so I switched to (metallic 400 CPI I think) Euro cats; those Euro cats uesefully eliminated my DTC reading for post cat O2 sensors reading the Supersprint cats were worn and tired. The Euro cats straight away eliminated the DTC, but it also eliminated the snap the car had before; its better than stock no doubt though. That snappiness throughout the rev band was subdued, which was a Debbie Downer, but it usefully made the car a bit more silent. I'm thinking about springing for another pair os Supersprint 200 CPI metallic cats again, but I'm an old dog now, and an old dog driving a lowered and loud car doesn't quite seem right with the idea that as one's gray hair count rises, one is suppose to mature, be more responsible, and not commit acts unfitting for one's age. I want to stick with that, but boy oh boy, even as an old codger, I love a loud exhaust and the snappy throttle plus more power is very fun. Anyways, great video fellas! Keep up the good work.
Love the music track, that drop at 2.50- oh yeah. The rear arches on these make it for me. Evolve👍
Quality drum and bass tune in there!
Great manifolds love the car 👌 nice plate as well 👍 I've got BMW 135M on my M135i.
Would love to see part 2 and, or a dyno of a manifold and your airbox + tune.
I'd love the coupe when I got my '02 M roadster back in late 2003 I hunted on of them but couldn't find any. I know the tune and light after market mods can get you to 330whp/300ftlb really quick without drivability issues. Been rolling like that since I first got it. The owner before me hard f-it money for toys
Super nice m8 😊
Good video. I have an s50 mc that I'm in the process of renewing. Would be interesting to see how much power the car makes with stock manifold and your ecu tune once you remove the supersprint one maybe?
Headers look top notch. On the second band from front. Is the lower stud nut done up at 4:26? Looks loose compared to seeing the stud just protruding on the others.
That 5 to 20ish horse power increases, I'm sure makes a big difference in driving experience... I would be happy with that knowing that the mods are perfectly safe....
Nice work, looking forward to the air box. Was there a follow up video for the Vanos rebuild?
Another top video, always so professional. Just out of interest, I have an e46 M3, have you an approx price for the headers also a price for the air box, fitted? Thank you
Awesome
The supersprint cats and x-pipe would be a worthwhile addition too?
Interesting! Nice film. // Per (Z4M Coupe)
See you have used copper nuts very good pro!
Good
What happened to the blue e92 m3?
Can you do headers on the E92 PLEASEEEEEE 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Epic car amazing video!! But have yall seen the new m4 3.0 csl 🙉
Video coming 🤫
Did the different wheels make a change in power delivery because of unsprung weight, on the second DYNO the wheels are not the same.
No, weights are similar and rolling radius is the same, they’re actually the exact same tyres. Some tyres can make a difference though such as sticky track tyres or winter tyres.
Your rims, tires, suspension and offset please?! Beautiful ride!!! 😃🤙
We have a video on just that! - ua-cam.com/video/kwg99BtpiAM/v-deo.html
Evolve, when do we get treated with the carbon airbox upgrade?
We discontinued our own carbon airbox recently, but we may be doing something in the future.
Weren't you supposed to swap the steering rack at some point? Where are we with that?
It’s something we still have to do but since fitting coilovers and changing the alignment it’s become less of a priority
What make and type of rims does the car have at the second dyno run?
6Sixty Design Roadstar
Thank you! Looks really great on the car and new version on the originals
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, What a car!
Hi guys, I have a little Audi A3 with a 1.4 engine and I want to make it as fast as possible. What would you suggest?
Our advice is always start with the fastest car from factory as possible.
Do U get the same gains on a e46 m3
Yes, especially tied with our ECU tune the end result would be very similar. The overall gain would be less because as explained the Z3M has a lower RPM limit artificially limiting the power, but the graph up to that point would be a very similar shape.
That is a nice gain! I have an S54 M roadster with Supersprint exhaust. What is the cost of the Evolve tune? Thanks
Thanks! Please email sales@evolveautomotive.com for accurate pricing, we need to know if it would be a remote tune or in house :)
What I'd like to know is the exact engine differences between the standard S54 from a US car and the S54 that came in the M3 CSL because those are some parts I'd be interested in along with the SMG tune/programming.
The cars so clean but the underside is filthy hehe. Needs a dry ice cleaning session to make it look the part would come out mint I reckon 😎👌✌️
Underside isn’t a priority right now. Whole outside needs a respray to be perfect too, but it’s a car to drive and enjoy,
@@EvolveAutomotive yeah fair call.
If you live in the uk then that’s normal it’s an old car it’s in good condition that underneath from what I could see!
Do you like the N52 engine?
Not much experience with it, but it’s good on paper, lightweight and powerful.
@@EvolveAutomotive I have it on my E89 Z4.
If you want a true gain, need to ditch that mid pipe and get something catless. The car will scream but you will probably see another 15-20Hp.
I tried a decat and went back to stock. Now I want something in the middle, so will be installing supersprint cats soon!
Seems like a lot of effort and expense for a small game?
That's NA tuning for you. Gotta pay to play.
This is not well controlled as apples to bananas if wheels/tires are also swapped...
Exactly same tyres...as in the exact tyres that were used in the previous test
@@EvolveAutomotive wheels are different. Do you know the delta in weights?
@@mrgizmo7975 a few hundered grams. In any event wheel weights make no difference on this dyno. It's not like a Dyno Jet.
Yes we call them "Manifolds" in the UK..... because it makes sense!
:Inlet Manifold
:Exhaust Manifold
See what I did there?... made sense 👌 😂
But the s54 doesn't have a inlet manifold. Its got throttle bodies and a air plenum
Typically a exhaust manifold would be a cast iron jobbie, and the branch style called headers.
I know what you mean though about not calling things what the yanks do.
We go with US terms mainly because that’s what pretty much everyone other than U.K. uses, and we sell worldwide.
@@EvolveAutomotive I'm being flippant, but I appreciate the reply. I'm old school. We spawned the language but even we are turning in to Americans.....
Unfortunately because of search engines and the internet being global you have to go with the majority. I’ll die on the hill that is ‘fibre’ not ‘fiber’ however 😂

This clown shoe is gonna have the last laugh.
stepped headers trash
A few weeks ago, during the Auto Moto Claasica in Padova, I saw first hand Supersprint products in its stand. I must admit that I thought all these famous exhaust brands are overhyped but geez, at least for Supersprint I was totally wrong! The quality of the welds, the true same section bends, etc., are outstanding. Really top notch products.
Supersprint are really passionate about what they do, and that runs through the entire company. It really shows in the final product.
