Did you notice any difference? According to the stats this is still in AVC1 codec - this whole issue is getting on my nerves now, UA-cam is crushing the video quality!

Yes the video quality is much better.
The 1080p always seems to lack clarity specially on tree line lanes.
I guess a lot comes down to processing and uploading times and what you want to achieve good luck can be a little frustrating

@@gnarlybadger690 yeah I'm getting the same thing, tried uploading in 4k but it was still the crap codec

@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 I know what you mean I tried 4K and it wasn't great either whenever I upload I always leave the video in the private setting and keeping checking the processing in UA-cam to make sure it's in the higher codec or the little blue boxes say HD or 4K only then do I publish the video

@@gnarlybadger690 so which of your vids do you think is in the higher codec? I had a quick look and they all seem to be AVC1, which is the lower one - i'm just trying to get my head round this problem. Thanks

@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 Hi I just looked at this video on my iMac which auto plays in 1440/60HD.
If I right click on the settings cog a menu appears and at the bottom is Stats for Nerds if you select that a window appears in the video showing the info for it in there.
You will see the codec for this video is VP09 which is the higher rate on UA-cam, My Spanish TET trip video as the same VP09.
I'm only just starting to get my head round it also
I think but I'm not sure as I'm no expert, a lot may depend on the device you're viewing it on and the auto setting on UA-cam.
I always try to record and upload videos in the highest quality and frame rate I can I believe frame rate plays a big part, so 1080p 30 would be AVC1 where as 1080p60 would get the VP09 and like I said before listing each video private and giving UA-cam time to process each one before publication with the little blue boxes stating SD, HD and 4K I hope this is of some help I think there's always going to be some compression and some trial and error to get things looking acceptable even if it is from a personal point of view. With IG any videos uploaded to there I never do any higher than 720p otherwise they all seem to blur in and out of focus. Good Luck and I've subscribed to you channel and have enjoyed watching your content
