    Great footage and a lot in a short time. I’m doing so of the Trans America Trail next year on a 690. Seems the tool for the job. What was your tank range? And was the seat as uncomfortable as it looks? I’m on an 890 Adventure at home and even the “ergo” seat is pretty hard. Cheers, Ian

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  Рік тому

      Hi Ian, thanks for the nice comment the range on the standard tank on the 690 is 13.5lt which is around 3.5 us gallons normally gets me around the 145 miles mark before needing to look for fuel which is okay for Europe as there's normally an abundance of fuel stations.
      The seat is a KTM power parts seat and it's more comfortable than the standard seat but still not great but riding off road. It doesn't seem to bother me too much. I wouldn't mind a seat concept seat but they're very expensive and take a while to get here in the UK.
      Hope you have a great ride on the TAT, I ride I would love to do 🤘🏻

      Hi thanks, once I’d downloaded the sections of the TET routes I needed it was pretty much straight forward, I didn’t really plan too much each day just took it has I felt. I had highlights so to speak on my route “pic Negre” and the “Smugglers Trail” having seen them so often in other riders TET videos the rest I followed the TET route which was pretty accurate

    Nice video! Loved to watch it and relived the trip as we rode the same TET loop earlier this year. I found the 690 to be indeed the perfect tool for the variety of terrain on the TET.
    Question on your mods: Do you still run the lowering link and would you recommend it? Doubting to install one myself in combination with the Xtrig which seems pretty handy. How many mm do you run the front fork above the triple clamp in combination with the 25mm lowering link.
    Also noticed the ergo seat on your latest video... Does it make considering improvement for the longer days?
    Looking forward to you next adventures...

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and yes I still have the lowering link on, dropped to forks 20mm through the yokes and the Xtrig is great for adjusting the preload the powerparts seat was the cheaper option my mates have the Seat Concept which with import charges soon add up. I've been honestly surprised by the PP seat it's a big improvement over the standard seat

    Excellent vid I'm hoping to do something similar next year how did you manage with the ferry crossings did you pre-book and make sure you got back for the return sailing or wing it

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому +1

      I pre booked the ferries the one going out knew I had all day to make the 140 miles down to Portsmouth so just went for a standard crossing with a cabin as it was an overnight crossing but had a flexible return and was able to adjust my crossing time online

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Paul, I took 10 days.I did a road ride from Ouistreham to Aurillac no motorways just national and country roads then joined the TET the following morning. Followed the TET down into Spain back up through Andorra back into Spain and France even had time to ride sections 25 and 24 on the way home. Back off there again next year in September 👍🏻

    • @gnarlybadger690

      No, I put a 14 tooth front sprocket on which made the gearing ratios feel closer together. The change is slight but feels much improved I hope this is some help and thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

    Apologies if you're sick of hearing this, Peter, but my T7 is just a bit heavy for decent off roading though ideal for gravel and long miles on tarmac. I take it you've no reservations about long distance touring on the 690, both on and off road?
    I want to jump but just need a push!

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  Рік тому +1

      Hi, there’s always compromises to be made. There’s no perfect bike so at some point you have to decide what you can live with. I’d ride my 690 anywhere any distance it doesn’t have a comfortable seat, I’ve improved it by buying the “PowerParts seat” but as a trail bike the 690/701/700 is second to none it’s fast powerful and surprisingly agile you can take it anywhere. The T7 is a good bike and I’ve seen other guys ride some pretty gnarly trails on them but I’m just an average rider and picking up a 200kg bike just isn’t for me. If you intend on riding the TET anywhere i think as long has you know your limits you could ride most of the TET on your T7

      Have to say I think the Trans Euro Trail and the 690/701 were made for each other but I'm a little biased not too heavy nice, smooth and powerful on the road sections great and very capable on the dirt it's a winner for me
