SuperCub Trail Ride
Taking the little Honda out after it"s first service, thought I'd ride along a local byway as the last time I rode it was in pretty good condition but the winter seems to bring out the 4X4 guys 💁🏻 still not too bad I tried a chest mount for the GoPro for the first time. What do you guys think of the camera view?

    I wonder, does the bike need re-tuning with this airbox set up? Its not an airbox really, its an open to air , air filter. Does it run well? It seems drastic to delete the oem airbox, but Im trying to put mine back on.....................no go.

    Hi mate, did u use standard gearing on the bike

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690 Місяць тому

      No, I put a 14 tooth front sprocket on which made the gearing ratios feel closer together. The change is slight but feels much improved I hope this is some help and thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

    I must be a freak, I hate even the idea of putting big distractions sticking up on the front of the bike. I dont want to see anything but the road and what Im riding thru. This giant screen, movies can be watched on it or no? I put the 110.00 KTM windscreen on my 21 690R................simple and works.

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690 Місяць тому

      One of the main reasons for trying this type of screen and holder was to place the GPS or digital roadbook in my line of vision so I can see the information as I'm looking ahead rather than looking down. I know you don't need to see this all the time but it is a great help when you are riding all day in unfamiliar territory, it is less fatiguing. If I'm honest the screen offers little in the way of protecting from wind and rain at speed and is not distracting at all from the road or track ahead. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

    • @gnarlybadger690

      Most campsites we stayed at were off the TET route so it was a case of seeing how well the day was going and we were all feeling along with campsites we used Airbnb. These we could usually find very close to the track and between 3 of us they worked out as cheap as the camping. I think we tried to be as flexible as possible regarding accommodation. Hope this is of some help and you have a brilliant trip 🤘🏻

      Hi, Before the 690 I had a 500 exc but that was too harsh for me and prior to that I had a GS 1200 which I rode on quite a few TET sections the 690 is a great compromise between the two I'm able to do the gnarly stuff if I encounter it without the huffing and puffing of trying to get the GS through. I'm now in (only just) my sixties so again the 690 is so much more manageable not as easy as the EXC but way more comfortable and much more civilized, the power parts seat improved things measurably. Having said all this if I were younger I may have opted for one of the modern middle weights. Hope this is of some help and thanks for taking the time to watch 👍🏻

    I Just got a 690 and am starting to research equipment. I need to improve the comfort at highway speeds, and this setup seems the most appealing to me. How does the windshield do at blocking the wind? How tall are you? Do you feel the extra weight on the steering, or have any issue of instability like when catching the airflow off trucks on the highway? Thanks for the review!

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690 3 місяці тому

      Hi, with the screen on there is no feeling of any extra weight on the steering and it does help with blocking the wind to a degree, above 70mph there's turbulence but I do have the screen in it's lowest position so not sure if things would improve with the screen set in the highest as I haven't tried it. I'm 5'.7" so quite short. In all I'm really pleased with the screen assembly and haven't had any issues with passing trucks. I have to be honest I don't ride many major roads unless I have to but would again say there's a good improvement on general day to day riding. Hope this is of some help and thanks for watching 👍🏻

    I am just about to go from a KTM 450 EXC MY 14 to a new KTM 690R 2023 - How did you find the KTM Touring Screen to not having one on the roads? Worth it or not ? I don't really want to go down the big screen / rally tower yet - but seen the Touring screen as an option.

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690 3 місяці тому

      It does improve things slightly, keeps the dust and mud off around the bars and definitely helps keep the weather off any phones or GPS units you may have fitted. I got the screen off a friend free so that's the main reason I put it on, I've now replaced it with the Adventure Spec mini fairing for the 690/701/Gas

    Apologies if you're sick of hearing this, Peter, but my T7 is just a bit heavy for decent off roading though ideal for gravel and long miles on tarmac. I take it you've no reservations about long distance touring on the 690, both on and off road? I want to jump but just need a push!

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690 8 місяців тому

      Hi, there’s always compromises to be made. There’s no perfect bike so at some point you have to decide what you can live with. I’d ride my 690 anywhere any distance it doesn’t have a comfortable seat, I’ve improved it by buying the “PowerParts seat” but as a trail bike the 690/701/700 is second to none it’s fast powerful and surprisingly agile you can take it anywhere. The T7 is a good bike and I’ve seen other guys ride some pretty gnarly trails on them but I’m just an average rider and picking up a 200kg bike just isn’t for me. If you intend on riding the TET anywhere i think as long has you know your limits you could ride most of the TET on your T7

      @gnarlybadger690 Рік тому

      Hi Ian, thanks for the nice comment the range on the standard tank on the 690 is 13.5lt which is around 3.5 us gallons normally gets me around the 145 miles mark before needing to look for fuel which is okay for Europe as there's normally an abundance of fuel stations. The seat is a KTM power parts seat and it's more comfortable than the standard seat but still not great but riding off road. It doesn't seem to bother me too much. I wouldn't mind a seat concept seat but they're very expensive and take a while to get here in the UK. Hope you have a great ride on the TAT, I ride I would love to do 🤘🏻

    Great Video! Thanks for sharing. If I may ask a question: how tall are you? I'm trying to replace my klx250 to this 690, but I found it surprisingly tall (at the dealer showroom), maybe because of the wider seat...

      Hi, thanks for watching. I'm 5.8 in feet and inches or 178 ish cm I've installed a 25mm lowering link and dropped the forks accordingly to keep the geometry of the bike and find this works well for me.hope this is of some help 👍🏻

      Thanks, the gpx we had was not brilliant as it had some dead ends and took some working out but a lot of what we rode is available on the TET app or website. I have the correct gpx for it now but not sure how I'd send it to you 🤷🏻

      On this trip I had the Moto Z Rallz on, I ran tubes and had no issues with punctures and they covered the 2300 miles with loads of life left in them
