    I gave up taking a tent with me a few years ago. Just not worth it. If the weather is good you can sleep outside without it and if the weather is bad you don't want to sleep outside anyway.
    I've had it so often that I laid down in a damp tent in the rain at evening, only to have to dry everything the next morning. And if the rain continued the next day, you are basically fucked. There is no point in this.
    If it rains, I look for shelter in form of guesthouses, cabins or cheap hotels, and if not, I do not need a tent. But what I can highly recommend is a hammock. That changed a lot for me in terms of outdoor sleeping quality.

      Cheers for the info bud I have been considering a hammock I'll have to check them out 👍🏻

    Hi Peter, i have a similar setup to go to Sweden in august, and also have the Kriega Heelplates. I am worried the OSBase strap runs too close to the chain. What are your experiences after your trip?

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Steve, I have used the Kreiga setup you see on my bike almost from new I now have over 7,000 miles on my bike. I've done several multi dayTET trips both here in the UK and Europe and have to say I've not had a single issue with the Kreiga gear which has been through all weathers river crossings, dusty trails and wet muddy tracks. Using the Kreiga heel guards there as no issues with the straps on the OS base with regards the chain or the exhaust, the straps are still in the same condition as when new although well used. My friend who was with me on the trip manage to pull one of the rear tensioning straps from the OS base but he uses a rack on the back of his bike where as I have the Kreiga loops installed in my rear mud guard. Hope this of some help and safe travels

    Nice, I have same bike and run exact same bags just loaded differently. Bike still handles really well packed out. Always tweaking setup inside them of course so nice to see what others are doing!

    Great Video! Thanks for sharing. If I may ask a question: how tall are you? I'm trying to replace my klx250 to this 690, but I found it surprisingly tall (at the dealer showroom), maybe because of the wider seat...

      Hi, thanks for watching. I'm 5.8 in feet and inches or 178 ish cm I've installed a 25mm lowering link and dropped the forks accordingly to keep the geometry of the bike and find this works well for me.hope this is of some help 👍🏻

    Great job Pete just enough gear, glad you didn't overdress the bike which spoils the ride, really impressed how small your (old farts) medication bag is I prob need that much for one night lol.

      Ha Ha, on the next one I plan to go a bit lighter although the weight did not tell when riding. I reckon depending on where your going it needs a little thought as to what you really need and what you’ll put up with. I may not have mentioned it’s a magic bag its like the Tardis on Dr Who 😂😂

    Super video Peter - really helpful. I'm getting used to Osmand Maps and I want to run it as you have but I am having trouble setting git up to stay at 2 miles out. It zooms back in again to a much closer view. Did you have it moving with you at that range? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому

      Glad you liked it Nigel, I haven't changed anything on the Osmand App on my Android phone normally I just tap the Minus symbol until I reach the 2 miles out and leave it. When using it wouldn't automatically move the map as we traveled along the route so I would just place a finger on the screen and drag the map. Its a great app but it does have a bit of a learning curve there are some good UA-cam videos. I put one below hope it's of some help

      @@gnarlybadger690 Thanks Peter that's helpful. I was trying to have it move with me and I don't think thats possible at 2 miles out. But the finger drag will work - might need to get new gloves! Keep posting your stuff - its really good.

    Pete how many miles did you cover each day and total. I take it you rode the bikes from old Blighty

    • @gnarlybadger690
      @gnarlybadger690  2 роки тому

      Yes chap did ride from the UK, milage per day varied depending on how we felt I think one day we may have only covered 60 odd miles and another day we did over 200 terrain, stunning views and the weather dictated most days we also had a couple of days rest although we usually rode some local trails we downloaded from Wikiloc in total we rode 1500 miles in 11 days which averages out at 136 miles a day hope this helps you out thanks for watching appreciate it 👍🏻
