Peter, thanks for the upload. I have been thinking about lowering my 690 solely to fix the inconvenience of approaching road junctions and getting on and off the bike. What Is the name if the product you purchased?
Thanks Dean, I got the stand through Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Trad4U-1100lbs-Motorcycle-Scissor-Hoist/dp/B07FNNJZRP/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2FBO1TQAMQF1P&keywords=motorcycle+lift&qid=1643746610&sprefix=motorcycle+lift%2Caps%2C80&sr=8-11
Excellent cheers. Can I'm torn between the 25 and 40 mm dropped links rally raid do. I have a 29 inch inside leg is this shorter than yours? Also How much did you drop front forks by?
Hi the drop on the forks I did was the same as the link drop 25mm in total the forks had a small 5mm drop when I brought the bike, the geometry has stayed the same and the bike felt no different other than the lower seat height which as helped me no end
Nicely done! Do you know if this kit would fit the 2021 model too? On the RR site is presented for 2019-2020. Also, I know that the original link has 4 needle bearings. Does the RR link have 4 bearings or only 2?
TBH I would give RR a ring there's always someone there during the week that could better answer that question again with the bearings I did notice that the bearings in the RR link looked to cover more area inside the link they also felt smoother than the standard bearings but they were new the KTM link Had covered 7,000 miles
@@gnarlybadger690 the same link fits 2021 model already. Btw - I asked them and their lowering link also have 4 bearings inside. 👍 I will place an order. Let's see how much will it take to cross the pond from the GB to RO.
It doesn't seem to have made the side stand any less effective, I thought it may have made the bike stand more upright but I haven't had any issues at all
Guys told me they put a side stand off a 690 Super Moto on their 690 Enduro, so thats what Im doing. To me the stock 690R enduro sidestand almost stands the bike up too straight. If I get on with the sidestand down there is no way to get the sidestand up. With out getting back off the bike again. So Im trying the shorter super moto sidestand, found one used on ebay.
TBH I'm not sure some people refer to the standard has 7.2nm so my spring would be 8.5nm if unsure speak to a specialist they will always advise for free
No it didn’t affect the handling at all the slight drop with the fork kept the factory geometry settings and I could feel no difference in the handling of the bike prior to fitting the link
Thanks I’m going to put my 690 back to stick so this is very helpful. Only thing I don’t have is a wooden plank so might need to get something.
Glad it helped
Thanks. Very helpful ❤
Hi Peter, great video, thanks for sharing 👍
May I ask how tall you are please? Thanks, John
I'm 5' 7" or 1:73m and I'm comfortable with at least one foot flat on the floor at the road junctions and in traffic on the trail it is perfect for me

How does it affect the stand? Does if make the bike stand up too straight, like its not leaning on it enough?

You're welcome! Colin
great job Peter, looks a well made product 👍and dont it make feel better when you can your leg over on a regular basis, the seat that is 🤣🤣
Getting my leg over has never been easy Paul 🤣🤣🤣
I searched and searched for Wally Wade, nothing!
Keep trying, you'll find it!
Nice. Did u have to get some bar raisers to lower the forks?
No not needed for the 20mm drop
Some people say 60nm some people say 60lbft, which one is it? The manual states 100nm??
TBH I'm not sure some people refer to the standard has 7.2nm so my spring would be 8.5nm if unsure speak to a specialist they will always advise for free
Did you need to modify the side stand?
No I didn't have to, been using for a while now with no problems
how much lower did it get? anyone?
25mm lower
@gnarlybadger690 Thanks! I'm 172 cm tall and my toes are hitting the ground. This, plus a lower seat and 17" wheels, should be perfect!
Did it affect the handling of the bike ?????
No it didn’t affect the handling at all the slight drop with the fork kept the factory geometry settings and I could feel no difference in the handling of the bike prior to fitting the link
good job pal
Cheers bud
What is the seat height on it now?
The seat height on my bike is 885mm according to the spec sheet the standard seat height is 910mm.
Do you have Instagram or something? I have some questions regarding the 690 and 500
Not at the moment
